Irma Dolores Douglas, 93, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on July 3, 2017.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Daniel Douglas and wife Cindy of Merryville, LA; daughter, Linda Wiley and husband Stephen of Merryville, LA; and brother, Wacy Stamps of Merryville, LA; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Frank Douglas; parents, Isaac and Doshia Stamps; son, Steve Douglas; daughter, Sharon Douglas Bass; grandson, David Bass; sisters; Grace Neely, Marie Nash; and brother, Tracy Stamps.

Visitation and service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 9:00AM-11:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Cooper cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Officiating the service will be Richard Gasser and Stacey Seidlitz.

Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

Ben "Sarge" Loftin

Ben Loftin, 62, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on June 30, 2017.

Ben “Sarge”, went to be with his Lord and Savior three days prior to his 63rd birthday. Ben was a loving husband, grandfather, father, son, grandson, and brother. He was employed by Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder for many years.

Ben enjoyed making people laugh. He enjoyed watching LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints football, the WWE, and his favorite TV channel, Grit. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife, babies, children, family and friends. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Special thanks to Heart of Hospice of Lake Charles.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Allie Mae Loftin of Merryville, LA; sons, Philip Douglas Lane and wife Stephanie of Salem, VA, Jeremy Gene Franks and fiancée Kimberly Gill of Merryville, LA, Travis Beavers of Medora, IN and Brock Miller and wife Jennifer of Fields, LA; daughters, Amanda Gilmore of Gatesville, Texas and Mary Ann Crystal of DeRidder, LA; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and his furry babies: Buttons, Romeo, Junior, Sassy, Coco and Sweetie.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Perry Crawford and Gustine Myles Crysel; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce Ann and Robert Sr. Koch and his furry grandson Russell Franks.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be at 2:00PM on Friday, July 7, 2017, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Old Lewis cemetery on Ikes Rd in DeRidder, LA. Officiating the service will be Brother Jeremy Franks.

Mary Patricia Vaughn

Mary Patricia Vaughn, 91, of Hitchcock, TX, passed from this life on Thursday, June 29, 2017.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Greg Vaughn and wife Eva of Moss Bluff, LA; daughters, Karen Darden and husband Hank of Hitchcock, TX and Sherry Dickerson of Moss Bluff, LA; brothers, Jim Norris of Georgetown, TX, Bill Norris of Bullard, TX and Bob Norris of Paris, TX, twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and six great- great grandchildren.

Visitation and service will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 from 11:00AM- 1:00PM until the time of service at l:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Burial will be held in Magnolia cemetery in Ragley, LA.

S T Self

S T Self, 82, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on June 29, 2017.

S T was born on July 9, 1934 in the Anacoco, LA Community. He was a graduate of Hornbeck High School. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern Louisiana Institute and went on to earn his Master’s degree from Louisiana State University. He retired with the LSU Extension Service after 32 years as the 4-H Club Agent and County Agent in Beauregard Parish. Mr. Self was a member of the First Baptist Church in DeRidder, a 50 year member of the Toro Masonic Lodge 253 of Hornbeck, Louisiana, and a Veteran of the United States Army.

ST was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Mangum Self and his parents, George and Tera Addison Self of Hornbeck, LA.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Longoria and husband Roger of DeRidder, LA; his son, Steve and wife Stacey of Lafayette, LA; five grandchildren: Stevi Bryant and husband Devin of DeRidder, LA, Shane Longoria and wife Kelly of Wisner, LA, Scott, Stephanie and Kelli Self of Lafayette, LA; two great grandchildren: Houston and Roman Bryant of DeRidder, LA; and a host of family, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will continue on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA starting at 12:00 noon and continuing until the time of service at 2:00PM. Reverend Lindsey Burns will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder, LA.

"Cotton" Dwain Joseph LeBleu

“Cotton” Dwain Joseph LeBleu, 61, of DeRidder, LA, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on June 26, 2017 after losing his courageous battle to cancer. Cotton was a retired Colonel from the United States Army after 30 years of service to his country. He was the Port Commander for the U.S. Forces in Kuwait in 2004-2005. He was an Instructor at the Leader Training Program at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk for the last 15 years. During his time of service, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal, and numerous other medals and honors. Cotton enjoyed serving his country, as well as bass fishing, golfing, and watching the LSU Tigers. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of DeRidder. Cotton was a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His memory will forever be cherished in our hearts and he will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sherry Manuel LeBleu; sons, Corey LeBleu and wife Katalin of Kingwood, TX, Charles “Marty” Reed, Jr. of DeRidder, LA, Stephen Reed and fiancée Mary Kathryn Belvin of Plano, TX; daughter, Stephanie LeBleu and fiancé Jacob Welch of Austin, TX; mother, Gloria LeBleu of Denham Springs, LA; brother, Clarence “Nick” E. LeBleu of Leesburg, GA; sisters, Deborah L. Devall of Denham Springs, LA, and Inga L. Klein and husband Philip of Nederland, TX; two grandchildren, Zoltan “Zoli” LeBleu and Sofie LeBleu; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Joseph LeBleu.

Visitation and service will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017. Visitation will be from 9:00AM-11:00AM at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. The graveside service will be at 12:00 noon at the Central Louisiana Veterans cemetery in Leesville, LA. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in memory of Cotton to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Hospital for Children.

James Howard McDaniel

James Howard McDaniel, 84, of Merryville, LA; born on May 3, 1933 in Homer, Ohio; passed from this life on June 21, 2017.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, David McDaniel of DeRidder, LA and Thomas McDaniel of Merryville, LA; daughters, Kay Spokes of Burlington, NC, Barbara Unis and Robbie of DeRidder, LA, and Fran McDaniel of Lake Charles, LA; brother, Robert McDaniel and Leona of Johnstown, OH; sister, Betty Zink and James of Gambier, OH; sister-in-law, Lena Mae Robberson of Merryville, LA; nine grandchildren: Angelina Schwenke (Dan) of Portland, OR, Harry Spokes (Shawna) of Larkspur, CO, Amanda Parsley (Jake) of Liberty, NC, Courtney Wolf of Chesapeake, VA, Lauren McDaniel of DeRidder, LA, Joshua McDaniel (Amanda) of Choudrant, LA, Kristen McDaniel of Merryville, LA, Jay Unis (Lauren) of Alpharetta, GA, and Jill Bryson (Deane) of Baton Rouge, LA; ten great-grandchildren: Ashley and Brooke Spokes, Olivia, Sophia, Emily, and Haley Parsley, Jonah and Gavin Wolf, Davis McDaniel, and Jack Unis; special daughter-in-law, Nina McDaniel; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Burks McDaniel; his parents, George and Goldie McDaniel; and brother, Lee McDaniel.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 5:00-9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. Service will be Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 3:00 PM at The River Church in Merryville, LA. Brother Jason Fortenberry will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mike McDaniel, Mike Lanier, Robert Lanier, Tommy Robberson, Kolt McDaniel and Tommy Ackerman. Burial will follow at Meadows cemetery in Merryville, LA.

Ora Lee Allen

Ora Lee Allen, 85, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Visitation and service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 10AM – 11:00AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Merryville Community cemetery in Merryville, LA.

Annie Mary Moore, 92, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on June 17, 2017.

Annie was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of DeRidder, LA. She enjoyed painting and always had an open door for guests at her home.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Edmond Ray Moore and Sue of DeRidder, LA, Eric Moore and Charlotte of Rosharon, TX; daughters, Patricia Waldrip and Larry and Nina Peterson and Jerry, all of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Sylvia Brown of DeRidder, LA, Pauline Phillips of Point Blank TX; ten grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, twenty-three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Henry Mitchell Calhoun and Nina Eunice Cooley Calhoun; six brothers: William, Joseph, James, Milton, Milford and Jackie Calhoun; and two grandchildren: Mark Moore and Jonathan Vela.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, from 6:00-9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Brother Zale Lewis and Brother Jeff Phillips will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Morris Peterson, Chris Chesson, Dan Peterson, Caleb Long, Jody Waldrip and Edwin Spivey. Burial will follow at Whitaker cemetery in DeRidder, LA.

Garland Douglas Brister
