Eugene Warner Hall 1920-2002
LARNED - Eugene Warner Hall, 81, died Aug. 1, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned. He was born Sept. 11, 1920 at Garfield, the son of Clarence Warner and Erma Mae Wolfe Hall. He married Cecilia Amelia Penka, Aug. 7, 1947. A lifetime resident of Pawnee County, he was a retired stockman and farmer. Hall was a member of United Methodist Church, past member of Garfield Lyons Club, Pleasant Ridge Township trustee for 30 years, and served on the Garfield Co-op Board for nine years, all of Garfield. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Steven E. Hall of Garfield; four daughters, Annelle J. Buehler of Seminole, Fla., Mary Beth Norris of Largo, Fla., Cynthia S. Cline of Garfield and Karen M. Stacey of Ashland; three sisters, Virginia Goldsberry, Betty Nan Williams and Wanda Johnson, all of Larned; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Brett Hall and Amy Buehler. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned, with the Rev. Ken Walker officiating. Burial will be at Garfield Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, and until service time Tuesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or American Heart Association, both in care of the funeral home. August 4, 2002

Cheryl R. Clinesmith 1943-2002
DODGE CITY - Cheryl R. Clinesmith, 59, died July 31 at Select Specialty Hospital in Wichita. She was born April 15, 1943, at Pratt, the daughter of Charles and Minnie Kuhn Dipman. She was a graduate of Pratt High School. She married Ted Clinesmith Feb. 9, 1963, at Pratt. A resident of Dodge City since 1967, coming from Pratt, she was a customer relations representative for Sunflower Bank. Mrs. Clinesmith was a member of Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and former member of Sweet Adelines, both of Dodge City. Survivors include her husband of the home; three daughters, Tresha Clinesmith-Wilhelm of Viola, Karen Walsh of Garden Plain, and Cetra Calleros of Parker, Colo.; her parents of Pratt; three brothers, Cliff Dipman of Manhattan, David Dipman of Olathe and Mark Dipman of Pratt; three sisters, Ann Fenwick of Wichita, Norma Voss of Pratt, and Penni Gard of Kokomo, Ind; and six grandchildren. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. tonight at the church. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Ted Skalsky officiating. Graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Greenlawn cemetery in Pratt. Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. today at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City. The casket will remain closed. Memorials are suggested to Select Specialty Educational Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home. August 4, 2002

Hazel Osborn Bird 1910-2002
MCPHERSON - Hazel Osborn Bird, 91, died Aug. 1 at Pleasant View Home in Inman. She was born Sept. 1, 1910 at Oktaha, Okla., the daughter of George Henry and Mary Neoma Prene Mitchell. She was a graduate of Augusta High School in Augusta. She married Earnest David Osborn, April 29, 1931, at Wichita. He died Aug. 5, 1973. She married Vernon T. Bird, May 1, 1983, at McPherson. He died Sept. 7, 1984. A resident of Inman, coming from McPherson and Windom, she was a homemaker and head cook for Windom School in Windom. Mrs. Bird was a member of First Baptist Church, Fidelis Sunday School Class, Afterglow Circle, Christian Women's Club, Church Women United and Jolly Workers Club, all of McPherson, American Baptist Women Ministries, former member of the Friendly Hour Club and Conway Co-workers Unit. Survivors include two sons, Raymond G. Osborn of Inman and Richard D. Osborn of Sutherland, Neb.; four daughters, Betty Mohr of Wichita, Mary J. Milam of Goddard, Linda Bethel of Ellinwood and Anita Leach of McPherson; 19 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen Mitchell and Leonard Mitchell; two grandchildren, Landis Osborn and Scott Daniel Osborn; and one great-great grandson, Christopher Scott Osborn. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Les Cantrell officiating. Burial will be at Windom cemetery in Windom. Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. today, with the family receiving friends from 3-5 p.m., at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home in McPherson. Memorials are suggested to the church or the First Baptist Church Youth Group, both in care of the funeral home. August 4, 2002

Edith K. Davis 1906-2002
LARNED - Edith K. Davis, 96, died Aug. 2 at Foxwood Springs Care Center in Raymore, Mo. She was born April 17, 1906, at Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Samuel Willis and Kate D. Smith Hibbs. She was a 1927 graduate of University of Kansas in Lawrence. She married Dr. D. Homer Davis on June 11, 1930, at Kansas City. He died Aug. 11, 1988. A longtime resident of Larned, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Davis was a member of First Christian Church, Christian Women Fellowship and past member of PTA, all of Larned, and the American Association of University Women. Survivors include one son, Glen E. Davis of Leawood; three daughters, Kathleen Swihart of Arlington, Va., Virginia Moore of Primghar, Iowa, and Elaine Shanley of Wakefield, R.I.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Lambert Hibbs. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Revs. Dan Lundgren and Ron Keith officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. Tuesday and until service time Wednesday, all at Morell Funeral Home in Larned. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church or KU Endowment Fund for Mental Health, in care of the funeral home. August 4, 2002

Janet Rose Campbell Thompson 1926-2002
TULSA, Okla. - Janet Rose Campbell Thompson, 77, died July 31 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was born April 4, 1926 in Grant, the daughter of Orville Richard and Frances Barbara Chlumsky Campbell. She was a graduate of Great Bend High School. She married James C. Thompson. She was a resident of the Brookside area of Tulsa. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, Thomas L. Thompson and Rob V. Thompson, both of Tulsa, and James C. Thompson of Fort Gibson, Okla.; one brother, Orville R. Campbell of Hoisington; one sister, Virginia Weeks of Great Bend; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Geneva Reader. Memorial service was Saturday in Chapel of Saints Valley at Memorial Park cemetery in Tulsa. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul United Methodist Church Children's Ministries, 2130 W. Okmulgee, Muskogee, OK 74401. Ninde Funeral Directors of Tulsa were in charge of arrangements.

Perry L. Gugins
LARNED - Perry L. Gugins, 44, died Aug. 1 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born April 22, 1958, in Wichita, the son of David and Donna Bryant Gugins. He married Rose M. Gugins on Feb. 2, 1976, in Larned. A resident of Kinsley for 26 years, he was a machinist. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Gary Lynn Gugins of Medicine Lodge; his mother, Donna Ramirez of Lewis; and three sisters, Betty Ann Haney and Janet Marie Tauscher, both of Larned, and Karen Lou Weiser of Scottsdale, Ariz. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Gugins.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Larned cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Reed officiating. Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to service time Monday, both at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned. Memorials are suggested to Perry Gugins Memorial Fund, in care of the mortuary. Aug. 4, 2002

Marjorie A. Jacobs 1932-2002
JETMORE - Marjorie A. Jacobs, 70, died July 31 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita. She was born May 12, 1932, at Douglas, the daughter of Walter Zeke and Bessie Leola Morrison Essex. She married Melvin R. Jacobs on June 9, 1956, at Plains. A resident of Jetmore for 39 years, she was a music teacher for 32 years until her retirement. Mrs. Jacobs was a member of Saint Lawrence Catholic Church in Jetmore, Kansas Music Educational Association, Kansas National Educational Association, National Educational Association, Altar Society, Parish Council, Delta Pi and the church choir. Survivors include her husband of the home; four sons, Rob Jacobs of Kinsley, Evan Jacobs and Philbert Jacobs, both of Jetmore, and Nathan Jacobs of Dodge City; two daughters, Vanessa Bamberger and Amy Rudzik, both of Jetmore; one brother, Robert Essex of Loveland, Colo.; and 17 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Jacobs and Harold Jacobs; five sisters, Mary, Clara, Phyllis, Betty and Alberta; and one grandson, Nathaniel Adams Jacobs. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Bob Schremmer officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount cemetery in Jetmore. Friends may call until 8 tonight, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, and from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, all at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore. Memorials are suggested to Jetmore Music Department, in care of the funeral home. Aug. 2, 2002

Carlee Jessica Linenberger 2002-2002
HAYS - Carlee Jessica Linenberger, 3 months, died July 31 at Hays Medical Center. She was born April 27 at Hays, the daughter of Chris and Kimberly Kern Linenberger. Survivors include her parents of Hays; one sister, Kenzie, of the home; her grandparents, Ruth and Mike Johnson of Great Bend and Roger and Virginia Linenberger of Hays; and her great-grandparents, Mary Ann Linenberger of Hays and Melvin and Veronica Barry of Manhattan. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph cemetery in Hays with the Rev. Ben Colucci officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hays. Aug. 2, 2002

Kermit C. Knudson 1913-2002
WICHITA - Kermit C. Knudson, 89, died July 30 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. He was born April 14, 1913, at Gem. He married Helen Fausett Logan in 1986. A resident of Wichita for 16 years, coming from Colby, he was a retired sheep rancher, grain farmer and owner of Colby Motel. Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Jay Knudson of Great Bend, Jon Knudson of Guthrie, Okla., and Jeff Knudson of Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters, Kerma Kutz of Beach City, Ohio, Jana Logan of McCook, Neb., and Judy Barridge of Harrison, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Dorothy Seacat of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four sisters, Therma Neff of Billingham, Wash., Juanita Cox of Colby, Lee Turner of Chicago, Ill., and Eunice Dechert of California; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at White Chapel cemetery in Wichita with the Rev. Keith Koch officiating. Memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, in care of Broadway Mortuary in Wichita. Aug. 1, 2002

Rosa Carole Staub 1920-2002
ST. JOHN - Rosa Carole Staub, 82, died July 31 at Lakewood Heights Care Home in Wichita. She was born Feb. 10, 1920, the daughter of Ted and Phoebe Risk Drake. She married Godfrey Staub on July 16, 1938, at St. John. He died April 24, 1978. A resident of Wichita, coming from St. John, she was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Kenny Staub and Randy Staub, both of Wichita; three brothers, Billy Drake of St. John, Ralph Drake of Ft. Dodge and Teddy Drake of Ford; two sisters, Martha Smith of San Diego, Calif., and Dorothy Lewis of Wichita; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Drake and Don Drake; and two sisters, Vila Byer and Nancy Drake. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Minnis Chapel in St. John with the Rev. Tom Hawks officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Park cemetery in St. John. Friends may call from 4-8 tonight at the chapel. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, in care of the chapel. Aug. 1, 2002

Loeva P. Neff 1921-2002
Loeva P. Neff, 81, of Great Bend, died July 30 at Hutchinson Hospital. She was born June 1, 1921, at Shamrock, Okla., the daughter of Robert and Anna Ricks Brittain. She married Frank A. Neff on July 6, 1946, at Bristow, Okla. A resident of Great Bend since 1947, coming from Stroud, Okla., she was former owner of Loeva's Bra Salon. Mrs. Neff was a member of Grace United Church of Christ. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Marlene Harrison of Buckhannon, W.Va., and Sonja Phillips of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Orval Brittain of Griffin, Ga.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by one son, Alvin Ray; one brother, Ray Brittain; and two sisters, Alice Miller and Naomi Ward. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday, all at the funeral home. Harvina L. Reissig 1915-2002
ST. JOHN - Harvina L. Reissig, 87, died Sept. 28 at Leisure Homestead in Stafford. She was born Aug. 23, 1915, at St. John, the daughter of Harvey A. and Ida Lee Leiss. She received a bachelor of music degree from the College of Emporia. She married William George Reissig on Aug. 10, 1939, at St. John. He died on July 8, 1996. A resident of St. John, she was a school teacher at Iuka for 10 years and was active in farming. Mrs. Reissig was a member of Antrim United Methodist Church in St. John. Survivors include one son, William Harvey Reissig of Geneva, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. W. Harlan Rittgers officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Park cemetery in St. John. Friends may call from 1-8 tonight at Minnis Chapel in St. John. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the chapel. Sept. 30, 2002

Lois Irene Dick 1926-2002
LARNED - Lois Irene Dick, 76, died Sept. 26 at her residence in Blanchester, Ohio. She was born Sept. 10, 1926, at Larned, the daughter of William H. and Annie Heney Fairchild. She married Ralph E. Dick on May 31, 1947, at Larned. He died Aug. 24, 1989. A resident of Larned, she was a homemaker and retired store clerk for Wiggins Pharmacy and Jack and Jill Grocery, both of Larned. Mrs. Dick was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Larned. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Ludlow of Blanchester and Janelle Terrill of Lenexa; one brother, Harry Fairchild of Larned; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Fairchild and Jim Fairchild; and four sisters, Mildred Handshew, Alice Aggson, Ethel Dugger and Marietta Vratil. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned with the Rev. Jim Hawthorne officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, all at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Breast Cancer Research/American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home. Sept. 30, 2002
