William J. "Jack" Roberts
(February 15, 1922 - April 27, 2015)

The Last Pearl Harbor Survivor of Warren County died on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 11:03 pm in Bowling Green. The Hart county native was born on February 15, 1922. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy on April 1, 1940 in Bowling Green, and was serving aboard the USS Maryland on December 7, 1941, becoming a Pearl Harbor survivor. He continued to be a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. He also continued to serve his country until he retired in October 1959 in Chula Vista, Ca. He was very proud of military service. He then worked for and retired from the Sweetwater School District, also in Chula Vista, Ca. He returned to Bowling Green in September 2003. He loved to garden and take care of his yard. He was a life member of the Fleet Reserve Association, having over 57 years as an active member. He was elected to serve on the National Board of Directors, as Southwest Regional President from 1983 - 1984, which covers Southern California, all of Arizona, Southern Nevada and Western Texas. He was also a life member of the VFW, Post 1298 and a member of the American Legion, Post 23. He was a son of the late Joe Roberts and Anne Pearl Yeats Roberts and was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry, Earl, Edwin, Ernest, James, and sisters, Lucy Nell Sidebottom and Laura Francis Welch, nephew, Gordon Roberts and niece, Beverly Stough. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday, May 1, 2015 and again from 10:00 am - 2:00 on Saturday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, D. Loretta Roberts; one sister, Ann Mosley of Bowling Green; sister-in-law, Shirley, wife of the late James Roberts of Bowling Green; Nieces, Mary Basham and her husband, Jerry of Bowling Green, Marjorie Burchett and her husband, Donald of Louisville, Francis Irwin and her husband, Mike of Lexington, Lona Yeakley of Logan, In, Stacy Roberts of Bowling Green, Mickey Roberts, wife of the late Gordon Roberts of Coatsville, In; nephews, Wayne Mosley and his wife, Doris of Bowling Green, Joe Roberts and his wife, Judy of Marietta, Ga, Kelly Roberts and his wife, Dianne of Woodburn and many great nieces and nephews. Suzanne Hargis Garrity
(Died April 19, 2015)

Suzanne Hargis Garrity, 64, of Bowling Green died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at her home. A Bowling Green native, she was a daughter of the late Elvin E. Hargis and Doris A. Deweese Hargis. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clarence B. and Edith Deweese and her paternal grandparents, William L. and Edith Hargis, and her uncle, Jerry Deweese. Suzanne was a graduate of Bowling Green High School, Class of 68, attended Western Kentucky University, and was a medical billing specialist with Allergy and ENT Associates in Hermitage, TN. She was a charter member of St. James United Methodist Church, was a skilled embroiderer, quilter and gardener. Suzanne was also an avid family genealogist and proud grandmother of eight. Survivors include her husband of almost 45 years, Stephan E. Garrity of Bowling Green; four daughters, Laura S. Bratcher of Hendersonville, TN, Jennifer L. O'Connell (Dan) of Canton, GA, Stephanie R. Masco of Martin, TN, and Jessica K. Hulkower (Ben) of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Marilyn K. Guy of Bowling Green and Cindy J. Whittaker (Bob) of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren, Brent Bratcher, Seth Bratcher, Jack Bratcher, Rhett Bratcher, Madeline O'Connell, Caleb O'Connell, Anna Masco, and William Masco; two sisters-in-law, Joan D. Hines (Ed) of Bowling Green and Emily A. Gouvas (Ernie) of Bowling Green; one uncle, Larry Deweese (Barbara) and one aunt, Carole Deweese; fourteen nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, April 21, 2015 and again from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Wednesday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Southern Kentucky.

Vincent H. Payne
11 July 2001

LEWISPORT -- Vincent H. Payne, 86, of Lewisport died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at his home. The Hancock County native retired as a mechanic from Harry Holder and Payne Automotive after 33 years and was a lifetime member of St. William Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Anna Sue Isbill Payne; two sons, Ernie Payne of Lewisport and Gary Payne of Owensboro; a daughter, Barbara Ann Huskisson of Lewisport; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. William Catholic Church in Knottsville. Burial will be in St. William cemetery in Knottsville. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Frances Morris
(February 5, 1922 - April 15, 2015)

Elizabeth Frances Haynes Morris, widow of William Virgil (Billy V.) Morris, died April 15, 2015, at Christian Health Center in Bowling Green. Born in Oakland, Kentucky, on February 5, 1922, to Webb Haynes and Pattie Claypool Haynes, Frances was a graduate of Western Kentucky University. She worked at a factory during the war and afterwards devoted her life to her family. She and Billy were married for 48 years. Frances loved gardening, cooking, knitting, and reading. A member of Greenwood Baptist Church since 1940, she taught Sunday school and was very involved in the church and in the community. She was also a member of the Homemakers Club. In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by her granddaughters Amy and Kelly and son Joseph Tyler (Pete).

She is survived by son Thomas (Tom) and his wife, Stephanie; grandchildren Alexandra and Zachary; nieces Eileen Ragan, Patricia Motley, and Judy Nakagawa and their families; and loved ones Sharon Morris and Gary and Rachel Brown and their daughters. Visitation will be from 11:00 – 1:00 Saturday, April 18, at Johnson-Vaughn Phelps funeral home. The service will begin at 1:00 with burial to follow at Fairview cemetery. Memorials may be made to Oneida Baptist Institute, the American Heart Association, or one’s favorite charity. The family thanks the caregivers and staff at Christian Health Center for helping take good care of Frances the last few years.

Palma "Pam" Lou Mayhugh
(April 5, 1934 - February 12, 2015)

Palma "Pam" Lou Mayhugh, 80 of Bowling Green died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Greenview Hospital. The Butler County native was a daughter of the late Eckless and Beulah Garrison Wingfield and was preceded in death by three brothers.

She was a retired seamstress from Fruit of the Loom after 35 years of service and was a graduate of Warren County High School and a member of West End Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Leonard Mayhugh; one son, Kevin Mayhugh and his wife, Sharon of Bowling Green; one daughter, Sharon Harman of Alvaton; one brother, Chester Wingfield of Bowling Green; one sister, Lonell Benningfield of Bowling Green; four grandchildren Melissa Harman of Bowling Green, Brittany Harman of Alvaton, Ashley Mayhugh of Bowling Green and Cody Mayhugh of Bowling Green; two great grandchildren, Charley Burns IV of Alvaton and Adrianna Fannin of Bowling Green.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 11:00 am - 8:00 pm and Tuesday, February 16, 2015 from 9:00 am until funeral time.

Fannie A. Middleton
31 July 2001

ROCKPORT, Ind. -- Fannie A. Middleton, 88, of Rockport died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Pelzer, Ind., native was a homemaker and member of Rockport Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ely Clay Middleton, in 1965; a son, James Middleton, in 1967; and two daughters, Clayta Middleton and Maxine Helmrich.

Survivors include four sons, Clayton Middleton Jr., Clay Middleton Jr. and Mike Middleton, all of Rockport, and Richard Middleton of Grandview, Ind.; three daughters, Peggy West of Long Beach, Calif., Barbara Ryan of Rockport and Sarah Eppley of Hawesville; 27 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and four sisters, Edith Winsett, Rosa Peerman and Hazel Perigo, all of Boonville, Ind., and Elizabeth Gross of Rockport.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Burial will be in James Parker cemetery in Hatfield, Ind. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Rockport Church of the Nazarene.

Bonita Young Weaver
(Died February 3, 2015)

Bonita Young Weaver, 61, of Bowling Green died Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. The Warren County native was a daughter of the late Melvin and Juanita Sublett Young and was preceded in death by her brother, Michael P. Young. She was a dental assistant with Diversified Dental and had formerly worked as a hairdresser and waitress. She attended Warren Central High School and was a member of Rich Pond Baptist Church. She was a loving Mother and Nana. She loved spending time with her family and watching her grandkids play sports. Survivors include her son, Chad Hardcastle (Holly) of Bowling Green; two daughters, Lori Hardcastle (Jeremy Perring) and Shuriel Weaver (Waynie Poynter) all of Bowling Green; two brothers, Mark Lane Young (Carmen) and Dennis Wayne Young (Teresa) all of Bowling Green; two sisters, Lou Nell Graham (Doug) and Thelmalene Wimpee all of Bowling Green; sister-in-law, Sandy C. Young of Lewisport, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Desiree Bruner, Makayla Geralds, Dylan Hardcastle, Tyanna Boards and Aden Poynter all of Bowling Green; one great grandchild, Jace Smith of Bowling Green; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Memorial Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with private burial in Fairview cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, February 6, 2015 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home and again from 9:00 am to service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Melvin Glover Jr.
27 May 2001

Melvin Glover Jr., 80, of Philpot died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Middlesboro native retired from The Yarden Center as a salesman and was a member of Mount Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and collecting arrowheads. He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Connie Glover and Bonnie Glover.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Louise Gilmore Glover; a son, Danny Gene Glover of Owensboro; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Margaret Jackson of Bonita Springs, Fla., Arlie Ray of Maceo and Martha Boyle of Owensboro.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cumberland Presbyterian cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Mount Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Harry Robert Robe
August 10, 1928 - March 27, 2015

Dr. Harry Robe of Bowling Green, KY entered into his heavenly rest on Friday, March 27th with his family by his side after a lengthy decline at the age of 86.

Dr. Robe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Phylis Robe, brother William Robe in California, and sisters Dorothy Seneese in illinois, and Maurine Detrick in Florida. His surviving offspring are son Gary Robe of Kingsport, TN, daughter Diane Sprowl of Bowling Green, KY, son Gerald Robe of Denver, CO, and grandchildren Stephanie Leedy of Bowling Green, Dominic Robe of Atlanta, GA, Isaac Robe of Kingsport, TN and Jake Sprowl of Bowling Green.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father Maurice and Nellie Robe, sisters Lois Wing, Nellie June Robe, and brother Ted Robe. Harry was born on August 10, 1928 in Laporte, IN and joined the US Army on the day he graduated High School. He served in the Army with postings in Montana, Honolulu, and Oregon until his discharge in 1948. He attended Manchester College in North Manchester, IN, completing a Bachelor of Science Degree in May, 1952, and continued to Indiana University earning a Master’s Degree in Education in September, 1954.

He then was employed as an elementary school teacher in the South Bend Indiana Public School system from 1954 through 1962. After a severe injury in an ice skating accident in the winter of 1962 he returned to Indiana University, receiving a Doctorate of Psychology Degree in 1965. In 1967 Dr. Robe accepted the position of Head of the Western Kentucky university Department of Psychology and moved to Bowling Green, KY. He continued his employment with the WKU Psychology Department until 1983. Concurrent with his retirement from WKU he and Phylis established the Learning Assistance Center, in Bowling Green, which incorporated tutoring, special needs supplemental education, test preparation and psychological counselling. Dr. Robe was responsible for establishing the Head Start programs in the area as well as instituting the Clinical Psychology training program at WKU.

He recieved a Community Mental Health Pioneer award from LifeSkills, Inc. in 1998. The LAC was closed in 1994 and Dr. Robe continued private psychological consultation and special education services in his home until 1997. Through his work with teaching reading and math-challenged students in the Bowling Green area he turned dozens of underperforming students in the 1980’s and 1990’s into successful professionals today. Dr. Robe and family joined State Street United Methodist Church (SSUMC) upon moving to Bowling Green in 1967, and he became a long-term member of the church board committee, a position he held as long as health permitted as well as being ordained as a Certified Lay Speaker by the United Methodist Church.

Dr. Robe supported Sunday services for residents of the Bowling Green Retirement Village once a month. Harry was also long-time organizer of the Thanksgiving Meal program co-sponsored by SSUMC and State Street Christian Church, recruiting three generations of the Robe Family to dedicate Thanksgiving Day to public service instead of a family celebration. He was an organizing member of the Churches United in Christ Help Ministry, coordinating the financial assistance programs of six area churches and directed the ministry’s program. Dr. Robe was responsible for connecting hundreds of families threatened by loss of utilities, food, housing and transportation with funds provided through the Help Ministry.

He continued administering the Help Ministry until declining health forced his retirement in 2011, but the Help Ministry continues to operate under the foundation Harry provided. He received the Cross and Flame Award from the United Methodist Church for outstanding service to the Boy Scouts of America. In recognition for his efforts in community service, Dr. Robe was earned National recognition with The Jefferson Award for Public Service in 2007. Dr. Harry Robe was a long-time member of the Bowling Green Chapter of Kiwanis, International. One of his favorite activities with Kiwanis was to help area boys from broken families to build and race Soap Box Derby cars. He was recognized for his work in the Kiwanis Club with the Distinguished Service Award many times as well as being named a George F. Hixon Fellow in 2004. Dr. Robe was a role model for generations as an example of humble Christian service and dedication to his strong faith. Visitation for Dr. Harry Robe will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home on Monday, March 30 and additional visitation from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Tuesday at State Street United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 31 at State Street United Methodist Church with inurnment in the State Street United Methodist Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either the Churches United in Christ Help Ministry or the SSUMC Endowment Fund in care of SSUMC (www.statestreetumc.org).

Michael "Bulldog" Drake
January 25, 1959 - March 12, 2015

Michael "Bulldog" Drake, 56 of Bowling Green died Thursday, March 12, 2015 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. The Franklin, Kentucky native was born January 25, 1959, a son of the late Paul Drake and Lila Harlan Drake who survives. He is preceded in death by a brother, Larry Drake. He served in the U. S. Air Force where he was a weapons loader of the A-10 Warthog, he was a graduate of Bowling Green High School and attended Western Kentucky University. He was a member of the Bowling Green High Quarterback Club, the Bluegrass Preps.com, where he was a football rankings moderator, and the National Street Machine Club. He was a Bowling Green High School Football Supporter who spent many hours doing research on all football teams from the very first team to present. He was the Historian for the football team. Many times he was asked if he had any sons who play for the BGHS Purples. He would always answer with a questions of his own: "How many players are there on the team, because that is how many boys I have."

In addition to his mother, Lila Harlan Drake, he is survived by his wife, Leiah Casey Drake of Bowling Green; 13 foster daughters; one brother, Ronnie Drake of Franklin, KY; 6 foster grandchildren; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Luther and Carol Casey of Bowling Green; brother-in-law, Robert Casey of Bowling Green; nephew, Butch and niece, Rynde, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to service time on Saturday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.

Billie Griggs
May 16, 1939 - February 28, 2015

Billie Holman Griggs, 75, of Bowling Green, died Saturday, February 28, 2015 at The Medical Center of Bowling Green. The Bowling Green, Kentucky native was a daughter of the late William W. Holman and Elizabeth Isaacs Holman, she was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Griggs. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Nancy Holman Newton.

Mrs. Griggs was a graduate of College High and attended Western Kentucky University. She was a former board member of Riverview of Hobson Grove. Mrs. Griggs attended Rockfield United Methodist and Calvary Methodist in Nashville, Tn.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Case (Dean) of Owensboro, Beth Given (Scott) of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, Sarah Case, Kathy Brown, Conner Given, and Ameliah Leonhardt (David); one great grandchild, Braxton Brown.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm -8 pm Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home and from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home.

Faye V. Cason
31 May 2001

Faye V. Cason, 93, of Leisure Years Nursing Home in Owensboro died there Tuesday, May 29, 2001. The Paris, Tenn., native retired from A.J. Reynolds Family and was a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church where she was a member of Ladies in White and sang in the Senior Choir. She was a member of Amaranth Chapter 46 of Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed crocheting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph T. Cason in 1984; two sons, John Edwards in 1999 and Alfred Porter in 1977; and a daughter, Mary R. Martin in 1999.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Porter of Paris, Tenn.; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Fourth Street Baptist Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Eastern Star services will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.

Horace Wilson Stahl
October 17, 1927 - April 1, 2015

Horace Wilson Stahl entered into rest on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Greenwood Nursing and Rehab in Bowling Green. Horace Wilson Stahl was born October 17, 1927 in Rockfield, KY, the son of Briggs Stahl and Ruth Wilson Stahl. He graduated from South Warren High School in 1946, and continued farming with his father until 1950. He moved to Bowling Green and was employed by the L & N Railroad. After some time and extensive remodeling of what is lovingly called "The Old Home Place" he moved into the house on Browning Road that was home to five generations of Stahls. In November 1969 he was elected Magistrate in district 6 of Warren County where he served for sixteen years. He was a member of Hillview Heights Church. Mr. Stahl was honored by having a Little League baseball field in Basil Griffin Park named for him for his work he did in getting the park. He was also honored for his work in the community by having a bridge over Clear Fork Creek named in his honor, "The Horace Stahl Bridge." In 1989 he moved from the farm and became employed by the KY Agriculture Department until he was 81 years old. He was appointed Honorary Commissioner of Agriculture. He always said that his most important achievement was his wonderful family. Horace was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Beckner and Helen Tabor; one granddaughter, Jennifer Jo Lyons; and his mother and father, Briggs and Ruth Stahl.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alleyne Allen Stahl; five children, Geary Allen Stahl of Rockfield, Gail Speck (Guy) of Bowling Green, Bonnie Moore (Kennith) of Bowling Green, Marty Stahl (Star) of Bowling Green, and Debra Smith (Bradley) of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren, Laura Lee Lyons Potter of Bowling Green, Mathew Lyons (Andrea) of Marietta, GA, Benjamin Watts (Alex) of Scottsville, Emilee Moore of Bowling Green, Allison Moore of Bowling Green, A.J. Stahl (Carrie Jo) of Bowling Green, Jennifer Sadler of Bowling Green, and Grant Smith of Bowling Green; eight great-grandchildren, Canton Watts, Carter Watts, Corbyn Watts, Gaige Potter, Cierra Potter, Jacob Lyons, Jordan Lyons, and Grace Sadler; a sister, Jonell Price (John L.) of Franklin; a brother, Morton Stahl (Margaret) of Rockfield; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow at Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, April 4, 2015 from 4-8 pm, and Sunday from 1:00 pm to service time at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.

Wanda Scruggs
(February 21, 1942 - June 6, 2016)

Wanda Scruggs, 74, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. The Bowling Green native was born February 21, 1942 to the late Vernon Manley and Opal Moats Manley. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Scruggs; two sons, Dennis Scruggs and Scotty Scruggs; one brother, Leroy Manley; two sisters, Ruby Manley and Dean Howard.

Mrs. Scruggs was a member of Mission of Life Church. She loved her church family, and was very active in outreach programs. She was a graduate of Bowling Green High School. Mrs. Scruggs retired from Eaton Corporation. She was proud that she and her family were very close. Mrs. Scruggs enjoyed hosting and supporting all family events.

She is survived by her children, two sons, Monty Scruggs (Debbie), Jason Scruggs (fiancé, Rebecca Tice); one daughter, Joy Cardwell (Scott); one brother, Elvin Manley; one sister, Sue Houchins; two grandchildren, Derek and Ryan Cardwell; three great grandchildren, Ky’Mani, Samayia, and Andrew Cardwell, she was, also, Me-Maw to Jamie, Jimmy, Haley, Katie, William, Ansley, Carson and Audrey; special niece, Kathy Adams; several nephews, great nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 Thursday, at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Bethel cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday, at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home and again from 9:00 am – 11:00 am Thursday, at the funeral home.

Elvira Solla "Ellie" McDonough
(October 1, 1919 - May 8, 2016)

McDonough, Elvira Solla, “Ellie”, 96, went home to be with the Lord on May 8, 2016. She was the daughter born to Ralph and Minnie Solla of New Jersey. Ellie was very proud of her Italian heritage, her family and all the friends she met and kept along the way. She was a wonderful wife; mother, grandmother and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Elvira was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Charles E. McDonough and her brothers Frank and Edward Solla.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Jacqueline (McDonough) Casto and her husband Harry; her 3 children, Melissa Montgomery and her husband Michael of Bowling Green, Russell McDonough and his wife Ramona of Atlanta, Martin McDonough and his wife Barbara of Tampa; 8 grandchildren as well as 8 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins.

There will be viewing followed by prayer service on Thursday, May 12, 2016 beginning at 5:00pm at the Johnson – Vaughn - Phelps Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Saint Joseph’s cemetery following the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the St. Vincent de Paul or St. Jude Hospital for Children.

Wilma Doris Massie, 74, of 1324 Venable Ave., Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native was a member of First General Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis Massie; a daughter, Lisa D. Massie of Owensboro; and a sister, Clarice Elliott of Owensboro.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First General Baptist Church Building Fund, 620 Maple Ave., Owensboro KY 42301.

Dillard Adam Coffey
(April 5, 1980 - April 15, 2016)

Dillard Adam Coffey, 36, of Bowling Green passed away April 15, 2016 at The Medical Center.

The Warren County native was the son of Dillard Kemp Coffey and the late Sheila Lush Coffey.

Mr. Coffey is survived by his father; Dillard Coffey, longtime girlfriend; Madison Steff; a brother, Keith Austin Coffey (Lindsey), and a nephew Easton Coffey

No services are planned.

Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
