Helen Louise Clouston 1913-2004
NESS CITY — Helen Louise Clouston, 90, died Aug. 21 at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 14, 1913, at LaHarpe in Allen County, the daughter of Harry Potter and Mary Belle Moules Doty. She grew to womanhood in Ransom and spent most of her adult life in Ness City, but lived in Los Angeles, Calif., from 1938-1942, when her husband worked in a cabinet shop with his brother Dale. She married
Jessee Edward Clouston on March 13, 1932.
Mrs. Clouston was a member of the First Baptist Church and Rebekah Lodge in Ness City. She also worked in the Ness County Clerk’s office for many years and served as city clerk.
Survivors include two sons: Don Clouston, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Bob Clouston, Manhattan; three daughters, Mary Lee DeShazo, Ness City, Jeanne MacDonald, Johnstown, Colo., and Ann Garrelts, Hays; two brothers, Edwin Doty, Billings, Mont., and Shelby Doty, Ransom; one sister, Reita Schreiber, Ransom; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Doty and an infant brother; two sisters, Amy Jarvis and Rosalie Schweitzer; a granddaughter, Tracy Clouston, and one great-great-grandson, Michael Young.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Ness City with the Rev. Russell King officiating. Burial will be in the Ness City Cemetery. Friends may call from 8:30 this morning at the church until service time. Memorials are suggested to the church or the Leisure Years Center in Ness City.

James L. Petrik 1938-2004
HUTCHINSON — James L. “Jim” Petrik, 65, died Aug. 23 at Hospice House in Hutchinson. He was born Dec. 5, 1938, at Rush Center, the son of Frank and Sara J. Keener Petrik. He was a 1956 graduate of La Crosse High School. He married
Linda C. Griffen, and later married
Diane Adams. A longtime Hutchinson resident, formerly of Great Bend, he was an oil field driller for 35 years.
Petrik served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Bob Campbell Post 1361 in Hutchinson and American Legion Argonne Post 180 in Great Bend.
Survivors include four sons, Bruce Petrik of Hutchinson, Terry Petrik of Great Bend, Shane Petrik of Palm Springs, Calif., and Jimmy Petrik of Stafford; two daughters Misty Harter of Stafford and Wendy Petrik of Chariton, Iowa; sister Judy Furbeck of La Crosse; and six grandchildren.
There will be a private family graveside service at La Crosse Cemetery.

Wilma A. Bondurant 1911 - 2004
OVERLAND PARK — Wilma A. Bondurant, 92, Overland Park, formerly of Great Bend, passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Rose Estates in Overland Park. Graveside service will be at noon Monday at the Memorial Park cemetery in Enid, Okla. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to either the Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall, Kansas City, MO 64114, or the Kansas City Hospice, 12006 W. 87th Parkway, Lenexa, KS 66215.
Wilma was born Nov. 21, 1911, in Hardtner, Kan., to Ed. H. and Belle (Morris) Smith. She was in the first graduating class of North High School in Wichita. Wilma later graduated from the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at the St. Rose Hospital in Great Bend.
Wilma was a member of the Social Order of Beauceant, Order of Amaranth and an active member of the China Painters- China Dolls. She was a former member of the Central Baptist Church in Great Bend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Bondurant in 1983, son Lloyd Bondurant, her parents, two sisters, and five brothers. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Bill Barnow, Overland Park; son and daughter-in-law William Lee and Jean Bondurant, Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

L.A. “Larry” Rose 1915 - 2004
WICHITA — L.A. “Larry” Rose, 88, died Aug. 19. He was born Oct. 7, 1915, the son of Manuel and Iva Brower Rose. A former Great Bend resident, he was a retired Victor L. Phillips Co. salesman.
Rose was a member of Mason of Saqui Lodge No. 160 of Osborne.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Linda D. and Garry L. Riemann of Wichita; and sister, Wilma Sehen of Wichita.

Robert Conrad Tammen 1953 - 2004
TIMKEN — Robert “Bob” Conrad Tammen, 50, died Aug. 19 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born Nov. 14, 1953, at Great Bend, the son of Robert Torrey and Jeanette Mildred Sisson Tammen. He married
Susan Elizabeth Moore on Oct. 22, 1983, in Great Bend. A farmer/stockman and dirt contractor, he was a lifetime resident of Rush County.
Tammen was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Albert, and served on the Timken Fire Department. He was also a past Rush County commissioner and served on the Rush County Conservation Board.
Survivors include his wife of the home; mother, Jeanette Tammen; three brothers, Randy Tammen and Reggie Tammen, both of Timken, and Ronnie Tammen, Rush Center; and two sisters, Jenny Shelton, Larned, and Johanna Myrick, Larned. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Great Bend with the Rev. Gary Brooks, the Rev. Jack Russell and Pastor Phil Smith officiating. Ruth Burnette Camper 1911 - 2004
Ruth Burnette Camper, 93, of Great Bend, died Aug. 21 at Great Bend. She was born Jan. 30, 1911, at Spadara, Ark., the daughter of William Marshall and Virginia Lee Burnette. She married
Robert D. Camper on Oct. 17, 1930, at Muskogee, Okla. He died July 23, 1983. She was manager and later a buyer of Ladies Ready to Wear. A Great Bend resident for three years, coming from Muskogee, she was a Texas resident for most of her life.
Mrs. Camper was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Muskogee.
Survivors include two nephews, James Burnette of Great Bend and Don Burnette Jr. of California; and two nieces, Dorothy Keenan of Great Bend and Virginia Sloan of Tyler, Texas. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Bob Burnette, Cecil Burnette, Ray Burnette, Jack Burnette and Don Burnette
Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Muskogee, Okla. Memorials are suggested by Golden Belt Home Health & Hospice.

Ernest E. Stone, 79, Great Bend, died Aug. 21 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born Nov. 26, 1924, at Great Bend. He married
Violet Steinle on May 3, 1974, in Great Bend. Raised and educated in Great Bend, he pursued several occupations throughout his lifetime.
Stone was stationed in Germany when he served in the military.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Lillian and Arky of Wyoming; one step-daughter, Rita Boxberger of Russell; one sister, Eileen Stone, Spokane, Wash.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

HOISINGTON — Theodore R. “Chalky” Guliford Jr., 79, died Aug. 17 at Cheyenne Meadows Living Center in Hoisington. He was born Nov. 8, 1924, the son of Theodore R. Sr. and Rosella Hurd Guliford. He married
Josephene D. May on Oct. 18, 1948, in Jackson County, Mo. She died Feb. 23, 1993. A lifetime resident of Hoisington, with the exception of living in Great Bend for the last three years, he was a wash manager for Suburban Laundry.
Guliford was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hoisington.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen J. Guliford of Great Bend and Marcia L. Van Conet of Hoisington; one brother, Arthur Guliford of Kansas City; two sisters, Teddi Scates of Kansas City, Mo., and Marilyn Williamson of Mission; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three daughters, Sheryl Guliford, Toi San Guliford and Gayle Locke; and one brother, Eugene R. Guliford.

HUTCHINSON — James W. “Red” Moffat, 95, died Aug. 17 at Elm Grove Estates in Hutchinson. He was born June 25, 1909, at Salina, the son of Howard Winter and May Elliott Kelso Moffat. He was a 1927 graduate of Wichita High School and a 1931 graduate of Wichita State University. He married
Lucy A. Moss on June 1, 1936, in McPherson. She died July 3, 2002. The former owner and president of Sun Oil Well Cementing Co. Inc, Great Bend, he moved to Hutchinson in 2000, coming from Great Bend.
Moffat was a member of First United Methodist Church, Petroleum Club and Great Bend Country Club, all of Great Bend; Scottish Rite Mason member of the Kilwinning Lodge No. 265 of Pratt; Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association; and American Petroleum Institute.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. Robert Moffat of Prairie Village, David Moffat of Park City, Utah, and Larry Moffat of Derby; daughter Marilyn Atkinson of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, James Richard Moffat; and one brother, Howard W. Moffat Jr.
