Anthony Sterbling, 74, of Erlanger, died Sunday at his home. He was a retired truck driver with Kahn's and Son and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Cres cent Springs.
Survivors include sons, Daniel Sterbl ing of Hebron, Michael Sterbling and Jeff Sterbling, both of Erlanger; daugh ters, Sharyn Berry of Er langer and Susan Whitson of Morning View; sisters, Mary Ann Hafner of Tulsa, Okla., and Theresa Shingler of Orlando, Fla.; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorial Mass of Chris tian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Vis itation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Etholene Swango, 99, of Warsaw, died at 2:35 p.m. Monday at Gallatin County Health Care Center in War saw. She was a cook with Gallatin County High School, and a member of Warsaw Baptist Church. Her husband, Curtis Swan go, died in 1964. A son, Marvin R. Swango, died in 1933.
Survivors include sons, Joe Swango of Florence and William H. Swango of Colfax, Ill.; three grandchild ren and seven great- grand children.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home in Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funer al home. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery.

Newport's Edward E. Craig, served city, family, schools
Edward E. Craig never could bring himself to retire. He tried twice: first leaving Newport Public Works after 20 years, then Southgate Schools after several more. It wasn't until Mr. Craig left Campbell County Schools last August that he finally got some well-deserved rest.
Mr. Craig, 74, of Newport, died Wednesday at his home.
He was a retired superintendent of Newport Public Works, and a retired maintenance man with Southgate Elementary School and Campbell County Courthouse.
"He was a devoted family man: a devoted husband, father and grandfather," said his wife, Dorothy Mae Craig.
"He always had a kind word for everybody."
Mr. Craig enjoyed fishing and bowling.
Mrs. Craig said her husband dedicated much of his time in recent years to his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Craig was a World War II Army veteran. He received the Purple Heart and several other medals for service in the Battle of the Bulge and other battles. Mrs. Craig said Mr. Craig was one of five remaining from the 350-member 45th anti-aircraft division.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 11, Newport.
Mr. Craig was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and Billy Craig.
Survivors include sons, Robert Craig of Newport and Edward Craig of Lakeside Park; daughters, Beverly Maline and Cindy Scott, both of Newport, Cathy Lightner of Florence and Susan Wills of Ft. Thomas; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Edwin Wayne Caldwell, 93, of Grants Lick, died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. He was a retired employee of Campbell County Road Department.
Survivors include his wife, Ora Caldwell; a son, Kenneth Caldwell of Alexandria; a daughter, Jean Dees of Alexandria; and three grandchildren.

Reed Herald, 75, of Highland Heights, died Tuesday at Dea coness Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired shiping clerk with Kent Corp., Bellevue, and a member of New Macedonia Baptist Church, Newport. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Herald; daughters, Bonnie Sue Deaton of Walton and Shirley Ann Griffith of Campton; a son, Donald R. Herald of Morning View; brothers, James Herald and Ledford Herald, both of Newport; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ruth J. Kennedy, 78, of Edgewood, died at 9:21 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a former volunteer at the hospital.

Bruce A. Munson, 38, of Florence, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a machine operator with Crescent Paper Tube Co., Florence, and a member of Florence Baptist Church.

Walden Teegarden, 83, of Dover, died Tuesday in Vanceburg Rehabilitation Health Care Center. He was a retired Air Force staff sergeant and a member of Dover Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Audrey Castle of Wallingford; a brother, Harold Randolph "Jack" Teegarden of Maysville; and 12 grandchildren.

Julius "Jude' Stumpf liked to help people
Julius "Jude" Stumpf was one of the quiet people who become the fabric of a community.
Mr. Stumpf, 92, of Warsaw and formerly of Bromley, was a mechanic for 40 years for the old Cincinnati Transit Co. He spent his off hours repairing cars and trucks for neighbors, often at no cost.
He had kind words for everyone he knew and was never too busy to help a friend.
"He was real friendly. A lot of the older people in Bromley knew him," said a son, Richard K. Stumpf of Erlanger.
Mr. Stumpf died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
He was a member of the Bromley Christian Church, a member of the Transit Union, and a past contributor to the Bromley Fire Department. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Eunice Stumpf, died in 1985.
Mr. Stumpf was born in Indiana but spent most of his life in Northern Kentucky. He enjoyed watching speed races and repairing cars.
"Dad was a compassionate man. I don't think he had an enemy in the world. It didn't make any difference who you were; he would help you out if he could," Richard Stumpf said.
Other survivors include a stepson, Charles Bailey of Florence; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
