Lynn Williams

Lynn H. Williams, 80, of DeQuincy died Saturday, July 5, 2008, in a local hospital.

He was a native of Hornbeck and lived in DeQuincy since 1954, where he attended New Hope Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masons and the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 106.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Williams; daughter, Becky Clark of Moss Bluff; son, Mike Williams of Lake Charles; sisters, Myrtle Miller and Ann Cooper; brother, Guy Williams; and three grandchildren.

His funeral was held Monday, July 7, in New Hope Baptist Church. The Rev. Jerry Chaddick officiated. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home.

Sylvia Bailey

Sylvia Rawlins Bailey, 92, died Mar. 25, 2007.

She was born in Oakdale, and lived in DeQuincy. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star-Chapter #34, for more than 60 years. She was a lifelong member of the V.F.W., a member of the Pink Ladies at DeQuincy Hospital, a sunday school teacher and a volunteer at the DeQuincy Nursing Home for many years.

Survivors include one son, Carl Lee Bailey; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her spouses, Jack Bass, Charley Bailey and Ralph Clark, three sons, Harlen Bass, Jimmy Bass and Charles R. Bailey; four sisters, and four brothers.

Her funeral will be Thursday, Mar. 29, at 10 a.m. at the Bible Baptist Church with a graveside service at 2 p.m. in Wisby Memorial Cemetery in Cravins, under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Bro. Paul Nugent will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, Mar. 28 from 5-9 p.m. at Hixson-Snider Funeral home.

Robert Redden

Robert L (Moon) Redden died Saturday, Mar. 24 2007. He was a former resident of DeQuincy and a former Missouri Pacific Railroad Conductor.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Broussard Funeral Home, Major Drive, Beaumont, Tex. Phone 409-866-3838.

Alvin Royer, Sr.

Funeral Services for Alvin Dale Royer, Sr., 72, of Sulphur, were held Saturday, Mar. 24, at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church, in Sulphur. Rev. Jim Winiarski, M. S. and Deacon Maurice Serice officiated. Burial was in Royer Cemetery in Sulphur.

Mr. Royer died Wednesday, Mar. 21, 2007, in the Sulphur hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Sulphur, and was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church. Mr. Royer served in the Louisiana National Guard. He retired as a Pipefitter/Welder from the construction industry after over 35 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Letitia “Tish” Gros Royer of Sulphur; two sons, Alvin Dale Royer, Jr. of Sulphur, and Joe Bill Royer and wife, DeAnne, of DeRidder; one daughter, Pam Martarona and husband Frank of DeQuincy; one sister, Mrs. Johnnie Justus of Sulphur; and eight grandchildren.

Grace Camp

Grace Madeline Camp, 87, of DeQuincy died Tuesday, Mar. 20, 2007 at her residence.

Mrs. Camp was a native of Montpelier, Ind. and grew up in Haynesville, where she finished high school. She was a graduate of Crimas Business College of Shreveport.

Mrs. Camp was a well-known self taught artist and a retired substitute teacher in the Lake Charles area. She has resided in DeQuincy since 1978 and was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in DeQuincy.

She is survived by two daughters; Loyann Camp Nunn of Lafayette, and Gerry Camp Bader of Sulphur, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Her funeral was held Friday, Mar. 23, from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paththinikuttige Kingsley Nonis officiating. Burial was in Consolata Cemetery.

Ernestine Droddy

Ernestine Renne’ Toms Droddy, 52, of Singer, died Monday, Mar. 19, 2007, in her residence.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Droddy of Singer; three sons, Byran Wesley Droddy of Lake Charles, Zachary Ryan Droddy of Ruston and Andrew Payton Droddy of Singer; five brothers, Robert Toms of Houma, Wesley Toms of Winnfield, Pete Toms of Monroe, and Jim and Jerry Toms, both of New Iberia; and five sisters, Sue Blood and Martha Bushong of Ruston, Serona Plunkett of Jonesboro, and Agnes Eddleman and Dawn Eddleman, both of Singer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Her funeral was held Thursday, Mar. 22, in Good Hope Baptist Church in Singer. The Rev. Ray Bourque and Jerry Hext officiated. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery.

Eunice VanWinkle

Eunice Mae VanWinkle, 89, of DeQuincy died July 31, 2012 in a local nursing home.

Mrs. VanWinkle enjoyed traveling and square dancing. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting. As for her family, she made the best banana pudding and pecan pies.

Survivors include her son, Jimmy Don VanWinkle; her daughter, Patricia Sonnier; one sister, Eva Rae McQueen; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald VanWinkle; her parents, James and Annie Barrow; a brother, James Barrow; and a sister, Ruth White .

Her funeral service was held at 10 a.m.Saturday, Aug. 4, at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Eddie Hoosier officiated. Burial was at the Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy.

Visitation was held Friday, Aug. 3, from 4 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home and resumed again at 8 a.m. until time of service.

Craig Lee

Memorial services for Craig Steven Lee, 51, of Plano, Texas , were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 25, in Plano, Texas at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Rev. Robert Jamison officiated. Burial was in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Turrentine, Jackson , and Morrow.

He died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Plano Medical Center. He was a native of DeQuincy. He attended Spring Creek Baptist Church. He was the owner of Heating and Air Conditioning Co.

He attended Northbrook High in Houston, Texas ; Arapahoe Community College, Aurora, Colo.; and ATI Technical Institute in Dallas, Texas .

Survivors include his spouse, Vanessa (Van Gorder) Lee; his parents, Mr and Mrs. Richard (Velma Marcantel) Benny of Plano, Texas ; sons, Cody Allen Lee, U. S. Navy and Travis Ryan Lee of Plano, Texas ; brothers, Randall Lee, Kevin Patrick Benny, Scott Christopher Benny, all of Plano, Texas ; grandparents, the late Isreal and Thelma Marcantel, long time residents of DeQuincy, the late Lloyd and Evelyn Lee of Ragley, great-grandparents Mr. and Mrs. William I. Marcantel and Mr. and Mrs. Gus Ashworth, all of DeQuincy.

Birdie Clark

Birdie Lee Clark “Maw Maw”, 87, of DeQuincy, died Friday, July 27, 2012, at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles. She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Ragley for over 50 years.

She enjoyed cleaning and decorating her home. She also loved taking care of her children and grandchildren. She never wanted to be a bother to anyone. She loved cooking for her family. Some of their favorites were spaghetti, fried chicken, rice dressing and chicken and sausage gumbo.

She was the daughter of the late Valarie Johnson and the late Jeanette (Clark) Johnson .

She is survived by her two daughters, Jenny McDonald and husband Tom of Longville, Marlene Vincent and husband Pogo of Ragley; one son, Wallace Clark Jr. of Ragley; one sister, Nona Romero of Morgan City; one brother, Carlton Johnson of Krotz Springs; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace Clark Sr.; her daughter, Barbara Jean Barrow; brother, Wesley Johnson ; three sisters, Lilian Cafro, Evelyn Vilin, Eula Lombas.

The family received friends from 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Christensen Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, July 30, at Faith Baptist Church in Ragley.

Funeral service was held at Faith Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Monday, July 30. Rev. Bill Smith and Bro. Ron Fox officiated. interment was at Hagar Cemetery in Ragley.

Mary Farque

Mary Valma "Vee" Farque, 93, of DeQuincy Passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012 in Westwood Manor Nursing Home.

Miss Farque was a native of DeQuincy and resident of DeRidder. She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of DeQuincy. She served in the choir and taught Sunday school for over 35 years. Mrs. Farque was known by many through her employment at Nichol's Department Store for many years.

Survivors include her niece, Barbara Bridges of DeRidder.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jennings Farque and Rae Farque; two sisters, Mildred Farque and Billie Wilson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug 1, from 10 a.m. until service time at First Baptist Church of DeQuincy. Her funeral will be on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of DeQuincy. Rev. Rob Walls will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of DeQuincy or a charity of your choice.

Rosie Tinsley

Rosie Lee “Bobbie” Tinsley, 67, of DeQuincy passed from this life on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in Lake Charles.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Denver Roy Tinsley; daughters, Sandy Wilkerson and husband Bubba and Carolyn Clark and husband Brad; brother, Clayton Doyle and wife Ruby, all of DeQuincy. She is survived by her grandchildren, James Wilkerson III and wife Emily of Shreveport, Arlene Wilkerson of Lake Charles, and Christopher Clark of DeQuincy; great-grandchildren, James Wilkerson IV and Catherine Wilkerson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosie and Acie Doyle and sister, Louise Daigle.

Visitation was held Friday, July 20, at Hargrove Bible Baptist Church in DeQuincy from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 21, at 10 a.m. also at Hargrove Bible Baptist Church. Burial followed at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer. Bro. Paul Nugent officiated.

Funeral services were under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
