Elnora Maxine May

ULYSSES - Elnora Maxine May, 76, of Ulysses, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Bob Wilson Memorial Grant County Hospital in Ulysses. She had been a resident of Western Prairie Care Home, Ulysses, for several years.

Born April 9, 1925, at Moscow, she was the daughter of Roy Adrine and Bessie Estella Candace (Stevens) May.

She is survived by a brother, Roy Eldon May, Moscow; a sister, Cleo Fern Barton, Great Bend; and 13 nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Lila McCoy, Vera Kathryn Turner, Winna Bea May and Madge Leonard.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Moscow Cemetery.

Friends may sign the registrar from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton.

Ralph E. Patterson

Funeral for Ralph E. Patterson, 84, was 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with Dr. Robert Cousins officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Garden City.

Mr. Patterson died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born April 14, 1917, at Byers, the son of Charles E. and Luella C. (Fleenor) Patterson. A Garden City resident since 1945, moving from Sublette, he was a farmer and also worked with Butler Manufacturing Co., retiring in 1982.

Mr. Patterson was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

On Aug. 6, 1941, he married Virginia Irene Robinson at Little Rock, Ark. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Dale E. Patterson, and a daughter, Carolyn J. McLinn, both of Garden City; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lester.

Memorials are suggested to the church or Boy Scout Troop No. 108, both in care of the funeral home, 620 N. Main St.

F.A. "Alfred" Schlereth

Vigil service for F.A. "Alfred" Schlereth, 80, was 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Burkhart Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass was to be 10:30 this morning at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Dodge City, with the Rev. John R. Strasser officiating. Burial was to be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, with military graveside rites conducted.

Mr. Schlereth died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born May 23, 1921, at Dodge City, the son of Frank and Leona (Lindsey) Schlereth.

A lifetime resident of Hodgeman County, he was a farmer. He belonged to Sacred Heart Cathedral, Dodge City.

On April 10, 1943, he married Anna Marie Graf at Columbus, Ga. She died Oct. 21, 1965. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Marque, Dorothy Myers and Ruth Sprott.

On Sept. 6, 1989, he married Cynthia Carroll Drach at Jetmore. She survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Ruby Long, and her husband, Carl, Garden City; a brother, Curtis Schlereth, and his wife, Marie, Dodge City; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the Renal Care Group, in care of the funeral chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, KS 67801.

Doris White

Funeral for Doris White, 77, of Sublette, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Christian Church, Sublette, with the Rev. David Erwin officiating. Burial will be in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.

Mrs. White died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Wichita.

She was born July 22, 1923, at San Augustine, Texas, the daughter of Clarence and Lanine (Downs) Gilbert.

Mrs. White was a member of the Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star and the Past Matrons Club, all at Sublette.

On Oct. 7, 1945, she married Eldon B. White at San Benito, Texas. He died March 3, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Margaret Gilbert.

Survivors include a son, James Eldon "Jim" White, Larned; a daughter, Connie Lanine Myers, Sublette; and two grandchildren.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette. Memorials are suggested to the USD 374 Music Department or the American Diabetes Association, both in care of the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

Lorren "Wynn" Perkins

Funeral for Lorren "Wynn" Perkins, 39, of Dodge City, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, with the Revs. Jim and Lydia Ames officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, with military graveside rites conducted by Howard Gotschall VFW Post No. 1714.

Mr. Perkins died Saturday, June 23, 2001, from injuries suffered in a farming accident one-half mile east of Larned.

He was born Oct. 10, 1961, at Dodge City, the son of Lorren Perkins and Janet Jillie. He grew up in Cimarron, graduating from Cimarron High School in 1980.

Mr. Perkins most recently worked for Morrill Hay Company of Larned. He had served in the U.S. Army for three years.

On Sept. 19, 1996, he married Sheri Reese at Dodge City. She survives. He is also survived by his father, Palco; his mother and stepfather, Janet and Paul Rogers, Dodge City; two sons, Erik Perkins, Bison, and Kyson Perkins, Dallas; three daughters, Jennie Perkins and Sarah Perkins, both of Bison, and Angela Perkins, Garden City; a brother, Todd Perkins, Wichita; a stepsister, Annette Rogers, Dodge City; a sister, Janay Trahern, Cimarron; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Jillie, and Minnie Perkins, all of Dodge City; and two stepbrothers, Toby Rogers, Spearville, and Gene Rogers, Ensign.

Visitation hours are until 5 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Abundant Life Church of Dodge City, in care of the funeral home.

Lola Scott Hutchison

TRIBUNE - Lola Scott Hutchison, 88, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin.

She was born Nov. 4, 1912, at Bucklin, the daughter of George Print and Lydia Lillian (Gee) Preston. She attended school in Enterprise and Bucklin.

A homemaker, she had worked as a cook at Greeley County Hospital. She had been a Lakin resident since 1992, moving from Tribune.

Mrs. Hutchison was a member of First Baptist Church, and attended Sunday School and the Church Circle. She was a charter member of Whitelaw EHU, Busy Bee Sewing Club and American Legion Auxiliary, and a former member of Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge and Grandma's Pitch Club, all at Tribune.

On March 1, 1941, she married Harry E. Hutchison at Greensburg. He died Aug. 29, 1974, at Kansas City. She was also preceded in death by a brother and six sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Preston Scott Hutchison, Hershey, Neb., and Harry Lynn Hutchison, Grand Island, Neb.; two daughters, Beth Ann Hulsey, Lakin, and Kay Marcy, Oakley; two brothers, George Preston and Claude Preston, both of Dodge City; a sister, Blanche Hood, Montezuma; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. MST Thursday at First Baptist Church, Tribune, with Carley Hazelton officiating. Burial will be 4 p.m. CST Thursday in Bucklin Cemetery, Bucklin.

Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. MST Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Tribune. Memorials are suggested to High Plains Retirement Village, in care of the funeral home, Box 161, Leoti, KS 67861.

Adelaide Keeley

Vigil service for Adelaide Keeley, 81, of Garden City, will be 7 tonight at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Garden City, followed by the church rosary. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Joseph Bahr as celebrant. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Mrs. Keeley died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Western Plains Regional Complex in Dodge City.

She was born March 12, 1920, at Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Peter and Anna (Cizauskas) Nassau.

A Garden City resident since 1985, moving from Flushing, N.Y., she had worked for the City of New York Parking Meter Division. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, was in charge of the parish prayer chain and spent extra time in prayer for others. She volunteered for Emmaus House, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

On Jan. 25, 1947, she married Howard J. Keeley at Cypress Hills, N.Y. He died Feb. 2, 1970, at Jamaica, N.Y. She was also preceded in death by two sisters.

Survivors include a son, Robert P. Keeley, Palm Bay, Fla.; a daughter, Diane Fleming, Garden City; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation hours are until 6 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to Emmaus House or the Finney County Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home, 620 N. Main St.
