Merle Creed
Services for Merle L. Creed were at 10:30 a.m. July 18, 2000, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Dennis King officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Vocal music included "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain."
A memorial has been established with the Alzheimer's Disease Research Association.
Mildred Lundy
Services for Mildred L. Lundy were held at 10 a.m. July 14, 2000, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Warren Smith officiated. Burial was in Dexter Cemetery.
Vocal music included "How Great Thou Art" and "Beyond the Sunset."
Casket bearers were Andy Benning, Roy George, David Gray, Jeff Gray, David Means and Tim Reeves.
A memorial has been established with the Hays Good Samaritan Center Special Care Unit.
Evan Seamster
EMPORIA - Evan Hubert Seamster, 82, formerly of Cedar Vale, died July 16, 2000, at Presbyterian Manor in Emporia.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the First Assembly of God Church in Cedar Vale. Burial will be in Cedar Vale Cemetery.
Friends may call at Wheeler Funeral Home from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
A memorial has been established with the First Assembly of God Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Seamster was born Sept. 1, 1917, in Del Ray, Calif., to Grace Emaline (Barnes) and Oscar L. Hubert. When he was three, the family moved to Cedar Vale.
On Nov. 2, 1940, he married Barbara D. Hayhurst in Newkirk. She died Oct. 22, 1995.
Seamster farmed and ranched until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include a son, Richard E. Seamster, Paris, France; two daughters, Susan Hale, Upland, Calif., and Marla Stinson, Emporia; two brothers, Delbert Newton, Fort Collins, Colo., and Floyd Newton, California; two sisters, Jeanni Delk and Nancy Morgan, both of Fort Collins, Colo.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mary Howard
EL DORADO - Mary LaVon Howard, 88, of El Dorado, formerly of Dexter and Mulvane, died July 19, 2000, at Lakepoint Nursing Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Dexter Cemetery. Viewing will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
A memorial has been established with the Mulvane Historical Museum. Contributions can be made through Miles Funeral Service.
Howard was born Nov. 14, 1911, in Mulvane, to Florence M. (Morris) and Leroy Howard. She attended Mulvane area schools and graduated from Mulvane High School in 1931. She attended Friends University for three years before moving to New York.
In New York she sang with Roy Campbell's Orchestra. She then moved back to Wichita and graduated from Friends University in 1937. At Friends she was one of the first Singing Quakers.
Howard then moved to Texas where she taught music for four years.
In the late 1940s she moved to a ranch near Cambridge and later to a ranch near Dexter where she helped her father. When his health failed, they moved to Dexter. In the 1960s she became the mayor of Dexter. She lived there until the mid-1980s when she moved to El Dorado.
Howard was a member of the Mulvane United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her cousins, Irene Reynolds, Topeka, Gladys Hobrecht, Great Bend, and Hazel Albright, Idaho.
Judith Massey
Services for Judith Marie Massey were held at 10 a.m. July 19, 2000, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Revs. Dane Massey and Bob Massey officiated. Burial was in Cedar Vale Cemetery.
Keith Anglemyer was the organist. Jacquelyn Houlden sang "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art" and "Angels Among Us."
Honorary casket bearers were Gary Fitzmorris, Kent Killingsworth and Lyle W. Massey.
Casket bearers were Dan C. Defore, Robert W. Heep, Bob G. Massey, David L. Massey, Jack L. Massey and Roger W. Rutter.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and Hospice Inc.
Duane Chrisler
Services for Duane C. Chrisler were held at 10:30 a.m. July 20, 2000, at the First Presbyterian Church. The Revs. Diane Massey and Eugene Blake officiated. Burial was in Tisdale Cemetery.
Keith Anglemyer was the organist, and Wilma Anglemyer sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Amazing Grace."
Casket bearers were Francis Groene, John Kindt, Ron Miller, Jim Scott, Casey Woner and Chuck Wright.
Memorials have been established with the First Presbyterian Church, the USD 465 Foundation Scholarship Fund and Hospice Inc.
Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Randy Conn
Services for Randy Nelson Conn were held at 6 p.m. July 19, 2000, at the Jumping Jukebox in Winfield. Private inurnment was in Anthony.
Music included recordings of "Turn the Page" by Bob Seger, "Blue Jeans" by ZZ Top, "The Thrill Is Gone" by BB King, "Crossroads" by Eric Clapton, "Suzy Q" by Credence Clearwater Revival and "Sunshine of Your Love" by Cream.
Contributions can be made to the Randy Nelson Conn Monument Fund.
Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Lulabell Bradshaw
Services for Lulabell A. Bradshaw were held at 10:30 a.m. July 13, 2000, in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Rick Thornton officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Leo Meadows, Dick Warren, John Logsdon, Pat Newman, Dennis Shiever and Francis Swanson.

Wanda Lampson
CEDAR VALE - Services for Wanda Lampson were held at 10 a.m. July 19, 2000, in Cedar Vale Cemetery. The Rev. Stanley Upchurch officiated.
Music included "Music Box Dancer," "Angel" and "Because You Love Me."
Casket bearers were Lampson's grandsons.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.

Carol Smith
ARKANSAS CITY - Carol A. Smith, 59, of Arkansas City, died July 21, 2000, at her residence.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials have been established with Hospice Inc. and the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Smith was born in Caldwell to Annie and Thomas Smith.
She was employed at General Electric for 16 years and was still actively employed until February of this year.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim Adams and Pam Bailey, both of Arkansas City, and two sons, James Hockenbury, Fort Mitchell, Ala., and Todd Hockenbury, Arkansas City; two sisters, Kathryn Fiene, South Haven, and Norma Yount, Bee Branch, Ark.; and eight grandchildren.
