Henry Chapman

June 17, 1927 - November 14, 2005

Henry Chapman, 78, Glasgow, died Monday, November 14, 2005, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A son of the late William “Bill” and Cassie Basil Chapman, he was a plumber and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Thompson Chapman; four sons, Chuck Chapman and his wife, Delma of Arkansas, Charlie Chapman and his wife Melissa, Timmy Chapman and his wife T. J. and Tony Chapman and his wife Joan, all of Glasgow; two daughters, Glada Hickman and Ricky Gore of Tennessee and Becky Ramsey and her husband Mike, Lexington; five brothers, Earl Chapman, Stanley Chapman, Ricky Chapman, Terry Chapman all of Glasgow and Bobby Chapman of Georgia; six sisters: Ethel Morgan and Lou Ann England of Indiana, Mary Abney, Geneva Riddle, Mayola Chapman and Virginia Jones of Glasgow; eleven grandchildren: Josh Chapman, Adam Chapman, Michael Thomerson, Nikki Proffitt, Bradley Chapman, Chris Chapman, Matthew Chapman, Taylor Chapman, Autumn Chapman, Daylan Chapman, Breanna Chapman; five great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral will be 11:00 A. M. Thursday, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 A. M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow at the cemetery.

James Obie Chapman

November 23, 1962 - December 25, 2003

James Obie Chapman, 41, of Glasgow died Thursday, December 25, 2003 as the result of an auto accident. He was the son of William Edward “Red” Chapman and Edna May Clark Chapman.

Besides his parents he is survived by his wife: Martha Gail Huff Chapman; one child: Jamie Lee Chapman of Glasgow; two step-children: Dianna and Michael Cleveland of Glasgow; two brothers: Buck Chapman and his wife Penny and Roy Chapman and his Janetta of Glasgow; four sisters: Kathy Carmichael and her husband Glen of Glasgow, Brenda Nifong and Tim of Glasgow, Donitta Tyler and her husband John of Glasgow, Mamie Flowers and her husband Leon of Franklin, KY; His mother and father in-law: G. B. and Elnora Huff; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Jessie Lee Chapman

September 29, 1912 - March 10, 2004

Jessie Lee Estes Chapman, 91, Glasgow, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . A native of Missouri, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Lula Johnson Estes and had been a lifelong resident of Barren County . She was a homemaker and a member of the Little Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Denison and Wanda Hanking and her husband, James, all of Glasgow ; one son, Fidel “Jack” Chapman, Jr. and his wife, Frances, of Haywood; three grandchildren, Steve Chapman and his wife, Darlene, Debbie Wood and her husband, Tommy, all of Glasgow, and Tim Denison of Louisville; nine great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Samuel Estes of Indiana and Leamon Estes of Bowling Green; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fidel Chapman, Sr.; one great-granddaughter, Stephanie Chapman; one son-in-law, Damon Denison; one great-grandson-in-law, Joey Thomason; one brother, Woodrow Estes; six sisters, Hazel Turner, Laura Turner, Mabel Brownfield, Blanche Brownfield, Janie Lou Nichols and Betty Jean Brown.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Helen Kathy Chapman

June 26, 1952 - June 8, 2002

Helen Kathern (Kathy) Chapman age 49 of Glasgow died Saturday at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. She was the daughter of the lat Joe H. and Mae Compton Jessie. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband Stanley Chapman. One Daughter: Michelle Byrd and her husband Kevin of Glasgow. One Step Son: Stanley Chapman Jr. Three Step Daughters: Candy Gail Fivecoats of Indiana, Tasha Eatmon of Glasgow and Crystal Hutton of Glasgow. Seven Grandchildren. Seven Sisters: Blanche Greer, Margaret Ramey and Linda Cannon all of Cave City, Jean Sexton of Edmonton, Edna Sexton of Louisville, Elsie Isengurg of Bowling Green and Mildred Smith of Glasgow. Three Brothers: Samuel Jessie of Temple Hill, Manuel Jessie of Lodiburg and Danny Jessie of Louisville.

Funeral will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 P.M. Sunday.

Frances Chapman

Frances Chapman, 90, of Chattanooga, Tn. passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the home of her sister, Jean Hatchett in Chattanooga. She had been a member of Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga since 1978. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Houston Chapman and a son, Gary Chapman. Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Terry Hatchett and one nephew, Richey Hatchett all of Chattanooga. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Saturday in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Friday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Stephanie Chapman

February 1, 1978 - February 27, 2001

Stephanie Darlene Chapman, 23, daughter of Steve and Darlene Chapman died Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. She was a member of Dover Baptist Church, a 1996 graduate of Barren County High School and was currently a senior at the University Of Kentucky.

She is survived by her parents: Steve and Darlene Chapman; One brother: Jeff Chapman and his wife Leandrea of Glasgow; Two sisters: Staci Chapman and Lauren Chapman of Glasgow; Paternal Grandparents: Fidel, Jr. (Jack) and Frances Chapman; Maternal Grandmother: Lois Smith of Glasgow; Paternal Great-Grandmothers: Jessie Lee Chapman and Beatrice Glass of Glasgow; one nephew Seth Chapman; Three aunts: Debbie Wood of Glasgow, Diane Harrison of Glasgow and Brenda Lawrence of Oakland; Two uncles: Danny Smith of Bowling Green and Keith Smith of Glasgow. She was preceded in death by her Maternal Grandfather; Wilson Smith.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Dover Baptist Church near Haywood with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society or the National Cancer Institute.

John Sam Cheatham

August 24, 1918 - November 11, 2003

John Sam Cheatham, 85, Glasgow, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the NHC Health Care Center. A son of the late Horace and Amanda Jeffries Cheatham, he was a retired insurance salesman. Mr. Cheatham was a United States Army veteran of WW II, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Glasgow Baptist Church .

Survivors include his wife, Lilly; three daughters, Peggy Aymond and her husband, Ned, of Cookeville, TN, Barbara McGuire and her husband, Jeff, of Bowling Green, and Sherri Morgan and her husband, Stephen, of Virginia, three grandchildren, Ricky McCoy, Tracy Dixon and Brittany Stricklin; one brother, Will Cheatham; six sisters, Louise Tarry, Evelyn Marcum, Linda Byrd, Mary Catherine Foster, Bertha Williams and Joann McCoy; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the New Salem cemetery . Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lilly Mae Cheatham

April 18, 1922 - June 1, 2004

Lilly Mae Cheatham, 82, Glasgow, died Tuesday, June 01, 2004, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . A daughter of the late Virgil and Maude Vinson Lane, she was a retired employee of Sorensen’s in Glasgow and a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church .

Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Aymond and her husband, Ned, of Cookeville, TN, Barbara McGuire and her husband, Jeff, of Bowling Green, and Sherri Morgan and her husband, Stephen, of Virginia; three grandchildren, Ricky McCoy, Tracy Dixon and Brittany Stricklin; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Haskell Lane of Merry Oaks; one sister, Alta Jones of Louisville; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Sam Cheatham and one brother, Clyde Lane .

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the New Salem cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Donald Christie

July 12, 1946 - December 20, 2005

Donald Wayne Christie, 59, Glasgow, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at his residence. A native of Barren County, he was a retired employee of NIBCO, Inc. and a member of the Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Juan Christie of Charleston, IN, Jason Christie of Louisville and Donnie Christie of Glasgow; one daughter, Tammy Faust of Louisville; four grandchildren, Clayton Christie, Julia Christie, Lauren Faust and Ryan Faust; his mother, Annie Coop Christie of Glasgow.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Christie, and two brothers, Billy Christie and Bobby Christie.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2005, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

David Ray Christie

September 1, 1961 - October 1, 2001

David Ray Christie, 40, North Green Street, Glasgow, died Monday as a result of an automobile accident. The Barren County native was a graduate of Glasgow High School and an assistant pressman at R.R. Donnelley & Sons.

Survivors include his wife, Anita; two daughters, Shandi Rhea Christie and Hillary Corinne Christie and one step-son, Chad Jackson all at home; his mother and step-father, Sammie Sue and Tony Turner of Glasgow; two brothers, Tommy Jay Christie of Scottsville and Chad Lee Christie of Glasgow; one sister, Kelly Sue Christie of Glasgow; his paternal grandmother, Ann Christie of Glasgow; two nephews, Chase Gregory Christie and Tavian Ryan Christie; several aunts, uncles and cousins and a great-aunt, Mary Meek of Glasgow.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray Christie; his paternal grandfather, Herman Christie and maternal grandparents, Sam and Hallie Gass.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lynn Dalen Christie

December 10, 1939 - April 20, 2002

Lynn “Dalen” Christie, 62, Glasgow, died Saturday at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Barren County, he was a son of Gladys Morgan Christie and the late Guy Homer Christie and a construction worker.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Sue Christie; three sons, Lynn Christie, Ricky Christie and Ronnie Christie all of Indiana; one daughter, Angie Wickershaw of Indiana; his mother, Gladys Christie of Indiana; one sister, Betty Anderson, three brothers, Larry Christie, Dean Christie and Randy Christie all of Indiana; one step-son, Chris Houchens and his wife, Lori of Savoyard; two step-daughters, Connie Neal and Carrie Ogborn and her husband, Dale, all of Glasgow; 16 grandchildren; several relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Myrtie Christy

July 2, 1919 - July 16, 2007

Myrtie Christy, 88 of Columbia, died Monday, July 16, 2007 at her residence. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late James and Fannie Elmore Baldock and a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Barnes of Columbia, Carolyn Cowles and husband Thomas of Edmonson County, and Janetta Chapman and husband Roy of Glasgow. One brother, Loyd Baldock of Louisville. Two sisters, Edith Chism of Glasgow and Lena Emerson of Bon Ayr. Eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In Addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd and one brother Clifton Baldock.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in the Pleasant Grove cemetery in Warren County. Friends may call after 3:00 PM Wednesday at the Funeral Home

Clara L. Church

1908 - 2004

Clara L. Church, 95, Glasgow, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at the NHC Health Care Center. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Nannie Brown Church . She was a retired sales clerk at J.J. Newberry’s and Lerman Bros. Department Store in Glasgow and had been a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church since 1920.

Survivors include one brother, Clyde Church and his wife, Pearl, of Bowling Green ; four nephews, David A. Compton of Mississippi, Sonny Church of Pennsylvania, Steve Church of Bowling Green and Jerry Church of Scottsville. A sister, Ruth Compton, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
