Allen Quinn

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Allen Quinn, 57, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He had chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

He was president of Allan Quinn Music Inc., and had been the organist at the Walnut Street Baptist Church for many years. He was a well-known musician in the area and had performed in 14 European countries. He was the 1964 official organist representative for the United States at the World Trade Fair in Frankfurt, Germany. He was responsible for some of the largest and most prestigious organ installations in the Midwest.

Since 1984, he has been in each “Who’s Who in America” and was listed in the “Dictionary of International Personalities” in 1985 and was awarded the Cambridge Certificate of Merit of his contribution to the international arts. He was a Kentucky Colonel.

He was a member of the board of director of the Mary Kendall Home in Owensboro.

Surviving are his wife, Judy (Adams); three daughters, Celecia Quinn of Seattle, Misti Benefield of Owensboro and Kaci Quinn of Lewisport, Ky.; a son, Chad Benefield of Owensboro; and two grandchildren.

His first wife, Carol, died in 1984.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Kendall Home.

Vivian Pressley

HENDERSON, Ky. — Vivian A. Pressley, 66, formerly of Henderson, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at her home in Owensboro under hospice care.

Surviving are six daughters, Tina Marsh of Fort Bragg, N.C., Margie Sutton and Janet Marie Pressley, both of Owensboro, Thelma Ann Polley of Peoria, Ill., Judith Lynn Riser of Milwaukee, and Charlotte Ann Danby of Lawton, Okla.; six sons, James D. Allen and Richard Pressley, both of Owensboro, Dwayne Pressley of Tooele, Utah, Thomas Pressley of Henderson, and Roy James and David Pressley, both of West Valley, Utah; two sisters, Betty Magera of Kearns, Utah, and Madge Wolf of Magna, Utah; five brothers, Johnny and Herman Drain, both of West Valley, Bill Drain of Magna and Sherman and Lynn Drain, both of Kearns; 27 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence C., in 1982, and by a daughter, Ernestine Allen, in 1972.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Tapp Funeral Home, with burial in Fernwood cemetery, both in Henderson.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Association, Inc. of Daviess and Hancock Counties.

Sue Cates

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Shirley Sue Cates, 44, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Regional Medical Center of cardio-respiratory failure.

She was a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church.

Surviving are her mother, Barbara Gail (Burden) Cates of Madisonville; a brother, Leroy Cates Jr. of Madisonville; her grandmother, Wilda Fireline of Bristol, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Harris Funeral Home, with burial in Zion Brick Church cemetery near Slaughters.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Margaret Duncan

HENDERSON, Ky. — Margaret Duncan, 81, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Bettye Ann Hubbard of Fairfield, Ohio, Phyllis Crafton of Henderson, Janice Cherundolo of Indianapolis and Kathy Sturm of Miami; three sisters, Lula Mae Rhodes and Martha Buckman, both of Henderson, and Mary Ellen French of Morganfield; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Ray, died in 1973.

Services will be at noon Monday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, with burial in St. Louis cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Joseph Luckett

MORGANFIELD, Ky. — Joseph C. Luckett, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at his home.

He was the former president of Union Bank & Trust Co. and was a farmer.

He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his wife, Blanche; a daughter, Mary Jo Steward of Morganfield; a sister, Florence Meech of Boca Raton, Fla.; a grandson, Gregg Steward; and two great-granddaughters.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ann Catholic Church, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at Whitsell Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann’s Building Fund or to St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Alpha Whitney

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Alpha Marie Whitney, 97, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.

She was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle.

Surviving are two daughters, Martine Wilkerson and Judy Sinclair, both of Owensboro; two sons, Donald of Evansville and Kenneth of Owensboro; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, in 1948, and by a son, Odell, in 1989.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Thornton Cullen

PRINCETON, Ky. — Thornton Cullen, 73, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

He was a retired commercial fisherman.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Key Largo, Fla., where he served as a deacon for more than 20 years.

He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Providence.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; a daughter, Betty Gregory of Orlando, Fla.; a son, Douglas of Key Largo; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Melton Funeral Home in Providence. Burial is pending.

Friends may call from noon to service time at the funeral home.

Robert Severs

WHITESVILLE, Ky. — Robert Allen Severs, 49, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at his home. Cause of death has yet to be determined by the Daviess County coroner.

He was a disabled Vietnam War Army veteran. While serving in the Army he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Commendation Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Good Conduct Medal and the parachute badge.

He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.

Surviving is a sister, Peggy Seeger of Hendersonville, Colo.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will follow at a later date in Elmwood cemetery.

Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Wilda Faulkner

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Wilda “Deanie” (Buskill) Faulkner, 66, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System of a heart attack.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, James L.; a stepson, Darren Faulkner of Owensboro; four brothers, Lewis Ray Buskill of Drakesboro, Milton H. Buskill of Owensboro, Michael R. Buskill of Philpot and Charles R. Buskill of Elizabethtown; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home, with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Floyd Dunbar

PRINCETON, Ky. — Floyd Dunbar, 90, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at his home of an apparent heart attack.

He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of Bethlehem Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two sons, Floyd Thomas and Charles David, both of Caldwell County; four grandchildren, Paul and Charles Ray Dunbar, Donna Goodchild and Laura Brandon; and seven great-grandchildren.

His wife, Stella Mae (Dillingham), died in 1995.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
