Daniel Walker

MULVANE - Daniel C. Walker, 66, of Mulvane, died Sept. 22, 2000.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Senter-Smith Mortuary.

A memorial has been established with the Alzheimer's Disease Association, 347 S. Laura, Wichita, KS 67201.

Walker was born Feb. 22, 1934, in Dequion, to Edith (Enlow) and Ralph Walker. On Feb. 2, 1956, he married Joan Wise in Wichita.

Walker farmed, worked at the Mulvane Farmers Co-op for 20 years and was employed by Beech Aircraft as an anodizer before his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Walker, and a son, Daniel C. Walker Jr., both of Mulvane; two daughters, Teresa Sweet, Udall, and Sally Cain, Wichita; a brother, David Walker, Parsons, two sisters, Lorraine Laurie, Mulvane, and Juanita Young, Salt Lake City, Utah; and six grandchildren.

Sandi Krusemark

Sandi Marie Krusemark, 18, of 3510 Meadowlark Lane, Winfield, died Sept. 25, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Joseph Campus in Wichita.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Girard City Cemetery.

Friends may call at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home until 8 tonight. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30.

Memorials have been established with the First Assembly of God Youth Group and the Anorexia Nervosa Association. Contributions may be made through the church or funeral home.

Krusemark was born Nov. 6, 1981, in Winfield, to Nancy (Hay) and David Krusemark.

She was a student at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City. A May graduate of Winfield High School, she had been a member of the high school band, the Arts Honor Society and the National Honor Society. She graduated in the top 10 percent of her class and was a Kansas Honor Scholar.

Krusemark was a member of the Southwestern Flute Choir and the Assembly of God Youth Group. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her parents, Nancy and David Krusemark, three sisters, Kimberly, Rebekah and Sharon Krusemark, and a brother, Jonathan Krusemark, all of Winfield; and her grandparents, Gladys Hay, Girard, and Raymond and Lillian Krusemark, Pratt.

Nigel Lindsay

MAPLEWOOD, Ohio - Nigel Winfred Lindsay Jr., 43, of Maplewood, died Sept. 18, 2000, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus from injuries received in a traffic accident.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 22 in Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio, with full military honors. Eichholtz Funeral Home of Bellefontaine, Ohio, was in charge of arrangements.

Lindsay was born July 18, 1957, in Spokane, Wash., to Dorothy Vanderpool Lindsay of Winfield and Nigel Winfred Dodson Sr. of Greenville, S.C.

A United States Marine Corps veteran, Lindsay served from 1975 to 1979.

He was also a truck driver, a member of the Assembly of God Church in Bellefontaine and a Senior Royal Ranger. He was in the Logan Hills Festival play in Zanesfield, Ohio, for five years.

Lindsay was a member of Eagles Lodge 2166, Harold Kerr American Legion Post 173 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1080.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen Dodson and Paul Lindsay, and two daughters, Carla Brueshaber and Christy Lindsay, all of Bellefontaine; his parents, Dorothy Lindsay, Winfield, and Nigel Dodson Sr., Greenville, S.C.; two brothers, Geddes "Butch" Lindsay, Wichita, and Stephen Dodson, Greenville, S.C.; five sisters, Debby Chenoweth, Atlanta, Dawn Kyle, Carnegie, Pa., Theresa Smith, Charlotte, N.C., and Bobbie Green and Doris Sewell, both of Greenville, S.C.; his stepmother, Dorothy Dodson, Greenville, S.C.; a friend, Linda Cowen, Maplewood; and one granddaughter.

Nina Barker-Newell

SOUTH HAVEN - Nina Elizabeth Barker-Newell, 80, lifelong resident of South Haven, died Sept. 26, 2000, at Riverview Manor in Oxford.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Greg Lindenberger will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at South Haven.

Friends may call at Frank Funeral Home until 9 tonight. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8.

Memorials have been established with the South Haven First United Methodist Church and Hospice Inc. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Barker-Newell was born April 17, 1920, in South Haven, to Euphemia Elizabeth (Matthews) and Elza Flemon Creed.

On July 1, 1937, she married Earl Hubbard in Wellington. He died Jan. 1, 1938.

On Feb. 11, 1940, she married Horace Dale Barker in South Haven. He died Nov. 12, 1981.

On Feb. 14, 1996, she married Wilbur Newell in Geuda Springs.

In 1999 Barker-Newell retired as editor of the South Haven New Era where she had worked for 25 years. She was also a librarian at South Haven Public Library for 22 years.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Newell, Douglass; a daughter, Patricia Strickland, Winfield; three sons, Lewis E. Hubbard, Houston, Texas, Arlis Barker, South Haven, and Kenny Barker, Wellington; a brother, Harold Creed, Wellington; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Misako Krug

ATLANTA - Services for Misako Krug were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 26, 2000, in Atlanta Cemetery. The Rev. Ron Keith officiated. Music included "Amazing Grace" and "Because He Lives," performed by Pat Lundy.

Casket bearers were Merle Wade Krug, Terry Krug, Tim Krug, Ty Krug, Austin Rising, Ryan Rising and Dan Schnurr.

A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc.

Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Doris Frisbie

KINGMAN - Doris Faye Frisbie, 71, died Sept. 28, 2000, at Wheatlands Heathcare Facility, Kingman.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Livingston Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron Keith will officiate. Burial will be in Hoosier Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home until 8 tonight and before services Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingman Library or Hospice Inc., both in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 453, Kingman, KS 67068.

Frisbie was born July 29, 1929, in Wilmot, to Dorothy Jane (Eastman) and George William Hiatt.

On Aug. 5, 1948, she married Bruce W. Frisbie in Winfield. He died July 29, 1991.

A resident of Kingman since 1951, Frisbie was a homemaker and member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, Brad Frisbie, Kingman; five daughters, Sandie Hayes, Linda Fouse, Barbara Tatro and Karen Anderson, all of Kingman, and Kathy Anderson, Council Grove; two brothers, E.W. Hiatt, Mustang, Okla., and Cecil Hiatt, Arkansas City; two sisters, Shirley Thomas, Arkansas City, and Janet Callison, Wichita; 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dolores Pitt

ELM CREEK, Neb. - Dolores "Dee" Pitt, 71, of Elm Creek, formerly of the Winfield area, died Sept. 28, 2000, at Mother Hull Home in Kearney, Neb.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Elm Creek. The Rev. Dean Pofahl will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call at O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Chapel in Elm Creek from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials have been established with the church and the Elm Creek Rescue Unit.

Joseph Somers

SANTA FE, N.M. - Joseph Patrick Somers, 86, of Santa Fe., formerly of Arkansas City, died Sept. 26, 2000.

No public service will be held. Berardinelli Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Somers was born Aug. 3, 1914, in Arkansas City.

On Sept. 4, 1937, he married Dorothy Muret in Winfield.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Wichita.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Somers, Santa Fe; a son, William Somers, Los Alamos, N.M.; two sisters, Mary Ellen Hohenberger and Eleanor Ciskowski, both of Ponca City; three brothers, Francis Somers, Annapolis, Md., Robert Somers, Aptos, Calif., and Charles Somers, San Diego; and two granddaughters.

Edd Carlson

Services for Edd A. Carlson were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 27, 2000, at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Warren Smith officiated.

Marilyn Buffum was the organist, and Vivian Pearce presented "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace." The congregation sang "Because He Lives."

Honorary casket bearers were Gale Bunner, Irl Fife, Bob Lewis, Billy Pittman, George Reuther and Bob Winn.

Casket bearers were Gene Beard, Harry Evans, Leonard Kukuk, Lawrence Miller, Willard Morris and Billy Pittman.

Burial was at 2 p.m. Sept. 28 in Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, Neb. American Legion Post 52 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post of Kearney, Neb., performed military ceremonies.

A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church.

Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
