PADUCAH -- Nettie Sweeney Rhodes of Paducah, formerly of Owensboro, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at her home. The Roanoke, Va., native was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Owensboro and member of First Presbyterian Church in Paducah.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Allan Rhodes; two sons, Allan Rhodes Jr. of Paducah and Robert Todd Rhodes of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren; and a niece.

Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Owensboro. Committal services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Memorial services will also be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Paducah. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First Presbyterian Church, 1328 Griffith Ave., Owensboro, KY 42301 or First Presbyterian Church, 200 N. Seventh St., Paducah, KY 42001.

Helen Hasenmeyer

NEWTONVILLE, Ind. -- Helen Hasenmeyer, 85, of Newtonville died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Deaconess St. Joseph's Hospital in Huntingburg, Ind. The Grandview, Ind., native was a certified nurse's assistant and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Newtonville and Gideon International Bible Society. Her husband, Paul Hasenmeyer, died in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Kramer of Newtonville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope Baptist Church in Newtonville. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist cemetery in Newtonville. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind., and after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to New Hope Baptist Church or Gideon International Bible Society.

Janada Gay Troutman Ryan

WALTON -- Janada Gay Troutman Ryan, 75, of Walton, formerly of Calhoun, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at her home. The McLean County native was a homemaker and member of All Saints Catholic Church. She was a member of Grandmother's Club, Altar Society and a former Parish Council member. Her husband, Dick Ryan, died in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Marty Ryan of Walton; two daughters, Pam Rettig of Erlanger and Danette Doggett of Edgewood; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Lois Johnson and Dorothy Johnson, both of Calhoun.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church in Walton. Interment will be in St. Patrick's cemetery in Verona. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to All Saints Catholic Church Building Fund, 46 Needmore St., Walton, KY 41094.

Elizabeth Stanley Taylor

HENDERSON -- Elizabeth Stanley Taylor, 88, of Henderson died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at her daughter's home. The Henderson native worked at Bohn's for more than 20 years and was a member of Presbyterian Church of Henderson and Fidelis Circle. Her husband, Homer Taylor Sr., died in 1972.

Survivors include a son, Homer Taylor Jr. of Owensboro; daughter, Peggy Williams of Henderson; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Gayle Stanley of Henderson.

Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home in Henderson. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and until 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Presbyterian Church of Henderson Fidelis Circle or St. Anthony's Hospice.

Martha H. 'Marty' Kirkner
16 October 2001

Martha H. "Marty" Kirkner, 62, of 1651 W. 4th St., Owensboro, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Carrollton County Memorial Hospital. The Ohio County native was a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Sabrina Henry of Carrollton and Lisa Stewart of Bowling Green; four grandchildren; a brother, Jack Henry of Hartford; and a sister, Jenna H. Smith of Hartford.

Memorial services are pending. The body was cremated. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.

Flora Amanda Henry McCaslin
6 October 2001

HAWESVILLE -- Flora Amanda Henry McCaslin, 72, of Hawesville died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Heartland Villa in Lewisport. The Owensboro native was a member of Crabtree Avenue Baptist Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, flowers, eating out and shopping.

Survivors include four sons, Jack McCaslin and Roger McCaslin, both of Lewisport, and Mike McCaslin and Sterling McCaslin, both of Hawesville; two daughters, Karen Fleming and Dianne Estes, both of Hawesville; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five brothers, William Henry and John Henry, both of Ft. Worth. Texas, and Hewitt Henry, Robert Henry and James Henry, all of Owensboro; three sisters, Bonnie Walker of Ft. Worth, and Patty Henry and Nancy Henry, both of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Union Baptist Church near Hawesville, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today and until 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Union Baptist Church Improvement Fund.

Herman C. Moseley
8 October 2001

Herman C. Moseley, 67, of 1867 Airport Road, Owensboro, died there Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001. The Ohio County native retired from Kentucky State Highway Department as Daviess County foreman. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and an Army Reserve veteran for 14 years.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Lucille Shultz Moseley; two daughters, Cynthia Harbin of Prospect and Deborah Garrett of Hawesville; three grandchildren; four brothers, James Cecil Moseley and Arthur Moseley, both of Evansville, Richard Moseley of Crete, Ill., and Kenneth Moseley of Steiger, Ill.; and four sisters, Mary Lindsey of Beaver Dam, Gracie Hall and Gladys Lyons, both of Owensboro, and Ruby Fulton of Paducah.

Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Richland Baptist Church cemetery in McLean County. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Riverside Baptist Church Building Fund, 3703 U.S. 60 East, Owensboro, KY 42303 or Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Harry L. Gebhard

EVANSVILLE -- Harry L. Gebhard, 80, of Evansville, formerly of Rockport, Ind., died Oct. 15, 2001, at Good Samaritan Home in Evansville. The Rockport native was an ARC welder at Servel Arkla for 25 years and retired from Pre-Way after 10 years. He was a member of Lessing Masonic Lodge No. 464, Scottish Rite, Hadi Shrine and Veterans of Foreign Wars 2953. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred M. Gebhard, in 1995; and a son, Michael Gebhard, in 2000.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jo Ingalla of San Diego; and three grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will be in Grandview (Ind.) cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post 254. Masonic services are at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Eldred Lloyd Pyott

CENTRAL CITY -- Eldred Lloyd Pyott, 84, of Central City died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Greenville. The Harriman, Tenn., native retired as an electrician from Tennessee Valley Authority and was a member of Nelson Creek Pentecostal Church. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie Sumner Pyott; a daughter, Patricia Waddell of Central City; two stepsons, David Loney and Eugene Loney, both of Central City; two stepdaughters, Karen June Brandon and Janice Harper, both of Central City; four grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Fred Pyott of Evansville; and four sisters, Jennie Thomas and Margaret Day, both of Evansville, Inell Test of Knoxville, Tenn., and Daisy Laythrum of California.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery in Dawson Springs. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary Alice Atwell
6 October 2001

Mary Alice Atwell, 78, of 1312 W. First St., Owensboro, died there Friday, Oct. 5, 2001. The Owensboro native was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church in Lewisport. Her husband, Floyd Atwell, died in 1972.

Survivors include a stepson, Dudley Atwell of Lewisport; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Dukes of Owensboro; several stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Henry E. Smith of Owensboro and John H. Smith of Kinnett, Mo.; and three sisters, Eleanor Mattingly and Hazel Vetter, both of Owensboro, and Edith Havener of Lewisport.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Fordsville cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association.

Sister Mary Janette Bowling
9 October 2001

MAPLE MOUNT -- Sister Mary Janette Bowling, 83, of Maple Mount died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Mount St. Joseph Motherhouse. The New Haven native taught at St. Mary Magdalene School in Sorgho and was principal of St. Pius X School in Owensboro. She was director of religious education at Fort Knox from 1968 to 1984 and conducted teacher training workshops at military posts in the United States and Germany.

Survivors include four brothers, the Rev. Robert A. Bowling of Reno, Nev., the Rev. George Bowling of Louisville and Martin J. Bowling and William P. Bowling, both of New Haven; and two sisters, Marietta Bowling Blandford and Mary Louise Bowling, both of Louisville.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mount St. Joseph Chapel in Maple Mount. Burial will be in the convent cemetery in Maple Mount. Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at the chapel. Wake services are at 6:30 p.m. today at the chapel. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Ministries of Ursuline Sisters of Mount St. Joseph.

Zella Ruth Shown

HARTFORD -- Zella Ruth Shown, 86, of Plattsmouth, Neb., formerly of Hartford, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at NHS Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Neb. The Dawson Springs native retired in 1961 as a licensed practical nurse and was a member of Portway Baptist Church in Brownsville, Texas, and had been a member of Rebecca's Lodge in Plattsmouth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Thomas Shown Sr.; and two sons, Cecil Thomas Shown Jr. and Dennis Reyburn Shown.

Survivors include three sons, Edward Randall Shown of Richmond, Va., James Leonard Shown of Union, Neb., and Joseph Robinson Shown of Stapleton, Neb., three daughters, Dortha Sue Zieman of West Palm Beach, Fla., Zella Marvidene Warwick of Urbandale, Iowa, and Anne Rhea Shown of Brownsville; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will be in Carson cemetery near Hartford. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
