PEARL N. HOWZE
HOLDEN - Pearl N. Howze, 93, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Summit Hospital in Baton Rouge.
A native of Livingston and resident of Holden, she was a homemaker and a member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Holden.
Survivors include her son, Raymond Willis Howze; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Howze.
Visitation will be today at Seale Funeral Home, Livingston, from noon until the funeral at 2 p.m. The Rev. Richard Wallace will conduct the service, and burial will be in Howze Cemetery, Holden.
ANTHONY PAUL FREIDMAN
ALBANY - Anthony Paul Freidman, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at his home.
A native and resident of Albany, he was a school bus operator and a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Vassil Freidman, Albany; two sons, Julius and John C. Freidman, Albany; two sisters, Theresa Ivanyisky and Julia Guyban, Denham Springs; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John Freidman; and five sisters, Emma, Mary, Helen, Margaret and Elizabeth.
The Rev. Leo Guillot conducted the funeral Saturday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Margaret's Catholic Church Cemetery.
Geisler Funeral Home, Hammond, was in charge.
ALICE MORRIS
KENTWOOD - Alice Morris, 77, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond.
A native of Monroe, she was a resident of Kentwood.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy and Lionell Morris, Kentwood; four daughters, Barbara Harold and Hilda Harrod, Greatneck, N.Y., Abbie Stewart, Kentwood, and Betty Morris, Danbury, Conn.; two sisters, Ellie Brumfield, Greatneck, N.Y., and Hilda Hughes, Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Morris; and son Joseph Morris.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Richardson Funeral Home, Amite. The Rev. Lee Allen Pounds will conduct the funeral Monday at 11 a.m. at Sweethome Baptist Church, Kentwood. Burial will be in Sweethome Cemetery, Kentwood.
SALVATORE ANTHONY PERISE
TICKFAW - Salvatore Anthony "Sam" Perise, 54, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at North Oaks Medical Center.
A native of Independence and resident of Tickfaw, he was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette D. Perise, Tickfaw; two sons, Anthony Perise, Tickfaw, and Joseph DiBenedetto, Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Joann Harper and Amanda Ridgel, Tickfaw; brother, Joseph Perise, Tickfaw; three sisters, Gilorma Arwood, Big Stoney Gap, Va., Sadie Saragusa, Independence, and Mary Jane Jimahosa, Marrero; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Anthony and Amanda Strahan Perise.
Visitation will be from 6 until 10 tonight with a 7:30 p.m. vigil prayer service at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, and Monday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 10. The Dominican Fathers will conduct the service, and burial will be in Colonial Cemetery.
Matthew James Alfonso
Matthew James Alfonso, 56 days old of Hammond, LA, died Sunday, January 31, 2010, in North Oaks Medical Center.
He was born on Monday, December 7, 2009,
Surviving are parents, Robert Alfonso and Jamie Hinds Alfonso; sister, Jena Elizabeth Alfonso; brothers, Robert Alfonso Jr. and Nicholas Alfonso; maternal grandmother, Deborah P. O'Reilly; maternal grandfather, Leonard J. Hinds; maternal step-grandfather, John D. O'Reilly III; paternal grandmother, Rose Marie Alfonso; 2 great-grandmothers, Pearl G. Peterson and Myrtle L. Hinds; 3 aunts, Sharon Alfonso Manino Stephanie Hinds McIntyre and Dara Hinds LeBlanc ; also survived by numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by grandfather, Louis D. Alfonso; great-grandparents, James B. Peterson; Charles Hinds, A.V. Sirone, Leatrice Sirone, Louis V. Alfonso and Mamie Dicorte Alfonso.
Friends will be received Friday, February 5, 2010, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, from 9:00a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Rueben Wayne Rogers
A resident of Amite, died at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2010 in Amite. He was born August 23, 1985 in Hammond and was 24 years old. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010. Services conducted by Rev. Mitch Williams. interment Natalbany Cemetery, Independence. He is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Ginger Rogers, Amite; sister, Amanda Bankston and her husband, Chad, Loranger; niece, Brianna Bankston; grandparents, Charles and Jennie Rogers, Amite and Gloria and Ken Dyer, Columbus, MS; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeremy Rogers; nephews, Caleb and Chase Bankston; great-grandmother, Florence Rushing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
Dorothy Jane Anderson Snyder
Dorothy Jane Anderson Snyder was born on August 23rd, 1916 in Garyville, LA, to Dr. Smylie Scott and Lucille Gohn Anderson. She was the third of the couple's three red-haired daughters and was known affectionately to family and friends as "Baby." She died on January 29th. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Harry Snyder, and two sisters, Carroll Smith and Marwood Baker. She is survived by sons Marshall Snyder of Nashville, TN and Perry Snyder and his wife Cindy of Baton Rouge. Others who mourn her passing are her grandson Scott LaFollette Snyder; granddaughter Sarah Snyder Keating, her husband Aaron and their red-headed son Anderson; beloved nieces and their children and grandchildren; and, her many friends. She was a resident of Hammond, a 4th generation Presbyterian and lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church; attended Southeastern Louisiana College where she was a cheerleader and member of the Yellow Jackets. It was at Southeastern that she met her husband who was an end on and captain of the college's football team. Like millions of other members of Tom Brokaw's "Greatest Generation," they were separated by World War II. Her husband served in the Pacific while she remained in Hammond with their young son Perry. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and community volunteer whose involvements included the Habitat for Humanity Store. She enjoyed the companionship of her East Charles Street friends along with the azaleas, camellias, birds and wildlife in her yard. The family wishes to convey its appreciation to her physicians, Doctors Nicholas Stevens and Katherine St. Amant, and her minister, Dr. Jim Stayton, all of whom Mrs. Snyder taught in Sunday School and whose parents were her friends. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations to the First Presbyterian Church of Hammond, LA (P.O. Box 726, Zip code 70404) or to a charity of choice. Visitation will be at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Hammond (2000 N. J. L. Sykes, Sr.
Age 87 and a longtime resident of Holden, J.L. Passed away on Monday,February 1, 2010 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He retired as a superintendent with Cribbs Roofing in Baton Rouge after forty years of employment. He served the community as a Livingston Parish Sherriff’s Office Reserve Deputy for many years. J.L. was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Holden.
J.L. leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Ruby Sistrunk Sykes; sons, Jesse L. Sykes and wife Beverly, Ronald L. Sykes and wife Brenda, Edwin W. Sykes, Vernon S. Sykes and wife Lynn, Leland W. Sykes and wife Lana; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Elvira Timberlake; two brothers, C.V. Sykes and Huey P. Sykes.
Preceding J.L. in death were his infant daughter, Violet Joyce Sykes; parents, Robert "Bob" Sykes and Mary Hoyt Sykes; brothers, R.B. Sykes and K.C. Sykes; three infant siblings.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the First United Pentecostal Church of Holden on Wednesday,
February 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., with visiting hours beginning at 8:00 a.m. Rev. David L. Blackwell will officiate the services and interment will
follow in Sykes Family Cemetery

Joseph Emmett Threeton
Joseph Emmett Threeton died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at his residence. He was 65 and a lifelong resident of Springfield, Louisiana .
Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula on Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and on Friday after 8:00 A.M. Religious services will be held in the funeral home chapel Friday, February 5, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. interment will follow in Springfield Cemetery.
Mr. Threeton is survived by his daughter, Pamela Threeton and her fiance Ryan Fisher of New Orleans, LA; former wife, Susan Threeton of Tickfaw, LA; 2 brothers, Richard Threeton of French Settlement, LA, and Kenny Threeton of Springfield, LA; 4 sisters, Shirley Dick of Kentwood, LA, Frances Marshall of Albany, LA, Lucy Fontenot of Springfield, LA, and Brenda Corkern of Springfield, LA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett & Mildred Todd Threeton and 1 brother, Glen Threeton.
Eazers "Gene" Anthony
Eazers "Gene" Anthony, 64, died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at his residence in Tickfaw. He was born March 14, 1945 in Tickfaw, son of the late "SK" and Hazel Stafford Anthony. Mr. Gene was a retired inspector for the Department of Transportation and Development, and a veteran of the National Guard. He is survived by a very special friend and Fianc/, Pat Wheat; daughter, Brandy Wheat; grandson, Joshua Hughes; 3 sisters, Annie Bergeron, Dissie Herring, and Patsy Gill and husband Glenn; numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by 1 brother, Hillery Anthony and 3 sisters, Margie Purvis, Winnie Purvis and Delma Hughes. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Harry McKneely & Son in Hammond from 6 pm til 10 pm, and after 8 am on Wednesday, January 27 until the 11 am Funeral Home Chapel Service. interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ethel Louise Tycer Bittola
Ethel Louise Tycer Bittola, 77 years old of Hammond, Louisiana , died Saturday, January 23, 2010, in North Oaks Medical Center.
She was born on Saturday, March 26, 1932, in Amite, Louisiana , daughter of the late Robert William Tycer and Florence Estelle Holton Tycer.
Mrs. Bittola was a hairdresser for most of her life, owned "Mr. Pizza" and worked for Dr. Daily.
Surviving are daughter, Deborah Bittola; son, Robert Russell; grandchild, Chelsea Russell; brother, Herndon Tycer; and a sister, Grace M. Willoughby.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Joseph Bittola; an infant son, James Keith Bittola; a sister, Wilkie Bennett; and two brothers, Hillery and Herbert Tycer.
Mrs. Bittola's pallbearers are scheduled to be: David Atkins, Stevie Notriano, Joseph P. Davis, Ray Penton, Timmy Lowry, and Dwayne Tycer.
Friends will be received Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Thursday, January 28th after 8 a.m. until services.
