HARTFORD - Mrs. Bonedith Keown Carter, 80, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at her home. She was born in Ohio County, the daughter of Herman and Minnie Swift Keown. She was a member of Mount Olive General Baptist Church and was retired from Ohio County Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ivan B. Carter, in 1969, and Raymond Filback, in 1991; a grandson; a great-grandson; and a stepgreat-great-granddaughter.

She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Ijean) Whitely of Horse Branch, Mrs. Earl (Garnet) Beasley and Mrs. William (Sharon Elaine) Burton, both of Beaver Dam, Mrs. Carroll (Rebecca Sue) Carter, Mrs. Jerry (Frances) Scoggins and Mrs. Randy (Judy) Trogden, all of Hartford; a son, Glendell Carter of Beaver Dam; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elsie Stewart of Horse Branch; a brother, Franklin Keown of Owensboro; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Steve (Regina) Geary of Beaver Dam; a stepson, Ricky Filback of Dundee; six stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will follow in Leach cemetery near Horse Branch. Friends may visit at the funeral home today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Roxanna 'Rocky' Hawley

Roxanna "Rocky" Hawley, 49, of 5965 Highway 60 East, Owensboro, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004. The Daviess County native was a mechanic for G&A Trucking for 10 years and a former employee of Ragu for 22 years. She was known for her artistic drawings and paintings. She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Mae Sadler, in 1998.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Jenny Hawley of Calhoun; a daughter and son-in-law, Rena and Jeff Hamilton of Lewisport; two grandchildren, Taylor and Zachary Hamilton, both of Lewisport; her father, Joe Sadler of Lewisport; and a sister, Paula Sue Gray of Hawesville.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, at 11:30 a.m. at Glenn Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday. Interment will be private. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Roxanna Hawley Memorial Fund, 2601 Hatfield-Stevens Road, Calhoun, KY 42327.

Theodore C. Lewis

LEWISPORT - Theodore C. Lewis, 82, of Lewisport died Friday, July 9, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was a retired truck driver and an Army veteran of World War II.

Graveside services: 11 a.m. Monday at Lewisport cemetery with military honors. Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport is in charge of arrangements.

Regina F. Kiper

HARDINSBURG - Regina F. Kiper, 64, of Harned died Monday, July 5, 2004, at Norton Hospital.

Survivors include two brothers, Claude and Donnie Kiper; and three sisters, Dorothy Rold, Susie Koetter and Nancy Jolly.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial: Kingswood cemetery. Visitation: From 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 8:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions: Kingswood Wesleyan Church.

Wayne Gordon

Wayne Gordon, 91, of 736 Cottage Drive, Owensboro, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Gordon was born in Owensboro on Aug. 3, 1912, a son of the late Forest K. and Minnie B. Lynch. He attended the University of Louisville College of Pharmacy and worked at the former Gordon's Drug Store at the corner of Third and St. Ann streets. His career also included being president of Pre-Cast Concrete Co. and Owensboro Rapid Transit and vice president of Ky-Anna Cold Storage. He retired as president of Davis Distributors in 1995. He served on, and as, chairman of the Owensboro Recreation Commission and was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral. His stepmother, Elizabeth Riddle Gordon, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Helena Baumgarten Gordon; a daughter, Mary Wayne Wedeking and her husband, Ken, of Louisville; a son, Mark Kyler Gordon and his wife, Ruth, of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Amy and her husband, Tim, Beard and Adam and his wife, Marlow, Wedeking, all of Louisville, and Sam Gordon, Mary Jo Gordon and Elizabeth Gordon, all of Owensboro; four great-grandsons, Ryan Beard, Kyle Beard, Will Wedeking and Harrison Wedeking, all of Louisville; a sister, Kathryn Wilkerson of Owensboro; and two brothers, George Gordon and E.B. Gordon, both of Owensboro.

Services are at noon Saturday at St. Stephen Cathedral, with the Rev. John Vaughan officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Friday. Private ennichment will be in Resurrection cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Vincent DePaul Society or the Daniel Pitino Shelter.

Mary M. 'Marsha' Binion

MACCLENNY, Fla. - Mary M. "Marsha" Binion, 83, of Macclenny, formerly of Owensboro, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at her home after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 10, 1920, to Romey Salmon and Betty Humphrey Salmon in Daviess County and retired from Kay Jewelers as a manager after 38 years. She was a member of The Lords Church in Taylor, Fla., and Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed bingo, UK basketball, CNN, reading and cherbs. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Woodson Binion Jr., in 1948.

Survivors include a son, J. Woodson Binion III and his wife, Donna, of Taylor; five grandchildren, Nick Binion, Mike Binion, Shelly Hayles, Jackie Holloway and Jenel Jackson; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Elmwood cemetery. Visitation is from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. The Rev. J.W. Binion will officiate. The family wishes that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to a favorite charity or The Lords Church in Taylor.

Clyde A. Fulkerson

Mr. Clyde A. Fulkerson, 87, of 1110 Hill Ave., Owensboro, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Feb. 17, 1917, to the late Albert and Flora Wheeler Fulkerson in Daviess County. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church, an Army veteran of World War II, an active member of VFW, FOP, American Legion and AMVETS. He coached and played baseball for many years in Owensboro. He was retired from Glenmore Distillery and enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite, who died June 26, 1993.

Survivors include two brothers, Anthony Fulkerson of Owensboro and Gerald "Jerry" Fulkerson of Bowling Green; a sister, Mary Merrimee of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at Immaculate Catholic Church, with burial in Mater Dolorosa cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home, with prayers being said at 6 p.m. Friday.

Minnie Storms

HARDINSBURG - Minnie Storms, 81, of Hardinsburg died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Breckinridge Health Care in Hardinsburg. She was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church and retired from civil service as a nurse's assistant.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Rita Whitworth; and two sisters, Pauline Jolly and Bea Jolly.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Romuald Catholic Church in Hardinsburg. Burial: St. Romuald cemetery. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Rosary: 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions: St. Romuald School.

Mary Michelle Harris Boyle and Katie Madison Boyle

PLANO, Texas - Mary Michelle Harris Boyle, 28, of 4504 Rising Hill Drive, Plano, and her daughter, Katie Madison Boyle, 16 months old, died Friday, July 2, 2004, in Effingham, Ill., in a car accident. Michelle was born in Atlanta, grew up in Owensboro and moved to Texas, where she attended and graduated from SMU. Michelle is survived by her husband of five years, Michael Boyle; and daughter, Shannon Elizabeth Boyle, 3 1/2 years old, both of Plano. Michelle was an exceptional woman whose selfless dedication to her family was merely a reflection of the determination and strength that carried her throughout her short life. Michelle's energy and love touched all who knew her. Michelle was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Emma Greenwell Hearth, who died in September 2003; and her father, Robert B. Harris Jr., who died in July 1999.

She is survived by her brother, Robert B. Harris III; a sister-in-law, Michelle Harris; a niece, Bailey Harris; her stepfather, Barry Hearth; and stepbrothers, Casey and Russell Hearth, all of Owensboro. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Carl and Molly Greenwell of Owensboro, Norbert and Nancy Greenwell of Gainesville, Fla., Brenda and Mike Harris of Franklin; and cousins, Meghan and Brian Greenwell, Leslie, Ben and Justin Harris. Katie Madison Boyle is survived not only by her father and sister, but by her grandparents, Phillip and Kathy Boyle of Raleigh, N.C., her stepgrandfather, Barry Hearth of Owensboro; and a great-grandmother, Mary Jane Boyle of Lafayette, Ind.

Services are at 2 p.m., July 7, at St. Stephen Cathedral. Visitation is at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Prayers will be at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Father Patrick Reynolds will preside over the services. The family wishes expressions of sympathy to take the form of donations to American Cancer Society, 319 W. 10th St., Owensboro, KY 42301 or Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, 3550 North Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85013. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Mary J. Lane

Mary J. Lane, 65, of 2411 E. Harmons Ferry Road, Utica, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at her residence. She was born Sept. 14, 1938, in Daviess County to the late Robert and Zula Mae Swanagan. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife and mother.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Clarence W. Lane Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Clarence "Skip" W. Lane Jr. and Ida M. Lane of Utica; five daughters, Christine Adams of Owensboro, Dorothy Bard and husband Andre Bard of Antioch, Tenn., Elizabeth L. Lane of Owensboro, Marilyn Lane of Tulsa, Okla., and Mary Helen Lane of Louisville; eight grandchildren, Dante Bard and Lathan Bard, both of Antioch, Marcus Bard and Darrin Baughman, both of Owensboro, Clarence W. Lane III and Nicole Crite, both of Portland, Tenn., Brandon Adams of Frankfort and D.J. Jackson of Owensboro; a great-grandchild, Angel Crite of Portland; four sisters, Francis Johnson, Katie Mae Swanagan, Annetta Barnes and Georgia Anne Swanagan; and a brother, John Robert Swanagan.

Services are at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Charles T. Goldsberry

BEAVER DAM - Charles T. Goldsberry, 65, of Beaver Dam died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at his home. He was a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Gray Goldsberry; two sons, Terry Robinson and Mark Robinson; and five daughters, Edwinna Hall, Letha Harris, Charlena Goldsberry, Sharon Muhammad and Deborah Robinson.

Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday at William L. Danks Funeral Home. Burial is private. Visitation: From 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Billy Gene Schimmell

SPRING HILL, Fla. - Billy Gene Schimmell, 78, died Saturday, July 3, 2004, in Spring Hill. Born to Illinois, he moved to this area in 1983 from Owensboro. He was an aerial photographer for Lloyd's of London and previously a manager for American Tobacco. He was a Navy pilot and instructor during World War II. He enjoyed fishing and photography and was an aircraft enthusiast and Lutheran by faith.

Survivors include his daughter, Cindy Dietrich of Spring Hill; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Turner Funeral Homes, Spring Hill chapel.
