AMITE — Sophia Higgenbotham, 56, died March 19, 2006, at Lacombe Heart Hospital.
She was a member of the Christian Board of Education, Missionary Society Assistant President, Trustee Board, Beautification Committee, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Higgenbotham Sr.; three daughters, Valerie Watson of Independence, Margie Henson of North Carolina and Cassaundra Melton of Orlando, Fla.; one step-daughter, Vanessa Higgenbotham of Amite; two sons, Earl Higgenbotham Jr. of Hammond and Roddrick Higgenbotham of Independence; two sisters, Sharon Johnson and Susan Daniels; one step-sister, Cassandra Williams; four brothers, Charles Perkins, Jake Perkins, Melvin Perkins and Robert Perkins; one step-brother, Lawrence Callahan; and 11 grandchildren; and her mother, Margie Perkins.
Her father, Jake Perkins Sr.; two brothers, James Perkins and Orenthius Perkins; her grandmother, Essie Perkins; and one grandson, Brandon D. Higgenbotham, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be today at McMichael AME Church, from 5 p.m. until the funeral service at 7 p.m. The Rev. Herbert Spears will officiate.
Burial will be at Tangipahoa Cemetery, Tangipahoa.

Alvie Levell Magee
Alvie Levell Magee, 60, resident of Hammond, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at North Oaks in Hammond.
Keith Magee conducted the funeral service today at Sweet Home Church Christ Holiness. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Wesley Cornell Quinn
Wesley Cornell Quinn, 44, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at 9 p.m.
He was a native of Minneapolis, Minn.
Survivors include his father, Walter Quinn; his mother, Arrealia S. White ; three brothers, Kenneth George, Steven Quinn and Robert White .
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Lonnie R. White ; and Godmother, Benice L. Varnado.
Visitation will be at Greenfield Missionary Baptist Church, Hammond, today from 5 to 8 p.m. The Rev. Jerry Hanible will conduct the funeral service Saturday at 2 p.m.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Prentiss Henry Tate
NEW ORLEANS — Prentiss Henry Tate, age 64 years old, Passed away on March 14, 2006, at 1 a.m. at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge.
A native of Osyka, Miss., he was a longtime resident of New Orleans. He was a former truck driver for Morton Goldberg Auction Exchange.
He was the son of the late Curtis and Lizzie E. McElveen Tate Sr.
Father of Prentiss Clay, Patsy Ann, Princess, Shelita (Raymond), Shirley Ann, Priscilla, Prentiss Tate Jr., Frederick, Shantell, Nicole (Eric), Lizzie and Justin. He was the brother of Curtis (Mary Ann), Alma Jeanette (late Henry) Williams, Marguerite (late Joseph Littles) and Joseph Winfield Jr., James (Mable), Archie (Cassie Lee), Luther (Ernestine), Annie (Levelle) Curtis, Mary (Milton) Wilson Sr., Timothy (late Nettie Lou) and Mildred Jobarteh. Survived by 33 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services at Unity Missionary Baptist Church, 1192 Magnolia-Progress Road, McComb, Miss., Saturday at 1 p.m. Visitation from 10 a.m. until service time.
interment will be at Tangipahoa Cemetery, Osyka, Miss.

Henry L. Alexander
Folsom — Henry L. Alexander, 65, a lifelong resident of Folsom, died March 20, 2006, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Covington.
He was a self-employed cement contractor who recently retired after 35 years of hard work.
Survivors include his wife, Stella P. Alexander, Folsom; two daughters, Dodecanese Alexander, Folsom, and Doniphan (Rocky) Donahue, Greensburg; and five grandchildren, Jullian and Peyton, Folsom, and Taylor , Zoe' and Rocky Jr., Greensburg.
Visitation, Monday at Richardson Funeral Home, Amite, 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral, Tuesday at 11 a.m., Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Franklinton. The Rev. Ervin Garrett will officiate.
Burial will be at Hayhollow Cemetery, Folsom.
Cox, Randy G.
Died at 11:00 PM on Friday, March 24, 2006 at his residence near Amite, LA.
He was a born in Tylertown, MS. Age 57 years.

Ruthie Nell Powell Mixon
Ruthie Nell Powell Mixon, 49 years old of Holden, Louisiana , died Friday, March 24, 2006 in Hammond Nursing Home.
She was born May 13, 1956 in Hammond, Louisiana , daughter of Charles Powell and the late Lorraine Hall Powell.
Surviving are her husband, Jackie Leon Mixon; 2 sons, Joseph Deleio Mixon and Jackie Ray Mixon; sister, Christine Windecker; father, Charles Powell.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Hall Powell.
Friends will be received Saturday, March 25 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond from 6:00 - 9:00 pm and on Sunday, March 26 from 8:00 am until the religious service.
Services will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, Sunday, March 26, 2006 at 2:00 pm with Rev.Jeff Hathorn officiating.

Sara Jane Wilson
Sara Jane Wilson, newborn, died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at North Oaks Medical Center.
Survivors include her parents, Susan Louise Moak and Ernest Lavelle Wilson of Springfield; one brother, Scottie Robertson; four sisters, Crystal Elaine Wilson, Sandy Lynn Wilson, Chassity Marie Wilson and Allison Ruby Wilson, all of Springfield; maternal grandmother, Thelma R. Vicknair of Roseland; and paternal grandparents, Chuck and Velma (Sister) Wilson of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John E. Vicknair of Gonzales.
A graveside service and burial was held Tuesday at Foster Cemetery, Springfield.

Woodard, Jr., Lanice
Also know as Jr. Passed away on Friday, March 24 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
He was a life-long resident of St. Helena Parish and a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, an avid horserider and a member of the State Line Riders. He was 67 years of age.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Stewart Woodard; 5 children, Crystal W. Shaw, Nacagdoches, TX, Ronald Woodard, Kentwood, Norma W. Jones, Denham Springs, Victoria W. Coley, Greensburg, Stewart Woodard, Osyka, MS; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 2 sisters, Ruby Smith, Kentwood, and Peggy Goodson, Jackson ; brother, Donald Woodard, Jackson . He was preceded in death by his father, Lanice Woodard, Sr.; mother, Myrtis T. Woodard; sister, Lucille W. Turner.

Edward Earl Addison
Edward Earl Addison, 70 years old of Hammond, LA., died Monday, March 27, 2006 in North Oaks Medical Center.
Earl was born Friday, June 14, 1935 in New Orleans.
He was a retired air conditioning and refridgeration man in the Hammond area for 45 years.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years , Catherine Traylor Addison; six sons, Eddie, Bryan, Daniel, and David Addison, Joe McKoy, and Mark Addison; four daughters, Debbie Landry, Brenda Zito, Cindy Savoie and, Patricia Davis; three brothers, Alvin, Jack and Charles Addison; three sisters, Mary Lou Culbreath, Myrle Owens,and Inez Locicero; 17 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by Parents: Louis and Tommie Burgess Addison. Son: Timmy Addison. Daughter: Kathy Ann Addison. Sisters: Edna and Myertis.
