Tammy Wilson

ARKANSAS CITY - Tammy Leann Wilson, 27, of Arkansas City, died Jan. 25, 1973, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita. Her infant son, Cody Eugene Prichard, died shortly after delivery at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City earlier that morning.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the North Summit Church of Christ. Burial will be in Parker Cemetery. Wayne Robbins will officiate.

A memorial has been established as an Educational Trust for Angela and Abby Wilson. Contributions may be made through Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.

Wilson was born April 24, 1973, in Arkansas City, to Betty (Treat) and Wayne Dorman. She was raised in Arkansas City and graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1992 and later from Cowley County Community College.

A certified nurses' assistant for various nursing homes in the Arkansas City and Winfield areas, she was working for the Medicalodge North Post Acute Care Center at the time of her death.

She was a member of the North Summit Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Angela Wilson and Abby Wilson, both of Ponca City; her parents, Wayne Dorman and Betty Dorman, two half-sisters, Misty Wright and Marcy Dorman, a stepsister, Teresa Bolia, her maternal grandmother, Flossie Treat, and paternal grandparents, Wesley and Virginia Dorman, all of Arkansas City; and a brother, Robert Dorman.

Iva Conklin

GRENOLA - Iva Pearl Conklin, 90, longtime resident of Grenola, died Jan. 28, 2001, at Elk Manor Nursing Home in Moline.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Grenola Christian Church. Pastor Wallace Wartick will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with the Grenola Christian Church and Grenola Senior Center. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.

Conklin was born Oct. 15, 1910, in Grenola, to Etta Ester (Moore) and Roy Harrison Dory. She attended Greenfield rural school and graduated from Grenola High School.

On Dec. 31, 1932, she married William Henry Conklin in Grenola. A homemaker, she lived in several locations in the United States but principally in California before returning to Kansas in 1952. She had made a home for her family in Grenola since 1958. Her husband died in April 1972.

Conklin was a member of the Grenola Senior Citizens, Democratic Club and Grenola Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Conklin, Kansas, and Donald Conklin, Grenola; a daughter, Elizabeth Featherston, Grenola; a sister, Arline Samms, Orange, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Roy and Sheldon Conklin, preceded her in death.

Clyde Ernst

Services for Clyde Ernst were held at 10 a.m. Jan. 27, 2001, at Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jerre Nolte officiated. Burial was in Lyons Cemetery.

Louise Schuppener was the organist, and James Schuppener and Barb Henthorn-Thompson were vocalists. A tape of Mark Schuppener playing Ernst's violin was also part of the service.

Music included "God's Time Is Best," Adagio," Hymn of Promise," "Eagles' Wings," "Amazing Grace," "Rock of Ages," "Joyful, Joyful," "Beautiful Savior" and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul."

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southwestern College Thelma Ham Scholarship Fund.

Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lenora Spory

CEDAR VALE - Lenora "Shorty" Spory, 73, of Cedar Vale, died Jan. 27, 2001, at Cedar Vale Community Hospital.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at Sutter Salem Bible Church, Sutter, Ill. The Rev. Jack Anderson will officiate. Cremation has been effected. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wheeler Funeral Home of Cedar Vale is in charge of arrangements.

Spory was born Jan. 14, 1928, in Kirksville, Mo., to Caroline (Wilkins) and Oscar James King. She moved from Missouri to Keokuk, Iowa, at a young age and lived there about 30 years. She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1945 and was a member of the Gospel Center in Keokuk.

On Nov. 18, 1960, she married Julius O. Spory in Keokuk. He died Feb. 27, 1996.

Spory owned and operated several restaurants in Iowa and Kansas, including the Paramount Cafe in Mapleton, Iowa, before her retirement in 1990.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah (Momberg) McCoy, Lakewood, Colo.; two sons, Dennis Spory, Lakewood, Colo., and Dale Spory, Garden City; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A son, Douglas J. Momberg, preceded her in death.

Catherine Bradshaw

Catherine A. Bradshaw, 89, of Winfield, died Jan. 27, 2001, at Good Samaritan Village.

A private service will be held later in Restlawn Garden of Memory at Newton. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Bradshaw was born March 9, 1911, in Schulte, to Nellie (Lane) and William H. Lewis. She attended school in Schulte.

On Nov. 27, 1928, she married James E. Bradshaw. He died Oct. 28, 1985.

Survivors include three sons, M.L. Bradshaw, Prescott, Ariz., Jerry H. Bradshaw, San Antonio, Texas, and Larry Bradshaw, Winfield; a sister, Pauline, Augusta; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A son, Robert Bradshaw, preceded her in death.

Dorothy Hardy

DEXTER - Dorothy G. Hardy, 90, of Dexter, died Jan. 28, 2001, at Grouse Valley Manor.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church. Burial will follow in Dexter Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with Grouse Valley Manor. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.

Hardy was born May 16, 1910, in Stone, Okla., to Ruby (Matherly) and Milton Learn. She was raised on farms in Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas and graduated from Dexter High School.

On Dec. 19, 1928, she married Ivan Glenn Hardy. They lived in Arkansas City before moving to Dexter in the early 1940s. She worked at a floral shop in Winfield, at a nursing home and at the William Newton Hospital pharmacy.

Her husband died Sept. 30, 1952.

Hardy was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Order of Eastern Star of Dexter.

Survivors include a niece, Ivena Farr, Marshfield, Mo.

Beulah Harper

Beulah May Harper, 81, of Winfield, died Jan. 28, 2001, at William Newton Hospital.

Services were to be at 2 p.m. today in Highland Cemetery. Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc.

Harper was born July 29, 1919, in Girard, to Dorothy Madeline (Bennett) and Joseph Garnett Falder. She was raised and educated in the Walnut area.

On March 4, 1938, she married Roy William Harper in Lamar, Mo. He died Jan. 2, 1990.

Harper worked in food service at Winfield State Hospital and Training Center until her retirement in 1984.

Survivors include two daughters, Bea Armstrong, Winfield, and Darlene Pokorney, Lake Charles, La.; three sons, Ralph Harper, Winfield, Joseph Harper, Chanute, and Jerry Harper, Blackwell; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Ina Murphy

LONGTON - Ina Maxine Murphy, 84, of Longton, died Jan. 29, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Independence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Longton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Don Foster will officiate. Burial will be in Longton Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the church. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.

Murphy was born Sept. 11, 1916, in Longton, to Effie Jane (Berry) and George Albert Murphy. She graduated from Longton High School in 1934.

Murphy, a lifetime resident of the Longton area, was employed by the Longton Bakery for several years, then worked at the Longton post office until her retirement.

A quilter, she taught sewing while serving many years as a 4-H leader. She was a member of the Outlook Club and the Longton United Methodist Church. She was also active in United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her sisters, Elsie Marquardt, Coffeyville, and Georgia Krahn, Kingman, Ariz.

Pat Stephens

PARSONS - Andra P. "Pat" Stephens, 86, of Parsons, former longtime resident of Erie, died Jan. 29, 2001, at Parsons Presbyterian Manor 10 days after the death of his wife.

Services will be at 2 p.m Thursday at Erie Federated Church. The Rev. Ralph Jarboe will officiate, and burial will be in East Hill Cemetery. The Erie Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons will perform Masonic rites.

The family will receive friends at Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Erie Federated Church.

Stephens was born March 17, 1914, in rural Walnut, to Eunice (Alexander) and Andrew Stephens. He attended Liberty Grade School in Bourbon County and Stark High School.

On Dec. 30, 1935, he married Ernestine Kusel in Erie. They lived on a farm north of Walnut before moving to Erie in 1943 and to Parsons in 1992. His wife died Jan. 19, 2001.

Stephens was employed at the Kansas Ordnance Plant in the 1940s and later the Neosho Valley Creamery in Erie. After the creamery closed, he became the custodian for Erie Grade School. After retirement, he worked as custodian of the Neosho Village Apartments in Erie.

Stephens was a member of the Erie Federated Church, Erie Golf Club and Erie Lodge 76 AF&AM.

Survivors include a son, Bill Stephens, Winfield; two daughters, Patricia Hinshaw, Norman, Okla., and Mary L. O'Neal, Parsons; a sister, Phyllis Lovell, Laramie, Wyo.; and seven grandchildren.
