Jeannette Haget O'Brien, an accounts clerk for B&G; Crane Service Inc., died Friday of complications from brain surgery at Memorial Medical Center. She was 57. Mrs. O'Brien was born in Guantanamo, Cuba, and lived in New Orleans for the past 35 years. Survivors include her husband, John T. O'Brien III; a daughter, Vanessa Lynn O'Brien; two stepsons, Daniel J. and John T. O'Brien IV; two brothers, Hector and Pierre Haget; two sisters, Cecilia Herrera and Dolores Haget; and two stepgrandchildren. A Mass will be said Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.

WARING, JANE ADAMS
January 27, 2002

Jane Adams Waring, a homemaker, died of cancer Friday at the Mountain Area Hospice in Asheville, N.C. She was 71. Mrs. Waring was born in New York and lived in Metairie for 15 years before moving to Asheville 10 years ago. Survivors include her husband, Robert G. Waring; three sons, Michael John Waring of San Diego, Stephen Francis Waring of Luling and Anthony James Waring of Metairie; two daughters, Suzanne Waring Hoffpaiuer of Metairie and Elizabeth Waring Hughs of Birmingham, Ala.; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Groce Funeral Home in Arden, N.C.

WATERMAN, DAMIAN JOSEPH
January 27, 2002

Damian Joseph Waterman, a service attendant for Alamo Rent A Car, died Friday of injuries suffered in a traffic accident on Engineers Road in Belle Chasse. He was 23. Mr. Waterman was born in Marrero and lived in Terrytown. He attended Worley Middle School in Westwego. He was a member of the United Houma Nations. Survivors include his father, Farren L. Matherne Sr.; his mother, Lynn Waterman Terrebonne; his stepfathers, Ricky Terrebonne Sr. and Michael J. Chaisson; his stepmother, Fay Boudreaux; four brothers, Derek Chaisson, and Shane, Justin and Farren Matherne Jr.; three sisters, Deree Ward, Dannielle Chaisson and Dawn Allemore; and his grandmother, Velma B. Mills. A Mass will be said Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4401 Seventh St., Marrero. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 West Bank Expressway, Marrero. Burial will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor cemetery in Westwego.

BOWERS, JASON JOSEPH
January 27, 2002

Jason Joseph Bowers, a construction worker, died Thursday of suffocation at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington. He was 19. Mr. Bowers was born in Metairie and lived in Mandeville for the past 1 ½ years. He graduated from Living Heritage Academy. He was a member of the Louisiana State University Bengal Diving Club, the Green Acres Diving Club and Country Club, Franco's Athletic Club and Delta Playgrounds. Survivors include his father, Joseph R. Bowers III; his mother, Shirley Simoneaux Bowers; his twin brother, Joseph Lloyd Bowers; two sisters, Rochelle Bowers Pons and Kelley Jo Bowers Perrien; and his grandmother, Hazel G. Simoneaux. A funeral was held Saturday at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home in Metairie. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery.

CLARK, NOLA ROQUEVERT
January 27, 2002

Nola Roquevert Clark, a former receptionist for Pounds Veterinary Hospital, died Friday of sepsis at Kenner Regional Medical Center. She was 74. Ms. Clark was born in New Orleans and lived in Kenner before moving to LaPlace 28 years ago. She attended John McDonogh High School and was a former secretary to the vice president of Delta Petroleum. She was a member of the Metry Veterans Association. Survivors include a brother, Louis C. Roquevert; and a sister, Marie R. Foles. A Mass will be said Monday at 10:30 a.m. at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.

DEDMAN, WILLIAM PALMER
January 27, 2002

William Palmer Dedman, a former executive of Delwall, a division of Corbesco Inc., died Thursday of cancer at St. Anthony's Nursing Home. He was 80. Mr. Dedman was born in Houston and lived in Metairie for the past 29 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Rita Jayne Williams Dedman; two daughters, Marsha Dedman Schmerbeck and Laura Dedman Veade; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2929 Metairie Road, Metairie. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.

MITTEN, LONIE MAE
December 16, 2001

Lonie Mae Mitten, a homemaker, died Friday of pneumonia at Slidell Memorial Hospital. She was 73. Mrs. Mitten was born in Simmesport and lived in New Orleans for the past 56 years. Survivors include a daughter, Bobbie Deshotel of Pride; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Schoen Funeral Home, 3808 Pontchartrain Drive, Slidell. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens in Chalmette.

CLARK, CAROLYN HOWIE

Carolyn Howie Clark, a secretary, died Friday of cancer at her home. She was 66. Mrs. Clark was born in Mount Pleasant, Ark., and lived in Kenner for 15 years before moving to Pumpkin Center more than 10 years ago. Survivors include her husband, Gerald L. Clark; two daughters, Sandra C. Roberts of Houston and Jacquese C. Ricks of Pumpkin Center; a brother, Edward Howie of Starts; and four grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at Harry McNeely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond and Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

December 16, 2001

Anthony Hernandez, a U.S. Customs inspector, died Thursday of cancer at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 72. Mr. Hernandez was born in Cienfuego, Cuba, and lived in Metairie. Survivors include his wife, Elsa Hernandez; a daughter, Karen Schindler of New Orleans; a stepson, James Wong of Oklahoma City; a brother, Angelo Hernandez of New York; two sisters, Ana Perez of Los Angeles and Raida Flynn of Miami; and four grandchildren. A Mass will be said Monday at 1 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in All Saints Mausoleum.

FIELDS, ADDIE LEE STEWART
January 20, 2002

Addie Lee Stewart Fields, a homemaker, died Tuesday at home. She was 86. Mrs. Fields was born in Hinds County, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for the past 37 years. She was a former seamstress. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Harmony Chapter No. 16 and the Philips Memorial Methodist Church choir. Survivors include a daughter, Catherine English; two stepsons, Isaac and Ernest Fields; a brother, Fred Stewart; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Philips Memorial Methodist Church, 3226 Burdette St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. Louisiana Undertaking Co. is in charge of arrangements.

FREDERICK, STEVEN
January 27, 2002

Steven Frederick, a retired supervisor for Gallagher/Maloney Moving and Storage, died Monday at Touro Infirmary. He was 74. Mr. Frederick was born in Paincourtville and lived in New Orleans for the past 63 years. Survivors include his wife, Louise E. Frederick; two sons, Steven and Claudell Frederick; three daughters, Helless Randle, Joanne Anderson and Elaine Frederick of Atlanta; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Estelle J. Wilson Funeral Home Inc., 2715 Danneel St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Park and Mausoleum. Williams and Southall Funeral Home of Napoleonville is in charge of arrangements.

POISSENOT, HELEN GLASS
January 27, 2002

Helen Glass Poissenot, a homemaker, died Monday at Big Bend Regional Medical Center in Alpine, Texas. She was 81. Mrs. Poissenot was born in Memphis, Tenn., and lived in New Orleans before moving to Picayune, Miss., 20 years ago. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Picayune and a former member of Gentilly and St. Andrew's Methodist churches in New Orleans. She was a former president of the New Orleans chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police; a former national treasurer of the Fraternal Order of Police; and a member of the Auxiliary Pistol Team, the Donna Villa Gardeners and the Lively Lakers. She was a former social director of the Hideaway Lake community in Picayune and queen of the Hideaway Lake Mardi Gras, and she was named Hideaway Lake Citizen of the Year. Survivors include a son, Lloyd J. Poissenot Jr.; and a grandchild. A graveside service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Garden of Memories, 4800 Airline Drive, Metairie. L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

DEWITT, HAZEL JAGOT
January 27, 2002

Hazel Jagot Dewitt, a retired seamstress, died Monday at Pontchartrain Health Care Center. She was 94. Ms. Dewitt was born in New Orleans and lived in Mandeville for the past 22 years. She was a member of the Abita Springs Garden Club and Senior Citizens Association. Survivors include two nieces. A graveside service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Abita Springs cemetery. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

BLACKWELL, BETTY JO ANNE
December 09, 2001

Betty Jo Anne Blackwell, a manager for Dollar General Stores, died Friday of a stroke at Northshore Regional Medical Center. She was 53. Mrs. Blackwell was born in Poplarville, Miss., and lived in Carriere, Miss. Survivors include her husband, Larry Blackwell; a son, Stephen Trotter of New Orleans; two daughters, Anita Trotter of Cordova, Tenn., and Laracia Blackwell of McNeill, Miss.; two brothers, Bobby Archer of Lafayette and James Archer of McNeill; and a sister, Brenda Kennedy of Picayune, Miss. A funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home in Picayune. Burial will be in McNeill cemetery.
