Ernest Franklin Richardson
(April 18, 1913 - Oct. 2, 2000)

Ernest Franklin Richardson, 87, Camdenton, Mo., former Linn County resident, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000.
He was born April 18, 1913, in Centralia, Mo. The family moved to Kutch, Colo., when he was 2 years old and to Linn County in 1920. He attended grade school at Walnut Grove and Richland country schools in Linn County.
He and Margaret Jackson were married and they became the parents of two children. They were later divorced.
Mr. Richardson was a section foreman for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad at Parker before being transferred to Kansas City.
His second marriage was to Elizabeth Anthony. She preceded him in death.
Others preceding him in death were a daughter, Yvonne; two brothers, Maurice Richardson and Verdell Richardson; and a sister, Anna Mae Gittings.
Survivors include his son, Jack Richardson of Kailua, Hawaii; a stepson, Gene Anthony of Camdenton; two brothers, Eugene Richardson of Camden, Ark., and Aubrey Ellis Richardson of Trimble, Mo.; a sister, Maxine Holderman of Parker; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Richardson was cremated and graveside services were Thursday in Camdenton.

Grace Marie Lamb
(Died Oct. 6, 2000)

Grace Marie Lamb, 74, 36750 Edgerton Road, Osawatomie, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in Olathe Medical Center.
She was born in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of George and Grace Wheeler Bogard. She lived most of her life in the Kansas City area.
Survivors include a son, Melvin A. Lamb Jr. of Overland Park; a sister, Alice Nordhaus of Round Rock, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services were Monday in Maple Hill Cemetery in Kansas City under the direction of Maple Hill Funeral Home.

Betty Joann Hamblin
(Dec. 19, 1929 - Nov. 23, 2000)

Betty Joann Hamblin, 70, a former Lane resident, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at her home in Richmond.
She was born Dec. 19, 1929, in Menlo, the daughter of William Everett and Erva Ethel Carpenter Taylor. She grew up in the Lane area and graduated in 1949 from Lane High School.
She later moved to the Kansas City area, where she lived for many years. She moved to Taft, Calif., in 1979 and to Richmond in 1995.
Mrs. Hamblin was a homemaker. She also worked as a heavy equipment operator in oil field construction for about 13 years, retiring in 1991.
Preceding her in death were four brothers, Garland Taylor, Carl Taylor, Darrel Taylor and Roy Taylor.
Survivors include her husband, James R. Hamblin of the home; a daughter, Sandy Bauer of Jacksonville, Fla.; three stepsons, Jesse R. Hamblin II and Garry Hamblin of Richmond and Al Hamblin of Bakersfield, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Kathy Hamblin of Bakersfield; five sisters, Alice Mason of Lawrence, Blanche Lowe of Basehor, Vera Shurtz of Kansas City, Kan., Rita Taylor of Ottawa and Wanda Lynch of Vanceburg, Ky.; three brothers, Bud Taylor and Ralph Taylor of Ottawa and Ray Taylor of Pomona; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Services were Sunday in Dengel and Son Mortuary in Ottawa, and burial was in Richmond Cemetery.
n Memorials may be sent to the Ruhamah Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.

Samuel G. Dailey
(Feb. 11, 1912 - Nov. 26, 2000)

Samuel George Dailey, 88, Stilwell, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, in his farm home.
He was born Feb. 11, 1912, the third child of Samuel George and Clara Christine Traeger Dailey. He grew up on the family dairy farm and was working as a night manager for DuPont Greenhouse when he met and married Nedra Agnes Knatzar in 1936.
During World War II he worked as a powder blender at Sunflower Ordnance Plant and then later as a landscaper for Graybar Nursery. Mr. Dailey was working for Dailey Sanitation Service in 1950 when he moved his growing family from their home on 75th Street to acreage he and his wife purchased in southern Johnson County, Kan.
There he first raised chickens, then hogs and various grain crops, all the while still working "in town" before retiring in 1969 as a maintenance foreman for Johnson County Wastewater.
His hobbies were fishing and hunting and he loved the outdoors. He also had a knack for creative repairs of all kinds.
Those preceding him in death were two brothers, William and Thomas; and two sisters, Josephine Dougherty and Dorothy Jenkins.
Survivors include his wife, Nedra Dailey, of the home; five daughters, Dona Lawrence of La Cygne, Judy Franluk of Kansas City, Kan., Pat Essrey of Maryland Heights, Mo., Sandy Molitor of Blue Springs, Mo., and Susie Burgess of La Porte, Texas; a son, Michael Dailey of Belton, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral Mass was held Wednesday in St. Sabina's Catholic Church in Belton. Burial was in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Wea. Arrangements were directed by Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore, Mo.

Thelma Loretta Shoemaker
(Oct. 1, 1910 - Nov. 27, 2000)

Thelma Loretta Shoemaker, 90, Blue Springs, Mo., a former Osawatomie and Beagle resident, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, in the Blue Springs Care Center. She had made her home there since 1992.
Born Oct. 1, 1910 in Kinmundy, Ill., she was the oldest of the five children of James Oscar and Jennie Elizabeth Spicer Rennie. After graduating from Shenandoah, Iowa, High School, she attended nurse's training for a short time. She also attended business college in Shenandoah and then worked for Henry Fields Seed Co.
She and Hugh Thomas Shoemaker were married April 8, 1934, in Shenandoah where they lived for a short time before moving to a farm 2 miles east of Beagle. In 1942 they moved into Osawatomie and then back to the farm in 1951. They returned to Osawatomie in 1968.
Mrs. Shoemaker was a dedicated mother and homemaker and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Osawatomie.
Those preceding her in death were her husband, Hugh Shoemaker, who died March 18, 1989; three siblings who died in infancy; and a brother, Paul.
Survivors include her two sons, James Rennie Shoemaker of Blue Springs and Hugh LeRoy Shoemaker of Richmond; three daughters, Marilyn Carol Luther of Taos, N.M., Thelma Jean Viers of Lamar, Mo., and Beverly Ann Watson of Independence, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Beagle Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Viers, Bryan Beck, Tom Shoemaker, Russell Viers, Scott Shoemaker, Tom Watson IV, Jared Watson, Micah Watson and Seth Watson.
n Memorials may be made to the church.

Rollin V. Gittings Jr.
(Nov. 7, 1914 - Nov. 21, 2000)

Rollin V. Gittings Jr., 86, Kansas City, Mo., a native of Parker, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, in Bethany Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
He was born Nov. 7, 1914, in the Parker area where he grew up and graduated from Parker Rural High School in 1932.
After graduating he worked for Beech Craft Aviation. Mr. Gittings was a member of the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and served in the European Theater in Italy.
After the war he settled in Kansas City and was employed by Trans World Airlines as an airframe and power plant mechanic. His retirement came in 1980.
He and Anna Mae Richardson were married May 17, 1942.
Mr. Gittings was an active member of the West Plaza Neighborhood Association and the Central Assembly of God Church.
Those preceding him in death included his wife, Anna Mae Gittings, who died in 1999; his brother, Paul Edmund Gittings; and a granddaughter, Emma Anne Gittings.
Survivors include his son, Steven V. Gittings of Petion-Ville, Haiti, and one granddaughter.
Services were Saturday in Charter Funerals Kansas Chapel in Merriam. Burial was in Highland Cemetery at Parker.
