Blanche Lola Cook

TRIBUNE - Graveside service for Blanche Lola Cook, 85, of Tribune, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Winona Cemetery, Winona, with the Rev. Kerry Grogan officiating.

Mrs. Cook died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Greeley County Long Term Care in Tribune.

She was born July 23, 1916, in Gove County, the daughter of Levi Hoyt and Nellie Mabel (Hutchinson) Cook. She had lived in Tribune since 1970, moving from Garden City.

Survivors include two sisters, Crystal Link, Scott City, and Velma Mastin, Oakley. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Clyde, Art, Everett, Leo, Bill, Orville and Don Cook; and a sister, Fern Cook.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton. Memorials are suggested to Greeley County Long Term Care, in care of the funeral home.

Vernon Leroy "Ty" Tyson

ULYSSES - Vernon Leroy "Ty" Tyson, 90, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses.

He was born Oct. 11, 1911, at South Haven, the son of Garfield and Ellen (Ford) Tyson. He graduated from North High School in Wichita.

Mr. Tyson was retired from the City of Wichita after working as a public works inspector for 21 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 138, Midian Shrine, Bestor Brown Lodge AF & AM, was past commander of the AmVets, and was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, all at Wichita.

Survivors include a brother, Bunt Tyson, Seattle; three brothers/sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary Carpenter of Hamilton, Harold and Olive Greenwood of Madison, and Harold and Fern Carpenter of Boise, Idaho; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearle; and two brothers, Coy and Frank Tyson.

Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in White Chapel Cemetery, Wichita.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lakeview Funeral Home, Wichita. Memorials are suggested to Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses or the American Cancer Society, both in care of the funeral home, 12100 E. 13th St., Wichita, KS 67206.

Sister Clementine Kreutzer

The wake for Sister Clementine Kreutzer, 86, of Wichita, will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Adorers of the Blood of Christ, Wichita Center, with the funeral there at 11 a.m. Monday.

She died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001.

Born July 4, 1915, at Liebenthal, she was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Werth) Kreutzer.

A dietitian and domestic worker for the bishop, she cared for the elderly in their homes and was an elementary music teacher.

Survivors include four sisters, Otellia Dater, Hays, Clementine Brungardt, Wichita, Ludwine Horning and Verna Johnson, both of Garden City. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marie; and a brother, Fred.

Memorials are suggested to Retirement of Sisters, ASC, 1165 SW Blvd., Wichita, KS 67213.

DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.

Agnes Unruh

MONTEZUMA - Agnes Unruh, 92, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma, where she had been a resident for seven years.

Born Aug. 27, 1909, at Coy, Okla., she was the daughter of Benjamin C. and Eva (Unruh) Unruh. When she was young, the family moved from Coy to Montezuma.

She cleaned homes and offices for many years, worked for a doctor in his clinic and did his home cleaning for 25 years, and worked at the high school cafeteria for 15 years. She was a member of Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Montezuma.

She is survived by a brother, John Unruh, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Amanda Brown, Rio Vista, Calif., and Evalena Schmidt, Montezuma; two sisters-in-law, Esther Unruh, Montezuma, and Jane Unruh, Fairview, Okla.; seven nephews; and five nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Elias, Daniel and Jacob Unruh; and three sisters, Marie Garton, Susanna Jones and Carolina Unruh.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Montezuma. Charles Schmidt and Glen Yost, ministers, will officiate. Burial will be in North Mennonite Cemetery, Montezuma.

Visitation hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Montezuma Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home Inc., in care of the funeral home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.

Friend Stevenson

Tribune - Funeral for Friend Stevenson, 98 will be 10:30 a.m. (MT) Monday at the Assembly of God Church, Tribune, with the Rev. Mike Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune.

Mr. Stevenson died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 at the Helmwood Long Term Care Center, Tribune.

He was born Nov. 22, 1903 in Taylor County, Iowa, the son of Ora W. and Essie Wood Stevenson.

A Tribune resident since 1925, moving from Rawlins County, Kansas. He was a farmer and rancher.

On May 21,1940, he married Mary Woods in Goodland, Kansas. She survives. He is also survived by one son, Lavern Stevenson, Tribune; two daughters, Mary Ann Allison, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Venita Schlotfeldt, Paige, Texas; one brother, Joe Stevenson, Clearfield, Iowa; and one sister, Birdie Sramek, Rifle, Colorado; and one cousin; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one son and two grandsons.

Visitation hours are 9 a.m. until 8 p.m (MT) Saturday; 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday; until service time Monday, at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Tribune. Memorials are suggested to Helmwood Long Term Care Center or Salvation Army, in care of the funeral home.

Merle Bangs

ULYSSES - Graveside inurnment service for Merle Bangs, 79, will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Ulysses Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Harrold officiating.

Mr. Bangs died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

A farmer, he was born Aug. 11, 1922, at Liberal, the son of Floyd and Bessie (Richardson) Bangs. He graduated from Grant County High School.

On Jan. 11, 1978, he married Viola A. Emerson at Las Vegas. She survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Peggy Peden Lofland, Ulysses, and Mary Wirz, Kenai, Alaska; three grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Forsman, Peggy Tarbet and Jane Eddie, all of Ulysses; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Memorials to the donor's choice may be sent in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant St., Ulysses, KS 67880.

Octaviano Michael Brown

Graveside service for Octaviano Michael Brown, the infant son of Michael Brown and Crystal Florez of Dodge City, was to be 10 this morning in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, with the Rev. Dr. Michael Gardner officiating.

Octaviano died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at the Women's Center in Dodge City.

He was born Nov. 20, 2001, in Dodge City.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by three half brothers, Clarence Brown, Michael Brown Jr., and Romaldo G. Gabaro, all of Garden City; a half sister, Cortney Perez, Dodge City; his grandparents, Robert and Mary Florez, Virgil Brown and Margie Hernandez, all of Dodge City; his great-grandparents, Lupe Torrez, Wichita, Margaret Blea and Stella Hernandez, both of Dodge City; and his godparents, Robert Sr. and Celeste G. Florez, Dodge City. He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, William "Willie" Octaviano Salas Blea.

Memorials are suggested to the Octaviano Michael Brown Fund for research of stillborn infants, in care of Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.

Mark L. Stewart Sr.

SCOTT CITY - Funeral for Mark L. Stewart Sr., 63, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Nazarene, Scott City, with the Rev. Loren Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

Mr. Stewart died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at his home in Scott City.

He was born Feb. 11, 1938, at Scott City, the son of Leal A. and Augusta (Zedren) Stewart.

A Scott City resident since 1960, moving from Shields, he was a retired appliance repairman.

On Sept. 12, 1960, he married Faye Cranmer at Scott City. She survives. He is also survived by three sons, Mark L. Stewart, Tribune, Don D. Stewart, Aurora, Colo., and Darin R. Stewart, Hays; a daughter, Pamela F. Smith, Scott City; his parents, Lake St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Wayne Stewart, Bartlesville, Okla.; a sister, Karen Singleton, Lake St. Louis; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.
