Cecil Williams Barnard

HARTFORD - Cecil Williams Barnard, 89, passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, at Dogwood Retreat in Hartford. He was born the son of the late Cecil and Mary Williams Barnard in Beaver Dam on March 24, 1916. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and was baptized in 1936. Mr. Barnard graduated from Beaver Dam High School and worked for Standard Oil Co., Evansville Shipyard and Burlington Railroad. He drove for Kato Film Co. and, with his wife, Pansy, owned and operated the Hartford City Cafe. Mr. Barnard served for 25 years as deputy Ohio County court clerk and was Ohio County court clerk for six years until his retirement. He also operated the Barnard family farm on Highway 62 near Beaver Dam and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was an avid Indianapolis 500 fan and attended 54 consecutive races. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Mary Williams Barnard; his wife of 42 years, Pansy Rhea Barnard; a sister, Mary Ranney; and a son, Roger Williams Barnard.

Survivors include three sons, Freddie L. (Shirley) Barnard of Lafayette, Ind., Randie G. (Jan) Barnard of Maumee, Ohio, and Clayton (Viva) Tinsley of Hopkinsville; a daughter, Carol Ann (Terry) Walker of Calhoun; 11 grandchildren, Jared, Mathew and Veronica Barnard of Lafayette, Ashley and Molly Barnard of Maumee, Mary Guinn Rock of Beaver Dam, Lea Carol Belt of Paducah, Janet Carnes of Hopkinsville, Pam Hamilton of Hartford City, Ind., Rita Baker of Belmont, Miss., and Tim Tinsley of Hopkinsville; 11 great-grandchildren; a niece, Mary Pat Donlon of Hartford; and a nephew, William B. Ranney of Louisville.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with the Rev. Glenn Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruby Olala Bowman

Ruby Olala Bowman, 80, of 2420 West 3rd St., Owensboro, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, at Bon Harbor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. She was born on Sept. 4, 1924, in Daviess County to the late Joseph and Mary (Sparks) Vowels. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest C. Bowman.

Survivors include a son, Keith Bowman and wife, Lillian, of Owensboro; two daughters, Scarlett Bowman Smith and Sheila Bowman, both of Owensboro; eight grandchildren, Bryson Bowman, Brooke Bowman, Kristen Smith, Raymond Smith, Megan Smith, Misty Mullen, Adrienne Payne and Stephanie Payne; five great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Barbara Fulkerson of Panther, Louise Mann and Juanita McAulff, both of Owensboro, Mavis Young of Arizona and Toodle Velotta of Washington.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel. Burial is in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where prayers will be said at 5 p.m. today.

Gilbert 'Buck' Parker

RICHLAND, Ind. - Gilbert "Buck" Parker of Richland passed away on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at Newburgh Health Care in Newburgh, Ind. Gilbert was born in Richland on Dec. 30, 1911, to the late Claude and Anna (Scamahorn) Parker. He was a retired farmer and member of Richland United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Marguerite Parker.

Survivors are three daughters, Jodie Turner and husband, Hal, of Newburgh, Carolyn Small and husband, Bill, of Richland and Debbie Thienes of Newburgh; four grandchildren, Darren Turner, Dawn Slow and Kent and David Small; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Rev. Joe Mack Miller officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery in Boonville, Ind. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to you favorite charity.

Alma Lee Riggs
08/30/2005

Alma Lee Riggs, 67, of Pleasant Ridge died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at her home. Born in Pleasant Ridge on Sept. 11, 1937, Ms. Riggs was retired from Ohio County schools and was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She taught for more than 29 years, first in eastern Kentucky and then in Ohio County at Horse Branch, Pleasant Ridge and Wayland Alexander elementary schools. She was very active in her church and served as Sunday school teacher and Bible school teacher for many years. Ms. Riggs was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Lee and Lillie Smith Riggs.

She is survived by several cousins.

Funeral services are at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Mount Carmel Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Manuel L. Brown

BEAVER DAM - Manuel L. Brown, 67, of Beaver Dam died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at his home. He was born in Owensboro to Manuel E. and Clara Lee Case Brown. He retired from Peabody Coal Co. as a coal miner and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Camp Brown; two sons, Mark and wife, Kathy Brown, of Philpot and Robbie and wife, Kelly Brown, of Crestview, Fla.; a daughter, Julie and husband, Michael York, of Greeneville, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Morgan Brown, Austin Yuzzie, Sarah Clay Thomas, Nicole Brown, Marc Tyler Lee Brown, Matthew York, Joshua York, Jacob York, Hope York and Seth York.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with the Rev. Glenn Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Ohio County. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Louella Wells Cassels

EVANSVILLE - Louella Wells Cassels, 83, of Evansville, formerly of Greenville, graduated to Heaven on Aug. 27, 2005, from the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was born to Claud and Bertha Lovell on June 2, 1922. She was a member of Boeke Road Baptist Church in Evansville and was retired from Southern States Cooperative in Greenville. Louella taught Sunday school and was the church pianist for many years at Carter Creek Baptist Church outside of Greenville, where she and her family made their home. Louella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 32 years, Charlie Wells, in 1975; by husband, Claude Cassels, in 1994; her daughter, Joyce Lee Wells, in 2001; a brother, Alton Lovell; and two nephews.

Louella is survived by her daughter, Sandra Russ and her husband, Gayle E. Russ; three grandchildren, Edward Lee Russ and wife, Debbie, Timothy Micah Russ and wife, Marty, and Shannon Faye Knox and husband, Jesse; great-grandchildren, Stephen Russ, Adam Russ, David Russ, Bobbie Libbey and husband, Ryan, Andrew Russ, Jared Russ, Leah Knox, Benjamin Knox, and triplets Anna Knox, Abigail Knox and Daniel Knox; a sister, Dathna Fleming and husband, Shellie; and a nephew, Jerry Fleming and wife, Elsie.

The funeral service will be conducted by her two grandsons, Pastor Edward Russ and Pastor Timothy Russ, with participation by Jesse Knox and the great-grandsons. Services will be at Boeke Road Baptist Church on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m., with visitation before the service beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill cemetery outside of Greenville, with a viewing and service at 1:30 p.m. inside the church at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Boeke Road Baptist Church Building Fund. Condolences may be made online at https://www.mem.com. Lora Revlett

SEMIWAY - Lora Revlett, 93, of Semiway died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, at Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun. Lora Conrad Revlett was born Dec. 31, 1911, in the Knobbs area of McLean County to the late Tell and Betty Burdett Conrad. Mrs. Revlett was a homemaker and attended the Calhoun United Methodist Church. She greatly enjoyed and tried to never miss a McLean County Seniors Citizens dance. Mrs. Lora Revlett was preceded in death by her first husband, Stanley Revlett; her second husband, Olan Revlett; and a son, A.B. "Sam" Revlett.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Hershel and Martine Revlett of Island; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Revlett of Calhoun; seven grandchildren, Constance Revlett, Sherri Revlett Ahaus, Scott Revlett, Sam Revlett, John Revlett, Belinda Hill and Rodney Revlett; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel, with the Rev. Ken Berggren and the Rev. Nathan Baize officiating. Burial will be in New Cypress cemetery. Friends may visit with the Revlett family from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Musters in Calhoun.

Robert I. Roos

DALE, Ind. - Robert I. Roos, 68, of Dale died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at his home. He retired from Spencer Industries after 19 years as a plant manager and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Roos; a son, Pat Roos; a brother, Charlie Roos; and a sister, Phyllis Schaaf.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale. Burial: Church cemetery. Visitation: From 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory in Dale. Rosary: 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Prayers: 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joe C. Stinnett

Joe C. Stinnett, 76, of 2801 Daviess St., Owensboro, passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005. He was born on Nov. 26, 1928, in Hancock County to the late Virgil and Myrtle Winkler Stinnett. He was a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. He retired from Bacon's Department Store. Joe was a life member of American Motorcycle Association and a former member of the Owensboro Citizens Band Radio Club. He dearly loved his Lord, his natural family, his church family, friends and Cricket. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bobby, Virgil Jr., Homer and Rex Stinnett.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Harley Stinnett; a son, Bobby and his wife, Mary Donna Stinnett, of Owensboro; a daughter, Sandy Stinnett Boone and her husband, Billy, of Owensboro; seven grandchildren, Dale Means (Raina), Danny Joe Finley, Craig Finley, Jason Stinnett (Brandy) and Angie Stinnett, all of Owensboro, Duane Lindquist of Minnesota and Billy Boone (Johanna) of Louisville; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Stinnett and Shirley Hayden, both of Owensboro; and two brothers, Retus Stinnett of Owensboro and Billy Stinnett (Cathy) of Calhoun.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at James H. Davis Funeral Home. Burial is in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests that donations be made to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Alisa Ann Frasure Vollman

Alisa Ann Frasure Vollman, 43, of Owensboro died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Owensboro on Dec. 31, 1961, Mrs. Vollman was a homemaker and member of the Parrish Avenue Baptist Church. She was a cheerleader all through school in Owensboro. She loved dogs, watching John Wayne movies and flower gardening. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph H. Frasure; and a brother, Frankie Joe Frasure.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Barry Vollman; a son, Joseph Vollman of Owensboro; a daughter, Carrie Hurlburt of Owensboro; her mother and stepfather, Vanetta and T.R. Hicks of Owensboro; her mother and father-in-law, Louise and Jim Stringer of Owensboro; and two brothers, Johnny Wayne Frasure of Centertown and David Glenn Frasure of Owensboro.

Services are at noon Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society.

Martha Snyder

CHRISNEY, Ind. - Martha Snyder, 74, of Chrisney was taken home by Jesus on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005. She passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center after a short battle with leukemia. She was an example in both life and death of how to live as a faithful servant of God.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her greatest loves were her family and her faith which she lived fully both in word and action. Martha had a gift for loving and connecting with children. She touched many young lives in her years as a teacher.

Martha was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church and was involved in many church activities including the choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband and faithful partner in life, Edward Snyder. Other members of her family that preceded her in death include parents, William and Mary Ella Reisz; brothers, Anthony Reisz, Martin Reisz, Greg Reisz and Delbert Reisz; and a sister, Joan Reisz.

Martha is survived by her four children, Kathy Norman of Dunedin, Fla., Patty Stobaugh of Evansville, Jim Snyder of Chrisney and Chris Gonzalez of St. Louis; sons-in-law, Jim Norman and Micah Stobaugh; and a daughter-in-law, Litha Snyder. She will also be missed by her eight grandchildren who brought much joy and love to her life, Kassidy, Jake, Nick and Jami Snyder, Nathan Stobaugh, Sean and Gabriela Gonzalez and Maria Norman. Martha is also survived by a brother, Father Leonard Reisz of Owensboro; sisters, Margaret Payne of Rockport, Ind., Sister Mary Reisz of Nazareth and Nancy Harpenau of Tell City, Ind.; sisters-in-law, Lillian Reisz of Rockport, Louise Reisz of Owensboro and Elaine Reisz of Tell City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, at 10 a.m. at St. Martin Catholic Church in Chrisney with Father Attila Frohlich officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin cemetery in Chrisney. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Youngblood Funeral Home in Chrisney and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday. A wake service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. today.
