Enola Feldman

Funeral for Enola Feldman, 87, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Robert Cousins officiating. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery.

Mrs. Feldman died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at her home in Garden City.

Born Sept. 20, 1912, at Brownell, she was the daughter of Captain Lewis and Nellie Enola (Wood) Vastine. The family moved to Kearny County in 1920.

She graduated from Deerfield High School, attended Ottawa University for one year and later graduated from Garden City Community College.

On May 26, 1935, she married Frank Feldman at Deerfield. They moved to Finney County in 1946 and moved into Garden City in 1967.

A homemaker, she also taught piano for 17 years and was a teacher for three years in Kearny County. She enjoyed writing and had three books published. She also enjoyed making crochet rugs, music, reading and sewing.

Mrs. Feldman was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was a teacher and member of the Homemakers Sunday School class, and belonged to the A.A.U.W., United Methodist Women Godmothers, the Senior Center, R.S.V.P. and A.A.R.P. She was a life member of Friends of the Library and of the Kansas Authors Club, and was a volunteer for literacy at the Adult Learning Center.

Her husband died Dec. 26, 1982. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene Poet.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Larson, Garden City; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.

Betty Anne Tomich

Betty Anne Tomich, 77, of Sharon Springs, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

She was born Oct. 25, 1922, at Niagara Falls, N.Y., the daughter of William George and Edna Irene (Nagel) Soley. She attended Susquehanna Lutheran College in Selinsgrove, Pa., and graduated from the Brooklyn School of Nursing.

A Sharon Springs resident for one year, moving from Santa Fe, N.M., she worked for the New Mexico Land Office and was a registered nurse, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Santa Fe.

On Aug. 17, 1947, she married Joseph Leo Tomich at Silver City. N.M. He died April 13, 1956. She was also preceded in death by a son, Anthony William Tomich; and a sister, Miriam Lane Hill.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Mai, Sharon Springs, and Judith Tomich, Santa Fe; a brother, William T. Soley, Niagara Falls; and three grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church, Santa Fe, with the Rev. Benjamin Larzelere officiating. A second service is planned for 2 p.m. MT Sunday at Prairie Manor, Sharon Springs, with the Rev. Joanna Norris-Grimshaw officiating.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Prairie Manor of Sharon Springs or Christ Lutheran Church of Santa Fe, both in care of Burkhart Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, KS 67801.

Adele Forgue

Altar Society rosary for Adele Forgue, 90, of Concordia, will be 5 p.m. today at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Chapel, Concordia, with vigil service at 7:30 tonight. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, with the Rev. LeRoy Metro officiating. Burial will be in St. Concordia Cemetery.

Mrs. Forgue died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia.

She was born April 9, 1909, at Aurora, the daughter of Gabriel and Mary (Boyer) Zimmer. She attended school at Clyde.

On June 7, 1932, she married Felix Forgue at Clyde. A homemaker, she helped her husband farm in the Aurora community until they moved to Concordia in 1959. He died April 29, 1980. She was also preceded in death by two sisters.

Since December 1997, Mrs. Forgue had been a resident of Mount Joseph Senior Community in Concordia. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Altar Society, St. Anne Society and the Friendly Neighbor Club.

She is survived by three daughters, Leanna Rechtien, Joplin, Mo., Phyllis File, Beloit, and Janice Nunn, Garden City; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours are until 9 tonight at the funeral chapel and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials to the church may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 606, Concordia, KS 66901.

Gema Jasmin Lozano-Mendez

Graveside service for Gema Jasmin Lozano-Mendez, 2 months, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with the Rev. James E. Baker officiating.

Gema died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at her home in Garden City. She was born here on Jan. 21, 2000, the daughter of Margarita Mendez-Anchondo and Carlos Lozano, both of Garden City.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Jessica Arely-Mendez, Itzel Nayely Lozano-Mendez and Esmeralda Lozano-Mendez, all of Garden City; and her grandparents, Oralia Calderon and Margarita Anchondo, both of Mexico, and Carlos Mendez, Sudan, Texas.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Friends may meet at the funeral home by 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery.

Grace V. Woodrow

Funeral for Grace V. Woodrow, 90, a former Garden City resident, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Mennonite Church, Montezuma. Val Krehbiel and Ervey Unruh, pastors, will officiate. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery, Montezuma.

Mrs. Woodrow died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Satanta Long Term Care Unit, Satanta, where she had been a resident for 2 1/2 years.

She was born March 4, 1910, at Meno, Okla., the daughter of Peter D. and Helena (Dirks) Voth. The family moved to a farm near Claremore, Okla., and then to Montezuma in 1919.

She was baptized Oct. 30, 1955, at Church of the Brethren in Garden City, was a member of the Federated Church of Pierceville, and loved gospel music.

On July 6, 1940, she married James Woodrow at Dighton. After their marriage they moved to Copeland and then moved to Pierceville in 1942. A homemaker, Mrs. Woodrow worked side by side with her husband on the farm caring for cattle and crops.

After retiring in 1970, they moved to Garden City. He died Jan. 26, 1988. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Penner; and six brothers, Herman Voth, Henry Voth, Jake Voth, Ben Voth, Frank Voth and Albert Voth.

She is survived by several nephews and nieces, and three sisters-in-law, Emma Voth, Garden City, Lillian Voth, Montezuma, and Lula Voth, Dodge City.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Montezuma Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the music department of Faith Mennonite Church, in care of the funeral home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.

James Rodney Orth

Memorial service for former Garden City resident James Rodney Orth, 50, of Great Bend, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, with the Rev. Warren Stecklein officiating. Private family inurnment will take place later.

Mr. Orth died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born Dec. 20, 1949, at Wichita, the son of Harold P. and Helen L. (Downey) Orth.

A Great Bend resident since 1996, moving from Garden City, he was a supervisor for Francis Casing and belonged to St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.

He is survived by three brothers, Dennis M. Orth, Fort Worth, Texas, Harold L. Orth Sr., Great Bend, and Stanley T. Orth, Austin, Texas; and a sister, Priscilla A. Orth, Peabody.

Visitation hours are until 9 tonight at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home, Great Bend.
