Carson Kyle Diron
February 22, 2016 - March 3, 2016
Carson Kyle Diron, 10 days old, of Sugartown, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Woman’s Hospital NICU in Baton Rouge, LA.

Just 10 days after coming into the world, Carson Kyle Diron passed away peacefully in his mother’s arms at the Woman’s Hospital NICU in Baton Rouge, LA. During that fleeting time, he touched many lives and was loved so much by his family.

Born four weeks early and weighing only 5 lbs., 15oz., Carson was still able to grip his mother’s finger and respond to his father’s touch during his brief stay on earth. He had a head full of brown hair and Mom’s and Dad’s looks. He was born at 4:08 p.m. on February 22, 2016 and drifted off to be with Jesus at 3:20 p.m. March 3, 2016.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother and father, Kayla Foster and Jerry Diron Sr. of Sugartown, LA; his brother, Jerry Diron Jr. of DeRidder, LA, Austin, Ayden and Anthony Selgrath of Sugartown, LA, twins, Kolton and Mason Diron of Sugartown, LA; sister, Angel Diron of DeRidder, LA; maternal grandparents, Jesse and Teresa McDonald McMillian of Sugartown, LA; paternal grandparents, Jerry Wayne and Bridget Diron of DeRidder, LA; maternal great grandparents, Lawrence and Lennis Lacy of DeRidder, LA; uncles, Dustin Foster of Sugartown, LA, Terry and Amber Diron and Garrick Diron of DeRidder, LA; his aunt, Nikole and Brian Hatfield of Aurora, CO; paternal great uncles, Gary Diron of DeRidder, LA, Paul and Adele Diron of DeRidder, LA, Jody Stephens of Tacoma, WA; maternal great uncle, Perry McDonald of Sugartown, LA; ; paternal great aunt, Kim Stephens of DeRidder, LA; maternal great aunt, Lesa Bertoni and many cousins. Carson was preceded in death by his maternal great grandpa, William “Bill” McDonald, paternal great grandparents, JC and Marie Diron and Tommy and Charlene Stephens.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 9:00am until 1:00pm with service beginning at 1:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA.

Burial will follow at the New Camp Ground cemetery in Sugartown, LA. Rev. Samuel Ashworth will officiate.

The family would like to thank the Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge and staff for their effort and dedication.

Amber Borel
November 5, 1987 - January 30, 2016
Amber Lynn Chancey Borel, 28, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, January 30, 2016 in Lake Charles, LA. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Rylan Joseph Borel of Dry Creek, LA; father & step-mother, Joe Daniel Chancey, Jr. & wife Tammie of Dallas, TX; mother & step-father, Tammy Wilber & husband Shane of Dry Creek, LA; brothers, Shawn Wilber of Dry Creek, LA, Zack Wilber of Dry Creek, LA; sisters, Jocelyn Pratt of Dallas, TX and Lindsey Ingle & husband Anderson of Merryville, LA, nephew, Corbyn Ingle of Merryville, LA; grandparents, Agnes Young of Dry Creek, LA and Joe & Linda Chancey of Freeport, FL; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Joseph Borel, PawPaw, M.A. Young; uncle, Pierre Benoit.

Amber was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church. She was a 2006 East Beauregard High School Graduate and currently a Junior at McNeese State University. Her life revolved around her son, Rylan and she could light up the room with her smile. Her smile and laughter will be sorely missed. To know her was to love her. Our loss is Heavens gain!

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm and again on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 from 9:00am until time of service at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Dry Creek, LA. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 11:00am at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Dry Creek, LA. Burial will follow at Rosepine cemetery in Rosepine, LA. Rev. Charlie Bailey will officiate.

Gary Slaydon
December 31, 1953 - January 30, 2016
Gary Andrew Slaydon was born December 31, 1953, to Ray and Marie Martin Slaydon in DeRidder, La. He departed from this life on January 30, 2016 at MD Anderson in Houston, TX after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gary graduated from DeRidder High School in 1972 and met and married the love of his life, Pamela, in 1975. He worked in labor relations with the Laborers International Union overseeing various regions in the southern United States until he retired in 2008.

Gary's passion was his family, friends and church. He played saxophone and sang in a men's quartet for many years. He was a Godly man of integrity whose greatest purpose was leading his family in the ways of the Lord and telling others about God. His heart was in fellowship, the POA 60+ ministry, his family, friends and his horses.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, his daughter Brandi and husband, Brian Nichols, daughter Ashleigh and husband, Brad Allison, five grandchildren, his sister Sue (Greg) Goins and twin brother, Larry (Robin) Slaydon.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ray Slaydon, his mother, Marie Martin Slaydon and his brother, Ricky Slaydon.

Funeral services will be held at the Pentecostals of Alexandria on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at the Pentecostals of Alexandria from 4 - 8 p.m. And on Wednesday from 9 - 11 a.m. Interment will follow service and be at Camp Eight Pentecostal Church cemetery in Boyce, LA.

Rev. Anthony Mangun, Rev. George Lee Glass, Rev. V. Arlon Guidroz, and Rev. Terry Shock will officiate.

Sharon Lewing
August 13, 1971 - January 29, 2016
Sharon Ann Lewing, 44, of Vinton, LA, passed from this life on Friday, January 29, 2016 in Sulphur, LA. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Danny Lewing; son, Dakota Lee Woodard and wife Ashley; mother, Retta Woodard; sisters, Sheila Woodard and Jessica Woodard; brother, Herman “Bubba” Woodard and wife Debbie; grandchild, Jadelyn Lea Woodard; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and lots of friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Ottis Woodard.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 1, 2016 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 11:00am at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cypress cemetery in DeRidder, La. Rev. Dalton Isbell will officiate.

Mildred McDonald
September 16, 1933 - January 7, 2015
Mildred (Tincy) Myers Wilkins McDonald, 81, of Merryville, LA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 7, 2015. Mildred was a strong and wonderful mother and her love for her grand and great grandchildren knew no bounds. Her daughters expressed their love by this motto: “Her love always made things possible.” Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debra Wilkins Cole and husband Sammy of DeRidder, LA, and Patti Wilkins Hennigan and husband Joe of Merryville, LA; grandsons, Greg Beard and wife Kiley of Merryville, LA, Chuckie Beard and wife Sara of Merryville, LA; Derek Richardson and wife Shannon of Lake Charles, LA, Jamie Richardson and wife Amie of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Jackie Myers Womack of Merryville, LA, and Wanda Myers Keel of Deridder, LA; great grandchildren, Landon, Brant, Haydn, Abbie, Carson, Jenna, Emily, Clark, Ian and Liam. She is preceded in death by the father of her children, L.D. Wilkins; her husband of 25 years, Gerald McDonald; son, Ronnie Wilkins; sister, Lou Edna (Tubbie) Thompson; brothers, Darnell (D.T.) and Robert (Bob) Myers; parents, Tinky and Amy Myers.

Special heartfelt thoughts go out to the Larry and Carolyn Karr family who have always played a major part in her life. Also, our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful Nurses, CNA’s and staff at the Merryville Rehabilitation Center. Your kindness and care of our mother was and is so deeply appreciated. It takes special and caring people to do the things you do.

March 30, 1935 - January 4, 2015

Jimmie Lee Taylor, 79, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, January 4, 2015.
He is survived by his son, Dwight Taylor; daughter, Shannon Latham; and niece, Diane Johnson.

James O'Rear
April 25, 1943 - January 3, 2015
James O’Rear, 71, of Starks, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, January 3, 2015 in Lake Charles, LA. Those left to cherish his memory are his sister Bessie Rigmaiden of Sugartown, LA; soul mate, Jennifer Bennett of Starks, LA; 11 step children; 26 granchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Clark, brothers, and sister.

Ross Pickering
December 20, 1945 - December 30, 2014
Ross Earl Pickering, 69, of Singer, LA, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at his home. Mr. Pickering was a member of Hargrove Bible Baptist Church. He was a foster parent for 14 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, shrimping, deer hunting and farming. He truly loved life and his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Verna; sons, Richard Pickering and wife Laura, and Billy Pickering and wife Alisha; daughters, Beverly Schultz and husband Mark, and Katelyn Pickering all of Singer, LA; brothers, Rev. Rayburn Pickering and wife Nancy of Jasper, TX, Elton Pickering and wife Kathy of Singer, LA, and Lee Pickering and wife Linda of Lake Charles, LA; sisters, Diane Clifton and husband Cliff of Leesville, LA, Patricia Gore of Singer, LA, and Mary Pierce and husband Sam of DeQuincy, LA; 13 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Eloise Pickering.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2015 at Hargrove Bible Baptist Church in DeQuincy, LA beginning at 4:00pm until time of Funeral service on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Newlin cemetery in Singer, LA. Rev. Paul Nugent, Rev. Royce Bailey and Rev. Harry Methvin will officiate.
