Raymond Eis
Raymond J. Eis, 74, of Winfield, died Sept. 25, 2001, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grandview United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Floral Cemetery.
Friends may call at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Memorials have been established with the American Red Cross and Grandview United Methodist Church.
A veteran of World War II, Eis was a retired diesel mechanic and oil field worker.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Eis, Winfield; three sons, Steve Eis, John Eis and Dan Eis; three daughters, Patty Van Etten, Jeri Carson and Nancy Eis; and 11 grandchildren.
Anna Scott
OXFORD - Anna Belle Scott, 63, of Oxford, died Sept. 21, 2001, at her home.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Sept. 24 at Oxford Christian Church. The Revs Danny Ginn and Sam Whiteside officiated. Burial was in Oxford Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, Mass., and the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University. Contributions may be made through Oxford Funeral Service, LLC.
Scott was born Oct. 18, 1937, in Arkansas City, to Opal Matilda (Shipp) and Ross Melvin Rahn. She was raised in the Cedar Vale/Arkansas City area and resided throughout her life in south central Kansas.
On June 30, 1957, she married Clayton V. Scott in Cedar Vale.
Scott was employed in the aircraft manufacturing industry, at Cessna and Boeing, for 25 years. She retired from Boeing March 1, 2001, after having worked there for 13 years.
Scott was a member of the Oxford Christian Church and Queen City Chapter 138 Order of Eastern Star of Winfield where she was a star point for three years and held other positions.
A son, Gregory Scott, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Clayton Scott, Oxford; two daughters, Diana Austin, Wichita, and Teresa Pierce, Wellington; two sons, Clinton Scott, Wichita, and Stanley Scott, Oxford; her mother, Opal Shipp Oller, Cimarron; her stepmother, Alice Rahn, Arkansas City; a brother, Bill Rahn, Wichita; two half-sisters, Janice Hall, Arlington, W.Va., and Helen Kerr, Cimarron; three half-brothers, Bob Rahn, Arkansas City, Phil Rahn, Springfield, Mo., and Johnny Oller, Wichita; and seven grandchildren.
Holly Shryock
UDALL - Services for Holly Kae Shryock were held at 1 p.m. Sept. 25, 2001, in the Udall First Baptist Church. The Rev. John Bilyeu officiated. Burial was in Star Valley Cemetery.
Music included "The Lord's Prayer" and "Amazing Grace," by Sheana Godwin, and "Mama," as recorded by Boyz II Men.
Casket bearers were Norman and Ray Bonner, Rick Brough, John and Todd Burris and Lucas Saenz.
A memorial has been established with the Cowley County Humane Society.

Jesse Denton
Services for Jesse Elmer Denton were held at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 25, 2001, in Highland Cemetery. The Rev. Shawn Sturm officiated.
Duane Denton played guitar and sang "The Prodigal," "Standing on the Promises" and "Blessed Assurance."
Memorials have been established with Olivet Southern Baptist Church and Hospice Care, both of Wichita.

Marjorie Gibbon
HOWARD - Marjorie Ann Gibbon, 78, of Howard, died Sept. 27, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Marty Dewitt will officiate. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the First Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary's Girls State Fund. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home.
Gibbon was born Aug. 3, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., to Kitty Ann (Baker) and Robert Allen. The family moved to Elk County when she was five, and she attended Excelsior Springs rural school south of Howard.
She and Rex Ernie Armstrong married and had one son. She made a home for her family in Howard for many years before moving to Wichita. Armstrong died on Sept. 11, 1969.
On Sept. 3, 1977, she married Frank Allen Gibbon in Wichita and they moved to Howard.
Gibbon was past president and a 50-year member of Carter-Rader American Legion Post 149 Auxiliary and a former district president of the Kansas American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star of Howard, a 60-year member and courtesy chairperson of the First Baptist Church of Howard and a member of American Baptist Women.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Gibbon, Howard; a son, Carl Armstrong, Augusta; two half-sisters, Thelma Furrow, El Dorado, and Abbie Phillips, Oswego; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
James McCaw
James "Phil" McCaw, 75, of Winfield, died Sept. 26, 2001, at William Newton Hospital.
Cremation has taken place.
The Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Holy Name Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, also at Holy Name.
Memorials may be made to Holy Name Catholic Church or the American Red Cross.

McCaw was born July 24, 1926, in San Antonio, Texas, to Marcella (Hourican) and William McCaw.
On Feb. 14, 1959, he married Lois Rucker in Denver, Colo. They lived in Gahanna, Ohio, where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service.
During World War II and the Vietnam War, McCaw served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a lieutenant colonel.
He and his wife moved to Winfield in 1993 after retirement.
McCaw was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Kiwanis, the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Lois McCaw, Winfield; a son, Lt. Col. James P. McCaw Jr., Alexandria, Va.; two daughters, Lisa Mash, Westerville, Ohio, and Nancy Doll, Renton, Wash.; a brother, Dr. William McCaw, and two sisters, Betty Kelley and Jane Murray, all of Denver; and five grandchildren.

Waneta Scharff
FALL RIVER - Waneta Muriel Scharff, 74, of Fall River, died Sept. 26, 2001, at Fredonia Regional Hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard. Lloyd G. Zimmerman will officiate. Private burial will be in South Lawn Cemetery
in Severy.
A memorial has been established with the Fall River Booster Club. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Scharff was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Fall River, to Lela Fay (Tyner) and John Edward Leroy Book. She attended school in Fall River and Hamilton and graduated from Eureka High School in 1944.
On Oct. 9, 1943, she married Basil Frank Scharff in Wichita. They lived in Great Bend and in Eureka before moving to Wichita in 1954. During those years Scharff was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress.
Scharff worked at Wescon Manufacturing in Wichita from the early 1970s until her retirement in 1989. She and her husband moved to Fall River in 1983.
She was a member of the Fall River Christian Church.
Survivors include her son, Basil Scharff, and a son, Leroy Scharff, both of Fall River; two daughters, Jewell Mapes and Rhonda Smith, both of Wichita; two sisters, Nadine Jones, Severy, and Margaret Smith, Wichita; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
