Donald Richard Bertsche, 65, of St. George, Utah, formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Sunday at Dixie Regional Hospital in St. George. He was a retired mechanic and a Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Bertsche; daughters, Donette Jaimeson of Crestline, Calif., Brenda Stewart of Cold Spring, Teri James of Irvine, Calif., and Traci Bertsche of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; sons, Ronald Bertsche of Florence, Bernard Bertsche of Las Vegas and Donnie Bertsche of Page, Ariz.; brothers, William Bertsche of Riverside, Calif., and Richard Bertsche of Hurricane, Utah; a sister, Janice Houser of Florence; and 11 grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Big Bone Baptist Church, Union. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Metcalf Mortuary, St. George, Utah, is handling arrangements.

Meryl Reves Dodson, 76, of Maysville, died at 1:14 p.m. Friday at Clermont Nursing and Convalescent Center in Milford, Ohio. She was a retired nurse's aide for Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville, and the former Hayswood Hospital, Maysville.

Survivors include her husband, Earl T. Dodson of Milford, Ohio; a son, David Dodson of Frankfort; daughters, Myrna Tessitore of Loveland, Ohio, and Beverly Holland of Mount Carmel, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery.

Luther Furrow, 76, of Newport, died Jan. 2 at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.

Thomas M. Garnett, 60, of Independence, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and formerly worked for the Kenton County Golf Course.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Diane Garnett; a son, Damien Garnett of Independence; a daughter, Brittany Garnett of Independence; stepdaughters, Andrea Whittle of Mason, Ohio, and Lee Ann Kaaz of Cincinnati; sisters, Sylvia Jacob of Fort Thomas and Cheryl Garnett of Cincinnati; brothers, Terry Garnett of Burlington, David Garnett of Frankfort and Dennis Garnett of Florence; and four grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Barbara Church, Erlanger. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Entombment will be in St. John Cemetery Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell.

Yvonne F. Goetz, 73, of Cold Spring, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Irvin Peck Goetz, died in 1995.

Survivors include daughters, Debbie Goetz of Alexandria and Patricia McLaren of Wilder; sons, Richard Goetz of Alexandria and Greg Goetz of Cold Spring; a sister, Lucille Ballinger of Savannah, Ga.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Visitation will begin at noon Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Wesley Michael Hicks, 21, of Glencoe, died Thursday at his residence. He was in the Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Shawn Wilson Hicks of Sparta; daughters, Brandi Hicks and Ashley Hicks, both of Sparta; his father and stepmother, Harold Wesley and Rita Hicks of Warsaw; his mother and stepfather, Bonnie Lynn and Carl Kammerer of Glencoe; a sister, Jennifer Nolan of Cummins, Ga.; stepbrothers, Troy Allen Hicks of Warsaw and Carl Kammerer of Cincinnati; a stepsister, Angela Kammerer of Cincinnati; grandparents, Hamon and Ida Lynn of Fort Mitchell, and Jean Hicks of Glencoe; stepgrandmother, Martha Kammerer of Cincinnati; and stepgreat-grandmother, Annie Jones of Owen County.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery.

Ora Hiser, 92, of Walton, died at 5 a.m. Thursday at Georgetown Community Hospital in Georgetown. He was a retired auto mechanic. His wife, Bernice Terry Hiser, died in 1995.

Survivors include daughters, Shirley Fugate of Lexington and Susan Hiser of Fairfax, Va.; a brother, Jerry Hiser of Columbus, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Verona.

Kathryn Holloway, 67, of Silver Grove, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a retired employee for Frisch's Restaurant in Fort Thomas. Her husband, William K. Holloway, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Holloway of Silver Grove; sons, Russell Holloway of Cold Spring and William Holloway of Silver Grove; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery Chapel, Southgate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.

Roy D. Lowe, 78, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Cold Spring, died Wednesday at his residence. He was a retired owner and operator of Lowe Cartage, Cincinnati. He was a member of Elks Lodge, Cold Spring, and Masonic Lodge No. 152, Alexandria.

Survivors include daughters, Sandra Blank and Barbara Grim, both of Highland Heights; sisters, Beulah Kincaid and Agnes Tipton, both of Stanton, and Lillian McIntyre of Gladwin, Mich.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Hershel Maxwell, 52, of Warsaw, died at 4:05 a.m. Friday at Veterans Hospital in Cincinnati. He was a mechanic and truck driver and an Air Force veteran. He was a member of Bramlette Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Eversole of Lawrenceburg; a son, David Maxwell of Independence; his father, Wilson Maxwell of Warsaw; brothers, Wayne Maxwell and Donnie Maxwell, both of Verona; a sister, Katie Biddle of Warsaw; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Paint Lick Cemetery, Warsaw. Sister Lea McGuire O.S.B., 87, of Villa Hills, died Friday at the St. Walburg Monastery Infirmary in Villa Hills. Sister McGuire was a teacher in the Diocese of Covington for 50 years. She entered St. Walburg Monastery in 1928 and made her final profession in 1933. She celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 1990.

Survivors include members of her religious community and many friends.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 5 p.m. Monday at St. Walburg Monastery, Villa Hills. A vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Walburg. Burial will be in St. Walburg Monastery Cemetery, Villa Hills. Memorials are suggested to St. Walburg Monastery Cemetery, 2500 Amsterdam Road, Villa Hills, Ky. 41017. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Jacob 'Jake' K. Rauch, 39, of Covington, died at 5 a.m. Thursday at his residence. He was a salesman for Lucent Technologies. He was a member and deacon at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Covington, and a coach for the Taylor Mill Boosters Club baseball team.

Survivors include his wife, Jeannie Rauch; sons, Nicholas Rauch and Matthew Rauch, both at home; a daughter, Tarah Rauch at home; and half-brothers, Clarence 'Mousie' Wigglesworth and Robert Wigglesworth, both of Covington, and Gary Wigglesworth of Cincinnati.

Services will be at noon Monday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill, and from 11 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church. Sr. Mary Colette Leaders, founded nation's first women's AA center

Sister Mary Colette Leaders, R.G.S., was known as a person with a great affinity for others.

The attribute was perhaps best displayed through an innovative program she began while serving the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in Columbus, Ohio. Sister Mary Colette opened the first Alcoholics Anonymous center for women in the United States.

'She was so kind and so understanding,' said Sister Kevin Schingel, who served with Sister Mary Colette in Columbus.

Sister Mary Colette, 91, of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd Convent in Fort Thomas, died Saturday morning in Pelletier Hall at the convent.

Sister Mary Colette had been the superior at the order's convent and boarding schools in both Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio, Sister Kevin recalled.

'She was just wonderful. She gave unconditional love to people. She always took that extra step to help someone,' said Sister Kevin.

Throughout her many years in the order, Sister Mary Colette served as a social worker, a teacher and a nurse. 'You had to wear many hats in those days,' said Sister Kevin.

Sister Mary Colette was also the supervising nurse at the order's infirmary in Fort Thomas, Sister Kevin said.

Survivors include a sister, Anne C. Donovan of Margate, Fla., and several nephews and nieces.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pelletier Hall. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at Pelletier Hall. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Keith C. Andrus, 86, of Florence, died Thursday at Florence Park Care Center in Florence. He was a retired electrical engineer with Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co. and a former member of Unity Masonic Lodge No. 478 in Ludlow.

Survivors include a son, William Garrison of Edgewood; a brother, Roger J. Andrus of Arizona; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Charles L. Bacher, 61, of Newport, died at 11:35 p.m. Friday at Veterans Administration Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a grocer with Bacher's Market, Newport.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Bacher; daughters, Sherri Manzi of Alexandria, Jane Meyer of New Carlisle, Ohio, Christi Orleck of Stuarts Draft, Va., and Cindy Sponaugle of Cincinnati; sons, Tim Bacher and Jason Bacher, both of Newport; his mother, Naomi Sexton of Fort Thomas; sisters, Beverly Stephens of Fort Thomas and Janice Sanders of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Robert Bacher of Fort Thomas; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.

River John D. Hatfield, 48, of Park Hills, died Thursday at his mother's home in Park Hills. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and attended Community Pentecostal Church of God, Independence.

Survivors include a daughter, Sara Marie Hatfield of Alexandria; his mother, Jean Greenfield of Park Hills; a sister, Tami Farris of Florence; and a brother, Tom Baker of Fort Mitchell.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at Community Pentecostal Church of God. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Entombment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
