Mary L. DeMien
PLYMOUTH -- Area lifetime resident, Mary L. DeMien, 84, Plymouth, slipped into the arms of
her Savior on Good Friday, April 22, 2011, at 10:15 a.m. at her home on Baker St., Plymouth.
She was a longtime resident of Michigan Road north of Plymouth.
Mary was born in Plymouth Dec. 26, 1921. She was the daughter of Ray and Mildred (Martin)
Heyde. She graduated from LaPaz High School with the class of 1945.
May 12, 1946, Mary and Walter L. DeMien were married .
Mary was supervisor of housekeeping for Holy Cross Parkview Hospital for 26 years. She retired
in 1992.
She had an extensive collection of dolls, loved to work crossword puzzles and enjoyed vegetable
and flower gardening. A second-generation member of the North Salem Church of God, Mary
was a member of the Ladies Circle.
Mary is survived by two sons and a daughter. Her sons are Glen A. (Linda) DeMien, Nappanee,
and Jimmie L. (Virginia) DeMien, Plymouth. Her daughter is Shirley A. (Tim) Pearson of
Plymouth with whom she has made her home the past two years.
Sixteen grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren survive was well as a sister, Marjorie DeMien,
Plymouth; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Alwine of Plymouth; and brother and sister-in-law, Fred and
Helen DeMien of St. Charles, Ill. Special friends Dennis and Jackie Meredith of Salt Lake City
and Mark and Beth Pearson of Oklahoma also survive.
She was preceded in death by Walter Dec. 15, 2008; two grandchildren, Cole and Cora Webb;
and by a brother, Louis Ray Heyde.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 25, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Services in the funeral home will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26 with the Rev. Darrell
Cardwell officiating.
Burial will follow in the New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gift contributions can be made to benefit the North Salem Church of God, 13263 4th
Road, Plymouth, IN, 46563 or the Center for Hospice Care, 112 S. Center St., Plymouth, IN, 46563.

Loretta L. Earnest
KNOX -- Loretta L. Earnest, 87, died Sunday, April 24, 2011 in her home after a sudden illness.
She is survived by sons, Robert 'Joe' (Carolyn) Earnest of Pearland, Texas and Richard
(Dianna) Earnest of Knox; daughter, Nancy (Ken) Osburn of Knox; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren;
one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, William (Gloria) Dickson of Knox.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 at Rannells Funeral Home,
Hamlet Chapel and Thursday at the church after 10 a.m.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28 at Bible Baptist Church, Knox.
Burial will be in the Round Lake cemetery, Knox.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Bible Baptist Church or the Heritage Christian
Church.

Robert H. Ferguson
KOONTZ LAKE -- Robert H. Ferguson, 79, passed away Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 in St.
Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, Ind. Ferguson was born July 8, 1931 in Chicago, Ill.
to Howard and Evelyn (Houser) Ferguson.
He is survived by his very special friend, Frances Christy. Also surviving are his good friends,
William and Nina Belk and many more friends from the Hoosier Old Wheels Car Club.
He worked for many years in New York as a steel structural detailer and retired to Koontz Lake
in 1988 with Frances where he pursued his passion for old automobiles. He was a U.S. Army
veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Walkerton American Legion Post #189, the
Moose Lodge of Plymouth and the Hoosier Old Wheels Car Club and the Hoosier Pontiac
Oakland Club.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 30, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon (Eastern Time) at Rannells Funeral
Home Koontz Lake Chapel.
Burial will follow where he will be laid to rest next to his parents at Crown Hill cemetery in Knox.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Walkerton American Legion Post
#189.

Evelyn Marsh
KNOX -- Evelyn Marsh, 88, of Leesburg, Fla., formerly of Knox, died Sunday, April 24, in her
home.
She is survived by sons, Ralph (Sue) Marsh of Leesburg, Fla. And George Marsh of Terre
Haute; daughters: Marilyn Rzonca of Lake Worth, Fla., Evelyn (Bruce) Nevins of Leesburg, Fla.
And Joan (John) McGrath of Knox; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great
grandchildren; sisters, Jean Dumas of Arizona and Loretta Rarick of Warsaw; and one daughterin-law,
Carolyn Sue Marsh of Lake Worth, Fla.
Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (CST) at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet
Chapel.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. (Central Time) at the funeral home with Pastor John Cargo
officiating. Burial will be at the Crown Hill cemetery, Knox. Memorial contributions may be given
to a hospice of the donor’s choice.

William E., Sr. Rowe
KNOX -- William E. Rowe Sr. died April 24, 2011 at Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso.
Rowe is survived by his children: A son, William (Melanie) Rowe Jr. of Lakeville and a daughter,
Tina (Richard) Bailey of Knox; a sister, Gloria Speck of Hebron; four grandchildren; two great grandsons;
and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation took place from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox.
Funeral services took place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Betty Jean Kaminski
PLYMOUTH -- Betty Jean Kaminski, 79, of Parkview Ave., Plymouth, formerly of Argos, died at
10:15 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth, following a
lengthy illness.
He was born March 6, 1932 in Bartow, Fla., to Jasper and Pansy (Dyson) Anderson and over to
the Argos Community in 1955, coming from Dayton, Ohio.
She married Kenneth M. Kaminski March 6, 1952 in Henrietta, Texas. He preceded her in death
Feb. 27, 2007. Betty was a housewife.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Shafer of Plymouth; son, Marvin (Beverly) Kaminski of
Argos; a grandson, Shanan (Julie) Shafer of Rochester; four granddaughters: Shalon (Tim)
Paterson of Plymouth, Shelly (Kevin) Longson of Plymouth, and Brittany and Rochelle Kaminski,
both of Argos; a great-grandson, Jordon Shafer; five great-granddaughters: Rhiley and Paige
Shafer, Samantha and Grace Paterson, and Alexie Longson; two brothers, John Anderson of
Michigan, and Frank Anderson of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers: Archie, Milford, Arthur and
Jerry Anderson; two sisters, Dorothy Howell, and Frances Collins.
Friends may visit with the family Wednesday April 27, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the EarlGrossman
Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Services will be at Thursday April 28, 2011, 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Scott Yoder of
Crossroads Church, Plymouth will officiate.
Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery, Argos.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Argos Community Schools, Dollars for Scholars,
Attn: Eugene Cooper, Treasurer; 18707 Michigan Road, Argos, IN, 46501 or Center for Hospice
and Palliative Care; 112 S. Center St., Plymouth, IN, 46563. Envelopes will be available at the
funeral home.

Raymond T. Pierson
PLYMOUTH -- Raymond T. Pierson, 85, formerly of E. Baker St., Plymouth, died peacefully,
surrounded by his loving wife and family in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home at 3:40 p.m. Monday,
April 25, 2011.
Raymond was born in South Bend Dec. 5, 1925 to Louis V. and Victoria Rataczak Pierson. Ray
attended school at St. Adelbert and Central High School in South Bend before joining the Navy.
He enlisted in the Navy Jan. 3, 1943; he served in the Pacific Theater on the USS Mascorna and
the USS Vela Gulf and was honorably discharged April 4, 1946.
He served the City of South Bend with great pride and dedication as a police officer and
detective from October 1947 to October 1967.
Ray was employed for 11 years by the Indiana Association of Credit Managers; he then became
a courier for the Sisters of St. Francis in South Bend before retiring in 1992.
Sept. 3, 1983, Raymond and Pauline A. Drake were married .
In April of 1996, Ray and his wife, Pauline, moved to Plymouth, where they became very active
with St. Michaels serving as Eucharistic Ministers and also St. Joseph Regional Medical Center
as volunteers.
Ray was a member of St. Michael’s Knights of Columbus Council 1975 and the South Bend
Cursillo Community.
Ray has made his home at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Facility for the past four years. We would like
to thank the facility for their excellent care and support.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 27 years Pauline Pierson, Plymouth, and from his union with
Barbara Castleman, a daughter Mary E. LeBold Alvarez, Memphis, Tenn., and a son Patrick L,
Pierson of New Bern, N. C.
Ray is survived by a brother, Don Pierson, South Bend along with four stepdaughters: Char
(Dave) Geisler, Knox, Ind., Carole Drake, Plymouth, Ind and Barbara (Randy) Pipher, of
Towanda, Penn. And Jeanne (Todd) Dittrich, Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Two stepsons survive as
well: Thomas (Sandi) Drake, Springfield, Mo. And Paul (Theresa) Drake, Rochester.
There are 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren surviving; also surviving are several
nieces and nephews; and a good friend, David Winenger.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Loretta Colly; and grandson, Paul
Drake, Jr.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, April 27, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. The FOP Lodge Ritual will be held at 7 p.m.,
with the praying of the Rosary following the lodge services.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011, at 11 a.m. in St.
Michael Roman Catholic Church, 610 N. Center St., Plymouth. The Rev. Father William Kummer
will officiate.
Military rites will be accorded to Raymond by the Plymouth American Legion, VFW, and DAV.
Memorial gifts in Raymond’s memory may be given to the St. Michael Catholic Church School
Fund, 612 North Walnut St., Plymouth, Ind. Or Center for Hospice Care, 112 S. Center St.
Plymouth, Ind.

Janice F. Bolles
KNOX -- Janice F. Bolles, 64, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Porter Health-Valparaiso
Hospital at 5:30 p.m.
Surviving are her husband, Fred Bolles Sr.; one son, Fred (Debbie) Bolles Jr. of England; two
daughters, Kimberly Freet and Andrea Bolles, both of Knox; one granddaughter; two brothers,
Troy Lewis of Portage and Danny Lewis of Valparaiso; three sisters, Hazel Fields of Newton
County, Mary Noe of South Haven, and Barbara Snyder of Florida.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel with burial at
Crown Hill cemetery, Knox. Friends may call Friday from 10 a.m. CDT until the time of service at
the funeral home.

Clement C. Fox
PLYMOUTH -- Clement C. Fox, 85, died unexpectedly at his West 9th Road residence
Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 11:50 p.m. due to natural causes.
He was born Sept. 27, 1925 in Monterey, one of 14 children from the union of Frederick W. and
Elizabeth (Winter) Fox. He received his elementary education at St. Anne’s Holy Family School
and continued at Monterey High School.
May 8, 1944 he entered active duty in the United States Army during WWII stationed in Central
Europe. His tour would end May 22, 1946 as a Tech 5 having received a Purple Heart and two
Bronze Stars.
Clem had contact with farming his entire life. After the war he worked on the farm at Ancilla
Domini where he met his future bride Anita T. Glose. As Clem would put it, he married the 'boss’
daughter.' Clem and Anita were married in St. Michael’s Church May 3, 1950 and next Tuesday
would have celebrated 61 years together.
For more 22 years Clem worked for the Plymouth Community School Corporation. He performed
custodial work and could fix or repair anything. His longest assignments were at West School
and then ending at Washington School retiring in 1996. Clem, alongside his wife Anita have
continued to provide for the volunteer care of the grounds of St. Michael Parish along with
various projects over their many years of membership and will be greatly missed.
He has also maintained a large garden at their residence which is home to Marshall County’s
only functional round barn that they have proudly kept restored and whose efforts received a
Wythogan Award in May of 2006.
As a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Clem had been a member of the Holy
Name Society.
Clem is survived by his wife Anita and their four children and two grandsons. They are: Charles
C. (Teresa) Fox of Plymouth and their sons, Brendan M. Fox of West Point, N.Y. and Declan P.
Fox of Evanston, Ill.; Lorraine A. (Mark) Brattoli of Ft. Wayne; August F. (Patti) Fox of
Brooksville, Fla. And Sr. M. Rosaria Fox of the Poor Clare Monastery in Palos Park, Ill.
Surviving brothers and sisters include: Mary E. Ziegler, of Balton, Texas, Roseann (Karl) Master
of Monterey, Carl W. (Mary) Fox of Plymouth, Rev. Thomas Fox of Remington, Donald (Eldona)
Fox of Logansport, Richard (Judy) Fox and Kenneth (Ruth) Fox all of Plymouth and James
(Wanda) Fox of Rochester, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers; Robert, Paul, Theodore, Ralph and
Lloyd Fox.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth where the Rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. The Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30 in the St. Michael Catholic
Church, 613 N. Center St. Plymouth. Officiating will be the Revs. Thomas Fox and William
Kummer.
Burial will follow in the St. Michael cemetery at the corner of W. Harrison and Oak Drive in
Plymouth. Military honors will be accorded Clem by members of the American Legion Post 27,
VFW, D.A.V. and South Bend Honor Guard Unit.
Preferred are memorial gifts to St. Michael Parish in lieu of flowers.
