BUFORD BUGG

Buford Bugg, 88, of Harrodsburg, widower of Grace Logue Bugg died Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born in Boyle County, Buford was the son of the late Dave and Lucy French Bugg.

He was a retired employee of the City of Harrodsburg Maintenance Department and enjoyed automobiles.

Buford is survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers and two sisters.

A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, November 13, at 11 a.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Bugg, Charles Bugg, Billy Bugg, Tony Tingle, Terry Gregory and Justin Dorsey serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 10 until 10:45 a.m. at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

GANON GOINS

Ganon William Goins, infant son of Brittany Walker and Dennis Goins died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009 at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.

Survivors in addition to his parents are: his maternal grandparents, William and Genise Walker and his paternal grandparents, Randall and Kim Goins.

A graveside service will be conducted Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery with Scott Bugg officiating.

ARLIS LUTTRELL

Rev. Arlis Luttrell, 87, of Logan Avenue, Danville, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 to be with his Lord and Savior whom he served over 50 years.

Born Tuesday, February 7, 1922 in Casey County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Bess Childress Luttrell.

Arlis led many souls to Christ as an evangelist, ordained minister and ordained Bishop of the Church of God based in Cleveland, TN. He was pastor for the Lancaster and Harrodsburg Churches of God for more than 30 years. He also drove a school bus for the Boyle County Schools for 35 years. Arlis served in the Army Artillery Division during WWII where he was the recipient of a Purple Heart in the line of duty for his country. He was a member of the Clays Mill Road Church of God in Lexington and the Disabled American Veterans.

Arlis leaves behind: his loving and devoted wife, Kathy Fletcher Luttrell of Danville; four daughters, Rose (Ronald) Stephens of Stanford, Lucinda Tanner of Bowling Green, Theresa (Rev. Gary) Ballinger of Lexington, and Dixie Luttrell of Danville; three sisters, Marcille Wilkerson and Versie (Thurman) Terry, both of Dunnville and Odean (Marvin) Clements of Cincinnati, OH; one brother, Sherrill (Brenda) Luttrell of Estero, FL; 10 Grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a beloved dog, Katy.

Rev. Luttrell was preceded in death by Beulah Wilkerson Luttrell, his first wife and partner in the ministry and mother of his four daughters, sisters, Lorene Monday and Lois Emerson; and brother, Don Luttrell.

An Appreciation of Life service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 7, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with the Rev. Gary Ballinger and Rev. Chris Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mark Lee, Scott Ballinger, Ronnie Stephens, Cameron Winchester, Jacob Bruns, Devin Ballinger, Jeff Phillips, Jeff Bruns and Greg Wolford.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans or Clays Mill Road Church of God.

LILLIS PHILLIPS

Lillis B. Phillips, 90, of Harrodsburg, widow of Harrison Phillips, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born Feb. 23, 1919 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Troyer and Mary Emma Foster Corn. She was a member of The Carpenter’s Christian Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Glenda (Bruce) Noel and Marilyn (Hobert) Cheatham, both of Harrodsburg; one sister-in-law, Alice Kabler of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and nine-great grandchildren

Funeral services were conducted Nov. 11 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Greg Warren officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery with Danny Holliday, Ralph Phillips III, Donnie Corn, David Waldridge, Darrel Noel, and Kenny Hensley serving as pallbearers.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to The Carpenter’s Christian Church, 1340 U.S. 127 Bypass, Harrodsburg, KY 40330

JANE SAUFLEY

Jane Harris Saufley, 72, died Nov. 7, 2009 in Lexington.

Born Jan. 10, 1937, in Stanford, she was the daughter of the late James C. Harris and Eleanor Campbell Harris.

She was a member of the Stanford Christian Church. She taught for many years with the Lincoln County Board of Education and also worked with Century 21 Wilson Realty and Auction for 23 years.

She is survived by a grandson, Thomas Caswell Saufley Phillips; two sisters, Linda Harris Best and Martha Ann Bastin, and one brother, James R. Harris. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Nov. 10 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Baughman and Dr. Jerry Shepard officiating. Burial was held privately.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Danville Humane Society, Herrington Lake Conservation League or Woodlawn CASA.

LORAINE SPRINGATE

Loraine Springate, 81, widow of Condit Springate, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born April 2, 1928 in Kenton County, she was the daughter of the late Eunice and Maudolene Wilson Black.

She retired after twenty eight years from Corning Glass in Harrodsburg and was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Gayle (Darrell) Chapman of Lexington and Dianne Lynn Peavler of Harrodsburg; one brother Burnice (Altha) Black of Winchester; one sister, Wanda Stumph of Tennessee; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Harmon and Charlotte Helen Black.

Funeral services were conducted Nov. 2 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Matthew Riley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery with Todd Ransdell, Darrell Chapman, Keith Robinson, Dave Reister, Brett Cheek, Bobby Riley, and Kenny Dean serving as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Adult Senior Women Sunday School Class at Hopewell Baptist Church.

DORIS STENBERG

Doris Lavonne Erickson Stenberg, 78, of Salvisa, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at her residence.

Born April 12, 1931 in Moody County, South Dakota she was the daughter of the late Conred and Ester Olsen Erickson.

She worked as an accountant and bookkeeper for the military, former co-owner and bookkeeper of Clay-Wachs Stock Yards in Lexington, and was a co-owner and former bookkeeper of the127 Food Center, Salvisa General Store and Salvisa Builders Express.

She was a member of the Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church and is survived by her husband of 34 years, Bennett Stenberg; 3 children, Scott (Lisa) Jessen and Chuck Jessen of Florida and Linda Sexton of Salvisa; 4 step-children, Cynthia (Warren) Tingle of Georgia, Larry (Missy) Stenberg of Indiana, DeAnn (Jim) Clark of South Dakota and Paul (Debbie) Stenberg of Salvisa; a brother, Bobby (Sherry) Erickson of South Dakota; and two sisters, Marian Fargen of South Dakota and Sharon Foss of Minnesota; 2 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Nov. 9 at the Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Karen Stigall officiating. Burial was in the Hebron Cemetery in Anderson County.

Pallbearers were Scott Jessen, Larry Stenberg, Paul Stenberg, Heather Crawley, Justin Stenberg, and Adam Clark.

Memorials are suggested to the Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church, 565 Carlton Dr., Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.

The Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg was in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM STINSON

William Byron Stinson, 65, Bowling Green, formerly of Harrodsburg died recently at his residence.

Born Jan. 13, 1944 in Louisville, he was the son of the late Garland V. and Lila Barnard Stinson.

He was an Air Force veteran of Vietnam, a U.S. Navy veteran, a farmer, and former employee at Drury’s Saddlery in Harrodsburg.

He is survived by a daughter, Alison B. Stinson Claunch of Harrodsburg.

There were no services or visitation; the body was cremated.

Sims Funeral Services of Harrodsburg was in charge of arrangements.

SIGEL TURNER

Mr. Sigel Turner, 75, passed away November 2, 2009 at his residence following a battle with cancer.

Born April 26, 1934 in Breathitt County, he was the son of the late Dave and Evalee Raleigh Turner. He was the second child of 12.

He was a retired farmer and was retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He was Baptist.

Mr. Turner enjoyed nature, talking walks, and feeding and watching birds, squirrel and deer. He loved family and friends and summer afternoons relaxing on the porch visiting. He also loved watching and discussing University of Kentucky basketball.

Survivors include: five brothers, Henry (Barbara) Turner, James William Turner, Raleigh (Wilma) Turner, Cale (Linda) Turner and Leonard Turner, all of Booneville; five sisters, Mrs. Rachel Stamper of Beattyville, Molly Turner, Mary Turner and Martha Turner, all of Booneville, and Mrs. Wanda Lee (James) Noel of Harrodsburg; several niece and nephews, including a niece, Rosalind Turner, of Harrodsburg, and several great-nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Elliott Turner.

The funeral was held at Searcy and Strong Funeral Home with the Rev. Jamison Brunk officiating. Burial was in the Dave Turner Family Cemetery on the Turner Farm in Booneville.

Pallbearers were nephews, Shelby Stamper Jr., Johnny Turner, Michael David Turner, David Thomas Noel, Christopher Raleigh Noel and Patrick Kirkland Noel, and a niece, Lisa Turner.

FREDDIE WOODS

Freddie Wayne Woods, 49, of Lancaster, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at his home.

Born March 31, 1960 in Danville, he was the son of Bonnie Jean Lane Woods and the late Dallas Woods.

He was a carpenter.

Survivors other than his mother include: one son, Brandon (Shena) Woods of Nicholasville; three sisters, Kathy Gale Woods, Vickie Plunkett and Linda (Steve) Tipton all of Lancaster; Brother-in-law, James Goins; and Caregiver, Marietta Watts.

He was predeceased by a sister, Debbie Goins.

Funeral services were conducted Nov. 10 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Brother Charlie Lawson officiating. Burial was in the Woods Family Cemetery, Lancaster.

Pallbearers were Brandon Woods, James Goins, Steve Tipton, Timmy Woods, Donnie Woods and Rickie Aldridge.

Memorial contributions may be sent to American Cancer Fund.

BRENDA CARROLL

Brenda Joanne Carroll, 64, of Burgin, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born September 15, 1945 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Maude (Freeman) Cummins. She was a former Genesco, CDR & Keystone employee.

Survivors include: her husband, Richard Carroll; two daughters, Lesa Gayle (Mark) Selby of Perryville, and Dana Joanne (Cecil) McElroy of Moreland; two sons, Richard Dwayne Carroll and William Lake Carroll, both of Burgin; one sister, Gayle Potts of PA; six brothers, Frank Cummins of Stanford, Ricky Cummins of McKinney, Timothy Cummins, Bradley Cummins and Mike Cummins, all of Junction City, and Cecil Cummins of Lancaster; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 5 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with burial in the Burgin Memorial Garden.
