THOMAS MEAUX

Thomas Clarence Meaux, 74, of the Harrodsburg Health Care Center, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born June 6, 1932 in Louisville, he was the son of the late Thomas Cooley and Martha Lee Barkley Meaux.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, a retired farmer and a member of the St. Peter AME Church.

Survivors include: one sister, Thelma Pope of Louisville; two nephews, Michael Pope of Louisville and James Lay of Champagne, IL; three nieces, Sharon Sanders, Andrea Miller and Venetia Fletcher, all of Louisville, and one aunt, Elizabeth Jackson of Louisville.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Devon and Revell Meaux.

Graveside services were held Sunday, Dec. 31 in Maple Grove Cemetery with Bro. Ralph Smith officiating.

The Parks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM ROUSEY

William Stanton Rousey, Jr., 61, husband of Donna Stafford Rousey, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006.

Born in Danville, he was the son of William Stanton Rousey of Stanford, and the late Lucy Mullins Rousey.

He was a design engineer for Lexmark/IBM and a twenty-eight year elder of Gardenside Christian Church. He was a member of the Rocky Ford 765 Masonic Lodge in Hustonville.

Survivors, other than his wife and father, include: two sons, Scott (Stephanie) Rousey, and Chad Rousey, both of Lexington; a daughter, Deborah (Rob) Ristaneo, Daphne, AL; five grandchildren, Robert Ristaneo, Adam Rousey, Nate Rousey, Lauren Ristaneo, and Lucy Ristaneo; two sisters, Janice Randolph, Harrodsburg, and Sue King, Stanford.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Rousey.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 29, at the Gardenside Christian Church by Bro. Joe Cooper. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be the presiding elders of the Gardenside Christian Church and honorary pallbearers will be past elders.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Gardenside Christian Church, 940 Holly Springs Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.

CORA ROYALTY

Honorary pallbearers for Cora Royalty, who died Dec. 25, 2006, were grandchildren Will Craig and Susannah Craig, both living, and the late Maggie Craig Villaflor.

ROBERT CROTTY

Robert Crotty, 47, of Parksville, died Tuesday, January 2, 2007 in Danville.

Born February 2, 1959, in New York, he was a son of Richard and Rosalyn Crotty of FL.

Survivors include: his wife, Nancy Flittner Crotty; two children, Virginia Blackburn, Parksville, and Ronald Robinson, FL; a sister, Elaine Crotty of Florida; two grandchildren, Shannon Deshon and Joey L. Barker Jr., both of Harrodsburg; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 6, by the Rev. Dan Johnson at 1175 Crawford Hollow Road, the home of his daughter.

Wilder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

BERNICE HENDREN

Bernice Rice Hendren, 71, of Nicholasville, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born Feb. 18, 1935 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of Viola Evelyn VanArsdall Rose of Harrodsburg and the late Raymond Hamm, and was the wife of Willis D. 'Bill' Hendren.

She was a retired nurse of the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville and was a member of the Cramer and Hanover Church of Christ.

In addition to her husband and mother, survivors include: one daughter, Cheryl Wolf of Deerfield Beach, FL; one son, Eric Rice of Raleigh, NC; one step-daughter, Dana Hill of Sellersburg, IN; one brother, Willard 'Buddy' Hamm of Harrodsburg; one grandson, and one niece.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Singleton, and her first husband, Donald Rice.

Services will be held Friday, Jan. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bennie Hill officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jack Morris, Omer Casey, Steve Hill, Aaron Hill, Kenneth Hurst and Brennen Royalty.

Honorary pallbearers will be William Floyd, Monty Trower, Marshall Freeman, Ronnie Rice, Jimmy Morris and Noah Lee.

Visitation will be at the funeral chapel today, Thursday, Jan. 11 from 5-8 p.m. and Friday prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Hospice, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40422.

BENNIE HUME

Bennie Lee Hume, 73, of Cornishville Street, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at his home.

Born July 5, 1933 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Bennie and Hannah Lydia Sander Hume, and was the widower of Gleda Laverne Shewmaker Hume.

He was a truck driver and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.

Survivors include: five sons, Ronnie Lee (Wanda) Hume, Gary Gene (Patricia) Hume, Larry Dale (Jennifer) Hume, Michael (Jenny) Hume and Bennie C. 'Sac' Hume, all of Harrodsburg; one sister, Alma (Bobby) Wilham of Harrodsburg; one brother, James A. (Norma) Hume of Harrodsburg; 12 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Katherine Bowman.

Services were held Monday, Jan. 8 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lane Hume, Robert Phillips, Michael Hume Jr., Leroy Bowman, Marvin Bowman Jr. and Ray Thomas Hume.

Honorary pallbearers were Harold Goodlett, James Raley, Marshall Phillips, Jimmy Taylor, Bob Baker and David Goodlett.

MARGARET LESTER

Margaret Carr Lester, 90, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born Oct. 7, 1916 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Will and Annie Byrd Bercaw Carr, and was the widow of Maurice F. Lester.

She was a former employee of Sportleigh Hall, Cricketeer, Jonathan Logan and Shaker Village, and was bookkeeper for Lester's Station. She was a member of Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and Training Union.

Survivors include: two daughters, Jo Anne (J.W.) Logue of Harrodsburg and Doris (Billy Ray) Thompson of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Robert Carr of Peoria, IL; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Maurice Lester; five sisters, Alice Tatum, Mary Jo Young, Cora Kurtz, Nancy Stopher and Helen Wilham, and two brothers, J.P. and P.M. Carr.

Services were held Saturday, Jan. 6 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Jack Geurin and David Crowe officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kevin C. Logue, Joseph Walters, Jay Walters, Bobby Thompson, Larry Stopher and Dane Aldridge.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

NICKY LONG

Merrill Nichols 'Nicky' Long, 46, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007 at his home.

Born June 10, 1960, he was the son of Thelma Nichols Long of Harrodsburg and the late Leon Long.

He was a member of the Harrodsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was involved in the Nicaraguan Prison Ministry.

In addition to his mother, survivors include two daughters, Leslie Long of Harrodsburg and Megan Morris of Lexington.

CARL ANDERSON

Carl H. “Pappy” Anderson, 82, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007.

Born July 3, 1924 in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Richard and Minnie Thompson Anderson, and was the husband of Margaret Devers Anderson.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from I.B.M. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Mount Vernon Lodge #14 F&AM, Oleika Shrine Temple in Lexington, Royal Springs Shrine Club, Scottish Rite, American Legion and the V.F.W. He was district deputy of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky, he ran an upholstery shop specializing in Jeepsters, and he was a Kentucky Colonel.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Virgil “Bud” Edwards of Georgetown; four brothers, Garnett (Naomi) Anderson of Columbus, IN, Marion (Mary) Anderson of Hope, IN, Gene (Jane) Anderson of Logansport, IN, and Cape (Louise) Anderson of Lexington; two sisters, Dorothy Nichols of Lawrenceburg and Bonnie (Sonny) Poulter of Salvisa; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sue Edwards Tipton.

Services were held Friday, June 29 at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home in Georgetown with the Rev. Huey Davis and Pastor Jeff Gibson officiating. Burial with military rites was in Georgetown Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Paul Hackney, Steve Fitch, Ernie Styler, Mark Perry, Terry Devers, Juball Dawes, Eddie Nichols, Alec Poulter and Bobby Jo Young.

Honorary pallbearers were J. C. Jones, Shriners, Masonic Lodge #14, Henry D. Hingst, Luther Fritts, Carl Peters, H. C. Ritchie, Bill Blankenship, Ron Coleman and Jean Hackney.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital, Transportation Fund, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502.

HENRIETTA BROUGHTON

Henrietta Cole Broughton, 69, of Bardstown, died Friday, June 22, 2007 at her home.

She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Grace Cole, and was the wife of Edmond Broughton.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Bardstown Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband survivors include: one son, Ernie Ray Broughton of Sardinia, OH; one daughter, Janice White of Bardstown; four brothers, Kenneth Cole of Harrodsburg, Jasper Cole of Newark, DE, and Franklin Cole and Rollin Cole, both of Lawrenceburg; four sisters, Pearl Leathers of Campbellsville, Pauline Freeman of Lawrenceburg, Maxine Hahn of Bardstown and Imogene Drury of Lexington; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, C. T. Cole and Jessie Cole, and one sister, Rose Stratton.

Services were held Monday, June 25 at the Bardstown Baptist Church with the Revs. David Stokes and Gary McCammon officiating. Burial was in Bardstown Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bardstown Baptist Church “Together We Will Build” fund.

Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown was in charge of arrangements.

LYNN COTTRELL

Lynn Cottrell, 38, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.

Born Jan. 7, 1969 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Mary Dearing Bush of Harrodsburg and the late James Carman Peerce.

She was a former employee of Kerr Manufacturing in Bowling Green, and she enjoyed her children and collecting bears.

In addition to her mother, survivors include: two daughters, Brittanie Cottrell and Heather Lynn Cottrell, both of Harrodsburg; three brothers: Billy Wayne (Barbara) Peerce of West Virginia, and James Carman (Leigh) Peerce and Gary Wayne (Karen) Peerce, both of Bowling Green, and several aunts and uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jonathan Chase Cottrell.

Services will be held Friday July 6 at 2 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jack Anderson, Joe Byrd, Marvin Dearing, Gary Wayne Dearing, Darrell Dearing and James Raymond Drury.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Dearing, Omer Ray Drury, William Dearing Jr., Keith Albright, Stanley Drury and Ron Black.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday, 5-8 p.m., and Friday after 7 a.m.
