Jack Switzer, 45, of Burlington, died at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday at his home. He was a plumber with C. L. Newby Co., Florence.

Survivors include a son, Brian K. Switzer of Florence; his mother, Zelda Switzer of Burlington; a brother, Kevin Switzer of Inverness, Fla.; sisters, Darlene Peddicord of Burlington and Karen Dalton of Demossville; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Berean Baptist Church, Independence. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati.

Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere, is handling arrangements.

William E. Timmers, 64, of Covington, died at 1:30 p.m. Monday at his home. He was a retired mechanic with Terrace Hilton Hotel, Cincinnati, and a member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife, Fay W. Timmers of Covington; a son, William Scott Timmers of Covington; a daughter, Lisa Armstrong of Newport; stepsons, Stephen Beson of Tam pa, Fla., and Robert Beson of Cincinnati; stepdaughters, Mary Henry of Philadelphia, Patti Atkisson and Noel Thesing, both of Cincinnati; sisters, Eugenia Justice of Florence, Carol Moore and Dorothy Trentkamp, both of Covington; and nine grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Cincinnati.

Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington 41014, or American Cancer Society, 7730 U.S. 42, Suite C6, Florence 41042.

Robert E. Young Sr., 83, of Cincinnati, formerly of Independence, died Friday at his home. He was a retired foreman with Jones and Laughlin Co., Cincinnati, and a retired courier with Purolator Courier, Cincinnati.

Survivors include his wife, Mary D. Young; a son, Robert E. Young Jr. of Morning View; daughters, Barbara Hines and Robin Sinex, both of Delhi, Ohio; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

Ralph Bamberger Sr., filled long life with work, pride

Ralph J. Bamberger Sr. worked until he was 80, kept in touch with his children and made church a regular part of his life.

Perhaps that's why he lived to be 90 years old, said a son, Ralph J. Bamberger Jr. of Edgewood.

"He stayed slim and trim. He wasn't a heavy eater or drinker," said the younger Bamberger. "He looked forward to every day to see if he could help someone."

Ralph Bamberger Sr., of Taylor Mill, died at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas.

He was a retired owner of Office Machine Services in Cincinnati and a member of Holy Cross Church in Latonia. A son, Thomas Hall Bamberger, died in 1978.

Mr. Bamberger repaired bookkeeping and adding machines. He served banks in Cincinnati and often traveled to other parts of the country, said the younger Bamberger. The elder Bamber ger often drove fellow parishioners to church.

"He was always fair to people. I was proud of him," the younger Bamberger said. "He was soft-spoken and didn't like to say anything bad about anybody."

Other survivors include his wife, Martha Elizabeth Hall Bamberger; daughters, Martha Ann Allen and Elizabeth Bee Haubner, both of Taylor Mill; a brother, Frank Bamberger Sr. of Cold Spring; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Ft. Wright. Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Elementary School, 3617 Church St., Latonia, Ky., 41015, or Fairhaven Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 761, Covington, Ky., 41012-0761.

Earl Langley Curtis, 66, of Alexandria, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired paint pump repairman with General Motors in Norwood, Ohio, and a member of Garrard Street Church of Christ, Covington.

Survivors include sons, Steven Arnold Curtis of Dayton, Bruce Edward Curtis of Erlanger, Danny Ray Curtis of Newport, Glen Alen Curtis and John Dale Curtis, both of Alexandria; daughters, Janet Lee Combs of Dayton, Kathy Marie Martin of Alexandria, Beverly Ann Raleigh of Newport and JoAnn McDuffee of Hamilton, Ohio; sisters, Ocie Hale of Pendleton County, Clara Jane Schaper of Middletown, Ohio, and Doris Jett of Batavia, Ohio; brothers, Steve Curtis of Taylor Mill and Samuel Grant Curtis Jr. Monticello; 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Burial will be in Peach Grove Cemetery.

Irene B. Fenton, 78, of Covington, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. Arrangements are pending at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Erlanger.

Elvada Taylor Foster, 95, of Taylor Mill, died at 9:17 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

She was a retired nurse and a member of Booth Hospital Nurses Alumni Association. She was a member of Latonia Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, Herbert LaMore Foster, died in 1981. Her daughters, Mary Elaine Hageman died in 1985 and Gleena LaMore Stenger died on June 25.

Survivors include a daughter, F. Eileen Foster of Cap Carteret, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Earl Gieringer, 90, of Owenton, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

He was a mail clerk and a member of Presbyterian Church in Miamitown, Ohio. He was an Army veteran.

Survivors include a niece, Patsy Cammack, and a nephew, Billy Ellis, both of Owenton.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home, Main Street, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton.

Howard Owen, 59, of Walton, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

He was a retired teacher. He taught at a rural Pendleton County school and at Chase Elementary School, Cincinnati. He taught for 30 years. He was owner of Execuline Charter Bus Service, Boone County, and was a professional musician with the Howard Owen Trio. He was a former bus driver with Grey hound Bus Lines and a member of Grants Lick Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Williams Owen; a son, Gregory Owen of Walton; a daughter, Sheila Pelle of Taylor Mill; a brother, Homer Owen III of Alexandria; sisters, Myra Jane Crowley and Kathleen Simmons, both of Butler, and Marilyn Dorsey of Crestwood; and two grandchildren.

Services were Wednesday at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Burial was in Butler Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington 41014, or American Cancer Society, 7730 U.S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky., 41042.

Larry Roden Jr., 24, of Taylor Mill, died at 2 a.m. Wednesday in Clermont County, Ohio, of injuries suffered in an auto accident.

Arlene A. Sams, 81, of Latonia, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday at her home.

She was a member of Dry Ridge Presbyterian Church and was an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include a daughter, Gillene "Gale" Sipple of Walton; brothers, H. Ray Aldredge of East Peoria, Ill., and Raymond Frazelle of Princeville, Ill.; a sister, Sylvia Kerns of Peoria, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky., 41014, or the church, 15 Warsaw Ave., Dry Ridge, Ky., 41035.

Byron L. "Sam" Trapp, 61, of Alexandria, died at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

He was a retired equipment operator for Cincinnati Gas & Electric. He was a deacon at Persimmon Grove Baptist Church, Alexandria. He was a board member with the Persimmon Grove Cemetery, Alexandria, and with Southern States Co-op, Campbell County. He was a past president of the Farm Bureau of Campbell County, a past master of Aspen Grove Lodge No. 397 F & A.M. in Grant's Lick, and a past patron of the Alexandria Chapter No. 337, Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include his wife, Annabell Trapp; sons, Jon Trapp of Grant's Lick, Dab Trapp of Alexandria, and Sam Trapp of California; his mother, Hassie Trapp of California; a sister, Yvonne Thompson of California; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Persimmon Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Persimmon Grove Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church, 5196 Persimmon Grove Pike, Alexandria 41001, or to Aspen Grove Lodge No. 397, F & A.M., P.O. Box 443, Alexandria 41001. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
