Callais, Paul Abdon
Paul Abdon Callais, 39, born in Golden Meadow and resident of Gonzales, was lost at sea Wednesday, June 25, 2008. A memorial service will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Gonzales Friday, July 11, 2008. Family visitation will be at 9:30 a.m.; a Mass will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. A memorial service will also be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Golden Meadow Saturday, July 12, 2008. Family visitation will be at 10 a.m.; a mass will follow at 11 a.m. Paul is survived by his wife, Danielle LeBlanc Callais, and their children Christopher, Claire and Caitlyn; his mother Gloria Bienvenu Callais; three brothers and their families: Charles Michael, Blanche, Leah and Rachel; Corey, Tina, Harold, II and Nicholas; Peter, Monica, Justin, Isaac, and Noah. He was preceded in death by his father Harold Joseph Callais; grandparents Abdon Callais and Ada Bruce Callais; C. Thomas Bienvenu Sr. and Isaure Blanchard Bienvenu. Paul’s professional affiliations included: President and Chief Executive Officer of United Community Bank, Board of Directors of Community Bank in Raceland, formerly American Bank in Welch and Citizens Progressive Bank in Columbia. He received the distinction of being named to the “Top 40 Under 40” by the Baton Rouge Business Report in 2002. His civic affiliations include the Gonzales Rotary Club, Past President of the Golden Meadow Rotary Club, the Executive Council of Istrouma Area of the Boy Scouts of America, and served as a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Paul obtained a Masters of Business Administration degree from Tulane University, an undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is also a graduate of the Louisiana School of Banking directed by the Louisiana Bankers Association and the LSU Graduate School of Banking. Paul completed Leadership Lafourche and Leadership Ascension programs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the: Von Hippel Lindau Family Alliance, 2001 Beacon Street, Suite 208, Boston, MA 02135-7877.

Babin, Bella Parr
A lifelong resident of Ascension Parish, she died on Friday, July 4, 2008, at Gonzales Health Care Center. She was 94. Burial in Hope Haven Cemetery, La. 30, Gonzales. She enjoyed traveling all over the United States with her friends. She also loved to fish.

Borde, Kurt Gus
He died on Monday, June 30, 2008, of heart failure. He was 50, a resident of Maurepas and a native of Bogalusa. Arrangements pending with Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs. Kurt was the owner of Alpha Cash Register in Baton Rouge. He loved music, was an avid LSU fan, and most of all loved living by and enjoying the water through boating, jet skiing and fishing.

Hayes, Robert Dale “Rob”
A retired machinist with Lawco Inc., Gonzales, he died Saturday, June 28, 2008, in St. Joseph. He was 70, a resident of Prairieville and native of El Dorado, Ark. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Tuesday, July 1, from 9 a.m. to noon. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m., with the Rev. Eric Gyan, celebrant. interment in False River Memorial Park, New Roads. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Esneault, Max Anthony
A resident of Donaldsonville, he died at noon Friday, June 20, 2008, in Baton Rouge. He was 55 and a native of New Orleans. interment in the Ascension Catholic Church Cemetery, Donaldsonville.

Chambers, Barbara Sue
A homemaker and a resident of Gonzales, she died at 11:28 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, in Gonzales. She was 76 and a native of West Monroe. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales is in charge of arrangements.

GAUTREAU, WANDA ANN BABIN
A native of Lake Charles and resident of St. Amant, she died Sunday, June 15, 2008 from lung cancer at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Visitation was at Ourso Funeral Home and Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with entombment in the church cemetery.

He was 20, a lifelong resident of Gonzales and a delivery driver for Bunny Bread Co. He died on Wednesday, June 4, 2008. Visiting was at New Beginning Word Fellowship in Gonzales on June 14. interment was in St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery, Gonzales.

ABRAHAM, SR. RANDY KEITH "HAPPY"
He was a United Pentecostal Church International minister for 34 years. A resident of Prairieville, he died at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. He was 51 and a native of Crowley. interment service in d'Augereau Family Cemetery, Breaux Bridge. He is survived by his parents, Ray and Betty Jane Abraham; paternal grandfather, Willie Ray Abraham; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca and Cresley Pierce of Prairieville and Rachel Boyle of Maurice; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy Keith II and Jennifer Abraham of Prairieville; wife, Sabrina M. Abraham of Houston; son-in-law, Michael Boyle of Maurice; a sister and brother-in-law, Renella and Dewayne Turner of Tomball, Texas ; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Roger Dale Abraham of New Orleans and Kenneth and Debbie Abraham of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Cresley Pierce II, Nathaniel Pierce and Austin Pierce; four nephews and two nieces. Pallbearers were Randy Keith Abraham II, son; Kenneth Abraham, brother; Dwayne Turner, brother-in-law; Jason Turner, nephew; Roger Turner, nephew; and Anthony Turner, nephew. Honorary pallbearers were Roger Dale Abraham, brother; and Kennon Paul Abraham, nephew.

BOURQUE, ARNOLD J. "TOM"
A retired farmer and a resident and a native of Gonzales, he died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at 1:35 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 93. He is survived by two nieces, Fran Nolen and Katie Tullier; two special cousins, Ruth Bourque and Shirley Mire; a sister-in-law, Rachel Bourque; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel; parents, Rollo and Antoinette Bourque; a sister, Ilid "Till" Kelleher; and a brother, Irah "Tool" Bourque.

CABALLERO, RENE P.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, in Baton Rouge. He was 93 and a native of Plattenville. He was a sugar-cane farmer for 45 years until he retired. He is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law, Eugene and Kathleen Caballero, Baton Rouge, Gary and Laura Caballero, Cut Off, and Marlene Caballero, Baton Rouge; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dorothy and John Verzwyvelt, Lafayette, Vivian and Kenneth Bailey, Gonzales, and Nancy Caballero Watts, Baton Rouge; 23 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Clara and Risley C. Triche, Napoleonville, and Tillie Hebert, Plattenville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle Guillot Caballero; parents, Numa and Clara Solar Caballero; a son, Rene Andre Caballero; a son-in-law, Russell B. Watts; a granddaughter, Lisa Caballero; and a great-grandson, Joseph Core. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Kevin Caballero, Eugene Caballero Jr., John Verzwyvelt Jr., David B. Watts, Kenneth Bailey Jr. and Gary Caballero Jr.

CANCIENNE, JR. ALBERT EARL "AL"
An insurance auditor with Cigna, Bico and Cal Tec and a resident of Donaldsonville, he died at 6:10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, in Donaldsonville. He was 59 and a native of New Orleans. Survived by his wife, Statia Dubis Cancienne, Donaldsonville; mother, June Hawkins Cancienne, New Orleans; a daughter and son-in-law, Valerie Cancienne and Scott Jeansonne, Mandeville; two sons, Jacques Albert Cancienne, Denham Springs, and Benjamin Walter Cancienne, Donaldsonville; three sisters, Kathleen Plaisance, New Orleans, Janet Hunter, Edgewater, Md., and Suzette Fleury, New Orleans; three brothers, Gary Cancienne, Broken Arrow, Okla., Gregory Cancienne, Ponchatoula, and Donald Cancienne, Metairie; and two grandchildren, Sarah Jeansonne and Hannah Jeansonne. Preceded in death by his father, Albert Earl Cancienne Sr. Donations may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, Boy Scouts of America or American Heart Association. He was a Scout Master with Boy Scouts of America Troop 52, Donaldsonville, and Troop 769, Prairieville. He was a former member of the Louisiana National Guard, Kountry Kickers Square Dance Club, St. Amant, and Round Dance Club in Baton Rouge.

DESOTO, JR. CHARLIE SAMUEL CECIL
He, who was affectionately known as "Sam," Passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at his residence in Gonzales surrounded by family and friends. He was 71, born May 7, 1932, at Bayou Current. He had been a resident of Gonzales since 1966, and was retired from Stupp Corp. as a welder after 26 years. Burial in Hope Haven Cemetery in Gonzales, next to his son. Survived by his wife, Patricia Anna Morris DeSoto of Gonzales; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Phillip Watkins of Gonzales; two grandsons, Michael and Daniel Watkins of Gonzales; a granddaughter, Ashley; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Marie; a former daughter-in-law, Nancy DeSoto of Port Vincent; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy Ann DeSoto and Rick Roberson of San Antonio; a brother and sister-in-law, George Sr. and Gloria DeSoto of Port Barre; numerous nieces and nephews; an aunt and uncle, Alice and Tony Loreno of Kenner; and his extended family, the "Stupp Boys." Preceded in death by parents, Mariah and Sam DeSoto Sr., who were of Woods ide; two sisters, Gertrude and Evertta; a brother, Algey DeSoto, who was of Gonzales; and his son, Thomas Cecil "Tommy" DeSoto. He was a member of Gonzales Baptist Temple of Gonzales. He also belonged to the Steel Workers Union of America in Baton Rouge -- Local 623.

DOOLEY, MARGARET C.
She was 74 and died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at her home in Gonzales after a short illness. Though predeceased by her three brothers, Marvin, Donnell and Neal, she is survived by her sister Patricia D. Drischel of Hagerstown, Ind. Her sister and great-niece, Leslie Edwards of Hagerstown, were with her at the time of her death. She is also survived by dozens of nieces and nephews, including Mike Dooley and Pat Dooley of Baton Rouge. Margaret was born in Ferriday and attended "Ole Miss." She was an executive assistant at Shell in Geismar for many years, then retired to open "Dooley's Bait Shop" in downtown Gonzales. She worked as a bookkeeper for Gonzales Hardware, volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital, was active in the local chapter of Senior Friends, and attended classes at the community college until only weeks before her death.
