Orvan G. Johnson, 87, of Winfield, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at his home. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 14. The family will greet friends from 5 until 6 p.m. Friday. A memorial has been established for Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Velma G. Poovey, 94, of rural Oxford, died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at her home. Service arrangements are pending and will be announced by Oxford Funeral Service of Oxford. A memorial has been established with the Oxford United Methodist Church. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Melvin L. Dellenbaugh, 79, of Newton, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Newton Medical Center, Newton. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at First Presbyterian Church in Newton, with the Rev. James Anderson officiating. Memorials have been established for the First Presbyterian Church and the Kansas Christian Home. Contributions may be made in care of the funeral home.

Carmen Zavala, 70, of Wichita, formerly of Arkansas City, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at the Medicalodge Health Care Center of Wichita. The Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. today, March 14, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Arkansas City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at the church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. The Rev. John Brungardt will officiate. A memorial has been established with Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Arrangements are being made by Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.

John Lee Blatchford, 64, of Arkansas City, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the First United Methodist Church in Arkansas City. Interment will follow in the Springside Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the Arkansas City FFA. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City is in charge of arrangements.

Jeane Wartick, 80, of Oxford, died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at her home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, at the United Methodist Church, Oxford. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery. Memorials have been established with the Oxford United Methodist Church and with Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Oxford Funeral Service, Oxford.

Robert Kenneth "Bob" Jordan Jr., 59, of Arkansas City, died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at his home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home with Jesse A. Kindred officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Harry Hynes Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Funeral services for Justin Hiram "Jim" Musson, 90, Arkansas City, who died Sunday, March 2, 2003, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, with Rev. Lance Carrithers of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Hope Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Funeral services for Evelyn Audrey Goatley-Henkel, 82, Arkansas City, who died Monday, March 3, 2003, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, at the First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Don Goatley of Hiawatha and Pastor James Newman officiating. Interment was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Graveside services for Carl Eugene Wixon, 69, Arkansas City, who died Monday, March 3, 2003, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, in the Newkirk City Cemetery with Brother Mark Foster officiating. Military honors were by VFW Spencer-Ralston Post No. 1254, Arkansas City, with Commander Clyde H. Hatcher and Chaplain Bob Banta.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Larry Jones, 63, Newkirk, Okla., died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements are pending and under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Lawn B. Sauer, 89, Winfield, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at his home. A memorial service celebrating his life and ministry will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2003, (Palm Sunday) at Tisdale United Methodist Church. Memorials have been established with the Sunflower Outreach Services (Joseph's Storehouse), Horizon United Methodist Center, Harry Hynes Hospice and the Tisdale United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Bernice Lucille Meixner, 86, Oberlin, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Decatur County Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at Pauls Funeral Home with Pastor Royce Leitner officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the Bernice L. Meixner Memorial Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Edith Mae Lussier, 85, Winfield, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at Winfield Rest Haven Nursing Home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at the White Chapel Gardens Cemetery in Wichita. Friends may call at the funeral home until 8 p.m. today.

Alma J. Brown, 99, Winfield, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at Cumbernauld Village. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at the Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel in Winfield. Interment will be in the Burden City Cemetery. A memorial was established for the First Presbyterian Church of Winfield.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home.

Velma Malissia Boswell, 84, Derby, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at her residence. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hackney.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Joan Rosalie Burns, 70, Wichita, retired KDOT officer manager, died Saturday, March 15, 2003. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hillside Funeral Home "East" Wichita.

Funeral services for John L. Blatchford, 64, Arkansas City, who died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, were conducted at 1 p.m Saturday, March 15, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Daryl W. Befort officiating. Interment was in Springside Cemetery. Military honors were by Spencer-Ralston VFW Post No. 1254, with Commander Clyde H. Hatcher and Chaplain Bob Banta.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Helen Waite, 99, Winfield, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at Cumbernauld Village. Private family interment will be held this week and a memorial service will be held the weekend of her 100th birthday, Saturday, April 26, 2003. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. Thursday. A memorial has been established for Southwestern College. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. The family also requests that if you wish to send floral arrangements, that they be sent only for the memorial service on April 26.

Larry D. Jones, 63, Newkirk, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center as the result of injuries sustained in a moter vehicle accident. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003, in Highland Cemetery in Winfield with Brother Jess Fisher officiating. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Gerald, John and Lester.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Teresa L. Killingsworth, 48, Dexter, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at William Newton Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. today. A memorial has been established for the American Lung Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Graveside services for Clarence Henry Artherton, 86, Arkansas City, who died Monday, March 10, 2003, were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2003, with President Tom Scott of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery. Military honors were by VFW Spencer-Ralston Post No, 1254 with Commander Clyde H. Hatcher and Chaplain Bob Banta.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Ethel Christine (Chris) Beard, 71, Udall, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at her home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2003, at the Udall United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Udall Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Midian Shriners Plane of Mercy and Harry Hynes Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
