Burial will be in the Holly Oak cemetery of Pineville, La. under the direction of Richardson & Sims Funeral Home in Ferriday, La.

Survivors include six sons, Mack LaCour of Chicago, Ill., Nathan Roberts of Houston, Texas, Michael Sarpy of Simsport, La., Petter Sarpy of Houston, and Frances Sarpy of Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Mary Rachal of Ferriday, La. and Janet Sarpy of Katy, Texas; three brothers, Collins Coutee of Natchitoches, La., Harry Coutee, and John Coutee of Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Nathan Roberts, Peter Sarpy, Michael Sarpy, Anthony Rachal, Henery Armstrong, and Corey Roberts.

John D. Pecanty

June 6, 1940 - July 26, 2004

ACME, La. - Graveside services for John D. Pecanty, 64, of Monterey, La., who died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Golden Age in Jena, La., will be at 4 p.m. today at Acme cemetery with the Rev. Jackie Alexander officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Jonesville, La.

Leroy Lucien Green

Aug. 24, 1925 - July 24, 2004

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Leroy Lucien Green, 78, of Harrisonburg, La., who died Saturday, July 24, 2004, in Livingston, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. today at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Martin officiating.

Burial will be in the New Pine Hill cemetery in Sicily Island, La. under the direction of the funeral home.

Flora M. Baxter

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Flora M. Baxter, 78, of Vidalia, La., who died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday July 28, 2004 at Young's Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday, La. with the Rev. Glen Harrigill officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lavern O'Quin Miller

VIDALIA, La. - Services for Lavern O'Quin Miller, 80, of Vidalia who died Friday, June 23, 2004, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. today at Young's Funeral Home with Rev. Berry Dennis officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Miller was a retired telephone operator with South Central Bell and a member of Vidalia United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie N. O'Quin and Myrtis Inez Kennedy O'Quin; a daughter, Patricia Ann Taylor; and two brothers, Burnell O'Quin and R.J. O'Quin.

Survivors include her husband, Wilson P. Miller of Vidalia; two daughters, Mary King and husband Philip of Summit and Linda Lawson and husband Billy of Miamisburg, Ohio; a son, Paul E. Miller and wife Michelle of Ferriday; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Murray, James Thames, Christopher Lawson, Tony Lancaster, Donnie Lancaster, Michael Taylor, Jeff Taylor and Corey Miller.

Leroy L. Green

FERRIDAY, La. - Funeral arrangements for Leroy L. Green, 73, of Livingston, Texas, formerly of Monterey, are incomplete at Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Overton Hood

Dec. 17, 1916 - Aug. 27, 2004

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Overton Hood, 87, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Alexandria, La., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Leroy White officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Hood was born Dec. 17, 1916, in Smeed, the son of General and Beatrice Haywood Hood.

He was a retired meat cutter and served in World War II from March 1943 to May 1946.

Survivors include his wife, Kizzie McKinney Hood of Ferriday; two daughters, Pamela D. Hood of Vandalia, Mo. and Anita Hood of Ferriday; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rosiland Mallory Arkin

MANY, La. - Services for Rosiland Mallory Arkin, 52, of Many, La., who died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004 in Riverside, Calif., will be 1 p.m. Thursday at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Many, La. with the Rev. Clois Rodgers officiating.

Burial will be in the New Jerusalem Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Davis Mortuary of Leesville, La.

Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.

Mrs. Arkin was a secretary and a Baptist.

Robbi M. McKenzie

March 1, 1957 -- Aug. 26, 2004

PARHAMS, La. -- Services for Robbi M. McKenzie, 47, of Parhams, who died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, in Parhams, will be held at 10 a.m. today at Parhams Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Ganey officiating.

Burial will follow at Rice cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Clarence Skipper

May 4, 1926 - Aug. 22, 2004

WILDSVILLE, La. - Services for Clarence Skipper, 78, of Ferriday, La., who died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at his residence, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Old Daughter Baptist Church with Rev. T. A. Baker Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in the Old Daughter Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday, La.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Skipper was born May 4, 1926, in Natchez, the son of Harold and Birdie Skipper.

He was a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Artrie Bloodsaw Skipper of Ferriday, La.; four sons, Kerry Skipper of Dallas, Texas, Morris Skipper of Ferriday, La., Saul (Helen) Skipper of Jonesville, La., and Michael Taylor of Gary, Ind.; three daughters, Leslie Hunt of Natchez, Gwen Moore of Las Vegas, Nev., and Doris Moungle of Ferriday, La.; three brothers, Robert (Mary) Skipper, Harold (Augustine) Skipper, both of Ferriday, La., and Winfred Skipper of Detroit, Mich.; four sisters, Ruby Skipper, Frankie (Rev. Cleveland) Brown, both of Ferriday, La., Jennie Skipper of Baton Rouge, La., and Annie M. (Robert) Evans of Chicago, Ill.; one aunt, Gertrude Barber of Ferriday, La.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Ernest Whitehead

JONESVILLE, La. - Services for Ernest Whitehead, 57, of Shreveport, La., formerly of Ferriday, La., who died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004 at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Moss Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. T. A. Baker Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in the Moss Grove Baptist Church cemetery under the direct of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday, La.

Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Whitehead was born Apr. 13, 1947, the son of Oscar and Ellen Saddler Whitehead.

He was a farmer.

Survivors include two daughters, Tonya Johnson of Ferriday, La. and Cassandra Millender of Monroeville, Ala.; one son, Ernest Whitehead Jr. of Ferriday, La.; five brothers, Joe Whitehead, Freddie Whitehead, and Willie Whitehead, all of Houston, Texas, Perry Whitehead and Sam Whitehead, both of New Orleans, La.; two sisters, Lavern Whitehead and Carrie Bowie, both of Shreveport, La.; eleven grandchildren; one aunt, Millie Saddler; one uncle, Henry Saddler of Alexandria, La.

Frederick "Ron" Lollis

Jan. 27, 1966 - Aug. 23, 2004

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Frederick "Ron" Lollis, 38, of Ferriday, La., who died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, in Ferriday, La., will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church with the Rev. T. A. Baker Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in the Ferriday cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday, La.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lollis was born Jan. 27, 1966, in Jonesville, La., the son of Sam and Ruby Spurs Lollis.

He was a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a nephew, Elbert Leonard.

Survivors include his mother, Ruby Spurs Lollis of Ferriday, La., ; one son, Frederick Bethley of Ferriday, La; one step-son, Anthony McCray of Ferriday, La.; three daughters, LaToya Brown, Keosha Spurs, and Erica Jones, all of Ferriday, La.; two stepdaughters, Lachiquita McCray and Vannicea McCray, both of Ferriday, La.; four brothers, Reginald (Beverly) Spurs of Houston, Texas, Irvin (Yvonne) Spurs of Prince George, Va., Elbert (Debra) Spurs and Dave (Carolyn) Spurs, both of Ferriday, La.; one grandchild, Tyran Webster of Ferriday, La.; one aunt; and three uncles.

Robert Joseph Knapik Sr.

Sept. 12, 1939 - Aug. 22, 2004

VIDALIA, La. - Robert Joseph Knapik Sr., 64, of Vidalia, who died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. today at Young's Funeral Home Chapel in Vidalia with the Rev. Dan Glynn officiating.

Services are under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Vidalia.

Mr. Knapik was born Sept. 12, 1939, in Waterbury, Conn.

He was a computer programer with Union National Insurance Company, was a Methodist and was involved in various local organizations.

Mr. Knapik was preceded in death by his father, Stephen J. Knapik Sr.; his mother, Lillian Knapik; and brother, Curtis J. Knapik.

Survivors include his fiancee, Karen Grove of Mount Morris, Mich.; daughters, Cheryl Knapik and Denise Knapik, both of Vidalia, La.; son, Robert Knapik Jr. and wife, Angie of Monroe, La.; grandson, Bryce Knapik of Monroe; brothers, Stephen J. Knapik Jr., Gary J. Knapik and Dennis J. Knapik, all of Naugatuck, Conn,

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The American Heart Association.

VIDALIA, La. - Graveside services for Kenneth Marquis King, infant, of Natchez, who died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be a 10 a.m. today at Vidalia cemetery with the Rev. Willie Anderson officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 8 to 9:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Kenneth was born Aug. 20, 2004, in Adams County, MS the son of Sheena McKeel and Kenya King Sr.

Lyell P. Miller

JONESVILLE, La. -- Services for Lyell P. Miller, 35, of Jonesville, who died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in Meadville will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Kenneth Greer and Jack Knapp officiating.

Burial will follow at Providence Memorial cemetery in Winnsboro under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
