Marvin E. Rouse 1950-2000
GARDEN CITY - Marvin E. Rouse, 50, died March 7 at Garden City. He was
born Jan. 23, 1950, at La Harpe, Ill., the son of Gerrard E. and Mary
Eileen Bennett Rouse. He married Dona J. Prochl Dec. 31, 1999, at Garden
City. A Garden City resident since 1972, coming from Illinois, he was a
professional drag racer and the owner/operator of Classic Chevy Sales of
Garden City.
Rouse was a member of National Hot Rod Association.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Tyler Rouse of Dodge City;
one daughter, Natalie Rouse of Manhattan; his parents of Macomb, Ill.;
three sisters, Ketura Brueck of Burlington, Iowa, Loretta Thomann of
Middleton, Iowa, and Ila Peterson of Galesburg, Ill.
Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Burkhart Funeral Chapel in
Dodge City with the Rev. E. Kim Engleking officiating. There will be no
visitation as cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials are
suggested to Drag Racers Association of Women (DRAW, ) in care of the
funeral home.

Dorothy S. Tritsch 1918-2000
HOLYROOD - Dorothy S. Tritsch, 81, died March 8 at Hutchinson Hospital in
Hutchinson. She was born June 23, 1918, at Otis, Colo., the daughter of
Louis and Bertha Schlechte Wenz. She married Milton Tritsch June 15, 1943,
at Colby. A resident of the Holyrood and Bushton areas for 56 years, she
was a homemaker.
Mrs. Tritsch was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Holyrood.
Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Walter A. Tritsch of
Hutchinson; one brother, Elmer Wenz of Bloomingdale, Ill.; one sister, Ella
Warnke of Stillwater, Minn.; two grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Erwin
Wenz, Arlin Wenz and Wilbur Wenz.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. John Sharp
officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends
may call from 1-5 p.m. today at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth. The
casket will remain closed. Memorials are suggested to The Lutheran Hour and
Ozanam Home, Kansas City, Mo., in care of the funeral home.

Glenn L. Pentz 1932-2000
KIOWA - Glenn L. Pentz, 68, died March 8 at Kiowa District Hospital in
Kiowa. He was born Feb. 19, 1932, at Ashland, the son of Lester and Mamie
Hughes Pentz. He married Valeta Gene Gregg Dec. 28, 1952, at Nickerson. She
died July 29, 1984. He then married Joan Dierksen Nov. 10, 1985, at
Anthony. He was a 1950 graduate of Ashland High School. A resident of Kiowa
since 1977, he worked for Contel Telephone company for 37 years, then
operated Pentz Communications from 1987 until his death.
Pentz was a member of United Methodist Church of Kiowa, Lions Club, Kiowa
Chapter, Bowling Association, lifetime member of National Rifle
Association, and former member of Eagles Lodge of Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Darrel Pentz of Pretty
Prairie and Delmar Pentz of Macksville; one daughter, Denise Creech of
Auburn; three stepsons, Tim Dierksen of Medicine Lodge, Chris Dierksen of
Wellington and Todd Dierksen of Redfield; two sisters, Martha Williamson
and Peggy Reed, both of Ashland; six grandchildren; nine step
grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one
brother, Perry Pentz; and one sister, Norma German.
Funeral was today at the church with the Rev. Bill Dyar officiating. Burial
will be at 3 p.m. at Highland cemetery in Ashland. Memorials are suggested
to Lions Club, Kiowa Chapter, or the church, both in care of the funeral
home.

Agnes Staab 1916-2000
ELLINWOOD - Agnes Staab, 83, died March 9 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Rose Campus, in Great Bend. She was born May 13, 1916, at
Gorham, the daughter of Anton and Catherine Elizabeth Bieker Mermis. She
married Norbert Staab April 21, 1936, at Gorham. A long time resident of
Ellinwood, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Staab was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Altar Society,
Daughters of Isabella and Garden Club, all of Ellinwood, was active in
scouting and was president of Kansas Democratic Women for one year.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, Myron Staab and Kent
Staab, both of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jay Staab of Phoenix, Ariz.; two
daughters, Stephanie Staab of Salisbury, Md., and Cindy Luxem of Topeka;
six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by three brothers; and eight sisters.
Altar Society Rosary will be at 3 p.m. Sunday with parish vigil at 7 p.m.,
both at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
Monday at the church with the Revs. Joseph Bahr and James Roth officiating.
Burial will be at Lakin-Comanche District cemetery in Ellinwood. Friends
may call from 1-9 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral
home. Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph School Endowment Fund, in
care of the funeral home.

Katherine Dyer 1910-2000
HITCHCOCK, Okla. - Katherine Dyer, 89, died March 6 at Watonga, Okla. She
married Homer George Dyer July 20, 1926, at Great Bend. He preceded her in
death. A resident of Hitchcock since 1969, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Dyer was a member of the Methodist Church and Rebekah's.
Survivors include one son, Paul Dyer of Great Bend; one daughter, Barbara
Wray of Watonga; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, James
Herbert Dyer and Larry Wayne Dyer; one brother, two sisters; and two
grandsons.
Graveside services were held today at Cottonwood cemetery in Hitchcock with
the Rev. Russell Murrell officiating. Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga was in
charge of arrangements.

Earl Miller Jr. 1926-2000
HANSTON - Earl Miller Jr., 73, died March 7 at his home. He was born Aug.
12, 1926, north of Burdett, the son of Earl and Nellie Ruff Miller. He
married Virginia Marie Trauer June 10, 1945, at Burdett. A lifetime
resident of Hanston, he was a farmer and had worked for Northern Natural
Gas Plant.
Miller was a member of First Baptist Church, Marion Township cemetery Board
and past school board member, all of Hanston.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Rodney Miller of Dodge
City; two daughters, Nancy Will of Poteau, Okla., and Sandra Pedigo of
Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, Jack Miller of Golden, Colo.; three
sisters, Genevieve Anderson of Winnsboro, Texas, Helen Nuckolls of Wichita
and Hope Dooley of Fernley, Nev.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by one sister, Maxine.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Gary Winget
officiating. Burial will be at Hanston cemetery in Hanston. Friends may
call until 8 tonight at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore. Memorials are
suggested to American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.

Carl Thielen 1915-2000
WILSON - Carl Thielen, 85, died March 6 at Ellsworth Country Medical
Center in Ellsworth. He was born Feb. 8, 1915, at Dorrance, the son of Fred
and Mary Carl Thielen. He married Verna Whitmer Nov. 28, 1935, at Russell.
A resident of Wilson, he was a farmer and stockman.
Thielen was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church and Knights of Columbus, both
of Wilson.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Nick Thielen of Olathe;
two daughters, Nancy Gieber of Randolph, N.J., and Margery Lawson of Sylvan
Grove; two sisters, Loretta Dunahue of Houston, Texas and Mary Ostmeyer of
Colby; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Vigil service will be at 7:30 tonight at Foster Mortuary Chapel in Wilson.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Jerome Morgan
officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's cemetery in Dorrance. Friends
may call until 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to
the Catholic Church building fund or donor's choice, in care of the funeral
home.

Richard Max Dickey 1936-2000
AMARILLO, Texas - Richard Max Dickey, 63, died Feb. 25 at Amarillo. He was
born March 20, 1936, at Amherst, Texas, the son of Douglas and Ethel May
Levacy. He and his wife, Joyce, married in 1959. A resident of Amarillo,
having lived in Hoisington for nine years, he retired from Walmart in
1998.
Dickey attended Great Bend Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran,
having retired as a lieutenant colonel.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Doug Dickey of Omaha,
Neb., and Alan Dickey of Burlington, Colo; one daughter, Jenifer Golden of
Amarillo; one sister, Mary Lou Brown of Great Bend; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marianne Dickey.
Funeral was Monday at Southwest Church of Christ in Amarillo. Memorials are
suggested to High Plains Children's Home in Amarillo. Rector Funeral Home
in Amarillo was in charge of arrangements.

Harry Lang 1919-2000
DODGE CITY - Harry Lang, 80, died March 6 at Manor of the Plains in Dodge
City. He was born July 7, 1919, at Jetmore the son of John Edwin and Lena
Rice Lange. He married Eula Fern Deyoe Aug. 9, 1952, at Jetmore. A lifetime
resident of Jetmore, moving to Dodge City in the past two years, he was
postmaster for Jetmore Post Office for 32 years before retiring and was
formerly the Hodgeman County Clerk.
Lang was a member of United Presbyterian Church, church elder, Lion's Club
life member, Red Cross chairman, member of American Legion, a volunteer
fireman and Boy Scout leader, all of Jetmore; and was a life member of
Veterans of Foreign Wars of Dodge City. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include one son, Joe Allen Lang of Wichita; four daughters, Judy
Semenuk of Mt. Airy, Md., Anita Lang of Warsaw, Mo., Laura Burnside of
Sarasota, Fla., Connie Jobe of Dodge City; and five grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by one son, Roger Lang; and one brother, Edwin Lang Jr.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Revs. Keith
Allison and Dave Clipson officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery
in Jetmore with military graveside rites. Friends may call until 8 tonight,
9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Beckwith
Funeral Home in Jetmore. Memorials are suggested to Harry Lang Memorial
Scholarship Fund, in care of the funeral home.
