Marguerite Allphin
DIGHTON - Marguerite Allphin, 85, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City.
She was born Sept. 6, 1915, at Alamota, the daughter of Edward William and Minnie Ella (Smith) Walter. A lifetime resident of Lane County, she graduated from Dighton High School in 1937.
Mrs. Allphin was a member of First Christian Church of Dighton and the Christian Womens Fellowship. A homemaker, she enjoyed reading, sewing, yard work, her flower garden and being around children.
On Sept. 5, 1937, she married Charles M. Allphin at Dighton. He died Oct. 11, 1992. She was also preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Ringleman, Cimarron; a son, Carl Allphin, Pueblo, Colo.; a brother, Charles Walter, Garden City; four grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Dighton, with the Revs. Mike Grogan and Kerry Grogan officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the J.O.Y. Center, both in care of Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton.
Anita M. Schartz
CIMARRON - Vigil service for Anita M. Schartz, 87, will be 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Ingalls. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Joseph E. Bahr officiating. Burial will be in Cimarron Cemetery.
Mrs. Schartz died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at her daughter's home in Vista, Calif.
She was born Nov. 24, 1913, at Ellinwood, the daughter of Mike and Anna (Schloctermeier) Robl. A Cimarron resident since 1944, moving from Belpre, she was a homemaker.
On Feb. 5, 1934, she married Arthur P. Schartz at Ellinwood. He died Dec. 11, 1982. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and Mat; three sisters, Laura Hammeke, Elizabeth Davis and Maria Katherine Roble; and a grandson.
She is survived by five sons, Russell, Joe and Leon, all of Cimarron, Michael, Lenexa, and Donald, Las Vegas; two daughters, Mary Lou Thomas, Las Vegas, and Carol Hanley, Vista; a brother, the Rev. Eugene Robl, Columbia, Mo.; two sisters, Magdalen Robl and Hildred Robl, both of Las Vegas; 22 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Burkhart's Gray County Funeral Chapel, Cimarron. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral chapel, P.O. Box 786, Cimarron, KS 67835.
Frances M. Koehn
Frances M. Koehn, 76, of Dodge City, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born June 26, 1924, in Gray County, the daughter of George T. and Ella (Koehn) Smith. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and a member of Faith Mennonite Church at Montezuma.
On Sept. 19, 1939, she married Reuben D. Koehn at Kinsley. He died Feb. 1, 2000. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Ratzlaff and Martha Ratzlaff.
Survivors include four sons, Richard and Wes, both of Dodge City, Larry, Tulsa, Okla., and Marty, Sioux City, Iowa; two daughters, Verina Omey, Alva, Okla., and Connie Scott, Cimarron; two brothers, Bert Smith, Newton, and Johnny Smith, Ulysses; four sisters, Leona Smith, Cimarron, Sarah Smith, Garden City, Grace Smith, Dodge City, and Pearl Smith, Springfield, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Faith Mennonite Church, Montezuma, with the Rev. Val Krehbiel officiating. Burial will be in North Mennonite Cemetery, Montezuma.

Harold Edward Stucker
SATANTA - Funeral for Harold Edward Stucker, 82, of Satanta, was to be 2 p.m. today at Sublette Christian Church, with the Rev. David Erwin officiating. Burial was to be in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.
Mr. Stucker died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born Feb. 9, 1918, at Great Bend, the son of Mace Earl and Minnie (Subke) Stucker.
On March 24, 1937, he married Norma Newberry at Garden City. They moved from Humansville, Mo., to Satanta in January 1993. She died April 9, 1995. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Earl Stucker.
A farmer and mechanic, Mr. Stucker enjoyed farming and working on tractors and combines. He also enjoyed raising hogs and cattle while in Missouri, gardening, baseball and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Garden City and attended Sublette Christian Church.
On May 28, 1996, he married Anna Churning at Sublette. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, James Delvan Stucker, Mesquite, Nev., and Larry Alan Stucker, Korea; two daughters, Roberta Moser, Sublette, and Joan Peek, Aurora, Colo.; a sister, Juanita Weeks, Satanta; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Clodaugh M. Strasser
Vigil service for Clodaugh M. Strasser, 90, will be 5:30 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Funeral Mass will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Garden City, with the Revs. Joseph Bahr and John Strasser officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mrs. Strasser died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.
She was born Nov. 17, 1910, at Lawton, Okla., the daughter of Frank and Rose (Preisser) Pickett. When she was a child, the family moved to Merna, Neb., and she attended schools there, graduating from high school in Merna.
A Garden City resident since 1929, she married Louis Strasser here on Oct. 22, 1935. Mrs. Strasser worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone from 1929 to 1935 and had been a homemaker since her marriage. Although she didn't have children of her own, she enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed making afghans and quilts.
She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Altar Society, American Red Cross and the Belles of St. Catherine and had volunteered at St. Catherine Hospital for many years.
Her husband died Jan. 24, 1978. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne F. Pickett; and two sisters, Lucille Rowe and Irene Williams.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Marie Pickett of Garden City, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the St. Dominic School Endowment Fund, in care of the funeral home.
James Patrick "Pat" Muench
SCOTT CITY - Vigil prayer service for James Patrick "Pat" Muench, 45, will be 7:30 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City, with the Rev. David Kraus officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.
Mr. Muench died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
He was born May 11, 1955, at Scott City, the son of John Jacob and Mary Monica (Norris) Muench. A lifetime resident of Scott City, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his mother, Scott City; a brother, Mike Muench, Hays; and two sisters, Janet Fiegel, Wichita, and Jennifer Vondracek, Scott City. He was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, J.D. Muench.
Visitation hours are until 7:30 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or Park Lane Nursing Home, both in care of the funeral home.
Lucinda Komlofske Reber
Funeral for Lucinda Komlofske Reber, 70, was Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Little Rock, Ark.
Mrs. Reber died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark.
She was born Sept. 12, 1930, at Garden City, the daughter of Joe and Adeline (Boxler) Komlofske. She graduated from high school at Holcomb.
On March 23, 1952, she married Tom Reber in Wichita. He survives. She is also survived by four sons, Kevin, Mark, Daniel and Steven; three daughters, Sharon, Rebecca and Laurie; four brothers, Alvin and Don, both of Garden City, Robert, Prineville, Ore., and Richard, Portland, Ore.; and 10 grandchildren.
