FARMER, CARMEN AUGUSTA ADAMS
December 23, 2001

Carmen Augusta Adams Farmer, a retired investor, died Dec. 16 at Memorial Medical Center. She was 90. Mrs. Farmer was born in White Castle and lived in New Orleans for the past 60 years. Survivors include a son, Thomas Shelby Farmer; two sisters, Maycel Frances Adams Hixon and Edd Marie Adams Muths, both of Houston; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be private. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CERDAS, BESSIE CUEVAS
December 23, 2001

Bessie Cuevas Cerdas, a homemaker, died Friday at Slidell Memorial Hospital. She was 84. Mrs. Cerdas was born in Pass Christian, Miss., and lived in Slidell for the past 20 years. Survivors include a daughter, Ginger Cerdas Moore; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 12:30 p.m. at Schoen Funeral Home, 3808 Pontchartrain Drive, Slidell. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery in Slidell.

BOURGEOIS, CYRIL JR.
December 23, 2001

Cyril Bourgeois Jr., a retired laundry manager, died Friday of lung cancer at Cannon Hospice Care. He was 63. Mr. Bourgeois was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a former employee of Shop Steward and was recognized as employee of the month. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Mae Bourgeois; three daughters, Carlotta Hilton, Zina Woodard and Audreé Lee; his mother, Mary Rachel Joseph; a brother, Louis Thomas; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. John No. 5 Baptist Church, 3613 Hamburg St. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Gaskin-Southall-Gordon & Gordon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

TATE, LEAR HAMPTON
December 23, 2001

Lear Hampton Tate, a commercial cleaning employee, died Wednesday of complications from Alzheimer's disease at her home. She was 75. Ms. Tate was born in Liberty, Miss., and lived in Violet. She was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Leo Tate Jr.; nine daughters, Leollia T. Encalade, Arreiae Steen T. Hills, Glenda T. Ceaser, Janet T. Richard, Anita T. Curry, and Cynthia, Kathy, Deborah and Pamela Tate; 45 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 2428 Flood St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Merrick cemetery.

SHYMANSKI, SARA MIMS BUCHANAN
December 23, 2001

Sara Mims Buchanan Shymanski, a retired fifth-grade teacher and elementary librarian at St. Martin's Episcopal School, died Wednesday at Adventist Health Care Center in Lumberton, Miss. She was 90. Mrs. Shymanski was born in Howell, Tenn., and lived in New Orleans for more than 50 years. She attended St. Martin's Episcopal School. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include a sister, Mary Elizabeth Buchanan Metcalfe. A memorial service was held Thursday at Grace Episcopal Church. Her body was donated to Tulane Medical School.

REINHARD, CARLA
December 23, 2001

Carla Reinhard, a chaplain at Ochsner Foundation Hospital, died Friday of cancer at Maison Orleans Nursing Home No. 2. She was 45. Ms. Reinhard was born in Shreveport and lived in New Orleans. She graduated from Ecole Classique High School and attended Phillips Business College. She was a member of the Companion of Jesus Good Shepherd, the Third Order of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, the Deutsches Haus and a member of the Dominican Prayer Group. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Dominican Convent, 580 Broadway St. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be private. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

PRICE, SISTER LUCY
December 23, 2001

Sister Lucy Price, SBS, a retired member of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, died Dec. 6 of stomach cancer at the order's infirmary in Bensalem, Pa. She was 79. Sister Lucy was born in Dublin. She left Ireland in 1939 to enter apostolic school of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. She graduated from high school and professed her vows in 1943. From 1943 to 1972, Sister Lucy was an elementary school teacher in New Orleans, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York and Chicago. In 1975, following full-time studies at Creighton University, Sister Lucy joined the faculty of Xavier University Preparatory School in New Orleans as a mathematics teacher. A funeral was held Dec. 11 at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in Bensalem. A Mass will be said in her honor Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 5018 Constance St.

PALMER, MORRIS C.
December 23, 2001

Morris C. Palmer, an employee of Harahan Guest House, died Wednesday of cancer at his home. He was 53. Mr. Palmer was born in New Orleans and lived in Avondale. He attended Lincoln High School. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Palmer; a son, Terrance B. Palmer; two daughters, Melissa A. Palmer and Felicia Harold; his mother, Alberta P. Chapman; four brothers, Herman L. Chapman and Nathaniel Sr., Rudolph and Stanley Singleton; three sisters, Lillie Rose Chapman-Kinchen, Betty A. Smith and Jessina Clark; and seven grandchildren. A wake will be held today at 7 p.m. at Second St. John Baptist Church, 242 Avondale Garden Road. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. A funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Restlawn cemetery. Davis Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

BARRON, MARGARET McCALLUM
December 7, 2001

Margaret McCallum Barron, a retired employee with the LSU Extension Service in New Orleans, died Wednesday at her home. She was 80. Mrs. Barron was born in New Orleans and lived in Ruston. She was a 1942 graduate of Louisiana Tech, and she received a master's degree from Louisiana State University. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a brother, J.D. McCallum; and a sister, Mozelle Harrell. A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at Presbyterian Church, Ruston. Burial will be in Forest Park cemetery, Shreveport. Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston is in charge of arrangements.

CLARK, DOMONIC ‘YODI'
December 7, 2001

Domonic ‘Yodi' Clark, a student, died Monday of a gunshot wound in Marrero. He was 16. He was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a member of True Love Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his father, Morris Clark Sr.; his mother, Vanessa Brumfield; a brother, Morris Clark Jr.; and a sister, Shantel Davis. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Gertrude Geddes-Willis Funeral Home, 2120 Jackson Ave. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

CAUSEY, EUGENE OLIVER
December 7, 2001

Eugene Oliver Causey, a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, died Thursday at Memorial Medical Center. He was 79. Mr. Causey was born in New Orleans, lived in Chalmette and was a former resident of Prairieville. He served in the Marine Corps in World War II. He was a minister with the Intercontinental Church of God and pastored the church in Hattiesburg, Miss. Survivors include his wife, Lynn Helscher Causey; a daughter, Lisa Velez; and a grandchild. A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette. Visitation will be today beginning at 9 a.m.

CARTER, JOYCE REYNAUD
December 7, 2001

Joyce Reynaud Carter, a homemaker and retired milliner, died Sunday of congestive heart failure at her home. She was 71. Mrs. Carter was born in New Orleans, grew up in St. Charles Parish and lived for the past 41 years in Jefferson Parish. She was a graduate of Kenner High School. For 61 years she was a member of Marine Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Deaconess Board, Women of Wisdom, Pastor Support and the Outreach Ministries. She was a member of Martha Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Grand Amaranth Court, Matron and Patron Council and L'Amatie No. 6. Survivors include her husband, Edward Carter Sr.; two sons, Russell and Edward Carter Jr.; a daughter, Donna Carter-Myles; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Marine Missionary Baptist Church, 3034 Andover St., Jefferson. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. Dennis Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

BROWN, WILLIE J.
December 7, 2001

Willie J. Brown, a construction worker, died Tuesday of lung cancer at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital. He was 65. Mr. Brown was born in Canton, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for the past 40 years. Survivors include two daughters, Carol and Niecy Brown of Mount Bayou, Miss.; a brother, Adam J. Edemon; a sister, Maggie Stutts of Mount Bayou; and four grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Majestic Mortuary, 1833 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Resthaven cemetery.
