RONALD EDWARD JENKINS

HUSSER -- Ronald Edward Jenkins, 44, died Monday, Nov. 22, at his home.

A native of Kentwood, he was a member of Natalbany Baptist Church and a retired registered representative for Ozark National Life Insurance Company.

Survivors include his wife, Myra Husser Morel Jenkins of Husser; two daughters, Elizabeth Diane Morel of Husser and Amanda Morel Kelly of Walker; his parents, James W. and Maxine R. Jenkins of Tickfaw; a sister, Gwen Jenkins Vial of Katy, Texas ; three brothers, James A. Jenkins of Tickfaw, Roger B. Jenkins of Ponchatoula and David T. Jenkins of Loranger.

His maternal grandparents, Alcess and Carmalite Rogers, and his paternal grandparents, Doris and Irma Jenkins, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be at Natalbany Baptist Church, Natalbany, tonight from 6 to 10 and Wednesday from 8 until the funeral at 10 a.m. The Rev. Rodney Taylor will be in charge. Burial will be at Mount Stevens Cemetery, Independence. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, is in charge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

MICHAEL LEE SCARDINA SR.

TICKFAW -- Michael Lee Scardina Sr., 57, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at his home.

A native of Hammond, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was also a First Chief Merchant Seaman and master electrician.

Survivors include his daughter, Christine Scardina of Natalbany; his sons, Michael Lee Scardina Jr.; his mother, Verna Mae Davis Scardina of Tickfaw; a sister, Debra Ann Scardina Cannino of Holden; two brothers, Anthony Scardina II and Donald G. Scardina, both of Tickfaw; and five grandchildren and a step-grandchild.

His father, Tony Scardina, preceded him in death.

A graveside service will be today at 2 p.m. at Tickfaw Catholic Cemetery.

Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, is in charge.

JULIA FAYE BOZEMAN

HOLDEN --Julia Faye Bozeman, 67, a native of Forest, Miss., died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Prentiss Bozeman of Holden; two sons, Danny Bozeman of Walker and Robert Bozeman of Baton Rouge; three daughters, Debra Wascom of Holden and Hilda Kinchen and Teresa Rogers, both of Albany; four sisters, Lucille Sanders, Jackson , Miss., Hattie Sue Thornton, Carthage, Miss. and Jessie Shoemaker and Melba Jean Watkins, both of Philadelphia, Miss.; nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Her parents, Witt and Mattie Wright-Alford, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be at Geisler Funeral Home in Albany tonight from 6 until 9 and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m.

DOROTHEA IMES HAYNES

AMITE -- Dorothea Imes Haynes, 80, died on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at her home in Amite. She was a native of Lewiston.

Survivors include three sisters, Ella Mae McGee of Hammond, Augustine Hampton of New Orleans and Shirley Allen of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Robert Hampton of Velma and Leon and Noah Hampton, both of New Orleans.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Brumfield Hampton and Ivory Imes, her stepfather, Lee Hampton; her husband, Ernest Haynes; five brothers, Bernard and Johnny Hampton, Howard Iverson and Roy Imes; and three sisters, Benny Ruth Hampton, Willester Carter and Bertha Imes.

Visitation will be today from 4 until 7 p.m. at Angelic Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Rosehill Missionary Baptist Church.

SELMA GEDER

TANGIPAHOA -- Selma Geder, 75, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at her home. She was a native of Franklinton.

Survivors include four daughters, five sons; a sister, Josie Thomas of Tangipahoa; and a brother, Joseph Geder of Baton Rouge.

Her parents, the Rev. Harrison and Lucy Geder, preceded her in death as did four sisters, five brothers, a daughter and a son.

Visitation will be at Angelic Funeral Home, Roseland, Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. The Rev. M. Hurst will conduct the funeral at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday, and burial will be in Crystal Springs Cemetery, Mt. Hermon.

MARGARET GRAYER

INDEPENDENCE -- Margaret Grayer, 72, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004 at Landmark Nursing Home, Hammond.

Survivors include two daughters, Ella Wilson of New Orleans and Nina Beauchamp of Independence; a son, Gregory Grayer of Independence; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Her parents, sisters and brothers preceded her in death.

The Rev. Curtis Grayer conducted the funeral this afternoon at 2 p.m., and burial was in Big Zion Cemetery, Roseland.

Angelic Funeral Home of Roseland was in charge of arrangements.

RICHARD PERRILLOUX

Richard Perriloux, age and address not available, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at West Jefferson Hospital.

Arrangements are to be made with Harry McKneely & Son in Ponchatoula.

MICHAEL SNYDER

Michael Snyder, 27, a native of Oklahoma who lived in Loranger, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at Lallie Kemp Hospital in Independence.

Arrangements are to be made at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula.

THOMAS TALLO

Thomas "Tommy" Tallo, 42, a native and resident of Loranger, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at his home.

Arrangements are being made at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond.

MARY BRUCE SHELTON

Mary Bruce Shelton, 93, died at North Oaks Medical Center on Friday, Oct. 29, 2004.

A native of Gonzales, she is survived by her two daughters, Vera Bardwell of Robert and Jeannette Brumfield of Amite; her two sons, Monroe Shelton of Madisonville and Gene Shelton of Tickfaw; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Shelton; her two sons, Carl Ray and Perry Shelton; seven sisters, Martha Thompson, Elva Shelton, Irene Hughes, Jesse Wainwright, Alice Gray, Ruby Mitchell and Thero Joiner; and one brother, Hollis Bruce.

Visitation will be today, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.

Religious services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.

Burial will follow in Hoffman Cemetery.

Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ELOISE STEPTOE

INDEPENDENCE -- Eloise Steptoe, 71, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.

She is survived by one daughter, Cassandra Butler of Independence; one sister, Lizzie Collins of New Orleans; two brothers, Dan Garman and Milton Garman, both Peoria, Ill.; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Bunyon and Lubertha Garman; one daughter, Gwendolyn Tanner; two sisters, L. Thomas and Ora L. Finn; and one brother, Hilton Garman Sr.

Visitation will be Sunday at Richardson Funeral Home, Amite, from 4 to 9 p.m. The Rev. Thelma Thomas will conduct the funeral Monday at Martin Chapel AME Church, Independence, at 10 a.m.

Burial will be at Leonard Chapel Cemetery, Independence.

JOHN WILLIAM TRENT

Burial was Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at Sand Hill Cemetery, Ponchatoula, for John William Trent, 62, who died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at his Hammond residence.

He was a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., and a mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Davis Trent of Hammond; his sons, John Trent Jr. of Florida and James Trent of Georgia; his daughters, Kathy Thornton of Georgia and Pam Mullins of Indiana; his step-daughters, Cheryl Joyner of Texas and Jeaneane Hennick of Louisiana ; his mother, Gladys Tankersly Trent Knox of Virginia; his brothers, Roy, David and Robby Trent, all of Tennessee; his sister Ruthie Russell of Tennessee; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His father, Barney E. Trent; his brother, Ronald Trent; his sister, Sybil Land; and one grandchild preceded him in death.

Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula was in charge.

FAYE MCCARROLL HIMEL WELCH

BATON ROUGE-Faye McCarroll Himel Welch, 69, died on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

A native of Ponchatoula, she is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" E. Welch of Baton Rouge; her two daughters, Rhonda Himel Arledge of Ethel and Lori Himel Miller of Mobile, AL; two sons, Ronnie E. Himel and Barry K. Himel of Ethel; one brother, Dwaine McCarroll of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Ahley and Amanda Himel, Dixie and Adam Arledge, and Adam Peak.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.S. Himel; her parents, Lewis and Mary Lee Beall McCarroll; one infant brother, Billy McCarroll and an infant sister, Rita McCarroll.

Visitation will be Monday, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, and after 8 a.m. until the religious service on Tuesday.

The religious service will be conducted by Dr. Ron Aguillard at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004.

Burial will follow in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery in Pumpkin Center.
