Elizabeth Moore Ray

EVANSVILLE - Elizabeth Moore Ray, 88, of Evansville, formerly of Poplar Grove, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at Community Methodist Hospital in Henderson. Elizabeth Moore Hazelip was born Sept. 27, 1915, in Rumsey to the late Alfred and Alice Hazelip and was later married to Lee Roy Ray. She was a member of Cypress Primitive Baptist Church and also enjoyed cooking and family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Ray, on Aug. 18, 1991; and a son, Robert L. Ray, on Nov. 8, 1995.

Survivors include two sons, William Earl Ray of Allen Park, Mich., and Dan D. Ray of Evansville; two daughters, Wanda J. Coakley of Detroit and Joan C. Carson of Evansville; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alma of Detroit.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel, with Dr. Richard Sams officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Grove cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with the Ray family from 3 to 7 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of services Friday at Musters in Calhoun.

Randall Lee Thomson Jr.

LOUISVILLE - Randall Lee Thomson Jr., six-month-old infant son of Randall Lee and Heather Estes Thomson of Louisville, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at Kosair Children's Hospital from injuries suffered in a house fire.

Other survivors include three brothers, Jonathan Alexander, Austin Matthew and his twin brother, Anthony Joseph; two sisters, Alyssa Dawn and Morgan Elizabeth; his grandparents, Janice and Cecil "Butch" Thomson of Owensboro, Jonell and Jay Coffey of Louisville and Anthony Estes of Owensboro; his great-grandparents, Lydia Alma Broadley of Owensboro and Vaughn Thomson of Largo, Fla.; several aunts and uncles, Mickey and Brenda Thomson, Lori and Steve Zoglmann, Nancy and Harland Best and Tyler Estes, all of Owensboro; and cousins, Emily, Allison and Tyler Zoglmann, Michael, Mary Jessica, Ryan and Kayla Thomson, Tammy, Hershel, Ryan and Derek Morgan, all of Owensboro.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Babyland in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro, with burial in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 1:45 p.m. Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. A memorial fund has been established at Fifth Third Bank.

Jess G. Woodward, 91, of Philpot died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bowling Green, a former service station operator and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Chandler.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, in Bowling Green. Burial: Fairview cemetery No. 2 in Bowling Green. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions: Owensboro High School Scholarship Fund, 1800 Frederica St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Raymond Joseph Fulkerson

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Raymond Joseph Fulkerson of Knoxville, a native of Owensboro, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at St. Marys Hospital. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he served as chair of the parish council administration committee. He retired as general manager for Sherwood Memorial Gardens. He was a member of the Pre-Internment Association of America and National cemetery Association and served for many years on the board of directors for cemetery Association of Tennessee. He was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Eleanora Fulkerson; and a son-in-law, Bruce Allender.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Armstrong Fulkerson of Knoxville; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Gwen Fulkerson of Corydon; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Lamar Wilson and Mary Faye Allender, all of Knoxville, and Angela and John Hayes of Gallatin, Tenn.; two brothers, Preston and Thomas Fulkerson, both of Owensboro; a sister, Mary Stallings of Henderson; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. James A. Haley, Csp., officiating, with entombment following at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Scott Fulkerson, Ray Fulkerson, Matt Fulkerson, John Wilson, John Hayes IV, Philip Hayes and Joey Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be George Willard, George Pierce, Dennis Lindquist and the Rev. Walter Willis. The family requests memorials be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 W. Vine Ave., Knoxville, TN 37902 or Magnolia Avenue United Methodist Church, 2700 East Magnolia Ave., Knoxville, TN 37914. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. at Rose Mortuary, Broadway Chapel, in Knoxville.

Grace Aull Gillim

Grace Aull Gillim, 73, of 1205 Leitchfield Road, Owensboro, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born Aug. 3, 1931, in Owensboro to the late Jerome and Artie (Ezell) Woods. She retired from American Olean Tile Co. and was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. She was active in March of Dimes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gillim.

Survivors include the father of her children, Roy Vincent "Pete" Aull of Owensboro; two daughters, Judy (Richard) Brown and Belinda (Ronald L.) Blair, both of Owensboro; four sons, Gregory Wayne Aull, Robert "Bobby" Aull, Dennis R. Aull and Thomas L. Aull, all of Owensboro; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Foundation for Health, attention Cancer Center, P.O. Box 22505, Owensboro, KY 42304-2505.

Mary Hope Gregory

CLEATON - Mary Hope Gregory, 81, of 31 Ford Ave., Cleaton, died at 7:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at her residence. She was born Feb. 24, 1923, and was a member of Union Ridge General Baptist Church. She retired from EKCO Houseware in Chicago and was Muhlenberg County Pennyrile Allied Service for Senior Citizens (PACS) board member and volunteer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee Hope, in 1987; a daughter, Wanda Lee Hope; and a second husband, Harold Gregory, in 2000.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Wayne Hope of Bremen and Gerold Dean Hope of Greenville; three daughters, Betty Sue Jones of Bremen, Jennie Carol Jenkins of Drakesboro and Sandra Gail Aders of Enmuclam, Wash.; a special cousin, Susan Hughes Yonts of Evansville; a special friend, Tom Lewis of Greenville; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 1 p.m. today, Sept. 1, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Leamon Mefford officiating. Burial will be in Union Ridge cemetery in Belton.

Mary Kingkade Reed

Mary Kingkade Reed died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Muhlenberg County on June 24, 1913, Mrs. Reed was the daughter of the late William and Nora McCarthy Kingkade. She was a member of Breckenridge Street United Methodist Church and was retired from General Electric, where she worked for more than 35 years. She was a member of the Wesley Daughters Sunday school class and enjoyed her retirement and spending time with her family. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Reed, in 1966; and a daughter, Jean Reed Anderson, in 1987.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Reed Ezell and Paul Ezell of Hawesville; 10 grandchildren, Gloria Shepherd of Owensboro, Mike Anderson of Springfield, Ill., Debbie Anderson of Lexington, Jim Anderson of Gentryville, Ind., Marilyn Cone of Loveland, Ohio, Josh Hall of Columbia, S.C., Ricky Hall of Owensboro, Jeana Draper of Woodburn, Max Ezell of Utica and Gracie Payne of Owensboro; 21 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Kingkade of Owensboro and Robert Kincaid of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Glenn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Thursday.

Flora Lou Jennings Young

Flora Lou Jennings Young, 52, of Owensboro died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at her home. She was a cook at a retirement home and a member of Cloverport Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Trena Jennings and Mistey Ledlow; her mother, Reba Jennings; and three brothers, Donnie Jennings, Larry Jennings and Duane Jennings.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Wallace Funeral Home in Cloverport. Burial: Ivy Hill cemetery in Hardinsburg. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Anna Belle Howard Bowlds

Anna Belle Howard Bowlds, 92, of 10864 U.S. 231, Utica, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at her home. She was born June 27, 1912, in Daviess County, to the late Michael Martin Howard and Maggie Lee (Higgs) Howard. She retired from the Daviess County Board of Education as a custodian. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo V. Bowlds, on Jan. 28, 2000; by a son, Martin Cecil Bowlds, in 1992; and by a brother, James W. Howard, on July 6, 2004.

Survivors include four sons, Virgil Bowlds of Owensboro and Rodney Bowlds, James Bowlds and Billy Bowlds, all of Pleasant Ridge; two daughters, Shirley Vanover of Calhoun and Carolyn Dickens of Beech Grove; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Christine Walker of Boonville, Ind.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Nickel Ridge cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. BELTON - Mary Catherine King, 87, of Belton died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was a homemaker and member of Hortons Chapel Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Jerry King; and two daughters, Jonell Mallay and Joyce Parrish.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Burial: Hortons Chapel cemetery in Belton. Visitation: After 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

M. Lorene (Stallings) Smith

Mrs. M. Lorene (Stallings) Smith, 77, of 265B Raintree Drive died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born April 22, 1927, in Daviess County to William Allen and Zola Knox and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping, word puzzles and TV. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Smith, who died in 2002.

Survivors include three sons, Joey Stallings Jr. of Lewisport, Brother Randy Stallings of Owensboro and David Stallings of Fruitland, Idaho; three daughters, Linda McMahan of Owensboro, Maria Majors of Louisville and Judi Whitney of Owensboro; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home chapel. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. Brother Randy Stallings and Brother Del Rouse will officiate.
