Marcia Mills

Marcia Arline (Killfoil) Mills, 60, a resident of Walnut Towers in Winfield, died May 2, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.

A memorial has been established with the Cancer Center of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Mills was born Sept. 8, 1940, in Garden City, to Thelma Irene (Cross) and Charles Michael Killfoil. Because her father worked for the railroads, she was raised and educated in various Kansas communities, including Pierceville, Ingalls and Garden City.

On June 15, 1956, she married Jimmy Wilford Mills in Mineola, and they lived in Garden City. They divorced in 1982.

A homemaker, Mills had resided in Winfield since 1985.

Survivors include four sons, Terry Mills, Eudora, Jerry Mills and Charles Mills, both of Arkansas City, and Jimmy Mills Jr., Winfield; four daughters, Donna Othoudt, Latham, Judy Crabtree, Winfield, Katie Ball, Rock, and Mary Mills, Arkansas City; her stepfather, Orval Lee Mills, Newkirk, Okla.; her stepmother, Annabelle Sturdevant, Garden City; two brothers, Leo Hawk and Larry Mills, both of Cherryvale; five sisters, Myrna Ramirez, Newkirk, Okla., Bertia Bruno, Tonkawa, Okla., Evis Duchardt, Grand Marsh, Wis., Eda Ewing, Satanta, and Evelyn Brooks, St. Joseph, Mo.; and 17 grandchildren.

Rosa Farnsworth

Services for Rosa B. Farnsworth were held at 10 a.m. May 5, 2001, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Fred Garvin officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

Irma Scholfield was the organist. Patricia Crawford sang "I Don't Know About Tomorrow" and "Stars in My Crown."

Honorary casket bearers were Lee Fox, Ted Biby, Ivan Nickelson, Major P. Farnsworth, Michael A. Vaughn, John C. Bateman III and Doug Stone.

Casket bearers were Christopher Angnabooguk, Willie Jay Burtrum, John R. Farnsworth, Ronald E. Farnsworth Jr., Charles V. Martin and David E. Martin.

A memorial has been established with the Winfield Rest Haven Activities Fund.

Kenny Lawless

BELLE PLAINE - Kenny Lawless, 67, of Belle Plaine, died May 5, 2001.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Belle Plaine Cemetery. Hatfield-Smith Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established with Hospice Inc. and the American Cancer Society.

Lawless born Jan. 21, 1934, near Belle Plaine, to Iva (Burton) and Richard Lawless.

On June 1, 1958, he married Dorothy Clark in Belle Plaine.

Lawless was a farmer, rancher and Boeing equipment operator.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lawless, Belle Plaine; two sons, Kent Lawless, Mulvane, and Kevin Lawless, Belle Plaine; a daughter, Kathy Scott, Belle Plaine; a brother, Keith Lawless, Winfield; and four granddaughters.

Jo Galleher

UDALL - Rachel E. "Jo" Galleher, 57, of Udall, died May 5, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Joseph Campus in Wichita.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Redbud Cemetery north of Udall. Senter-Smith Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.

Galleher was born Feb. 16, 1944, in Garnett, to Frieda (Ashburn) and Klebe Cox.

A homemaker, she had lived in Udall since moving there from Mulvane in 1983.

Survivors include three daughters, Karen Williamson and Colleen Suffron, both of Udall, and Katherine Miller, Denver; seven brothers, Raymond, Roy and Lonnie Cox, all of Udall, Billy, Larry and Guy Cox, all of Bentonville, Ark., and Gary Cox, Atlanta; two sisters, Patricia Foltz and Charlotte Homan, both of Udall; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A son, Richard J. Rafferty Jr., preceded her in death.

Chauncey Nicholson

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - Chauncey L. "Nick" Nicholson, 80, of Bartlesville, died April 30, 2001, at his home.

Services were held May 2 at East Cross United Methodist Church. Dr. Dwight Darrah and the Rev. Ashley Green-Young officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Walker-Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.

Nicholson was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Independence, to Olive M. and C.I. Nicholson. He graduated from high school in Elk City.

From October 1942 to April 1945 he served in the U.S. Marines. He was retired from Phillips Petroleum Co.

Survivors include his wife, Genny Nicholson, Bartlesville; a son, Cody L. Nicholson, Tulsa; two daughters, Maya R. Betz, Tulsa, and Michelle C. May, Bartlesville; three sisters, Barbara Wharton, Scottsdale, Ariz., Veloris Chamberlain, Oxford, and Virginia Donley, Overland Park; and six grandchildren.

Raymond Groene

A vigil and Rosary service for Raymond A. Groene were held at 7 p.m. May 6, 2001, in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial was said at 10:30 a.m. May 7 at Holy Name Catholic Church. The Rev. Bernard Gorges officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Dorothy Groene was the organist, and Shirley Walker was the vocalist.

Honorary casket bearers were Ralph Weninger, Linus Brungardt, Ray Brown, Ken Lincicome and Rubin Gomez.

Casket bearers were David Glantz and Steven, Andrew, Randy, Kirk and Jay Groene.

Memorials have been established with Hospice Inc. and Holy Name Catholic Church.

Irene Trigg

CEDAR VALE - Services for H. Irene Trigg were held at 2 p.m. May 7, 2001, at the First Baptist Church in Cedar Vale. Pastor Vern Wilkinson officiated. Burial was in Cedar Vale Cemetery.

Bwana Drennan was the pianist. Vocalists were Drennan, Mary Bennett, Aaron Pack and Vern Wilkinson.

Honorary casket bearer was Scott Hostetler. Casket bearers were Micky Myers, Jim Affholder, Ron Harp, Royal Kennedy, Sam Juul and Barry Harp.

Wheeler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Marcia Mills

Services for Marcia Arline (Killfoil) Mills were held at 2:30 p.m. May 7, 2001, in Highland Cemetery. The Rev. Gale Rider officiated.

Music included "Thank You," performed by Ray Boltz, "I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy," performed by Rick Dougherty, and "Let's Meet at the River," performed by Carlene Walker.

A memorial has been established with the Cancer Center of Kansas.

Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Larry Wilkinson

WICHITA - Larry M. Wilkinson, 60, of Wichita, died May 9, 2001.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Rose Hill Cemetery at South Haven.

Friends may call at Hillside Funeral Home East in Wichita from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 837 S. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67211.

A retired telephone installer for Southwestern Bell, Wilkinson was a desk clerk at Mark 8 Lodge at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Nedia Switzer Wilkinson, Wichita; a daughter, Lisa White, Haysville; a brother, Richard Wilkinson, and two sisters. Barbara Symon and Karen Kramburg, all of Wichita; and three grandchildren.

Viola Schwantes

Viola M. Schwantes, 79, of 3 Fleetwood, Winfield, died May 8, 2001, at William Newton Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established with Southwestern College and the First Presbyterian Church.

Schwantes was born March 14, 1922, in Spearville, to Carrie (Moody) and Uel Rucker. She was raised and educated in area schools and obtained a degree from the Women's College of Emporia.

On June 11, 1950, she married Max Schwantes in Winfield. He died Nov. 12, 1988.

Schwantes worked for Southwestern College as a comptroller and retired from that position in 1987.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Her friend, Dr. Richard Gibson, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a brother, Jess Rucker, Dodge City; and three sisters, Lois McCaw, Winfield, and Lavera Swank and Carrie J. Rucker, both of Dodge City.
