Susie A. Bertrand, 67, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in DeRidder. Father Jude will officiate.

Interment will follow at Hopewell cemetery in Dry Creek, Louisiana

Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Mason Pierre Bertrand of DeRidder, Louisiana; one son, Arthur Lowell Alexander Jr., one daughter, Teresa Ann Webb; one step-daughter, Cammie Sue Goodeaux; four step-sons, Kent, Wendell, Mike and Patrick Bertrand.

Two sisters, Jarvie Jetel Bazzel and Grace Delores Mizzle, both of South Carolina and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Bertrand is preceded in death by her parents, Annie Johnson Goldman and Woodrow Goldman; sister, Gladys Marie Strickland and two brothers, Joseph Phillip Goldman and James Woodrow Goldman.

Arnie Tyson
November 23, 1938 - April 11, 2012

Arnie Tyson, 73, of Singer, Louisiana passed from this life on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at his home.

Arnie was a hard worker and enjoyed gardening.

He had a big heart and was devoted to his family.

He adored his stepchildren and grandchildren.

Arnie helped anyone he could.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Loretta Charnell Perkins Tyson; stepchildren, Bryant Perkins, Latessa Beaty and Jakira Beaty, all of Singer, Louisiana; brothers, R.L. Tyson and wife Hazel and Jason Tyson, all of DeRidder, Louisiana; grandchildren, Parys Anderson and Grayson Beaty and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 2:00pm to 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Home in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Funeral services wil be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 11:00am also at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Newlin cemetery in Singer, Louisiana.

Donnie Ray Samuel Sr.
December 13, 1955 - April 5, 2012

Donnie Ray Samuel Sr., 56, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed from this life on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at his home.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lee Gertha Samuel of DeRidder; sons, Mitchell Ray Samuel and wife Karen of Belgrade, Texas and Donnie Ray Samuel Jr. of Leesville, Louisiana; daughters, Kimberly Samuel of Houston, Texas, Laniecey Mitchell of Cottonport, Louisiana and Angelina Samuel of Orange, Texas; brother, Lester Samuel Jr. and wife of Belgrade, Texas; sisters, Juanita Jones of Bon Weir, Texas, Lisa Samuel of Maryland, Molly Williams and husband Nathaniel of Merryville, Louisiana, Linda Jean of Belgrade, Texas, Nora Lee of Belgrade, Texas and Misty of Bon Weir, Texas.

He is survived by seven grandchildren.

Mr. Samuel was preceded in death by his mother, Adeline Samuel and brother, Bobby Samuel.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 from 6:00pm till 8:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11:00am at Bon Weir Church of God in Christ in Bon Weir, Texas.

Burial will follow at Belgrade cemetery in Bon Weir, Texas.

Hoy Scott

November 30, 1922 - April 6, 2012

Hoy Scott, 89, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed from this life on April 6, 2012 in Rosepine.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lela M. Scott; sons, Zach Scott and wife Illma of DeRidder, Louisiana; Randell Scott and wife Melonie also of DeRidder and Arthur Scott of New Orleans, Louisiana; daughters, Mary Whitman of DeRidder, Louisiana; Patricia Wallace and Angie McNeely and husband Vicky all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Dorsey Madison and husband Larry of Suffolk, Virginia.

He is survived by sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Scott; brothers, Tosca Scott, Homer Scott, Central Scott and Earl Scott; sisters, Ella Mae Scott Levias, Melouise Scott Levias and Tella Scott Levias.

Mr. Scott worked for Boise since 1969 and retired in 1985.
Visitation will be held at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana on Friday, April 13, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11:00am at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Old Cypress cemetery in Rosepine, Louisiana.

Arthur Judkins will officiate.

Nellie Mace
January 22, 1938 - April 6, 2012
Nellie Mace, 74, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed from this life on Friday, April 6, 2012.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debra Williamson and husband Randy of Beaumont, Texas; Jeanie Williams and husband James of Willis, Texas; and Becky Loftin and husband John of Deridder, Louisiana; sisters, Mary Jo Hulsey of DeSoto, Texas and Cathy Wright of Columbus, Georgia; grandchildren, Brian, Amanda, Nehemiah, Janet, Jessica and Danielle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Howard Mace.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2012 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 10:00am at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana with burial following at Newton cemetery in Newton, Texas.

Helen Ruth Mayo Martin
December 20, 1919 - April 5, 2012

Helen Ruth Mayo Martin, 92, of DeRidder, Louisiana, passed from this life on Thursday, April 5, 2012 in Rosepine, LA.

Mrs. Martin is survived by two daughters, Barbara Young and husband Dale of Merryville, LA and Betty McCollough of Deridder, LA; grandchildren, Tammy Stark of Orange, TX; Dana Moore of DeRidder, LA; Karen Hebert of DeRidder, LA; and Phillip McCollough of Sulphur, LA and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Martin was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was preceded in death by great-grandsons, Scott Moore and Nick Moore.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 6, 2012 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11:00am also at the funeral home.

Rev. George Lee Glass will officiate.

Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder, LA.

Billie Jean "Ricky" Richards

Billie Jean "Ricky" Richards, 58, of Hooks, Texas, passed from this life in Merryville, Louisiana.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jeremy Richards and wife Jolie Hebert of Merryville, Louisiana; brother, David Colon of New Orleans, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Debra Richards of Maydale, Texas; grandchildren, Evelyn and Sylvia Richards of Merrryville, Louisiana; nieces, Tami Foukes of Chatanooga, Tennessee and Jessica Richards of Austin, Texas and nephew, Hank Richards of Austin, Texas.

Henrence Neil McKay
October 4, 1964 - March 27, 2012

Henrence Neil McKay passed from this life on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at his home in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Those left to cherish his memory are brother, Carl McKay of Effie, Louisiana; sister, Felisha Anderson and husband Stuart of DeRidder, Louisiana; loving companion, Amber Finkle , also of DeRidder and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruby McKay; brothers, Kerry McKay and Phil Ray McKay and sister, Colleen McKay.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana from 5:00pm til 8:00pm.

Graveside services will be held Friday, March 30, 2012 at 11:00am at Oak Grove cemetery in Effie, Louisiana.

Rev. Gilbert Reese will officiate.

Henry Owen "Sottie" Harvey
October 7, 1934 - March 17, 2012

Henry Owens “Sottie” Harvey, 77, of Evans, Louisiana passed from this life on Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Sottie was born on October 7, 1934, to Russell and Gertrude Owens Harvey in DeRidder, Louisiana.

He grew up in the Knight Community, the fifth of six children. He was a graduate of Evans High School with a countless number of friends.

He was drafted into the Army of the United States with the 4th Armored Division, Fort Hood, Texas, April 25, 1957.

Sottie married Wesley Ann LaFleur on July 16, 1957.

He continued serving in the Army until April 14, 1959. He was called back to active duty on October 26, of 1961 and was Honorably Discharged on May 31, 1963.

Sottie drove a school bus for 35 years hauling children to and from Evans High School. Even if the bus was broke down or there were storms or floods, he always made sure you had a ride to school.

Sottie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wesley Ann “Papoose” Harvey of Evans, Louisiana; sons, John Russell “Kenny” Harvey, James Patrick Harvey and wife Nikki and Michael Owens Harvey and wife Rocky all of Evans, Louisiana; daughter, Leslie Ann Choat and husband Kevin of Rosepine, Louisiana; brother, John Harvey and wife Patricia and sister-in-law, Joyce Harvey, all of Evans, Louisiana; grandchildren, Mavrick Cole Harvey Sr., Chase Breaux Harvey, Elizabeth Marie Froemming, James Russell Froemming, Katie Nichole Harvey and Harlie Ann Harvey; great grandchild, Mavrick Cole Harvey Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Gertrude Harvey; brothers, Russell Harvey Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Daniel Harvey of Evans, Louisiana; sisters, Mammie Loftin and Melonee Allardyce also of Evans.

Sottie’s favorite quote was “NEVER SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF”. Everyone always asked, “What did Sottie think of that?”, we can only wonder what Sottie would think of this.

His words would be, “I’m gonna miss ya but, “son, this ain’t no hill for a stepper”.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 20, 2012 beginning at 5:00pm until time of service on Wednesday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Knight Community, Louisiana.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Knight Community at 11:00am.

Burial will follow at Hinson cemetery in Knight Community.

Bro. Melvin Smith, Bob Allardyce and Bro. Gary Glidewell will officiate.

Wanda Ruth Fish
November 18, 1943 - March 10, 2012

Wanda Ruth Fish, 68, passed from this life on Saturday, March 10, 2012 in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Mrs. Fish was a wonderful cook and a faithful member of Bethel Grove United Pentecostal Church.

Mrs. Fish worked at the Beauregard Parish Health Unit before retiring.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who will be missed by all.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dan Fish of DeRidder, Louisiana; sons, Joe Fish of Corpus Christi, Texas; Raymond Fish and wife Annie of Oakdale, Louisiana and Josh Fish of DeRidder, Louisiana; daughters, Linda Rudy of Oakdale, Louisiana; Nancy Lynn Barron and husband Glen Wayne of Vidor, Texas; sister, Lois Goggins of Arlington, Texas and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Monday, March 12, 2012 from 5:00pm to 11:00pm at Bethel Grove UPC in Merryville, Louisiana.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 10:00 am at Bethel Grove UPC.

Brother Hoosier will officiate.

Interment will follow at Holly Springs cemetery in Fullerton, Louisiana.
