Ilah Roselle Blevins
1928-2009

Our beloved Mother Ilah Roselle Wiley Blevins, 81, of Louisa, Ky., went to rest under the altar of our Lord, Sunday, May 31, 2009.Ilah was born March 13, 1928, in Boyd County, Ky., the daughter of the late William Edward and Fannie Belle Dials Wiley. She was also preceded in death by one beloved son, Raymond Blevins; one sister, Inez Wiley Dean and six brothers, Ellis, Thomas, James, Woodrow, Harold Franklin and William Wiley.

She was a faithful member of the Old Sand Gap United Baptist Church for 63 years and helped her husband serve as a deacon since 1963. Mother was blessed to write many wonderful hymns still sung by her old church.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Joel Marvin “Biggin” Blevins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Jim Iams of Muncie, Ind., and Dixie and Bill Galloway of Kenova, W.Va.; four sons and daughters-in-law, William “Frank” and Carolyn Blevins of Louisa, Clayton “Gene” and Karen Blevins of Rush, Ky., Joel M. and Rose Marie Blevins II of Louisa and Freddie Blevins of Louisa; daughter-in-law, Ruby Blevins of Wheelersburg, Ohio; two brothers, Chester Wiley of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Paul Ed Wiley of Russell, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and loved ones.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland with Elders Jeffrey Carroll, Darris Lews, Perry Moore and Denval Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow in Blevins Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Friends may make contributions to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

George Clark
(1924-2009)

George Clark, 84, of Louisa, died Wednesday in J.J. Jordan Geriatric Center in Louisa.

He was born Nov. 18, 1924, in Louisa.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Pinehill cemetery in Louisa.

There will be no visitation.

Young Funeral Home in Louisa is in charge of arrangements.

John Dawson
(1913-2009)

John Richard Dawson, 95, of Fort Gay, died Thursday in J.J. Jordan Geriatric Center in Louisa, Ky.
He was born June 7, 1913, in Fort Gay. He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Ann Roe and Margaret Milam.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Louisa. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery in Napoleon, Ohio.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Young Funeral Home in Louisa.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Ann Roe and Margaret Milam. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Louisa. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery in Napoleon, Ohio.Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Young Funeral Home in Louisa.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Louisa Building Fund.

Roger Dale Perry
1963-2009

Roger Dale Perry, 45, of Yellow Creek Rd., Clifford, Ky. died suddenly on May 26, 2009. Perry was a mechanic at Jackson Brothers of Louisa. Mr. Perry was born August 30, 1963 in Louisa, the son of the late Bobby Lynn Perry and Rosetta Mae McKinney Perry, of Louisa, Ky., who survives. He is also survived by one brother, Robert Lynn (Lequitte) Perry of Louisa. Visitation is Wednesday, May 26, 2009 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Young Funeral Home. Family members will gather at 5:00 pm.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 28 at the Young Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nathan Harless officiating. Burial will follow at the Frazier cemetery, Clifford, Ky. under the direction of Young Funeral Home.

Jacqueline “Ting” Crabtree
1951-2009
Jacqueline “Ting” Crabtree, 58, of Radnor, W.Va., died Monday.
Mrs. Crabtree was born Jan. 23, 1951.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wilson Chapel Church in Fort Gay. Burial will follow at Crabtree cemetery in Miller’s Creek, W.Va.

Friends may call after noon today at the church. Young Funeral Home in Louisa is in charge of arrangements.

John Richard Dawson
(1913-2009)

John Richard Dawson, 95, of Fort Gay, died Thursday in J.J. Jordan Geriatric Center in Louisa, Ky.

He was born June 7, 1913, in Fort Gay.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Ann Roe and Margaret Milam.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Louisa. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery in Napoleon, Ohio.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Young Funeral Home in Louisa.

Cecil Ellis Sands

Cecil Ellis Sands, 90, of Louisa, Ky., went home to be with the Lord, May 22, 2009 at the Dayton VA Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.; He was born in Malta, Ohio on Aug. 5, 1918 to parents Ellis Blaine and Elizabeth (Humphrey) Sands. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Samantha; brothers, Donald (Mildred) Sands, George (Shirley) Sands, and John Sands; his sisters, Eleanor (Sylvie) Massey, Marge (Keith) Hanlin; brother-in-law Bob Carr; and sister-in- law Blanch Sands.

He is survived by his son Marvin (Lynda) Sands; grandson, Derek (Mandie) Sands, great-granddaughter Ella Sands; granddaughte~ Andrea (Chris) Boy; sister, Sarah Carr; and brother, Bob Sands. Cecil was a loving father and dedicated caregiver to his wife Samantha, who was in a nursing home the last 26 years of her life. He was a totally disabled veteran, who was in the 2nd day of the invasion of Normandy in W.W. II. and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Louisa, Ky. Visitation will be Monday, May 25, 2009 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m., at the Young Funeral Home Chapel in Louisa, Ky., with the Rev. Ric Frazier officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund of First Baptist Church of Louisa. Ky.

George Workman
1949-2009

George Workman, 59, of Louisa died May 20, 2009. Workman was the son of Frank T. and Francis Louisa Mintzer Woekman, both deceased. Workman was a factory superintendent at M&G Polgmers. He is survived by his wife Bonita Ann Brown Workman of Louisa. He is also survived by three daughters; Jennifer Hinkle, Louisa, Penny Keeton, Colombus, Ohio, and Martha Petty of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; three sisters Evelyn Temple, N.C, Linda Erdy, New Albany, Ohio, and Pamela Nieberle, N.C.; two brothers, Bill Workman, Logan, Ohio, and Frank Workman, Louisa, and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is 4:00 to 9:00 P.M. Saturday May, 23 (family at 3:00) at Young Funeral Home and funeral services are Sunday, May, 24 at 2:00 at Morgans Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Workman officiating. Burial will follow at Workman cemetery Morgans Creek, Ky.

David V. Preston
David V. Preston, 79, of Ulysses, Ky. passed away May 20,2009 at Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville, Ky. Funeral services will be conducted 11 :00 am Saturday May 23, 2009 at Belles Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will be after 4:00 PM Thursday at Belles Chapel Freewill Baptist Church at Ulysses, Ky.

Gladis Gilliam
(1950-2009)

Gladis Gilliam, 59, of Louisa, died Thursday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.nShe was born Feb. 1, 1950, in Pilgrim.

Her husband, Russell Lee Gillliam, survives.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Young Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Muncy cemetery at Meathouse.Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Johnnie Lee May
1921-2009

Johnnie Lee May, 87, of Webbville, Ky. died May 13, 2009 at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Cherokee, Ky. in 1921 and would have turned 88 in less than a week.Mr.May ’s wife, Beaulah Mae Kimbler May preceded him in death in January 2008. Mr. May was the son of Thomas Jefferson and Etta McGuire May.

May is survived by eight daughters, Elta (Richard) Chapman of Raceland, Ky., Elwanda (Robert) Barton Delaware, Ohio, Barbara (Edward) Cumpton, Wurtland, Ky, Helen (Robert) Keeton, Raceland, Ky, Rebel (Joseph Griffith) Justice of Detroit, Mich., Tenia (George) Henson, Louisa, Ky, Connie Felty, Grayson , Ky, Darlene (John) Johnson, Webbville, Ky.; one son Leon May, Oak Hill , Ohio, ex daughter-in-law: Anna Hill , Portsmouth, Ohio, 29 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 9:00 P.M. Saturday at Young Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, May 17 at 2:00 P.M. at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Osborne and Rev. Leon May presiding. Burial will follow at Yatesville Memorial Gardens, Louisa, Ky. under the direction of Young Funeral Home.

Carolyn Alice Keaton
1949-2009

Carolyn Alice Keaton, 59, of Webbville died Saturday at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa.

She was born July 4, 1949 in Blaine.

Her husband, James Rodney Keaton, survives.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Watterson Church in Irish Creek. Burial will be in Keaton cemetery in Abb Creek.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today at the church.

Young Funeral Home in Louisa is in charge of the arrangements.

Elmer Burchwell
1921-2009

Elmer E. Burchwell, 87, of Blaine, died Wednesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He was born May 17, 1921, in Lawrence County.

His wife, Joy E. Kelley Burchwell, survives.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Skaggstown cemetery at Flat gap.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
