FERRIDAY, La. - Services for James Christopher Metcalf, 27, of Clayton, La., who died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Forest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Young's Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Jerry Sharp officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery in Sicily Island, La. under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Metcalf was born Sept. 14, 1975, in Natchez.

He was employed by D&D; Drilling and was a member of Foules Church of God.

Mr. Metcalf was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Carl Crews and maternal grandmother, Anne Jeonette Crews.

Survivors include his father, James "Shorty" Marable Metcalf of Cash Bayou, La.; his mother, Audrey Crews Kipp of Rangely, Colo.; sister, Amanda Jeanette Clara Metcalf of Rangely, Colo.; paternal grandmother, Mary Lea Metcalf of Cash Bayou, La.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Cooper, Josh Ludiker, Kirk Cavin, Rick Gillespie, Benji Nelson and Shawn Ogle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Knight, Aaron Knight, Willard Kassel and Richard Crews.

Donald Melvin "Bull" Thornhill, Jr.

March 4, 1963 - July 7, 2003

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Donald Melvin "Bull" Thornhill, Jr., 40, of Clayton, La., who died Monday, July 7, 2003, in Clayton, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Williams officiating.

Burial will be in New Pine Hill cemetery in Sicily Island, La. under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Thornhill was born March 4, 1963, in Ferriday, the son of Donald M. Thornhill, Sr. and Sadie T. Thornhill.

He was a life long resident of Concordia Parish, a Baptist and was an oil field worker.

Mr. Thornhill was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Allen Thornhill.

Survivors include his father, Donald M. Thornhill, Sr. of Clayton and step-mother, Rachel Goodger; mother, Sadie Mae Thornhill of Ridgecrest, La.; son, Donald M. Thornhill, III of Ferriday; two brothers, Tony Thornhill and Danny Ray Thornhill, both of Clayton; sister, Donna Smith of Gilbert, La.

Pallbearers will be Joey Smith, Sr., Joey Smith, Jr., Josh Smith, Christopher Longmire, Danny Hale and Mitchell Gossett.

Ordia "Pete" Reardon

April 7, 1915 - July 11, 2003

JONESVILLE, La. - Services for Ordia "Pete" Reardon, 88, of Jonesville, who died Friday, July 11, 2003, at Columns Nursing Home in Jonesville, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Young's Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesville with the Rev. Dewayne Knapp officiating.

Burial will be in Utility cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Jonesville.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Reardon was born April 7, 1915, in Jonesville.

Affectionately known as "Aunt Pete", she was a member of Wallace Ridge Baptsit Church. She was a descendant of Thomas Oglethorpe and Mary Varner who settled in Catahoula Parish in 1840.

Mrs. Reardon was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Reardon; her father, Thomas Marion Oglethorpe; her mother, May Lea Oglethorpe.

Survivors include four sons, Ralph Reardon and his wife, Jeannette of Belle Chasse, La., Al Reardon and his wife, Debi of Ethel, La., Leonard Reardon and his wife, Jean of Longview, TX and Jack Reardon and his wife, Toni of Natchez; five daughters, Linda Ryan and her husband, Leo of Jonesville, Annette Jenkins and her husband, Wayne of Vidalia, Ruth Hall of Baton Rouge, La., Judy Chipman and her husband, Randy of St. James, Mo. and Sally Clark and her husband, Matthew of Baton Rouge; 28 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Lester Jones

Aug. 2, 1950 - July 4, 2003

WATERPROOF, La. - Services for Lester Jones, 52, of Waterproof, who died Friday, July 4, 2003, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, La., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie E. Green, Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Mr. Jones was born Aug. 2, 1950, in Waterproof, the son of Willie and Ruth Johnson Jones.

He was employed with the Salt Lake City Utah School System and served in the United States Navy.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include one son, Anthony Jones of Salt Lake City, UT; one sister, Barbara Wells of New Orleans, La.; two brothers, Rodney Jones of Atlanta, Ga. and Willie R. Jones of Granger, UT.

Jewel Ann Haralson

June 28, 1960 - July 9, 2003

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Jewel Ann Haralson, 43, of Newellton, La. and formerly of Waterproof, La., who died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. today at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Richardson officiating.

Burial will be in Heard cemetery in Manifest, La. under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Ms. Haralson was born June 28, 1960, in Ferriday, the daughter of William Edward and Maylene Craft Hobbs.

She was a resident of Newellton for a year and formerly of Waterproof. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Ms. Haralson was preceded in death by her father, William Edward Hobbs; her grandparents, Mary and Eddie Hobbs; and a nephew, Jordan Guillot.

Survivors include her mother, Maylene Hobbs of Ferriday; one daughter, Natalie Wren Duncan of Ferriday; one brother, Ronnie Hobbs of Monroe, La.; and one sister, Rhonda Guillot of Ferriday.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Duncan, Robert Duncan, Bud Duncan, Greg Duncan, Jr., Kevin McAllister and Jay Townsend.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Duncan, Ronnie Hobbs, Dorian Guillot and Philip James.

Opal B. Mitchell

June 28, 1916 - July 9, 2003

LISMORE, La. - Services for Opal B. Mitchell, 87, of Monterey, La., who died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Columns Nursing Home in Jonesville, La., will be at 2 p.m. today at Lismore Baptist Church with the Revs. Ken Gilmore and Raymond Gene Beard officiating.

Burial will be in Whites Bayou in Monterey under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Jonesville.

Mrs. Mitchell was born June 28, 1916, in Monterey.

She was a homemaker and a member of Lismore Baptist Church.

Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy Ford, Essie Jordan, Clara Jones, Faye Coleman and Ida Mae Thompson; four brothers, BeBee Beard, Curtis Beard, R.W. Beard and Pugh Artis Beard; her mother, Mary Beard; her father, Jeff Davis Beard; great-granddaughter, Rebecca Dryg.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Leo Mitchell Sr. of Monterey; three sons, Price Gallup and Leo Mitchell Jr. of Monterey and Tony Mitchell of Lafayette, La.; two daughters, Mary Core and Dorothy Millican of Monterey; one brother, H.D. "Blount" Beard of Monterey; two sisters, Gladys McCall of Acme, La. and Bernadette Young of Monterey; 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ernie Thompson, Tommy Tiffee, Mark Beard, Terry Whatley, Jeff Barinsfather and Keith Owens.

Honorary pallbearers are Hub King and Henry King.

Cathy Michele Whitehead

May 3, 1974 - July 3, 2003

VIDALIA, La. - Services for Cathy Michele Whitehead, 29, of St. Martinville, who died Thursday, July 3, 2003, in Breaux Bridge, were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Young's Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Harrigill officiating.

Burial was at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Miss Whitehead was born May 3, 1974, in Natchez, the daughter of Margaret Whitehead and Guy W. Whitehead. She was a student and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her companion, Rodney "Jo Jo" Evans Fontenot.

Survivors include a daughter, Jordan E. Edwards of St. Martinville; two brothers, William Allen Cross and wife Linda of Memphis, Tenn., and John Michael Cross of Vidalia; an uncle and his wife, J.D. and Dean Cummings of Winnsboro; and an aunt, Cathy P. Martin of Lake Charles.

Pallbearers were David Donald, Gordon Arnold, Tim Yielding, Scott Swinny, Russ Cummings and Chad Snyder.

Lester Jones

Funeral arrangements for Lester Jones, 52, of Waterproof, La., who died Friday, July 4, 2003, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday La., are incomplete at Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Elsie Marie Hawkes

VIDALIA, La. - Services for Elsie Marie Hawkes, 80, of Vidalia, who died Friday, July, 4, 2003, in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Kunnumpurrum officiating.

Burial will be at the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with a Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Hawkes was born July 19, 1922, in Thibodeaux, the daughter of Alfred and Aline L. Bourgeois. She was a resident of Concordia Parish for 58 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Oldon Bourgeois and Alfred Bourgeois.

Survivors include her husband, C.G. Hawkes Jr. of Vidalia; a son, Gary Hawkes of Vidalia; three daughters, Cathy Metcalfe, Charlette Watson and Kay Hawkes, all of Vidalia; a brother, Ewell Bourgeois of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Elvie Levron, Shirley Guillot and Louella Hernandez, all of Thibodeax; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Survivors include Stuart Boykin, Gary Bourgeois, Randall Bourgeois, Jason Hawkes, Eric Phillipe, Barton Blake Gremillion, Dennis Bourgeois and Ronald Bourgeois.

Honorary pallbearer will be Ryan Phillipe.

Doris Stephens Long

VIDALIA, La. - Services for Doris Stephens Long, 72, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, were at 2 p.m. Friday at Young's Funeral Home in Vidalia.

Burial was at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Long was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Oak Grove, the daughter of S.D. Stephens and Ora Lee Thames Stephens. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Sansone and Tanya Schrader, both of Vidalia; three sisters, Ruby Madden of Oak Grove, Rachel Howell of Silsbee, Texas, and Rean Trujillo of Vidalia; a brother, Billy Dean Stephens of Rocky Branch; two grandsons, Anthony Sansone of Ennis, Texas, and Marcus Scirocco of Natchez; two granddaughters, April Sansone of Natchez and Medina Scirocco of Lafayette; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Pace, Cody Pace and Nicholas Scirocco, all of Natchez; three brothers; and one sister.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Sansone, Fred Trujillo, David Hedrick, todd Ainsworth and Ralph Martin Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Martin St. and Pat Reed.
