ANTONIO RIVAS
ULYSSES Antonio Rivas, 68, Ulysses, died Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita.
He was born Feb. 7, 1934, to Cecilio and Angela (Chavez) Rivas in San Pedro de las Colonias Coahuila Partido, Juarez, Mexico.
He married Aracelia Ochoa Nov. 29, 1983, in New Mexico. She survives.
He had been a resident of Ulysses since 1974.
He was a farmer.
Other survivors include two sons, Lorenzo Rivas, Holcomb, and Carlos Rivas, Colorado; five daughters, Maria Antonia Trevino, Oklahoma, Alicia Rodriguez, Priscilla Rivas and Aracelia Rivas, all of Ulysses, and Armida Ramirez, Texas; two brothers, Manuel Rivas, Mexico, and Santana Rivas, Texas; two sisters, Simona Perez and Epifania Griego, both of Mexico; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Faustino Rivas; and one sister, Eduarda Rivas.
Evening services were at 7 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Ulysses with the Rev. Manual Perez presiding.
Burial was at Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses.

FLORENCE MCCONCHIE
HUGOTON -- Florence McConchie, 93, Hugoton, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.
GRACIE B. STRICKLAND
HUGOTON -- Gracie B. Strickland, 72, Hugoton, died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
She was born Nov. 22, 1929, to Oliver and Nellie (Sparks) Hall in Powell County, Ky.
She married Raymond Lee Strickland Nov. 22, 1946, in Winchester, Ky. He survives.
She and her husband moved to Stevens County in 1957.
She was a homemaker and had craft stores in Hugoton for several years.
She was a Cub Scout leader, was a member of Ladies Auxiliary and was a past member of the Jaycee Jaynes.
Other survivors include two sons, Linn Wayne Strickland and wife, Cora, and Edward Lee Strickland, all of Hugoton; one step-son, F. Ray Strickland, Indianapolis, Ind.; two brothers, Herman Hall and Ottis Hall, both of Stanton, Ky.; two sisters, Hattie Bailey, Wichita, and Reola Thorpe, Stanton; four grandchildren, Stacey Lyn, Kristen Sue, Brian Edward and Ashton Nicole; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ruth and Ann.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton with the Rev. Robert Bailey presiding.
Friends may call to sign the registrar from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Paul's Funeral Home.

ROBERT R. GILLASPIE
ELKHART -- Robert R. Gillaspie, 72, died Monday, April 22, 2002, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart.
He was born March 8, 1930, to Nimrod and Eula Pearl (Hutson) Gillaspie in Texas County, Okla.
He married Catherine Wallace Dec. 22, 1951, in Baltimore. She preceded him in death.
He had been a life-long resident of Elkhart.
He was a barber and auctioneer.
He was an official for football and basketball games for many years.
He was also organizer of the Elkhart Little League and worked with the organization for many years.
Survivors include one son, Robert Ralph Gillaspie Jr., Beaver, Okla.; his mother, Elkhart; three brothers, Joe Martin Gillaspie, Rozel, Donald Dale Gillaspie, Gatesville, Texas, and Morris Edward Gillaspie, Douglas, Texas; three sisters, Virginia Bracken, Fort Worth, Texas, Belva McBee, Tyrone, Okla., and Betty Fern Davolt, Keyes, Okla.; and special friends, Phyllis Farmer and her daughter, Bridgette.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma June Truhlar.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Harrell Chapel in Elkhart with the Rev. Ron Crosley presiding.
Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.

IVA I. BRICKER
ULYSSES -- Iva I. Bricker, 85, Ulysses, died Saturday, April 20, 2002, at Bob Wilson Memorial Grant County Hospital in Ulysses.
She was born Sept. 12, 1916, to John Oliver and Ruth Leafee (Stevens) Hale in Mooringsport, La.
She married Clyde H. Bricker May 5, 1936, in Natoma. He died March 29, 1968.
She and her husband moved from Gorham to Ulysses in October 1946.
She worked as the head cook for Ulysses schools from 1947-1968.
After her husband died, she went back to school and received an LPN degree.
She traveled to many countries during the 1970s.
She was a member of the Shelton Memorial Christian Church and Eastern Star, both of Ulysses.
Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, gardening, growing flowers and genealogy.
Survivors include two daughters, Norma Jean Bricker and Warrena I. Bricker Balcom, both of Ulysses; one brother, John Carroll Hale, Jefferson City, Mo.; two sisters, Pauline Bryant and Edna Williams, both of Littlerock, Ark.; two grandchildren, Clyde R. Balcom and Audra I. Rowson; and numerous other relatives.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with the Minister Bill Harrold presiding.
Burial will be at Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Grant County Funeral Home in Ulysses.

FLORENCE MCCONCHIE
HUGOTON -- Florence McConchie, 93, Hugoton, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
She was born Dec. 15, 1908, to George and Dora (Bearce) Howell in Plains.
She married Daniel Glen Webber. He died in 1947.
She married Joe McConchie in June 1949. He died in 1971.
She had been a resident of Hugoton since 1928.
She worked at the Hugoton Post Office, Fankhauser's Toggery and McDonalds Department Store.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, all in Hugoton.
Survivors include one son, Alvin Webber, Bella Vista, Ark.; two daughters, Doris Backus, Borger, Texas, and Elsie Webber, San Antonio; one brother, Warren Howell, El Paso, Texas; one sister, Kay Applegate, Chapel Hill, N.C.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters; and one grandson, David Scott Webber.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Hugoton with the Rev. Nel Holmes presiding.
Burial will follow at Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

TONY W. KIRBY
ENSIGN -- Tony Wayne Kirby, 58, Ensign, died Monday, April 22, 2002, at Dodge City Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City.
He was born Feb. 6, 1944, to Robert Lee and Bernice (Friddle) Crenshaw in Fort Worth, Texas.
He married Fatemeh "Mary" Niei July 17, 1981, in Anaheim, Calif. She survives.
He graduated from Montezuma High School in Montezuma in 1961.
He and his wife moved from Anaheim to Ensign in 1995.
He was a commercial painter.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Other survivors include two sons, John Kirby and James Kirby, both of Ensign; three daughters, Iris Kirby and April Kirby, both of Phoenix, and Nassim Kirby, Ensign; his father, of Montezuma; one half-brother, Randall Crenshaw, Dodge City; one sister, Marcia Lobban, Dallas; one half-sister, Vicki Salmon, San Antonio; and two grandchildren, Kiley and Nathan.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma with the Rev. Gene Eshleman presiding.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery
in Montezuma.
