Larry W. Malaska

September 23, 1948 - January 5, 1999
Larry W, Malaska, 50, of Battle Ground, was pronounced dead on arrival Tuesday morning, Jan. 5, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 23, 1948, to Ora and Martha Moore Malaska, in Lafayette. He was married Jan. 29 1972, to Ann Reid in San Francisco, and she survives.

He graduated in 1967 from Jefferson High School in Lafayette.

He served in the U.S. Army in communications and was discharged in 1971.

He had resided for 20 years, in Battle Ground.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, West Lafayette.

He was a member of the Battle Ground Saddle Club.

Along with his wife, he is survived by a sister, Linda Hendrickson, Lafayette.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Doris Hicks, Mary Chatfield and the Rev. Clyde Tilley officiating.

Burial was in Liberty Chapel Cemetery, Tippecanoe County.

Memorials may be given to THE CHAPS program.

Glen E. Malchow

January 6, 1934 - August 26, 2001
Glen E. Malchow, 67, of Monticello died August 26, 2001 at his residence.

He was born in Pulaski County on January 6, 1934 to Harry F. and Marie 0. Westfall Malchow. He married Shirley J. Rance in Monticello on January 6, 1988. She survives.

He was a 1952 graduate of Francesville High School.

He lived in White County since 1954.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Francesville.

He is survived by three stepsons, Timothy Hickman of San Antonio, Texas, Joseph Hernandez of Monticello and Ronald Hernandez of Lebanon; two stepdaughters, Tammy Hernandez of Lebanon and Cindy Taylor of Noblesville; a brother Paul Malchow of Francesville; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Two daughters, Glenda Maichow and Sabrina Malchow, a son Kevin Malchow, and a sister Gloria Malchow are deceased.

The funeral was August 29, 2001 at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Rev. James Copeland officiating.

Burial was in Riverview IOOF Cemetery, Monticello.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

Shirley J. Malchow

April 9, 1940 - November 10, 2002
Shirley J. Malchow, 62, of Monticello, died Sunday, November 10, 2002 at her residence.

She was born in Cass County on April 9, 1940, to Herbert V. and Mary P. Henline Rance. She married Glen Malchow at Monticello on January 6, 1988. He died on August 26, 2001.

She graduated from Logansport High School and was a homemaker.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.

She liked to crochet.

Survivors include sons, Joseph S. Hernandez II of Monticello and Ronald Hernandez of Lebanon; daughters Cindy Tyler and Tammy J. Hernandez both of Lebanon; a stepson, Tim Hickman of San Antonio, Texas; a brother Terry D. Rance of Logansport; sisters Darlene Blackman of Fort Wayne and Barbara McCoy of Monticello; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren

Brothers Norman Rance and Ronald Rance are deceased.

Funeral services were this morning at Fisher-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home in Monticello with the Rev. James Goodrum officiating.

Burial was at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Julia Lennen Mansfield

October 8, 1900 - March 21, 1994
Julia Lennen Mansfield, 93, formerly of Brookston, died Monday afternoon in Tioga Pines Living Center, Monticello, where she had been a resident since December 6, 1989.

She was born October 8, 1900 in Tippccanoe County to Peter and Mary Ellen Cheeseman Lennen. She married George M. Mansfield on May 19, 1917 in Lafayette. He died December 8, 1984.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, George "Homer" of Lafayette, Jimmie of Rt. 2, Brookston, and Richard of Monticello; three daughters, MargueriteLawson of Brookston, Mary Louise Chambers of Lafayette. and Mrs. Norman (Iverree) Loftus of Rhinelander, Wisc.; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, two sisters and two infant sons are deceased.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Herb Wingard and the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating.

Burial was in IOOF Brookston Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Brookston-Prairie Township Public Library.

Henry E. "Hank" Marconett

April 21, 1923 - September 6, 1990
Henry E. "Hank" Marconett, 67, Chalmers, died Thursday, Sept. 6, at 7:25 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been a patient for one day.

He was born April 21, 1923 to Aaron and Ida Malone Marconett, in Lawrence, Kansas. He was married Aug. 7, 1946, to Norma Meeks, in Lawrence, Kansas, and she survives.

For the past 22 years he lived in Chalmers and in 1981 retired as a welder with the Iron Workers Local No. 379 in Lafayette. He was a World War II veteran, serving in Europe with Army Company C, 71st Infantry. He was a member of the Chalmers American Legion Post No. 268.

Surviving with the wife are three daughters; Mrs. Randy (Lora) Tweedy and Julie Kellerhals, both of Brookston and Mrs. Dave (Judy) Mikels, Louisville, Ky.; two sons, Steve and Alan; both of Chalmers; one brother, Frank, Ottawa, Kansas; five sisters; Edna Whitworth, Alice Pruitt and Letha Deskins, all of Ottawa, Kansas, Ella Richardson, Wellington, Kansas and Georgia Ward, Chanute, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Two brothers and three sisters are deceased.

Services were conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Lore Shuman officiating.

military graveside rites were conducted at IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.

Memorial contributions can be given to the American Cancer Society.

Eva L. Marion

August 20, 1908 - March 30, 2001
Eva L. Schlegelmilch Marion, 92, 1120 N. Main St., Monticello, died Friday, March 30, 2001 at 7:34 p.m. in Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare.

She was born August 20, 1908 to Frank and Esta Howe Pearce, in Hendricks County. She was married August 21, 1924, to Tom Schlegelmilch, in Lafayette and he died July 23, 1961. She married William Marion, April 4, 1964 and he died October 3, 1987.

She lived in Monticello since 1922.

She worked at Kroger for nine years, Bryan Manufacturing for nine years, Dr. Richard Cobb's office for 13 years and the Union Township Library for a year.

She was a member of Pike Creek Church of the Brethren, where she served as a deaconess.

Surviving are two stepsons, Richard C. Marion of Delphi and Robert W. Marion of Monon; a daughter-in-law, Mary Schlegelmilch of Indianapolis; three grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; five great grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren.

A son, Dwight Schlegelmilch, a granddaughter, Lory Schlegelmilch, a brother and sister are deceased.

The funeral service was Tuesday in the Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello at 10 a.m.

Burial will be in Riverview I.O.O,F. Cemetery.

Memorial may be given to Pike Creek Church of the Brethren or the White County Council on Aging.

John E. Marion

April 10, 1909 - June 3, 1991
John E. Marion, 82, Rte.2, Monon, died at 6:15 a.m. on Monday, June 3, at his residence. He had been in ill health for the past five months.

He was born April 10, 1909 in Jasper County, the son of Simeon and Aleatha Whiteman Marion. His marriage was to Lova Funk on July 4, 1934 in Liberty Township.

A retired farmer, he had lived and farmed in Monon Township all his life. He was a charter member of the Buffalo Church of the Brethren and was a deacon at the church.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters: Mrs. Jack (Sue) Hughes, Monon and Mrs. Donald (Mary Lou) Hudson, Monticello and one son, John F. Marion, Lebanon. He had six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Ellen Ezra of Indianapolis and Violet Hirt of Monticello also survive. One brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were Wednesday at Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon with Rev. George Thomson officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Cemetery.

Walter O. Marohl

October 26, 1930 - March 12, 2002
Walter O. Marohl, 71, of Monon died Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at his residence following a lengthy illness.

He was born October 26, 1930 in Patoka, Illinois, the son of Fayne and Seffie Melton Marohl Chapman. He married Rosalie Johnson on July 3, 1956 in Remington, Indiana. She survives.

A union construction worker for several years, he served as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He had lived in the Monon area for 40 years where he coached Little League, Babe Ruth, Girls' Softball & High School baseball for several years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 319 in Monon, Laborers & Hod Carriers Union Local #41, Hammond, In and Midwest Field Trial Association.

Also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Marohl, Monon, and Marilyn (Dave) Call, Galveston, Ind. and a son Doug Marohl, Crab orchard, W. Virginia.

Other survivors include seven brothers; Burl Marohl, Greenville, IL, Bill Chapman, Hebron, IN, Chuck Chapman, Monticello, and Bob Chapman, Larry Chapman, Roger Chapman and Steve Chapman all of Rensselaer and two sisters; Marge Clark, Monticello and Geraldine Clouse, Rensselaer. He had three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services with military Rites will be conducted at Milroy Cemetery at Lee, Ind. at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 14 with Pastor Don Newman officiating. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
