MRS. NEOLA BRIDGES COX "MAMA COX"
Funeral services for Mrs. Neola Bridges Cox "Mama Cox", age 88, will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 14, 2001 at Holmesville Baptist Church with Dr. Connie Ward officiating. Burial will be at the Holmesville cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.
Mrs. Cox, a homemaker, died Friday, May 11, 2001 after a sudden illness, she was a lifelong resident of Union Parish and a member of Holmesville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Courtland Cox; son-Delma C. Cox and daughter - Orean Enroth.
Survivors include her three daughters: Anita Long Farrier and husband Bennett Farrier of Baton Rouge, Montyne Miller and husband Hugh Miller of LaDonia, TX and JoAnn Biloon and husband Bud of Anaheim, CA; two brothers: Benford Bridges of Baton Rouge and Moody Bridges of Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Long, Mike Miller, James Cox, Van Johnson, Sonny Bearden and Davner Cox.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Sunday at Farrar Funeral Home and 10 until 11 AM at Holmesville Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association; 805 Stubbs Avenue; Monroe, LA 71201.

MRS. VIOLET MARTIN
Funeral services for Mrs. Violet Martin, age 73, of West Monroe, LA will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 14, 2001 at Cypress Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Eubanks, Rev. Ray Jones and Rev. George Bonner officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Martin died Saturday, May 12, 2001 at her residence.
Mrs. Martin was a member of Cypress Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter - Sandra Hendrix, parents - Ward and Corrine Allen and her brother Cecil Allen.
Survivors include her husband: William Cecil Martin; four children: Vicky Usrey and husband Pete, Tanya Waggoner and husband Kenneth, Wayne Martin and wife Kathy and Allen Martin; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren, all of West Monroe, LA.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 9:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home and 1 until service time Monday at the church.

BURTON OLIVER BERRY
JOSEPH, LA - Burton Oliver Berry, age 85, of St. Joseph, LA was born July 5, 1915 in Tensas, LA and died Sunday, May 13, 2001 at his residence.
Services time beginning at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph, LA with Reverend Art Baker and Reverend Kibbie Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Legion Memorial cemetery in Newellton, LA.
Mr. Berry was in the Agri-Business and was a veteran of the Navy.
Oliver was a life long resident of Tensas Parish. He was a graduate of LSU, veteran of World War II, serving his country as a Lt. aboard the USS battleship Texas. He owned and operated St. Joseph Elevator, Co. Inc, since 1949, was a member of St. Joseph Rotary Club, Charter Member of Lake Bruin Country Club, member of the First United Methodist Church, Cross Keys Bank Board member since 1971.
Pallbearers will be Mack Lancaster, Pat Williams, Rob Lancaster, Hank Rabb, Sonny Simmons, David Stiles, Scott Watson and Jimmy White.
Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Burnside, Jimmie Crigler, Carneal Goldman, Harry Goldman, Jack Grace, Robert James Lancaster, Robert Manning, William Wade Watson, Carter Webb, Charles Williams and Philip Watson.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years: Billie Sadler Berry of St. Joseph, LA 71366; stepmother: Minnie Berry of St. Joseph, LA 71366; daughter: Jan Burnside of Newellton, LA; daughter: Beth Berry of Monroe, LA; brother: Fred Berry of Longview, TX; brother: Burton Berry of Monroe, LA; granddaughter: Berry Burnside of Newellton, LA; grandson: Rob Burnside of Newellton, LA; son-in-law: Frank Burnside of Newellton, LA; five nephews and nine nieces.
preceded in death by: Parents, Burton Wesley and Katherine Berry; one brother, Ed Berry; and one sister, Elizabeth Lynch.

LOUISE GILLESPIE HENDRICKSON
Louise Gillespie Hendrickson, age 81, died in Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston, Louisiana on May 13, 2001 after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Overton, Texas.
Mrs. Hendrickson was preceded in death by her father, William Alexander Gillespie, mothers Annalu Phillips Gillespie and Ora Warren Gillespie, husbands Robert R. James and William H. Hendrickson, and son Robert R. James, Jr.
Survivors include her children, Robert G. James and wife Laurie, Loralu James Conville and husband Bobby, Noel B. James, II, and wife Carol, and her brother Bruce Gillespie and sister Molly G. Heath. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Scott Conville, and wife Caroline, Ann James, Adrian James, Gabe Conville, Andrew James, Camille Conville, Amanda James, Elisha James, and great grandchild Caleb Conville. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a devoted caregiver Pam Kennedy.
Family graveside services will be held at the Overton City cemetery in Overton, Texas, on May 15, 2001. Family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Memorials may be made to the Methodist Children's Home, 901 South Vienna Street, Ruston, Louisiana 71270.

MRS. PAT SCARBOROUGH
ices for Mrs. Pat Scarborough, 54, of Marion, LA will be at 2 PM Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at White's Ferry Road Church of Christ with Bro. Larry White and Danny Jolinson officiating. Interment will be in Liberty cemetery-Linville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Mrs. Scarborough died Sunday, May 13, 2001 in Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Scarborough was a member of Haile Church of Christ. She was employed with Marion State Bank for over 23 years. Mrs. Scarborough was preceded in death by her father, Percy Keene.
Survivors are her husband: Doyle Scarborough of Marion, LA; daughter: Denise Summerhill and husband Eddie of West Monroe, LA; mother: Lovelle Keene of West Monroe, LA; one sister: Freda Jones and husband Perry of Elkhart, TX; two brothers: Larry Keene and wife Kathy of Calhoun, LA; Jerry Keene and wife Tammy of Brookhaven, MS; two grandsons: Matthew Summerhill; and Stephen Summerhill both of West Monroe, LA; mother-in-law: Myrt Scarborough; sister-in-law: Betty Baker; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Randy Autrey, Gary Harrell, Roger Easterling, James Scarborough, William Spillers, Dale Lusby, Kaleb Keene, and Matthew Summerhill.
Visitation will be 1 until service time Tuesday at the church.

MR. AVERY EUGENE SMITH
Services for Mr. Avery Eugene Smith, 65, of Monroe, LA will be at 2 PM Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at Owens Memorial Chapel, Ruston with Rev. Wesley Pittman officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn cemetery, Calhoun, under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. For more information and directions log on to our website @ www.legacy.com.
Mr. Smith died Sunday, May 13, 2001 at Willis-Knighton in Shreveport after a brief illness.
He was a pipefitter Member of Local #659, Plumbers & Pipefitters Union.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Elizabeth Mozelle Smith; two brothers: James and Everette Smith; and parents: Lilly Bell and Avery Smith.
Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law: Kevin and Marrianne Smith of West Monroe; one brother and sister-in-law: Bobby and JoAnn Smith; two sisters: Marie Wallace and Francis Gregory; five grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Maudell Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Smith will be truly missed by all who knew him. All who knew him loved him dearly.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Smith, Mark Smith, Timmy Smith, Cecil Shuman, Doug Taylor, Andy Bamburg, and Andy Harbor.

MRS. NANCY T. JOHNSON
Service for Mrs. Nancy T. Johnson will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at 11 AM at the New Light Baptist Church, 1623 S. 4th St., Monroe.
Mrs. Johnson departed this life Friday, May 11, 2001 at North Monroe Medical Center. She was a graduate of Grambling State University and U. L. M. Mrs. Johnson was employed with the Monroe City School System where she served as an English teacher at Carroll Magnet High School. She was the founder of the African American Museum and a well known church and community leader.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. James B. Johnson; daughter, Natalie Johnson; son, Jarrell Johnson; sisters, Vera Louis and Ruby Thomas; brothers, L. V. Taylor, Allen and Steve Harrison.
Visitation will be from 1 PM - 7 PM in the Alice M. Miller Chapel of the Miller Funeral Home.
In lieu of floral contributions, the family requests the memorials be made to the African American Museum in memory of Mrs. Nancy T. Johnson.

MR. JEFF DAVIS KIRK
SAN ANTONIO, TX - Services for Mr. Jeff Davis Kirk, age 94, of San Antonio, TX, formerly of West Monroe will be at 2 PM, Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Charles Martindale officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn cemetery.
Mr. Kirk died May 13, 2001 in San Antonio, TX.
Mr. Kirk was a resident of West Monroe from 1964 until 1997, where he was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Monroe and the Senior Citizens Club of the parish. He retired from the Cottonseed Oil Mill. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Emma L. Kirk, son Jeff Darrell Kirk, daughter-in-law Betty A. Kirk, and great-granddaughter, Lora L. Swindle Trout.
Survivors include his grandson: S. David Kirk and wife, Marlene of San Antonio, TX; granddaughter: Rita G. Swindle and her husband, Cary of Coppell, TX; great granddaughter: Jessica D. (Kirk) Rasmussen and husband Cory of Abilene, TX; two great grandsons: Matthew K. Swindle of Coppell, TX, J. D. Kirk of San Antonio, TX.

MRS. EVA REEVES COLLINS
Services for Mrs. Eva Reeves Collins, of Monroe, LA will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, May 17, 2001 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel, Lamy Lane, Monroe, LA. Interment will be in Monroe Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Lamy Lane, Monroe.
Mrs. Collins was born October 9, 1920 at Summerville, LA and passed away at her residence on May 14, 2001 after a brief illness. She was a retired supervisor of The Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicle Division.
She was preceded in death by her parents Estelle and Andrew Reeves, five siblings, Armin Reeves, Thomas Reeves, Earl Reeves, Ana Hooter and Audie Belknap and her former husband, John F. Collins.
Survivors are daughter: Linda Collins Gard of Lafayette, LA; sons: Gary Lewis Collins of Wiaiane, HI; and Ted Charles Collins of Monroe, LA; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Charles Bradberry, Ray Bradberry, Ted Gard, Tom Gard, and Andy Gard.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 - 8 PM and Thursday from 9 AM until time of service at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Lamy Lane, Monroe, LA.
