George "Nick" Nickerson Sr., 82 of Hickory, NC passed away Friday, September 7th at the Frye Hospital in Hickory, NC. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Price Nickerson formerly of Oil Springs; 1 son, George Daniel Nickerson Jr of Matthews, NC; 1 daughter, Paula Nickerson Huffman of Matinsville, NC; and 4 grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Price Family cemetery in Oil Springs. Visitation will be Wednesday 4-6 p.m., and Thursday 9 a.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association by contacting the Paintsville Funeral Home 606-789-5125.

Nobel E. Hamilton
Nobel E. Hamilton, age 74 of Flat Gap passed away Wednesday morning at his hime. He is preceded in death by his wife Dottie Woods Hamilton. He leaves behind 2 sons, Larry Hamilton of Columbus, OH, and Nobel "Lisa" Hamilton Jr of Thealka; 4 daughters, Christi "Forest Burke of York, PA, Denise "Robert" Estep of Flat Gap, Patricia "Terry Harris of Flat Gap, and Pamela "Shane" Jarrell of Columbus, OH; 2 brothers, Eulas Hamilton of Ashland, Willis Hamilton of Cleveland, OH; 1 sister, Mary Mandy Wheeler of Ostrander, OH; 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at the Hamilton cemetery in Red Bush. Vistitation will begin on Friday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home.

Lillian Jackson
Lillian Jackson, 66, of Pikeville, formerly of Riceville, died September 17, 2012 in Pikeville. She was born November 1, 1945 at Riceville to the late Everett and Velva Gibson Jackson. She is survived by his 3 Brothers: James & Keith Jackson both of Riceville, Wayne Jackson, Michigan; 3 Sisters: Hilda Jackson & Virginia Sue Naylor, both of Pikeville, Wanda Jackson, Riceville. Funeral Service at Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel, Paintsville on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Edd May officiated. Friends may call Tues. 5 - 9 p.m., Wed. 9 a.m., Paintsville Funeral Home. Burial at The Jackson Family cemetery, Riceville, Kentucky.

Phil Schroeder
Phil Schroeder, 91 of Lexington, formerly of Oil Springs, died Wednesday morning in Lexington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ransdell Schroeder. He is survived by 2 daughters, Diana Griffin & Elaine Bunch; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Sunday 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home with burial in the Litteral cemetery, Oil Springs. Visitation will be Saturday 4-7 p.m. and Sunday 1p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice or the charity of your choice by calling the Paintsville Funeral Home.

Julia "Judy" Tackett
Judy Tackett, age 64 of Staffordsville passed away early Wednesday morning. She is survived by her husband Ben Tackett Sr.; 2 sons: Kevin Tackett and Ben Tackett Jr.; 1 granddaughter, Preslee Tackett; 2 sisters: Janie Fairchild and Janet Salyer; and 5 brothers: John, David, Donald, Ronald and Roger Litteral. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday 11 a.m. at the Little Mud Lick Church of God with burial to follow at the Tackett Family cemetery, Staffordsville. Visitation will be Thursday 6-9 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Little Mud Lick Church of God or the 1st Baptist Church Youth by contacting the Paintsville Funeral Home 606-789-5125.

Mary J. Meade
Mary J. Meade, age 60 of Sitka passed away Tuesday morning at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV. She is survived by her husband, Larry Meade; one daughter, Stacie Pinson; 4 brothers: Larry, Lonnie, Linzie, and Ronnie Lemaster; 4 sisters: Evelyn Kestner, Pauline Meade, Janet George and Karen Caudill; and 2 grandchildren: Kelsey Paige Meade and Bradyn Paul Ousley. Funeral services will be Thursday 1:00 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at the Highlands Memorial cemetery, Staffordsville. Visitation will be Wednesday 1-9 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m at the Paintsville Funeral Home.

Wilma Jean Jenkins
The beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and widow, Wilma Jean Jenkins, died Monday, October 22nd, 2012, at Saint Joseph East Hospital in Lexington. Wilma was born in Paintsville, on April, 2nd 1960. She is survived by her daughter and son, Leslie Hamilton, of Ashland, and Jason Preece, of Lexington; grandchildren, Garrett, Jocelyn, and Breanna; daughter of the deceased Ochal Caudill and the living Loretta Caudill; brothers, the deceased Richard Caudill and the living William Caudill, and sisters, Rebecca and Sharon Caudill and Darlene Beam; and widow of the deceased Harold Preece and Ricky Jenkins. The visitation will be at 9 am on Thursday, October 25th, at the Paintsville Funeral Home. The burial service will be on Thursday, at 2 pm, at Marvin Sparks cemetery.

Peggy Borders Sturgill, 73, of Nippa died October 25, 2012. She was born December 16, 1938 in Johnson County, KY to the late Walter and Louise Fraley Borders. She is survived by 4 Sons: Greg "Camille" Sturgill, Wittensville, Jeff "Debbie" Sturgill, Thealka, Randy "Janie" Sturgill, Rush, KY & Steve "Debbie" Sturgill, West Van Lear; Grandchildren: 2; Step-grandchildren: 2; Special Niece, Misty Powers, East Point. She retired from American Standard after many years of service. Funeral Service at First Church of God, Paintsville, KY, Paintsville on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Rev. She leaves behind two sons: Roy Douglas Picklesimer, and William Joseph Picklesimer; two daughters: Norma Burchett and Linda Collins; 1 sister, Athalene Blanton; 1 sister-in-law Maxine Oliver; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. James Quinton Pinkerton
James Quinton Pinkerton, 89 of Blaine passed away Friday morning. He is survived by his wife Anna Davis Pinkerton; 1 son, James Michael Pinkerton; 2 daughters, Sheila Hughes and Denna Burke; 2 sisters, Marcella Raegan and Betty Spry; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday 1 p.m., in the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Davis cemetery in Blaine. Linda McCarty Stambaugh, 64, wife of Ronald Stambaugh of Russell, KY, died November 15, 2012. She was born August 4, 1948 at Paintsville, KY to the late Ford and Alma Fairchild McCarty. She is survived by 2 Sons: John Castle, Paintsville, KY & Anthony Hensley, Prestonsburg, KY; Brother: Roger "Clara" McCarty, South Point, OH; Grandchildren: 2. She leaves behind 2 sons: Chester Rowland and Lester Rowland; 3 daughters: Denise Hayes, Judy Carter and Brenda Greathouse; 1 brother: Ernie Cantrell; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at the Cold Springs United Baptist Church with burial to follow at the Estep Family cemetery in Fuget. Sheila Salyer, 54 of Flat Gap, passed away Tuesday morning at her home. She is survived by her companion of 15 years, Ronald Dean Fairchild; 4 sisters; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home with burial in the Family cemetery, Flat Gap. Visitation will be at the Paintsville Funeral Home Wednesday 4-9 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m.
