Ella A. Fradd 1900-2000
Ella A. Fradd, 100, died June 4 at Integrated Health Services of Great
Bend. She was born Jan. 9, 1900, in Barton County, the daughter of Frank W.
and Emma Christine Springer Chambers. She married
Bert H. Fradd April 11,
1917, at Great Bend. He died May 19, 1975. A lifetime resident of Barton
County, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Fradd was a member of First Christian Church and Eagles Auxiliary,
both of Great Bend.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth A. Fradd Sr. of Great Bend; one
daughter, Hellen Louise Bishop of Sun City, Ariz.; one sister, Glenda
Wagner of Lincoln, Neb.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Great Bend cemetery with
the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until
9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until noon Thursday at Bryant-Christians
Funeral Home in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer
Society or to the church, both in care of the funeral home.

Ronald Otis Scantlin 1925-2000
Ronald Otis Scantlin, 74, died June 4 at Integrated Health Services of
Woodhaven in Ellinwood. He was born Aug. 30, 1925, at Haviland, the son of
Jesse Otis and Joy Ray Scantlin. He married
Elfrieda Ann Kinzel June 22,
1959, at Odin. She died Jan. 30, 1992. A resident of Great Bend, coming
from Pratt, he was a retail clothing salesman.
Scantlin was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He
was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
There will be no service. Inurnment will be at the Holy Family cemetery at
Odin at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Bryant-Christians
Funeral Home in Great Bend.

Dr. Richard Herold 1929-2000
LONGMONT, Colo. - Richard Herold, 71, died June 4. He was born Feb. 14,
1929, at Ellinwood. He was a 1960 graduate of the University of Kansas City
School of Dentistry. He married
Ruby Cole in 1950 at Great Bend. A resident
of Longmont, coming from Littleton, Colo., and Great Bend, he was a dentist
in Great Bend from 1960-1976 and in Littleton from 1976 until his
retirement in 1992.
Herold was a member of the Shrine and Masonic Organization and Delta Sigma
Delta International Dental Fraternity. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army
Signal Corp, having served in Korea. In 1986, Herold and his wife were
active in establishing Heritage College of Health Careers in Denver, Colo.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Dana Gettel and
Denise Kramlich, both of Longmont; one brother, Don Herold of Great Bend;
one sister, Norma Colvin of Ellinwood; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Congregational United Church in
Longmont. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Boulder County, 1855 Plaza
Dr., Loisville, Colo., 80027, or to the church, 1500 9th Ave., Longmont,
Colo., 80501.

Bertha Denning 1914-2000
VICTORIA - Bertha Denning, 85, died June 5 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in
Lawrence. She was born Nov. 16, 1914, at Victoria, the daughter of Joseph
P. and Magdalena Windholz Scheck. She married
Richard Denning Oct. 30,
1939, at Victoria. He died Jan. 7, 1985. A longtime resident of Victoria,
she was a homemaker and owner of a draperies and upholstery shop until 1983.
Mrs. Denning was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria.
Survivors include one son, Donald Denning of St. Loius, Mo.; one daughter,
Darlene Ward of Lawrence; five brothers, Peter Scheck of Great Bend, Edwin
Scheck and Melvin Scheck, both of Russell, Linus Scheck of Macksville and
Gilbert Scheck of Hays; four sisters, Mary Wiegel, Katie Scheck and Lena
Meder, all of Victoria, and Rubina Dinkel of Oakley; two grandchildren; and
one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Seraphin
Scheck and Victor Scheck; and one sister, Leona Scheck.
Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Cline's Mortuary in
Victoria. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev.
Frank X. Grinko officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery in
Victoria. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30-9:45 a.m.
Friday, all at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the church building
repair fund, Visiting Nurses Association of Lawrence or Masses, all in care
of the funeral home.

Betty V. King 1931-2000
LARNED - Betty V. King, 69, died June 3 at Central Kansas Medical Center,
St. Joseph Campus in Larned. She was born Jan. 22, 1931, in Burdett, the
daughter of Robert and Ellen Jones Olsen. She married
James W. King Dec.
11, 1949, in Larned. He died Feb. 23, 1993. A Larned resident since 1973,
coming from California, she was a bank teller and homemaker.
Mrs. King was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Larned.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Skinner of Flower Mound, Texas; one
brother, Martin Olsen of Burdett; six sisters, Stella Klein of Lefors,
Texas, Ila Hampton of Larned, Laura Dovel of Northglenn, Colo., Vera Arthur
of Alpine, Wyo., Patricia "Jody" Mitchell of Garfield and Lena Simmons of
Greensburg; and one grandson.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned.
Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight, from 9

Amelia Nettleingham 1905-2000
HOISINGTON - Amelia Nettleingham, 94, died June 3 at Clara Barton Hospital
in Hoisington. She was born July 2, 1905, in Russell County near Milberger,
the daughter of John K. and Lydia Steinert Nuss. She married
Guy L.
Nettleingham Sept. 15, 1921, in Great Bend. He died Oct. 25, 1979. A
resident of Hoisington since 1950, coming from a farm near Galatia, she was
a homemaker.
Mrs. Nettleingham was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women
Missionary League and Heritage Club, all of Hoisington.
Survivors include two sons, LaVerne Nettleingham of Galatia and Albert
Nettleingham of Spencer, Okla.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren;
and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one
daughter, Marlene Morrison; three brothers, Leo Nuss, Edward Nuss and Paul
Nuss; one sister, Rachel Wiedeman; and one step-granddaughter, Susan Curran.
Prayer service will be at 7:30 tonight at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in
Hoisington. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the
Rev. Garry Dassow officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington Cemetery.
Friends may call until 9 tonight and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Tuesday
at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or Clara Barton
Foundation, in care of the funeral home.

William 'Bill' Mog 1908-2000
MESA, Ariz. - William "Bill" Mog, 91, died May 20 at his home in Mesa,
Ariz. He was born Sept. 12, 1908, in Wilson, the son of George and Anna
Smischny Mog. He married
Nora Loree King April 12, 1939, in Ellis. She died
June 6, 1976. He married
Rosa McElroy April 20, 1986, in Mesa. A former
resident of Larned, he had been a teacher in Great Bend and Hudson schools
and former operator of the Champlain service station in Larned.
Mog was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church in Albert and former
Masonic Lodge member of Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Sue Seeman and Donna
Hanken, both of Larned; one stepson, Larry McElroy of Mesa, Ariz.; one
stepdaughter, Joann Wilde of Hamilton, Ill.; two brothers, Everett Mog of
Dorrance and Marvin Mog of Anaheim, Calif.; three sisters, Leona Mellecker
of Dodge City, Edith Stratmann of Holyrood and Gladys Sherwin of Livermore,
Calif.; four granddaughters; eight great-granddaughters; and four
step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ira Mog and
Sinnie Mog; and two sisters, Clarice Johnson and Mabel Johansen.
Graveside inurnment will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Larned cemetery with the
Rev. Jim Hawthorne officiating. Memorials are suggested to American Heart
Association and American Cancer Society, both in care of Morell Funeral
Oliver Herdman 1922-2000
MCCRACKEN - Oliver Herdman, 77, died May 30 at Hays Medical Center, Hadley
Campus, in Hays. He was born Oct. 9, 1922, on a farm near Ogala, the son of
Charles A. and Josephine Oliver Herdman. He married
Willetta Gorden Aug.
10, 1941, at Bison. A lifetime resident of Rush County, he was a John Deere
manager for 30 years. He also worked as a farmer, La Crosse school bus
driver, Bazine school custodian and was the owner of Family Parlor Cafe and
Herdman Liquor.
Herdman was a member of United Methodist Church in McCracken and Eagle Order.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Harold Herdman of
McCracken, Leroy Herdman of Aurora, Colo., and Terry Herdman of Blacksburg,
Va.; one daughter, Glenda Pfannenstiel of Hutchinson; 13 grandchildren; and
19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Vergene
Herdman; two sisters, Josphene Herdman and Charlotte Giess; and one
granddaughter, Sharolyn Herdman.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Marilyn
Christmore officiating. Burial will be at the McCracken Cemetery. Friends
may call until 9 tonight at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse. Memorials
are suggested to the church or the emergency medical technicians in
McCracken, both in care of the funeral home.
