LEROY PLETT
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Leroy Plett, 77, died June 24, 2004, in Albuquerque, N.M.
He was born March 22, 1927, to Johnnie and Marie Becker Plett in Turpin.
He married Betty L. Ray on Aug. 21, 1948, in Turpin. She died April 15, 1995.
He graduated from Turpin High School in 1949 and received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma State University. Later, he received his M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Mexico.
He was a civil engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He retired in 1982.
Survivors include one son, Michael Plett and wife, Beverly, Chicago; one daughter-in-law, Miriam Plett, Albuquerque N.M.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He is also preceded by his parents, one son, Mark Plett, and one brother, Don Plett.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday at the Turpin Mennonite Cemetery
with the Rev. Jeff Wintermote presiding.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. today at the Miller Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association in care of the mortuary.
DANNY J. JONES
RAWLINS, Wyo. Danny Joe Jones, 46, died Friday, June 25, 2003, at his residence in Rawlins, Wyo.
He was born Jan. 7, 1957, to Ira Bell and Ruby (Brooks) Jones in Liberal.
He married Barbara Jean "BJ" (Murray). She survives.
He was a roughneck in oilfields.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Other survivors include one son, David Jones, Rawlins, Wyo.; three brothers, Huston Jones, David Jones and wife, Monica, San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Darvin Jones and wife, Mary, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one sister, Maybell Ingland and husband, Richard, Dodge City; one sister-in-law, Polly Jones, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; and many nephews, nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Eddie Dale Jones, Delmer Leon Jones and Ira "Shorty" Jones.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Arkalon Park in Liberal.
DOROTHY G. THOMPSON
HUGOTON Dorothy G. Thompson, 90, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Pioneer Manor in Hugoton.
She was born April 21, 1914, to Frank and Jessie (Sillin) Anderson in St. John.
She married Forrest Thompson May 1, 1934, in Hugoton. He preceded her in death.
She graduated from Hugoton Rural High School in 1929.
She was a secretary for Northern Natural Gas until her retirement.
She was an active member of the First Church of God in Hugoton.
Survivors include two sons, Grant E. Thompson, Hugoton and Jimmie L. Thompson, Atlanta; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Nora Swafford, Hugoton, Betty Brown, Hot Springs, Ark., Lilian Reynolds, Mesa, Ariz., and Mary Madden, Pueblo, Colo.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jessie Lois Bane, one granddaughter, Kelli Wise, one sister, Alice Demuth and one brother, Woody Anderson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday at the First Church of God in Hugoton with Pastor Bill Vincent presiding.
Burial will follow at Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.

LOIS E. MICHAEL
MOSCOW Lois Edna Michael, 90, of Moscow, died Sunday, July 4, 2004, at her home in rural Seward County.
She was born on Jan. 2, 1914, to John Allen and Elizabeth Duncan in Greensburg.
She married Charles C. E. Michael on Aug. 20, 1932, in Liberal. He died June 6, 1972.
She was a housewife and mother.
She is survived by two sons, Danny Michael, Moscow, and Clyde Michael, Parsons; one granddaughter; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; two great-granddaughters; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and 23 step-great-great-grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, one step-grandson, two step-great-great grandchildren, six brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, with Pastor Paul Boles presiding.
Burial will be in Golden Plains Cemetery, Moscow.
Memorials are suggested to Stevens County Medical Equipment and Home Health Care in care of Miller Mortuary.

MONTEZUMA Daniel J. Koehn, 85, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Montezuma Funeral Home, Montezuma.
LORA M. SOICE
MONTEZUMA Lora M. Soice, 93, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at her residence in Montezuma.
She was born on May 26, 1911, to John and Flora B. (Adams) Hickman in Seward.
She married Verle E. Soice in July 1937, in Stafford. He died on Oct. 30, 1989.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Montezuma.
Her hobbies included raising roses and other flowers. She was a KU basketball fan.
Survivors include two sons, Larry E. Soice and wife, Nicki, Wichita, and Verle Phillip "Phil" Soice and wife, Peggy, Santa Fe, N.M.; four grandchildren, Scott E. Soice, Neil P. Soice, Teri Sue Berry and Jennifer L. Soice; one great-grandson, Jesse C. Berry; and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Emory, Orville, Russell and Walter Keith "Bud" Hickman.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday at United Methodist Church, Montezuma, with the Rev. Gene Eshleman presiding.
Burial will be at 3:30 p.m., Friday in Stafford Cemetery, Stafford.
Friends may call today from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Montezuma Funeral Home.

KEITH E. JONES
Johnson Keith E. Jones, 75, died July 3, 2004, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned.
He was born Jan. 2, 1929, to Harold and Georgella Cramer Jones in Stanton County.
He was a farmer.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and was active in the Salvation Army, El Dorado.
He was divorced from Charlene Hook and Mary Jones. Both survive.
Other survivors include one son, Bruce Jones, Holly, Colo.; six daughters, Keithetta Jones, Amarillo, Texas, Melinda Wilson, Liberal, Rita Garfio, Lakin, Jennifer Coffee, Killen, Texas, Stacee Anderson, Towanda, and Cheri Shaver, Larned; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lowell Jones, Johnson City, and Jerry Jones, Johnson City; and four sisters, Gwendolyn Barrett, Johnson City, Cindy Losey, Johnson City, Betty Drew, Rolla, and Nancy Banuelos, Ulysses.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Robin Jones and Kevin Jones, and one daughter, Georgia Tammen.
Memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m., Thursday at Garnand Funeral Chapel in Johnson with the Rev. Dave Kaufmann presiding.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Stanton County Cemetery
with Military Graveside Rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

DVONNE MORRIS
SUBLETTE Dvonne Morris, 67, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
She was born May 19, 1937, to Raymond and Erma Hazel (Cox) Hill in Garden City.
She married James D. Morris on June 15, 1955, in Clayton, N.M.
She worked for the register of deeds office as a bookkeeper for Mr. C. G. Dennis and Holland Trucking. She worked for Haskell County Grain Company for 26 years as a bookkeeper.
She was a member of the Christian Church, Sublette.
Other survivors include one son, Kevin W. Morris and wife, Becky, Sublette; one daughter, DeAnn Hammer and husband, Steve, Sublette; five grandchildren, Jerrad Hammer, Justin Hammer, Ryan Ausborn, Cody Ausborn and Janessa Hammer; two brothers, Dennis Hill and wife, Georgia, Sublette, and Kenny Hill, McPherson; two half sisters, Ramona Benson, Marietta, Ga., and Leona Hocklandeer, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Kent Ray Morris, one brother, Daryl Hill, and one half sister, Gladys Kaufman.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Christian Church, Sublette, with Minister David Erwin presiding.
Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m., today and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Friday at the Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette.
