Kathleen Faye "Katie" Haskins
November 11, 1996 - December 14, 2000
Kathleen Faye "Katie" Haskins, 4, of Monon died Thursday, December 14, 2000 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born November 11, 1996 in Jacksonville North Carolina the daughter of Kenneth and Erin Smith Haskins.
She and her family had lived in Monon for three weeks, coming from Jacksonville, N.C.
She is survived by her father, Kenneth Haskins of Monon, and her mother, Erin Haskins of Jacksonville. N.C.; Two sisters Ashley Haskins and Megan Carmichael, both of Jacksonville, N.C. Paternal grandparents, Samuel and Donna Haskins also of Monon; Maternal grandparents, Brendan and Olive Smith of North Carolina; Paternal great-grandmother Fae Schnelle, of Wolcott.
Funeral services were Monday at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer with Pastor Bill Pitt officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Rensselaer.
Wayne Hasselbring
July 6, 1929 - December 7, 1988
Wayne C. Hasselbring, 59, R.2, Wolcott, died at Middle House in Indianapolis; at 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday. He had been a patient there for two weeks and had been in ill health for several months.
He was born July 6, 1929, in Mildord, Illinois, the son of John and Gladys Tubbs Hasselbring. He was married May 5, 1967 to Juanita Cooley. He was a farmer and had lived in the community all his life. He had served in the Air Force from 1948 to 1962.
A member of the Lafayette Church of Christ Scientist, he was a Past Master and member of the Wolcott Masonic Lodge, member of the Wolcott Order of the Eastern Star, president of the Wolcott West Point Library, active in the White County Farm Bureau and a Sagamore of the Wabash.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita, his mother, one daughter, Shed Hasselbring, a student at Purdue and two sons, Curtis and Doug, both at home.
One brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Foster Funeral Home in Wolcott. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 2 to 9 p.m. on Saturday.
Francis J. Hatke
March 29, 1935 - October 22, 1998
Francis J. Hatke, 63, Brookston, died at 3:43 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 1998 at his residence.
He was born March 29, 1935, in Lafayette, to Frank and Luetta Kochert Hatke. He married Mildred Brunner in Danville on July 2, 1953.
He attended St. Boniface Catholic School and Jefferson High School in Lafayette.
He had lived in the White County area since 1973, moving from Lafayette.
He was a self-employed carpenter.
He also mastered the art of flying small four-seater planes in the 1960s.
He is survived by his mother, Luetta Hatke of Lafayette; his wife; three sons, Frank and Darryl of Lafayette and Robert of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four daughters; Sara Rael of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Marsha Sigo of Fulton, Melissa Siga of West Lafayette, and Jo Ann Miller of Lafayette; four sisters, Ruth Hicks of Lafayette and Adeline Hasser, Mildred Schluttenhofer and Arlene Budreau, all of Earl Park; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Hayes officiating.
Robert L. "Bob" Hatter
May 16, 1930 - January 7, 1995
Robert L. "Bob" Hatter, 64, Rt. 1, Delphi, died at 3 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at his home after a seven month illness.
He was born May 16, 1930, to Walter R. and Edna G. Hanaway Hatter in Lebanon. He married Joan Boone Calvert on July 20, 1978 in Yeoman, and she survives.
He was a 1948 Delphi High School graduate who served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the
Korean War.
He worked for almost 30 years with the Ironworkers Local No. 379, Lafayette.
He was a member of the Delphi American Legion Post No. 75, and the VFW Post No. 983, Delphi, where he was a past post chaplain. He was a past master of the Mt. Olive Masonic Lodge No. 48 in Delphi, a member of the Tippecanoe Shrine Club and the Tippecanoe Shrine Patrol. He was voted Patrolman of the Year in 1992. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite, Indianapolis Valley 40 & 8 Voiture No. 364, Lafayette, and the Hillbilly Club Clan No. 14, Kokomo. He enjoyed camping gardening, fishing and mushroom hunting.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Jackie Wheeler of Arkansas; two sons, Curtis Jay of Fort Wayne, and Jeff of Charlotte, NC; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Todd (Cheryl) Riley of Rt. 2. Brookston; one stepson, Glenn "Butch" Calvert of Rt. 4, Delphi; one sister, Mrs. Frank (Barbara) Iannelly of Logansport; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, the Rev. Ellis Gasser officiated.
military graveside rites were conducted at the Camden Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Carroll County Cancer Association or the Tippecanoe Shrine Patrol.
A. Kathryn Hauptli
January 7, 1921 - January 7, 2003
A. Kathryn Hauptli, 82, of Rensselaer, died Tuesday, January 7, 2003, in St. Elizabeth Memorial Center, Lafayette.
She was born January 7, 1921, in Jasper County, where she was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1938.
On February 1, 1939, she married Robert B. Hauptli, in Rensselaer. He died June 23, 1999.
She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm with her husband.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Rensselaer.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Lou (Timothy Sr.) Blount of Monon, Norma (Orville Jr.) Hickman, and Pamela (Daniel) Love both of Rensselaer; and a sister, Edith Davis of Rensselaer; three grandsons; 2 step grandsons; 5 great grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren.
Her parents, Louis K. and Ruby Zillhart and one grandson preceded her in death.
Funeral services were Friday, January 11 [i.e., 10], 2003, at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer, with Pastor Keith Kincaid officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens of Rensselaer.
Memorials may be made to the memorial fund at First Christian Church of Rensselaer.
Minnie Taylor Haworth
December 11, 1911 - April 8, 1991
Minnie Taylor Haworth, 79, Monticello, died Monday, April 8, in Monticello Healthcare Center. She had been in ill health for five years and seriously ill for one month.
She was born Dec. 11, 1911, to Willie and Savannah Woods Sims, in Monroe Co., Kentucky. She was first married to Cleo Taylor, Oct. 31, 1931. He died May 14, 1966. She married Frank Haworth, May 24, 1975. He died Aug. 13, 1976.
She moved to Monticello from Reynolds in 1966.
For several years she worked at the former Bryan Manufacturing Co. Later she was employed at the Twin Lakes School Corp. cafeteria.
She was a member of Monticello Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Charles G. Taylor, Monticello and David J. Taylor, Philadelphia, Pa.; three daughters, Mrs. Margie Kauffman and Mary Troxel, both of Lafayette and Peggy S. Mullin, Kokomo; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Ned Sims, Brookston, and six sisters, Evelyn Horton, Brookston; Christine Poindexter, Wolcott, Ada Arms and Mary Short, both of Indianapolis, Maude Mitchell, Celina, Tenn., and Ollie Hamilton, Tomkinsville, Ky. A brother ad three sisters are deceased.
The funeral was Wednesday, at Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, Monticello, Charles Hill officiated.
Burial was in IOOF Riverview Cemetery.
Mary Jane Heckathorn
November 18, 1917 - October 17, 2001
Mary Jane Heckathorn, 83, a resident of Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare and a former resident of Monon and Fulton, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare.
She was born Nov. 18, 1917, to Jacob and Nannie Lowe Greenwald, in Indianapolis. She married Kenneth Dean Heckathorn and he survives.
She worked as a carrier for 20 years for the Rochester Post Office.
She had lived in Fulton for 50 years and in 1999 moved to Monon, then in March 2001 moved to Monticello.
She was an avid camper and member of the Good Sam Club.
Other survivors include a daughter, Penny (David) Yeakley-Scott of Monon; sons, Freddie K. (Merlee) Heckathorn, Celina, Ohio and Jerry D. (Maxine) Heckathorn of Rochester; a sister, Bernice Thurber, Milwaukee, Wis.; a brother, Wil11am (Betty) Greenwald, Lafayette; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
Three grandchildren, Brent Heckathorn, Yancy Yeakley and an infant are deceased.
Services were Saturday at the Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. George Hapner officiating.
Burial was in Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Fulton County United Ministry.
Esther W. Heimlich
May 18, 1899 - August 11, 1992
Esther W. Heimlich, 93, formerly of 502 Market St., Monticello, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 1:05 p.m. in Tioga Pines Living Center. She had been seriously ill for three weeks.
She was born May 18, 1899, to Henry and Pauline Weise Ruemler, in White County. She was married Sept. 21,1924, to Walter G. Heimlich, in North Dakota, and he died March 5, 1979.
She lived in White County most of her life and was a graduate of Indiana State College in 1957. She taught in North Dakota, Brookston and Reynolds. She had lived in Coffeeville, N.D., for several years.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Monticello.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth W., Monticello; a step-grandson, Roger Lawrie; a brother, Herbert Ruemler, Brookston; a sister, Selma Fanrich. Jamestown, N.D. and four step-great grandchildren. Three brothers and a sister are deceased.
The funeral will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Lutheran Church of Our Savior. Monticello, with Rev. Gus George officiating. Visitation is today from 4-8 p.m. at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello, and one hour prior to the funeral service, Friday.
Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds.
Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior.
Winona "Happy" Heimlich
February 1, 1915 - February 5, 2001
Winona "Happy" Heimlich, 86, of Monticello, died Monday, February 5, 2001 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
She was born in Reynolds on February 1, 1915 to Albert and Erma Lange Westfall. She married John C. "Clemmy" Heimlich in Reynolds on July 22, 1949. He died September 30, 1983.
She was a 1931 graduate of Reynolds High School and also graduated from Lafayette Business College.
She had lived in Reynolds almost all of her life. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds where she was active in the Ladies Aid and the Lutheran Women's Mission League.
She was also a member of the Honey Creek Extension Homemakers Club.
She is survived by a son, John C. (Barbara) Heimlich, Jr. of Reynolds: a daughter, Jane (Dan) Klinkhammer of Battle Ground; stepdaughters, Barbara (Virgil) Seymour of Mission, TX and Phyllis (Arthur) Smith of Ossian; sister, Ora Pittman of Valparaiso; brother, Ross Westfall, of Monticello: grandchildren, Jeff Klinkhammer of Lafayette, Jennifer Klinkhammer of Indianapolis, Bryan (Gretchen) Heimlich of Monon and Michael (Heidi) Heimlich of Ballwin, MO and several step-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home in Monticello and one hour, prior to services Thursday at the church. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds with the Rev. Stephen Koenig officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds.
Memorials may be made to the St. James Lutheran Childcare Ministry or to the St. James Lutheran Church.
