CALHOUN - Lawrence Edward Towery, 49, of Calhoun died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at his home in Guffie. The McLean County native was a member of the Harvest Baptist Temple in Owensboro. He enjoyed fishing, playing Bingo and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Kelly Towery Poynter of Owensboro and Katherine Elizabeth Hayes of Masonville; three grandchildren; his mother, Pearlyn Towery of Calhoun; five brothers, John D. Towery, Roy W. Towery, Jack A. Towery and Terry L. Towery, all of Owensboro, and Douglas M. Towery of Utica; five sisters, Betty J. Keown of Beech Grove, Mary A. Renfrow of Panther, Carolyn S. White and Paula F. Tichenor, both of Owensboro, and Ella J. Dillingham of Calhoun; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 3 p.m. today at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in Calhoun cemetery. Visitation is after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home. Nell Hays Mercer

CENTRAL CITY - Nell Hays Mercer, 93, of 2112 Ford Ave., Owensboro, formerly of Central City, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at her son's home in Owensboro. The Butler County native was a housewife, a member of Owensboro Christian Church and a graduate of Western Kentucky University. Her husband, Raymond F. Mercer, died in 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Ken N. Mercer of Central City and Larry Mercer of Owensboro; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rochester (Ky.) cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Gideon International or First Christian Church in Central City.

BUCK CREEK - Jerry T. Bowlds, 58, of Buck Creek died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native had worked at National Aluminum Corp. in Hawesville and was a Catholic. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Bowlds; five sons, James Bowlds of Livermore, Jeff Bowlds of Inman, S.C., and Eddie Bozarth, Donnie Bozarth and Tony Bozarth, all of Calhoun; a daughter, Vickie Wimsatt of Owensboro; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; his mother, Gertrude Bowlds of Owensboro; two brothers, David Bowlds of Buck Creek and Steve Bowlds of Owensboro; and three sisters, Doris Evans and Judy Curtis, both of Owensboro, and Joyce Alsup of Georgia.
Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Livermore. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mary Alice Atwell, 78, of 1312 W. First St., Owensboro, died there Friday, Oct. 5, 2001. The Owensboro native was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church in Lewisport. Her husband, Floyd Atwell, died in 1972.
Survivors include a stepson, Dudley Atwell of Lewisport; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Dukes of Owensboro; several stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Henry E. Smith of Owensboro and John H. Smith of Kinnett, Mo.; and three sisters, Eleanor Mattingly and Hazel Vetter, both of Owensboro, and Edith Havener of Lewisport.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Fordsville cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association.

BELTON - Edward L. Stone, 76, of Belton died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Ohio County native was a member of Dunmor Baptist Church, was a veteran of World War II and had worked at U.S. Steel in Gary, Ind.
Survivors include his wife, Evalena Wampler Stone; a son, Randall E. Stone of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; and a brother, Thurman Stone of Demott, Ind.
Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dunmor cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Harry Eldridge Jones

Harry Eldridge Jones, 77, of 316 Hale Ave., Apt. 11A, Owensboro, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Evansville native was a painter, a Baptist and enjoyed fishing, camping and repairing lawn mowers. A son, George Thomas Jones Jr., died in 1973.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty Jean Jones; four daughters, Alice Self, Judy Wedding, Barbara Hagan and Martha Foster, all of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services are at noon Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Inurnment will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

James Ervin Craig, 88, of 3824 Riverside Drive, Owensboro, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native was a retired farmer and member of Hall Street Baptist Church. His wife, Martine Winkler Craig, died Feb. 26, 1995.
Survivors include a brother, Felix P. Craig of Auburndale, Fla.; a sister, Hattie Mable Estes of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

AKRON, Ohio - Dorothy G. Pulliam Cartwright Masturzo, 75, of Akron died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001. The Owensboro native was a homemaker, cooked and cared for ailing family members, cooked for many area bingo halls and enjoyed bingo.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Masturzo; a son, Jesse Cartwright; a daughter, Patricia Metcalf; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenny Pulliam, Raymond Pulliam and Tommy Pulliam; and a sister, Ruby Pulliam.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Church in Barberton, Ohio. Interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery in Barberton. Survivors include her husband, Alan Michael Keating; a son, Kyle Michael Keating of Owensboro; a daughter, Andria Keating of Owensboro; her mother, Betty Girten of Central City; maternal grandmother, Louise Lyle of Ellington, Fla.; several uncles and aunts; and several cousins.

HAWESVILLE - Charles Earl McFall, 60, of Hawesville died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at his home. The Hancock County native retired from Tell City (Ind.) Chair after 33 years and was a member of Blackford Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Marlyn Sue Brandle McFall; two sons, William L. McFall and Wesley A. McFall, both of Hawesville; a daughter, Kathy Roach of Whitesville; and six grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville. Burial will be in Memory Gardens in Hawesville. Visitation is after 3 p.m. Wednesday and until 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary Foreman Richards, 65, of Whitesville died Saturday. Oct. 13, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County native retired from Fordsville Nursing Home, was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church in Ohio County and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Harrol Richards; two sons, James Richards of Dundee and Larry Richards, at home; two daughters, Doris Sparks of Owensboro and Carolyn Decker of Dundee; four grandchildren; a brother, David Foreman of Reynolds Station; and a sister, Sadie Norris of Reynolds Station.
Services are at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Burial will be in Cates cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today and after noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Diabetes Association.

Andrea Dawn Stephen, 21, of 3720 Springmeadow Dr., Owensboro, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. The Louisville native was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She was a senior at UK and was on the dean's list. She was a 1998 graduate of Daviess County High School and was in the marching band. Her father, Spencer Edward Stephen, died in 1997.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Karen and Larry Polard of Owensboro; her paternal grandmother, Lorena Stephen of Owensboro; her maternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, John and Emily Newman of Eddyville; her maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Dorothy and William Cates of Owensboro; a stepgrandmother, Shirley Polard of Palmyra, Mo.; a brother, Corey Stephen of Louisville; and a sister, Kristi McCabe of Louisville.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bellevue Baptist Church in Owensboro. Entombment will be in Resurrection cemetery in Philpot.
