ORVILLE L. POTTER
MONTEZUMA -- Orville Lee Potter, 80, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at his home in Montezuma.
He was born Sept. 5, 1920, to Nelson and Mary Grace (Kitch) Potter in Gray County.
He married Esther Ethel Keller June 23, 1949, in Perryton, Texas. She survives.
He served in the U.S. Army Airforce as a sergeant during World War II.
He and his wife moved from Pratt to Montezuma in 1972.
He was a laborer in the construction business.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and a past member of the VFW and American Legion, all in Pratt.
He attended the United Methodist Church in Montezuma.
Other survivors include one daughter, Linda Kay Lampe and husband, Kelly, Edison, Neb.; and two granddaughters, Katie and Killy Lampe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wilbur Potter and Harold Potter; and one sister, Wilma Schwiekhard.
Military graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery
in Montezuma with the Rev. Gene Eshleman presiding. Military services will be conducted by the Fort Riley Military Funeral Detail in Fort Riley.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has already taken place.
Memorial are suggested to the Hospice of the Prairie in Dodge City in care of Montezuma Funeral Home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS, 67867.
VELMA L. BRYAN
ELKHART -- Velma Leona (Taylor) Bryan, 76, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, in Elkhart.
She was born Sept. 23, 1924, to Pearly and Elma Taylor in Blair.
She married Charles Edwin Cook June 29, 1943. They spent most of their married life in Richfield.
Later she married Virgil Bryan. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Cook and wife, Carolyn, Haviland, and Steven Cook and wife, Treva, Muskogee, Okla.; two daughters, Carolyn Dixon, Rolla, and Mary Dannels and husband, Gary, Eagles Nest, N.M.; eight step-children, Clifford, Ruthie, Juanita, Denise, Velma, Eddie, Donna, and Phyllis; three brothers, Howard Taylor, Doc Taylor and Robert Taylor; one sister, Venice Collins; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday at the Rolla United Methodist Church. Additional services will be held Wednesday in Pierce City, Mo.
Burial will be at the City Cemetery.
JAMES H. HUNT
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- James Hulet Hunt, 78, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
He was born Dec. 17, 1922.
He lived in Liberal from the age of two until the second world war.
He was a field representative for Lockheed Aeronautical Company and retired in 1988 to Fayetteville.
Survivors include his wife, Melinda S. Hunt, Fayetteville; one son, James H. Hunt Jr., Severna Park, Md.; one daughter, Rhonda C. Nedell, Rocky Hill, Conn.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Jan. 13 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville with the Rev. David M. Chamberlain presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John's Episcopal Church building fund, P.O. Box 722, Fayetteville, N.C. 28302.
Cape Fear Crematory in Fayetteville was in charge of arrangements.
JOYCE MANSELL
Joyce Mansell, 64, Liberal, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born July 13, 1936, to Harry J. and Nellie M. (Craig) Bruner in Kismet.
She married Sam Mansell Nov. 20, 1969, in Guymon, Okla. He survives.
She attended Kismet High School and had worked at Eureka Laundry in Liberal for several years.
She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church in Liberal.
Other survivors include one sister, Dorothy Olgesbey, Gulfport, Miss.; one sister-in-law, Judy Bruner, Liberal; one aunt, Marilyn Craig, Liberal; friend, Randy Losey, Las Animas, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Galen Wriston.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Miller Chapel in Liberal.
Burial will be at the Kismet Cemetery
in Kismet.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Thursday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
ROBERT B. HOLDER
Robert B. "Bob" Holder, 83, Liberal, died Monday, March 19,
2001, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
He was born Feb. 18, 1918, to Jerry B. and Rosetta G. (Bradley) Holder in Valliant, Okla.
He married Lorene Hubbard in 1940 in Ardmore, Okla.
He was a lifelong cowboy. He worked in Nebraska; Oklahoma; Kansas; New Mexico; Sedgwick, Colo., from 1967-1977; and Muleshoe, Texas, from 1986-1993. He retired in 1984.
He moved to Liberal from Muleshoe in 1993.
He was a member of the Turtle Association, now known as the Pro Rodeo Cowboy Association.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Holder, Ruidiso, N.M.; three daughters, Mary Holder and Ruthy Grinstead and husband, Ike, all of Liberal, and Darla Kinsey and husband, Jim, Fort Morgan, Colo.; one sister, Altie O'Flaherty, Houston; 10 grandchildren, Dean and Beth Furman, Shane and Michelle Holder, Nicole Holder, Vanessa Onsurez, Larry and DeAnn Bull and Cheyenne Holder; and seven great-grandchildren, Makaila Furman, Amy and Patrick Spurgeon, Brittney and Jordan Ashcraft,, Dahlia Onsurez, Zach and Dexter Kinsey and Lacy and Nina Kinsey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, one sister and one daughter-in-law.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Miller Chapel in Liberal with Rick Ediger presiding.
Burial will be at the Arkalon Cemetery
in rural Liberal.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
DALE REESE
MINNEOLA -- Dale Reese, 75, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Minneola District Hospital in Minneola.
He was born March 15, 1926, to William Roy and Belle (Johnson) Reese on his family's farm north of Fowler.
He was a 1944 graduate of Fowler High School. After graduation, he entered the United States Army and served in the Pacific Theater of Operation.
He was a farmer and a cattleman.
He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1187 and attended the First Christian Church, both in Dodge City.
His hobbies included fishing.
Survivors include two daughters, Diana Reese-Oster and husband, Fran, Montezuma, and Dana Reese-Frazier and husband, Jess, Fowler; two brothers, Dean Reese, Fowler, and Richard Reese, Caldwell, Idaho; two sisters, Lula Belle Sobba, Fowler, and Mariam Joan Huslig, Spearville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lloyd Johnson Reese.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fowler Cemetery
in Fowler with Pastor Nolan Head presiding.
Burial will follow at the Fowler Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 9-11 a.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.

ELDEAN NEESE
GARDEN CITY -- Eldean "Dean" Neese, 57, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita.
He was born Dec. 17, 1943, to H.O. and Mae (Fuller) Neese in Liberal.
He married Edwina Saiz Jan. 7, 1962, in Liberal. She survives.
He grew up and attended school in Liberal.
He moved to Garden City in 1962, where he owned and operated Neese Painting.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Eagles Lodge.
His hobbies included golfing, fishing and traveling.
He was God-father to Mandy and Josh Herrell.
Other survivors include one brother, Gerald Neese, Liberal; four sisters, Margaret Hinz, Liberal, Charlene Miller, Hardesty, Okla., Nancy Pittman, Turpin, Okla., and Doris Ann Gordon, Canute, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ricky Dean Neese; one brother; and five sisters.
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Knights of Columbus Rosary will follow.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father James E. Baker presiding.
Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery
in Garden City.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
