Allen Algernon Bandy

February 1, 2012 - July 4, 2012

Funeral services for Mr. Allen A. Bandy, age 90, will be held Monday, July 9, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Springhill, with Rev. Jake Vandenberg officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Branch Cemetery, Taylor, AR under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Family will receive friends beginning Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Mr. Bandy was born February 1, 1922 in Walker Creek, AR to Effram Hamp and Ethel Bland Bandy and passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012 in Shreveport, LA. He was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of Walnut Road Baptist Church and a WW II US Army veteran. Mr. Bandy was also a retired Millwright Foreman for International Paper Company with 36 years of service.

He is survived by daughters, Terry B. McLain and husband, Gary of Taylor, AR, Joanna Strother of Springhill, LA; son, Ronald D. Bandy of Springhill, LA; sister, Nadnola B. Cobb of Bradenton, FL; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.

Mr. Bandy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva Christia Bandy; son, Charles Louis Slappy and two brothers, Hamp and Franklin.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Ellen, Donnaban Hunter, Bill Carter, Jimmy Butler, Geff Farper and Greg Schildroth.

Arlene Watson Vaughan

June 18, 1920 - August 22, 2009

Springhill, Louisiana - Graveside services for Arlene Watson Vaughan will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009, 10:00 AM, at Old Town Cemetery in Haynesville, LA with Bro Jesse Dickison officiating. Services will be under the direction of Bailey Mortuary of Haynesville.

Mrs. Vaughan lived in Springhill, LA most of her life and worked as a nurse at several facilities around the Springhill area. She was married to C.J. (Red) Vaughan for 52 years. She was born June 18, 1920 to Richard Dee and Leona Loftin Watson in Burrfairy, LA.

Preceding her in death was her parents and her husband.

Mrs. Vaughan is survived by two sons: Rudy Vaughan & wife, Linda of Sugarland, TX and Chesley Vaughan & wife Candis of Bakersfield, CA; one grandson; two granddaughters; two great grandchildren.

Dorothy Jean Smith Ware

February 20, 1942 - October 15, 2012

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Jean Smith Ware, age 70, will be held Friday, October 19, 2012 at 10:00 AM in Westside Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in Wares Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville, LA.

Visitation will begin Thursday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ware was born February 20, 1942 in Shreveport, LA to Frank and Ethel Marie Dowden Smith and passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 in Homer, LA. She was a native of this area and former resident of Overland, KS. Mrs. Ware was a homemaker and a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church. Her husband being a US Army Veteran, she lived in many areas.

She is survived by her husband, of 50 years, Robert Paul Ware of Emerson, AR; daughter, Cynthia Diane Russell and husband, Clifford of Olathe, KS; sons, Roger W. Ware and wife, Elaine of Overland Park, KS, Robert Glen Ware and wife, Kristin of Shawnee, KS; grandchildren, Travis Walborn, Katie Ware, Demmi Brooks, Heather Walborn, Sarah Ware, Emma Ware, Jack Ware; three great grandchildren, Hailey, Ava, Leah; mother, Ethel Marie Gamble; sisters, Frankie Payne of Gardner, KS, Yvonne King of Atlanta, TX and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ware was preceded in death by her father.

Serving as pallbearers will be Greg King, Richard Ross, Randy Ross, Eric Ware, Justin Ware, Bobby Butler, Timmy McCurry and John McMenemy.

Kelley Ware Garrett
January 4, 1973 - October 23, 2012

Funeral services for Mrs. Kelley Ware Garrett, age 39, will be held Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Haynesville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Chuck Christensen and Rev. Henry Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Old Town Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Garrett was born on January 4, 1973 to Fred and Bette Barkett Ware in Shreveport, LA and passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in Homer, LA following a battle with cancer. She was a member of the Haynesville United Methodist Church, the Cross Bayou Emmaus and Chrysalis Community. Mrs. Garrett was a 1991 graduate of Claiborne Academy, attended LA Tech and graduated from SAU with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She was a school teacher for 15 years, having taught at Haynesville Jr. High, A.E. Phillips Lab School in Ruston, Claiborne Academy and taught AHEC for ten summers. Mrs. Garrett was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority at LA Tech, and Delta Kappa Gamma Teaching Sorority. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Tommy Garrett; daughter, Sydney Garrett; son, Patrick Garrett; parents, Fred and Bette Ware; brothers-in-law, Mark Garrett and wife, Patty of Shreveport, Richie Garrett and wife, Susan of Monroe; godmother, Jan Ballow of Denham Springs, LA; uncles, Sammie Ware and wife, Rita of Haynesville, Mike Barkett and wife, Linda of Brandon, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mark Owens, Kerry Reeder, Alan Tomlinson, John Synco, Dan Ware and Chad Reeder.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made to the Haynesville United Methodist Church or Claiborne Academy.

Cecil Baucum Anglin

June 14, 1920 - February 13, 2012

A celebration of the life of Cecil Baucum Anglin will be held at the Haynesville Unied Methodist Church on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Bro. John Korlaske of Haynesville United Methodist Church and Bro. Troy Grafton of Westside Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville, LA. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Haynesville, LA.

Cecil Baucum Anglin was born on June 14, 1920 in Haynesville, LA to William Perry Baucum and Olive Dawson Baucum. At birth she weighed 1lb. 14oz. and lived in a shoe box at first and took eagle brand condensed milk out of a eye dropper to fatten her up. The Lord called her home to be with Him on February 13, 2012.

She graduated from Haynesville High School in 1937 and went to Mississippi State College for Women where she graduated in 1941 with a degree in Education. After graduation she taught at Cotton Valley Elementary School. After marrying the love of her life, Charlie Lee Anglin, June 1, 1947, she worked as a telephone operator in Haynesville and later devoted herself to being a housewife and mother to their thre sons, Robert, Dawson and William (Bill).

She was a lifetime faithful member of Haynesville United Methodist Church, the Gleaner class where she played the piano and WMU. She loved her family, God, her church and everyone she met. Her love, wit and stories brought joy to her family and those who knew her. Her hobbies were china painting, reading and puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie L. Anglin, her father and mother, W.P. and Olive Baucum, four sisters, Olivia Lichty, Floy Yeldell, Hazel Geis, and Marie Scott and two brothers, William P. Baucum, Jr. (Sonny Boy) and John B. Baucum.

She survived is survived by her three sons, Robert and wife, Donna of Lake Claiborne, LA, Dawson and wife, Wanda of Gibsland, La, Bill and wife, Jerri Sue of Gulf Shores, AL; sister, Betty Jean Jackson of Monroe, LA; nine grandchildren, Chris Anglin and wife, Charity, Allison Dryden and husband, Chad, Mark Anglin, Stacie Caston and husband, Matt, Kris Barney and husband, Jeff, Marlin Anglin, Andy Anglin and wife, Ana, Eric Anglin and Nolan Anglin; seven great grandchildren, Auston and Jackson Anglin, Hannah Dryden, Dylan Levi Caston, Tanner and Emma Barney and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Mr. Ann Walker for her devoted loving care and friendship to Mama and the family.

Honoring her as pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris Anglin, Mark Anglin, Eric Anglin, Nolan Anglin and nephews, Charles Wayne Price and Glynn Osment.

Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Marlin Anglin and Andy Anglin.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Clint Butler for his loving care and attention, the staff of Homer Memorial Hospital, Willow Ridge Nursing Home and Regional Hospice.

In lieu of flowers a memorial may be given in her honor to Haynesville United Methodist Church, Westside Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.

Raye Holman Shaver
December 15, 1918 - December 18, 2012

Funeral services for Mrs. Raye Holman Shaver, age 94, will be held Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 2:00 PM in Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Marino officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery, Plain Dealing, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Visitation will begin Wednesday at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Shaver was born December 15, 1918 to Jim and Mary Lou Gaynor Holman in Springhill, LA and passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in Bossier City, LA. She was a lifelong resident of this area, a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church and a homemaker. Mrs. Shaver was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters, Patty Shaver Ponder and husband, Jim of Bossier City, LA, Ruth Shaver Phillips and Jane Shaver, both of Knoxville, TN; special “adopted” daughter, Susan Rogers-Garcia of Hempstead, TX; five grandchildren, Gayla Malone Wilson and husband, Jerry, Brett Malone, Lance Malone, Kimberly Kimball and husband, Tray, Amy Barnett; nine great grandchildren, Sam, Jacob, Austin, Zach, Landry, Will, Ben, Katherine, Josh; sister, Rosalie Martin of Shreveport, LA and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shaver was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William E. “Penn” Shaver and daughter, Mary Ann Malone.

Serving as pallbearers will be Elvin Ervin, Tony Jenkins, Al Lambka, Kenneth Martin, Randall Martin and Steve Martin. Honorary pallbearer will be Joe Baxter Covington.
